Sorry to be blunt, but the first book in this series, The Vampire’s Slave, was trash. I nearly DNF. But I’m glad I paid attention to the ratings for the rest of the books in this series and decided to give the author another chance, because this book delivered.
First - the overarching storyline is really really good. It had to be in order to keep me invested enough to even try this second book. A group of elitist vampires, known as the “Red Circle,” are the ruling body for all vampires. But they are definitely not a benevolent organization. If they deem you as unworthy of being a vampire, your life is forfeit. This series, or at least the first 3 books, appear to be about a group of vampires that are willing to take on the Red Circle and obliterate them. So lots of suspense, subterfuge and betrayals. Check. Check. Check! And if you want typical vampire steamy scenes, this author does know how to up the erotic factor.
Character development - Odd, for a PNR book, there are actually 4 main characters in this book, and the story is told from all of their POV, which I loved. Kat - Human, sister to Ruth, mate to Ansel, has cognizance ability Ansel - Vampire, mate to Kat, his power is the ability to absorb the strength/power of any vampire he kills. He’s uncommonly strong for a vamp of only 1 year. Ruth - Human, turned vampire, sister to Kat, mate to Edmund, has some type of telekinetic connection with Edmund that can cross realms Edmund - Vampire, bounty hunter, mate to Ruth I loved the camaraderie that developed between Ansel and Edmund. Oh it wasn’t all smooth sailing as Edmund was going to hand him over to the Red Circle, but it happened and I appreciated the lighthearted banter between these two. The two female characters are so much better than Claire, our insipid heroine from the first book.
I honestly didn’t have much hope that the author could turn this thing around, considering how much I disliked the first book. But as of this point, I’m hooked and can’t wait to start the next installment. This book does end on a cliff hanger and there’s no HEA yet for our two main couples here.
I'm confused by the series, but individually the books are great. I was happier with this book versus the first in the series. It flowed better and made more sense.
It would be 5 stars but I hate cliff hangers. So there's that if you don't like the cliffs, wait til the author finishes this series. Be patient with the books too. Once you're a ways in you're hooked and want to know the end. It doesn't seem like the two stories will connect but at some point in book two, we do get hope for answers in book one. Signed a sincerely impatient reader who hates cliffs, lol
I can't believe I even attempted reading the second book in this series, but surprisingly I'm glad I did. It like It was different authors writing the first book in the series and this one. Way better, It was actual good with a story line plot and the development of charcters . With some depth and understanding of these characters makes a story believable and more passionate. If I was this author i would remove the first book and re-write it.
I was drawn to book 2 more than the book 1. Book 2 had more action and even though it had sex scenes they were not at graphic as book 1. I like a little imagination when I read. Am currently on book 3 and hope they get better with each one. Will complete the series because I want to see where they go.
Stumbled on to a good series, book 1 was great as well
Great book, I enjoyed book 1 as well and encourage that book to be read first. I am OCD about reading books in order and I would say it's a must here. I started reading on here, Kindle, only when I forgot my book and now I'm stuck in these books and paused the other series I was rereading.
I Enjoyed book #2. I kind of felt like it was a back story to book #1 so I was a little confused but everything came together fine. I can't wait to see how the new characters come into play in book 3. Great read
Like the first book, the misprints were so numerous that it ruined the book. I really enjoy a good book that flows. I really enjoy the vampire genre but the mistakes were too numerous to enjoy the book.
Although good, this volume has some problems. I was constantly distracted by both grammatical and editing errors -- at least 50. The flow of the story was good, the telling less refined.
This book is so much better than "The Vampire's Slave." However, the spelling and constant grammatical errors are extremely irritating. I bought books 1-4 as a set on Amazon, but I can't say I'm excited to read the next installment.
The Vampire 's Prisoner (Tales of Vampires Book 2) by Sara Novak Djokovic
This book was fantastic and full of action, love, excitement and danger. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. Keep them coming Sara !!!
Wow I’m living this books more and more I live they way they are starting to link up and I love their love stories very beautiful stories about vampires and very suspenseful too
Wow! I must find book number one! This was great! Not only for curling sex but exciting...filled with danger, deception and mystery. A truly original and unique and epic vampire saga!
This book has all the necessary components of a good storyline. Humor, suspense, fighting, romance, sex. Some things were a little obvious, but not enough to destroy the story.
This was horrible. I had a hard time finish the ng the first one so I don't know why I started the second one. The story is very slow and really confusing.
