The past is not what interests Doctor Lennan Vincent. His concern has always lied in the present future and the life that would inhabit it. Trying to save every beating heart, and mankind from its own destruction, Doctor Vincent wages war against death in the hospital and outside of it. Dedicated only to his moral code, he never expects to fall in love with a woman whose life was hanging over a bridge.
Only the most tragic events invade the life of Cora Vancova, a simple yet astonishingly beautiful woman, and thrusts her already severed heart into the arms of a man who would fall to his death to save her.
Lennan's noble life cause is suddenly in question upon saving the life of Cora, causing him to reflect on his dangerous course. Containing powerful secrets only he created, Lennan must decide to continue on his current path or leave it behind him to ensure the safety of Cora. Lying in the shadows of the past, however, exists a secret not even a brilliant mind like Lennan could have foreseen.
Set in the urban chaos of Manhattan, two people fall fiercely in love and try to escape what destiny has in store for them. Lennan, however, understands better than anyone that destiny is a lie.
Fate is the falsest of hopes.
He is beyond any prophecy.

The main character, Dr. Lennan Vincent, is a very interesting guy and his way of thinking is fascinating and unique. Lennan’s life definitely revolves around a great deal of mystery and his ability to love is unmeasurable. All he wants to do is save people, keep them alive, help them in any way he can, and try to make the world a better place. Lennan’s on a path, a mission he chose based on his thinking and how he wants to world to be. Cora Vancova, the mother to 3-month-old Nayley, has a tragic history and certain events put her directly into Lennan’s path. Lennan will tell you their worlds collided based on numbers that are alive and govern the universe. (Just read the book and you’ll see what I’m talking about.)

You meet several secondary characters along the way. A Detective Clark, who’s still dealing with the death of his son, and a young girl named Mira who’s in need of a heart transplant. I found it interesting how differently Mira and Cora handled dealing with Isaac. All I’ll tell you about Isaac is, Isaac is based on vortex math and the golden ratio. I feel like I received a crash course in mathematics while reading this book. Have I peaked your interest yet?

I will admit this book does contain a “book trigger” for me and when I reached it, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. But I pushed through, continued to read, and I was very happy that I did. This trigger plays a very big role in this story.

I love to take a chance on a new author by reading their words and I’m glad I read Natural Affection. Tristan’s writing style is a bit different from other authors I’ve read but I truly enjoyed the complexity of this story. Thank you, Tristan, for giving me the opportunity to read your book before it’s even published.

I typically have a very skeptical view point when I begin reading a book from an author I've never read before. However, after a recommendation from one of my favorite authors I was very curious. With that being said, I felt this book was a delightful reprieve from my usual cynical thoughts. This story fuses very real issues into a world you would only find (through one's imagination written in a book.). I appreciated the story's moral compass and the hero's choices to pursue justice or vengeance. As a mother myself it touched on something dear to my heart. I feel a warning must be made toward readers....as not everyone will agree with the hero's choices or his moral compass. But I most certainly do value life, and loved the world created in Natural Affection.

The story begins with a traumatic event, and it helped the ball get going right away. Enter Dr. Lennan Vincent, a very passionate doctor set on doing the right thing always. He ends up meeting Cora in an unusual way. (I'll leave some of the details vague for spoiler purposes.). He finds her beauty as intriguing as she finds him. I'll admit there were times that Lennan's flair for words was a bit much for me. I also felt like their relationship evolved rather quickly. But I imagine after Cora's backstory and having a 3 month old baby (Nayley), you probably wouldn't waste much time if you met someone you have a connection with. Dr. Lennan is mysterious and part of the intrigue of the plot is finding out why and what is going on.

The plot is fast paced and laced with mathematics. It's incredible how math plays into our lives and we don't give it much thought. Over the course of the story math plays a heavy hand in the genius Lennan displays regularly. I myself don't think about math other than when I have to do some. (Gulp.). So to have it interlaced with the explanation was very interesting and surprising. Overall, I appreciated the massive amount of references to mathematics and biblical concepts. The author's use of action and romance helped to guide this story without being bogged down by overwhelming mathematical concepts. This is a well thought out story. I can only imagine the research required to explain the concepts used in the story. And the finesse required to make the reader feel like they are part of the world and not being swallowed whole by it. Bravo Tristan Cruz!

That was great! I always looking for books with a new idea and can hold my attention. This book definitely did both. I liked all of the points of view. is such a great story of how Cora and Dr.Lennan met at first and how they end up . Also, the author did a very genius work by involving the math in this book which i found it unusual in a good way.

I loved this and if you're still reading, stop and go add and read Natural Affection. You deserve to read this outstanding book!
