RATING 4.5 STARS

Rugged is book two in the series, A True Mountain Man, by Frankie Love. This book was previously known as His Lucky Charm. This could be a perfect read for St. Patricks Day or if you’re like me and you enjoy Frankie’s books as much as I do, it’s great for any time of the year!

Conor McGregor lives in Ireland and seems to always have the luck of the Irish on his side. He works for himself running his business, The Lucky Irishman Tour Company. He lives in a barn that has been transformed into a quaint cabin up on the mountain. He’s just thirty minutes from Dublin where his brother and also his best friend works in the financial district. The property Conor lives on, though, belongs to his brother. When their parents passed, they left Conor his mother’s Claddagh ring and left his brother the property.

claddagh ring

Conor has never kept a woman around for more than one night. He just hasn’t wanted to. So after a night of drinking at a pub in Dublin, his brother and friend make a bet with him. They will choose a woman and in one week, ending on St. Patrick’s Day, she has to have fallen in love with him. If he wins, he will get the property. If he loses, he will lose the ring. The woman they choose is Clover.

bad luck

Clover O’Malley is anything but lucky. Nothing ever goes her way. Her luck is full of ladders and black cats and broken mirrors. She’s come to Ireland from America to find and photograph a rainbow. This rainbow will be the start of something new for her, it will turn her luck. Because things couldn’t get much worse. In the pub, when the good looking guy sat next to her, she couldn’t help but to like him, even though he was using every cheesy line there was. Maybe her luck was turning because it turns out that the reservation she has for the next day with a tour guide is none other than him!

“I’m chasing rainbows, but I’m scared I’m just going to end up lost.”

rainbow and a pot of gold

These two together were hotter than hot. Their initial attraction might have been physical but it quickly changed into something else.

“Clover is unrestrained, untethered, I truly feel as if I’ve met my match.”

Clover broke my heart. Perhaps some of it was her own doing but her luck really was bad. After she met Conor, you could just feel her waiting for something bad to happen.

“Clover, what just happened here, that wasn’t just luck.”
“No?”
“It wasn’t luck, lassie. That was perfection.”

four leaf clover

Conor falls for Clover hard. This is all uncharted territory for him. And he’s so afraid that when she finds out about the initial bet, she will run. How can he convince her that it only started out with a bet? That his feelings are real and true? How can he keep her from leaving?

This story is hot as heck and so darn cute. Conor may have been a bit of a man whore to start with but you can’t help but love him anyway. Especially the way he falls for Clover. And I loved Clover. The ending was perfect. Once again Frankie Love has made me sigh and smile and filled me with warm and fuzzies. This is a perfect book for the holiday and I’m so glad I picked it up.

“I don’t want to run anymore. It’s like, the moment I walked toward the unknown, the scary, the Conor, I found something life changing.

I found him.”

I just don't see the love happening.
Guy was a manwhore and he enjoyed being a manwhore.
Took heroine to where he takes all his ONS. Well he takes all of them home.
He had no reason to reform, he enjoyed sex with numerous OW. So apart from heroine just being off the chart batty and unlucky I don't see how she's different. Except of course the sex was perfection. I absolutely do not know what method they follow to determine that.
But seriously throughout the week, all he did was lie about rainbows and have sex. So pardon me if I'm having difficulty to find a trace of love in this book.

Not bad.. because accents. Wonderufl and swoon-worthy irish accents.

No idea why I'm reviewing this little series out of order but I have zero regrets since I flew threw them today. Rugged was so freaking short - I seriously wished it was longer! Mostly because.. the accents! Plus I felt like things were kind of rushed towards the end.

In it, you will meet Clover and Connor. Of course their little relationship all started with a bet but it was a damn good one. These two had instant connection even though they both thought it wasn't going to last that long. Didn't matter that Clover is from the USA and he's from Ireland.. because love is love dammit!

Overall, it was pretty cute. No idea if I think flying to Ireland for a rainbow was a smart idea or realistic but hey - it was a free book!

This is short and sweet. The narrator has an Irish accent which made it even better and there were plenty of hot romance scenes. I liked the alternating points of view between Connor and Clover and the plot was cute, if simple. Everything in Clover's life is going downhill so she decides to take a trip to Ireland and find a rainbow, hoping it will turn her luck around. The tour guide she books happens to be Connor, the hot Irish guy she met in the pub. The were cute together and the ending was a nice wrap up.

2.5 stars.
Sexy smut set in Ireland.
Conor and Clover.
He is a man whore before meeting Clover for anybody who might be interested in reading this seasonal (Saint Patrick's day) hot read.
I am personally OK with that aspect, as I never take these smutty novellas too seriously anyway.
It was an OK read, nothing special.

This is not a bad book but it is soo predictable. I am sorry 😐 because I normally love Frankie Love but this is complicated. I just got so mad at the fact I knew everything that was going to happen. Not the love but the entire story line. I will be a forever Frankie fan but this was a no for me.

2.5 stars - for reading a second book by this author I had higher hopes for more.

Clover spent 3 weeks looking for literal rainbows in Ireland and didn't find any. is it even possible that someone can spend that much time in a foreign land looking for rainbows?! what a waste of actual tourism.

this is the second book I've read by the author and like the other book I'm wishy-washy on my feelings. I kinda like the characters but there's something in the writing that bothers me. I'm not sure what exactly, maybe it's just not my style.. but I do know I hate when the characters repeat each other's names and nicknames so frequently.

the chemistry could've been much stronger between the two of them.

Clover doesn't seem like a photographer to me. before her hike we don't get any insight in what captures her photographer-eye. and when we do see her shooting it's a bit vague with not much passion. on their first night meeting, was there any mention of her camera bag when Conor threw her pack onto his truck bed? seems careless of her if it was with the rest of her stuff.

I'm also sad that the point of weather and appropriate clothing doesnt come up. in the scene where Conor mentions a 3 hour hike he doesn't include any details of what she should expect. friggin three hours! I must be the only person who would panic at the sound of that. shouldn't Clover be asking questions or Conor, the experienced guide be doling out prepping advice?

I love the sketch of the pint and clovers along with the typography chosen for their names at the beginning of each chapter. very whimsical.

why does it seem anytime it's mentioned that Clover is teasing it feels strained and awkward?

the end of the epilogue was sweet and satisfying. it's when I love lines like the following do I remember that I'm such a love sick sap :)

I previously read and reviewed Rugged when this book was formerly released/published as "His Lucky Charm".

P.S. I LOVE “HIS LUCKY CHARM: AN IRISH MOUNAIN MAN”. IT’S MAGICALLY DELICIOUS!!!!!! 5 LUCKY STARS ¸.•*(¸.•*´ ♥`*•.¸)`*•.

I absolutely adored “His Lucky Charm: An Irish Mountain Man. I mean, what’s NOT to love? I’ve just got to find me an Irish mountain man. Frankie Love not only knows her mountain men but throw in the luck of the Irish and I mean come on…. It’s a sure fire winner!!!!!!! She has a unique writing style that I just love.

Conor McGregor lives in the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin. He’s known as The Lucky Irishman for different reasons. He runs a tourist company, aptly named “The Lucky Irishman. He’s always able to find a rainbow on his tours and he’s also lucky with the ladies. He doesn’t do relationships. One night is enough for him.

He and his brother couldn’t be more different. Conor prefers the mountains and his brother lives in Dublin and works as an Accountant. Conor lives a simple life, enjoying the Wicklow Mountains. He believes that Ireland is the most beautiful country in the world. Patrick is the serious brother, never allowing himself to get out and enjoy his life.

After the death of their parents, the land they owned was left to Patrick in hopes that he found a way to enjoy life. Whereas Conor was left his “Mams” ring in hopes that he would find a wife. Conor lives in a cabin on his brother’s land. Well, it’s more of a barn. A very plain, minimal rustic barn. He’s comfortable there but would like to build a house there but his brother won’t allow him to do that.

After meeting up with Patrick and Sean (Conor’s best friend) in Dublin at a local pub, Conor is baited into taking a bet. They bet that Conor is not able to hold onto a girl and make them fall in love with him at the end of 1 week. That’s a bet he can’t turn down. Especially when the stakes are so high. If he wins the bet, his brother will turn over his land to Conor. If he loses, he has to turn over Mams ring to Patrick. Of course, there is a catch. Patrick and Sean get to choose the girl and it has to be a girl from the pub that night.

In walks Clover O’Malley. She’s from the United States on vacation. Well, not so much a vacation and more like a mission. You see, Clover is having a run of bad luck. I mean REALLY REALLY bad luck. Honestly, she must have a black cloud following her around because her bad luck is the worst. Her mission is to find a rainbow in Ireland and photograph the perfect one. Once she finds her rainbow, she leaving to go back to the states. The very place where her life was turned upside down and she lost everything. She’s hoping once she does find her rainbow, that good luck will rain down on her and turn her life around.

When Patrick and Sean see her in the pub, they choose her immediately and Conor is up for the task. Game on!!!!!!

That’s just the first 2 chapters… What happens after that? I’m not telling. It’s just much so fun that you need to read it for yourself. I will say this. What Clover and Conor don’t know yet is that Conor is that the tour guide she hired to help her find her rainbow the very next morning.

Be prepared to laugh…. A lot….. Clover’s first encounter with Conor is absolutely hilarious. I’m talking, gut cramping laughs. Clover is so funny and her witty banter with her inner self and with Conor turns out to be her specialty. I will never think of “meat pie” the same, ever again. These two are instantly attracted to one another. The hilarity continues as Conor convinces Clover to go with him to his “cabin” and have a romp in the woods. Since there is nowhere available for her to stay, she takes him up on both his offers.

What begins as a bet for Conor turns out to be something so much more. For both of them. What happens when the truth is revealed about the bet. Will Clover return to the states unlucky in life, unlucky in love? Or will Clover and Conor finally get lucky and find that “Rainbow” they’ve been looking for? That would be a perfect ending to this story but you will have to buy the book to find out.

Silly shenanigans, hot and sexy romps in the woods, searches for rainbows make for a very funny, very hot and sexy read. This may have been a quick read but it’s packed with tons of charm, lots hope of findings rainbows and pots of gold and is so hilarious at times that my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. Not to mention that my favorite movie P.S. I Love You is mentioned and referenced in the book and well that just made me smile. It’s such a charming and endearing read. It was really fun to read this book. Clover just may be my most favorite Frankie Love character ever.

I'm glad I "One Clicked" this book. You should do the same. I highly recommend it.

When Conor's brother and his best friend bet him he cannot keep a woman for a week straight, Connor goes along with the craziness, why not?! He is the luckiest guy around!
That is until the guys pick out the women he has to convince to stay with him.
Clover, a sarcastic, beautiful, put you in your place American- the minute she speaks, he is entranced and nervous. This might be best and worst thing that has ever happened the both of them.
How Lucky are we?!
This story is a yummy mix of a hot Irish Mountain man with a lucky streak, plenty of witty banter, dirty talk, copious amounts of hot scenes and a whole lotta feels with an American woman trying to find her rainbow and just maybe that pot of gold at the end of it.
I have this obsession with Irishmen. There I said it. SIGH. I love this sexy, fast paced story with a case of the feels!
Another Frankie Love original to add to my collection favorites!

Luck of the Irish

Connor is very lucky, happy-go-lucky even. He and his partner have a successful touring company called the Lucky Irishman Tours, tourists and local lassies are only too happy to jump into his bed. The only thing missing is owning the land his cabin is built on. He inherited his granny's ring while his brother got the land. Then, just before St. Patrick's Day, his brother makes him a bet: stay involved with a woman of his choosing for one week and he'll swap inheritances with him. It's on!
Clover is very unlucky. Her life is a series of bad breaks, self-doubt, and betrayals. Even her name is ironic. She's in Ireland to try and change that by taking a picture of a rainbow and creating some beautiful photos to turn around her career. Guess who Connor's brother picks for the bet? Guess who Clover has chosen to help her find her rainbow? Both of them get more than they bargained for.

Clover needs to change her luck so she decides to take a trip to Ireland to find a rainbow and leave her cheating ex-boyfriend behind her. Conor is having drinks at a bar with his brother and his best buddy and they bet him that he can’t put up with the same woman for a week and they get to choose the woman. In walks Clover and their lives will never be the same again but what happen if Clover finds out about the bet? I loved the banter and the chemistry between the characters. Rugged is pure mountain man romance. Conor is a hot, lucky Irishman who just wants to live on the land and enjoy his country. Clover is a girl who thinks luck is never on her side and has a dark cloud hanging over her head. She just wants to shoot a rainbow and get on with her life. Until she meets Conor. A bet puts them together but it's really fate that seals their love. Although it doesn't come without a little heartbreak, a grown man crying always pulls at my heart strings, their sweet HEA makes it all worthwhile. A sweet & sexy spicy novel about a Irish Mountain Man who finds his pot of gold in a women named Clover & he wants her to be his rainbow. A decadently delicious & scrumptious novel that takes place in the beautiful countryside of Ireland with vivid description's. A beautifully crafted romance novel with a bit if humour & that is well developed with no plot holes. With character's that have there own charm. Clover is sassy, & luck is never on her side. Conner is sweet & sexy & who they call The Lucky Irishman. I volunteerly reviewed an advanced reading copy of this novel.

Parts of this book straight up CRACKED ME UP. Seriously. OMG. Of course there was also seriously hot, steamy, kindle-melting scenes as well. This whole story put a smile on my face. Frankie really painted a pretty picture of the area they were in, and I loved all the little Irish things throughout. I recommend this book, it's a feel good, hea, dual pov, sexy mountain man book you will love,

Clover's luck changes thanks to a bet between brothers. She came to Ireland looking for rainbows but ended up finding so much more.

Conor has his heart set on the property his parents left his brother. He has no idea that an American girl is about to steal his heart.

This was a super sweet romance with the steam that we expect from Frankie Love. The characters are so well-developed and realistic that I was actually hearing an Irish accent while reading!

Can I say how sexy Frankie Love's mountain men are? Seriously no one does it better than her. She is simply everything. From her plot to her romance and smut she is basically mastered the ability to give you a story with all components and an HEA. Conor is beyond Alpha hot, Clover's sassy and sarcasm will be a breath of fresh air and their love story is simply going to leave you in awe. LOVED this.

U enjoyed this story. Yeah I know Conor was a man whore and he loved his manwhoring ways..And he never considered even wanting to settle down till he met Clove. I thought it was sweet. Not annoying or to OTT since I don't take these books to seriously to begin with. it's all part of the fun and fantasy.

Is it wrong that every time I read Conor's parts I heard him in my head sounding like Jamie from the Outlander? Ireland, Scotland, who cares....Oh well, that's just my fantasy.

Not lucky for me

I am so sad. I was really looking forward to reading this book because I absolutely adored the first one. Unfortunately this one just didn’t do it for me. I did not like either of the lead characters from the beginning. He was just gross sleeping with a different tourist every night and she just felt so gruff. No matter how much I pushed on reading I just never connected with them. I really hope this was a fluke and the next one is as great as the first.

Derrick and Mallory are really cute in this story. Mallory is in town for a bachelorette party for one of her best friends when she talks Derrick up. Liking him they spend time together but Derrick is experiencing his own internal hell. Will his time with Mallory help keep his demons at bay and can they make something happen during her time in town that could take her away from the single life? Great book Frankie! Conor's not my favorite mountain man, but he has secured himself into the #2 spot. I think we can all see Clover in ourselves as we're trying to find our path. It has an equal sticky sweet and hotness. I think this is very well written and does a great job of telling their story.

Very cute 😊

This was a quick, sexy read. I enjoyed the sassy banter between Conor and Clover. I could've done without the extreme sexual banter (sounded more like 'men's porn' than women's steamy romance), but that's just my own preference.
