My name is Mike Raven, but the world knows me as the Shadow Detective...
Orphaned by demons at the age of ten, I have dedicated my life to fighting the forces of darkness. Trained by one of the greatest monster hunters who ever lived, and armed with an arsenal of mystical weapons, I battle forces beyond human understanding. Trust me, it’s not as glamorous as it sounds.
A new nightmare stalks the Cursed City...
My latest case is like nothing I’ve ever faced before. A supernatural serial killer is terrorizing the city, magically removing victims’ skulls without cutting the skin. The police are baffled, and that’s why they called me. What monster is collecting these skulls and what horrible black magic ritual is it all leading up to?
I’ve seen things that would terrify the most hardened homicide detective. I’ve fought crazed occultists, banished evil spirits and sent a demon or two back to hell. But nothing could have prepared me for the wrath of the Skull Master.
Skull Master is an action-packed book written by William Massa. The author developed an interesting plot that followed a good pace. The pace was more on the faster side and definitely never felt like it was dragging out. The plot is imaginative and interesting and there are a couple of twists in there that I didn’t see coming. There are a couple of editorial errors that need to be corrected but other than that the book is very well written. Our main character Raven, sure gets the short end of the stick and you can’t help but feel for him. You wonder though how much he is affected by what he is going through and how much he can trust himself. He does find a way to deal with his situation but you sure wonder how much longer he can continue the way that things are. I for one am curious to see what will happen next and will continue on my binge reading experience.
It's been a month since Raven found out he now shares his body with the demon Cyon, it has not been a fun time!! While trying to keep his secret, he finds himself hunting the Skull Master, as once again the Cursed City finds its self under threat from the dark underworld. This is a fast paced story, as Raven's world is about to be shattered!! Can he save his friend's and the city, whilst co-existing with Cyon? Good edition to the series, that continues to develop nicely.
This fifth entry in this great series only serve to fortify it's status. The main character his still evolving, still fun and his adventures are still interesting. The plot is (as always) action pack and fast paced. The writing style of William Massa is very clean, flowing and super engaging. As I stated before, this series as change my views of Urban Fantasy (for the better) and more importantly as become a go-to series for me. Start reading ASAP and it just might become one for you.
All I can say is this is one of the best books on this series yet. Raven has fought the fight and continues but it seems like life no matter how hard he fights, the harder he can sometimes fall. The ending has me ready to read the next because I have to know what happens next.
Another great read with twists and turns right through the book. Like each of the books, the immediate bad guy gets defeated in the end, but a deeper story weaves right through and that ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
I was aware of typos in this book, but the storyline and writing was so good that I happily forgave it.
Well written and well thought out. William Massa continues his cursed city series by extending the characters off his other books and bringing them to an interesting turning point. It will be interesting to see where the series goes from here.
The skull master is tense and thrilling, I read it all in one go. I would recommend this (along will all his other books) to anyone. Thanks again William Massa! You the man.
A fast read. The Crimson Circle is back . Cursed City appears to be in serious danger . Raven is still possessed . He is tracking a skull master demon. Can he win the race .
An enjoyable and easy read in this paranormal series by the prolific William Massa. More of a long novella than a novel in length so did not take too long to read. Will read more in this series to find out what happens to the unfortunate demon hunter, Raven.
I'm enjoying this series. At first I thought it was a male version of Buffy which would have been fine with me, but the author keeps surprising me and though the first book is a solid read, the series improves as it goes along.
