I just find it slow. I keep reading the story because I like the Jackson, Tessa story arc. But everything is just too slow. This book is over 300 pages and maybe 3 events happen. I won't tell you what they are because that would spoil it but suffice it to say there isn't a lot going on.
Review of: Dark Angel’s Obsession #14 Dark Angel’s Seduction #15 Dark Angel’s Surrender #16 I.T. Lucas’ Children of the God’s Series
Series catchup: From the beginning of time there have been near immortal beings who have molded humanity, been the object of worship but who as a race almost destroyed each other and human civilization. Now only two Gods are left both sworn enemies: The followers of Morta, the Doomers and the descendants of the Goddess Annani.
The Dark Angel’s trilogy is the story of the Guardian Burndar and a human, Calypso. Brundar is not a stranger to readers but he is an enigma and his tragic past, aversion to being touched and need for kinky sex is finally revealed. Calypso (Callie) however is an open book and her openness and adventurous side is just what the dark brooding Brundar needs, even though he’d never admit it. This series continues to wow me at every turn and Lucas keeps it fresh by adding new twists, new possible dormants both obvious and some readers don’t see coming. Her imaginative narrative, inventive continuing world building, fantastic side stories and scenes that are unbelievably believable propel the story. And of course there are her larger than life characters that rule every page. This series is one that you must read in order.
SUMMARY: Ever since the chance meeting when Callie and her husband Shawn tried to get into the sex club he co-owns, Brundar’s been obsessed with her and had a bad feeling about her husband. So he takes it upon himself to be her stealthy stalker protector. He can’t understand his fixation with this human woman, he only knows he’ll move heaven and earth to make sure she’s safe even if that means getting to know her personally and breaking a few of his, not getting involved, rules to do it. Callie knows she made a mistake marrying Shawn, knows she needs to get out of this marriage because even though he’s never touched her she senses a darkness in him and she knows he’ll never let her go without a fight. She knows she needs help getting away and there just happens to be a tall dark and brooding, sex on a stick guy who may be able to help her. Meanwhile back at the keep there’s a lot going on, the clan is trying to discover who is committing terrible murders, they need to learn if it’s a human pretending to be a vampire, or if it’s an immortal gone mad. The construction of the clan’s new village is under way and members are busy picking homes. Plus the continuing drama of Roni and Sylvia and Tessa and Jackson are unfolding at warp speed
Brundar and Callie/Calypso's love story begins. We get to dive into Brundars past just enough to see what makes him the man he is today. A tragic experience as a child leaves him a cold, distant and unemotional man he is today. Callie is married to an emotionally and verbally abusive husband and she knows she has to get away before he becomes physically abusive. She is strong and upbeat and outgoing. Brundar and Callie have some kind of a connection. It seems Callie has a way with breaking down some of the walls Brundar has. Brundar is conflicted because he knows there can never be a relationship with a human. I hope Callie is a Dormant. Brundar deserves happiness and a fated mate would help him get through the trauma of his past. Can't wait to see how their relationship progresses. Jackson is still one of my favorites. He is so patient, hopeful, and a romantic. Him and Tessa are made for each other. Tessa is slowly allowing herself some passion. I love seeing their love progress.
I’m definitely starting to feel like the books should be longer with so much going on. The way the start and stop drags out the timeline overall and makes it feel like things that should be happening at a faster pace are taking months to get any info on.
The way it is, Losham has traveled from the states to the island and back, opened up several sex clubs across the world, had at least 5 women killed in like a week or so timeframe and started a cult. Meanwhile, Kian and the gang has made zero progress in their investigation of the murdered civilian or of the women and immediately dismissed the idea off of on comment from Robert that the perpetrator could be a Doomer…completely dismissing the fact that Dalhu has already said that they are trained to obey orders without question and the fact that Losham had been spotted IN one of the mysterious new nightclubs and all other facts surrounding the situation. It makes them all look incredibly stupid.
Then there’s the thing that’s going on with Tessa and Jackson basically put on the back burner to star Brundar and Calypso. After running into a guy who looks like her last tormentor and after Eva told her about the guy saying he was looking for her and that she killed his brother, she told no one but Jackson and just let it all go. So the guy left Tampa and came across the states to San Fran and she didn’t tell anyone important so they could pull security footage and find out if he is indeed who she thought he could possibly be? And now she’s going to continue running around the city, alone during the day, while this dude is so close?
Then we have Roni’s situation going on as well!! I understand what is trying to be done here and a little overlap is fine, but there are so many unfinished situations happening while another is being introduced. Brundar’s story could have waited a spell because we still have Eva’s other two and possibly Hannah still to delve into. Not to mention Robert.
Too much going on and the books are starting to leave me unsatisfied with how they are closed out. Not even one MAJOR thing is being resolved, let alone a minor one before the book ends.
I digress. See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
Dark Angel’s Obsession KU 304 pgs **** 7/4/21 Brundar & Cassie
4 stars even with a lot of impertinent filler pages. The book, as usual is about all the main characters, not just one couple, but mainly Brundar & Cassie in this one. Their story is so interesting and so sexy, great magnetic chemistry and I love both of them. He is so stoic, not much personality for sure but down deep, I think there is a very soft side that we haven’t gotten to yet. I love the almost sex, very hot… Losham (Doomer), not much on him except his plan goes on to attempt to capture a Guardian by having some sort of killing spree with humans. Roni/Sylvia, I must have missed something or part of the story was left out as Roni decided he would join the Klan and there wasn’t anything mentioning his previous misgivings about being used. He is still struggling with everything that goes along with joining the Klan, he is only 18 in human years so he has a lot of growing up to do. I do like him and I think he will be a huge asset to the storyline in this series. Looking forward to the next book, this one was a little short for me.
This was a great story of Brundar and Cally. Unfortunately she is human but Brundar just cannot stay away from her. She is in a marriage that is volatile and getting worse by the day so when Brundar steps in and offers to help her escape she lets him help her.
Also in this book we get to find out why Brundar is the way he is. Where the "coldness" in him stems from. I.T. Lucas really does a phenomenal job with Brundar's character development in this one making him come alive for the reader and making you feel for him. Caring about what he had been through, making more real.
I've read a lot of other series and this one is definitely on a realm of being the cream of the crop. The only explanation for that is for how talented I.T.Lucas is. I would absolutely recommend this book and it's series. Mr. Lucas thanks so much for sharing your talent. I really enjoyed this one!! ~ A Faithful Reader
The Children of the Gods series has me hooked. I greatly enjoy reading each and every series on the individual characters within the clan and this series #14, #15, #16 was no different.
Of all of the books I have read within this series so far this 3 books did take me the longest to read though. Not for the lack of quality but to calm my mental state throughout the read. This story is a beautifully dark and powerful read between Brundar and Calypso and getting to the conclusion was such an emotional relief.
Please note that when starting this series, some facets of the story may be triggering to some readers. But the story is beautifully done and elicits the emotions necessary to bring the reader to care about not only the characters involved directly but the characters in the background.
By far, this is THE. BEST. VAMPIRE. SERIES. EVER. The enigmatic Brundar’s story is finally told. Wounded and betrayed at a young age, he has walled himself off from all feeling and entanglements. It is only when he meets the equally wounded Callie that he finds these walls lowering, whether he wants them to or not. And like the mythological Calypso, she calls to him the way no other woman ever has. Will he allow himself the happiness he has always richly deserved, or will he continue his isolated life and wind up breaking two hearts? I am behind on this series, but that is not necessarily a bad thing because now I can read the entire trilogy without having to wait. Kudos, I.T. Lucas, for writing another masterpiece in this epic saga. Each one is better than the last.
I am addicted to this series, and the Dark Angel story line is among my favorite, just after Dark Stranger (the origin of the series). The series is rich with characters with such varying personalities. It is unlike other predictable adult romances which have repetitive character's personalities and plot points. This book in particular has some gritty and dark themes that really draw you into the story and give it substance. I only wish the books were longer. Thankfully they come out quickly so you don't have to wait long. I also love that the author always checks in with other characters from the series so you can keep up to date with your past favorites.
I didn’t particularly like any book from the “Dark Angel” part of this series. I don’t like Bruntar and Calypo’s story at all. I didn’t feel any love from Bruntar. It felt like lust, and obligation. Bruntar was attracted to Calypso. He desperately wanted to have sex with her always. However, he felt bitter towards her because he felt like she was changing him. He was angry when she tried to ask questions and get to know him. He blew up when she found out he was lying and called him out on it. The only reason he never left her is because he felt guilty for potentially hurting her and because he wanted to have more sex with her. I felt bad for Callie. She got the short end of the stick and Bruntar didn’t treat her right. He also didn’t love her, in my opinion.
This book was slower than the others and just didn't hold me in the same way. That doesn't mean that it wasn't good. To the contrary it is far above similar books in this genre. Brundar is a complex character and it's good to see the ice melting. Caller must be a Dormant for him to react to her this way but the only indication is that her mother either died of disappeared when she was a baby and left her father grieving for years. This seems to be a standard for immortal women who are alone in the world. I like forward to the next book but I hope it has more action.
Awesome! I'm really excited to read Brundar's story, he is still a mystery. It was hard to read why Brundar don't like people touching him. I can't imagine the horror he may have felt when his so-called friend dragged him down and raped him. I'm still angry because children are sexually abused everyday in this country by people they know. There is a place in hell for people that rape, sexually abuse or raise a hand to a child for their sexually inadequacies. I'm glad Brundar is trying to heal, and I hope he finds a way to be with Callie. They belong together.
I really enjoyed the particular book of the series. Reading about the mysterious Brundar meeting and rescue of Callie, I was not sure it could live up to other couples in the books of this past series. I became so enthralled in their story, before I knew it I was at the end of this book. I can't wait to read on further to see what happens next with this couple in this somewhat insecure relationship. The anticipation about what's to become of all the great characters within this, Children of The Gods Paranormal series keeps my expectation up, wanting for more.
Brundar and Calypso are not the typical romance couple: he is stoic and almost unemotional, she still retains her sunny disposition while being married to an emotionally abusive husband. The two seem like an unlikely couple, yet they connect on all levels especially the physical one. Perhaps their broken pieces mesh. While the romance begins to flourish, it is obvious that things are just beginning for Callie and Brundar, and that Book 15 will bring more excitement to their romance. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Even though there are parts of this story of the Immortals that I would like to see how the conclusions end, unfortunately I'm starting to feel that other parts of what the author is writing about, I couldn't care less. At some point, most of us will lose interest and seek other tales to read. I'm still rating this pretty good, but I can't promise how much longer I'll be into the Immortals!
Love this book ! I've read them all ! A good book for summer by the pool or even curled up in a comfy chair near the fireplace ! This book is not !!!! For mature adults only ! Very explicit love scenes ! I love Brundar and Calypsos story . This is just the beginning ! I can't wait to see what is in store for them in the next book - number 15 ! .I.T. LUCAS YOUR A CUT ABOVE THE REST !!!! Thanks for the series !!!!!
Dark Angel's Obsession--OMG!! (Possible Spoilers... Again)
I am officially in love with Brundar!!
His story, almost like Tessa's, is sad and tragic. I don't know if it's worse or just as bad when sexual assault happens to boys...but I almost wanted to cry for him.
I love that Callie is breaking down his walls and I really hope she turns out to be a Dormant. It would be awesome if Brundar could have a fated/true love match.
This is the beginning of three of my favorite books of this series. Brundar stole my heart from the beginning of my reading this series. There was a broodiness about him that made me feel that something traumatic happened early in his life. Calypso came into his life like a ray of sunlight. The two of them are made for each other. Dark Angel’s Obsession #14 Dark Angel’s Seduction #15 Dark Angel’s Surrender #16 I.T. Lucas’ Children of the God’s Series is well worth reading.
I love this series. However, this one should come with a warning. This 3 book series is Ok. The problem I have is the dominance / submission story line. But as a woman who still deals with PTSD to a dominant man, this story line was uncomfortable. It seemed that they were normalizing this behavior. I guess it was the club that concerned me the most. The potential for abuse is to great. Just beware if you like me have issues.
I enjoyed finding out about Brundar in this book and Calypso is a great new character, but something about this book isn't gelling with me. Maybe the next will help fill in what is missing here. Roni is a pain in the proverbial, but I kinda feel sorry for him as everyone just uses him for his big brain. Roll on book 15.
Brundar, sweet, stoic, beautiful Brundar made me cry. Callie is strong and exactly what he needs in his life. I never thought that his story was so horrible and he is a real survivor. Tessa story has nothing on his. He is far worst. You have to read to understand what I’m talking about. Don’t missed because you will regret it.
I want to say that this series is awesome and I love that I still see the other characters even when getting to know the new ones. Poor Brundar. That scene just killed me to go through but it explains a lot. I can’t wait to see him finally process what he went through.
Dark Angels Obsession (The Children Of The Gods Book14)
I loved Brundar and Calypso's story so far, he is so closed off from everyone. Brundar cannot even bare to let someone shake his hand but Calypso's getting under his skin and he cannot stop touching her. I love that as much as he is fighting it,he wants to keep her. This Was A really good one!
I am.enjoying this series because, it is a fantasy, I would compare it an an adult fairy tale. With some adventure and good and bad scenes and people with multi levels and depths of character. And I like that I don't have to wait weeks or months to continue the story
Brundar has been a favorite of mine since w beginning of this series. I love the way he is strong yet vulnerable. Callie is the perfect woman for him. Both have been hurt and deceived by people who claimed to care for them. Brundar deserves a love of his own. I look forward to the next installment in this intriguing series!
I love this book and I love this character. This is one you would not want to miss. The silent angel looking warrior, never smiles. He is the most lethal guardian the clan has that guards Kien, the son of the clan mother, who is the head of the clan in their location. Don’t Mrs. fucking find out lots of history on him.
Dark Angels Obsession (Children Of The Gods Book 14) by I T Lucas. Boundary meets Callie and encourages her to leave her husband before he turns his violence towards her. Boundary and Callie are becoming close. Roni is in hospital but with pneumonia not transitioning to immortality.
Wow, just wow. I have been patiently waiting for Brundar's story and it did not disappoint! All the speculation was not even close. I can't wait for the next installment of his story. WOW!
This series just keeps me getting on the edge of my seat. Brundar and Cassie are great but I smell trouble coming. What the heck is going on with Ron ? I can't wait to read the next book. Jackson and Tessa are so cute . I hope it's not much longer for the next books.
I'm glad that the author is focusing on Brundar's story. He is the most mysterious Guardian and the darkest. His obsession with Callie is the driving force for this installment. There's light BDSM however there are some scenes that may be disturbing for some readers. This series just gets better.
