Write Like a Maniac!: Unleash the Writer Inside of You

Rate this book
For years you've been brainwashed into believing that writing has to be painful.
You've been told that to be a writer you have to rip your guts out and throw them onto the page.
That you have to bleed on the page...and suffer through it. Either that or drown yourself in massive amounts of alcohol to mask the pain it takes to truly be a "writer".
Ummm...what if none of that was true?
What if those thoughts and the entire "tormented writer" mindset were holding you back the entire time?
What if they were making you LESS  productive?
What if they were the reasons you suffer from the dreaded "writer's block"?
Isn't it time you tried something different?
Write Like a Maniac is a book written to change the way you think about writing. The goal is to help make your writing simple, efficient, and powerful. All it takes are a few simple techniques...and you're on your way.
Here are a few other things you'll learn along the way...
What is "The Shower Principle" ...and how can you use it to be a better writer?
When the best time to write is...and the trick SNL creator Lorne Michaels used for years in the writer's room.
The cold hard TRUTH about "natural born writers"...
Why every writer needs an "imaginary friend" like the one they had when they were 6!
The Four P's that are causing your writer's block.
How to write a book without actually writing (or typing) a single word...
Why you should NEVER give 110%...
The trick Larry David uses to never miss a hilarious moment to use later.
Why 5,000 word books KILL 20,000 word books every day of the week...and twice on Sunday!
And much much more...including the Author's favorite podcasts! No lie...
Here's the deal...
Write Like a Maniac  is the book about writing you never thought you'd read.
It's simple, fast-paced, light-hearted style will put you at ease...while still teaching you how to become a more powerful and productive writer.
Whether you're writing books, blog posts, screenplays, letters to your grandmother, ranting on Facebook, a 100,000-word manifesto on Cheerios, or just journaling for your own sanity... Write Like a Maniac  can help you immediately.
With plenty of information that you can put to use ASAP, you will see results. This isn't one of those books on writing that takes you a week to read...and then you spend a week thinking about it.
Nope.
Plenty of those out there already.

This book is like an info graphic on how to start writing and keep writing. It is like a compilation of all those other books about writing, so for some it will be a good reminder, or refresher, of things forgotten and for others it will be a goof eclectic entry into the skills that maintain you as a writer.

Fast paced, exciting, funny and interesting.

This is a brisk guide targeted to beginning writers, which I'm not, but the author jolted me back to remembered that writing should be fun. It also should occur without distraction and the "four Ps" that he mentions in the book. Good resource guide in the back, too.

Great for a kick in the pants.

A bit repetitive but sound advice for writers of any level. Has some good resources I haven't heard of so worth the time to read.

For a little book, this was both entertaining and helpful as a 'wake-up' call to get writing again. I liked it.
