I voluntarily received an advanced review copy of this book and chose to review it.
I absolutely love the Devil's Share series so I was excited to read about their spawn. However, because we haven't really been introduced to the kids before, besides Landry, Halen and Beau, I found the Going a bit tough. I constantly was referring back to the family tree and having to stop and think about who belonged to whom. I also found the language used in the prologue didn't fit with the ages the kids were supposed to be.
Having said that, I did love this book. I loved the completely heart wrenching tone of Beau and Halen's relationship. Even though I felt the language in the prologue was a little off, I did love that bit.
But I felt the book was focused so much on the other kids and what was going on with them, rather than solely focused on Beau and Halen. I would've liked to have seen more of them interacting, also more of Halen after Beau left, I felt like we never really get a full picture of her.
I am excited to read more about the other kids, Landry is intriguing and so is Cash, although I'm not keen on the impending sense of doom for most of the kids. Still, this is a great book and I'd get on it!
