The second volume of Himegoto really delves into the individual characters, offering a deeper look at what makes them tick. This installment felt less overtly seedy and malicious, and more focused on the characters navigating their personal desires and needs. I was particularly surprised by how much I enjoyed the developing connection between the crossdresser and the tomboy. It nicely emphasizes their individual growth and uncertainty, yet they find a sense of comfort and acceptance in each other's company.
The character of the "sex freak" remains an odd element, using her sexuality to demean men while simultaneously being used by them for their own gratification. This dynamic feels strange, but I'm intrigued to see how it plays out as the story progresses.
Ultimately, this was another compelling entry in the series. The fact that I devoured chapters 13 through 24 in a mere 20 minutes speaks volumes about its engaging nature. Definitely looking forward to the next volume.
