From Anxiety to Love: A Radical New Approach for Letting Go of Fear and Finding Lasting Peace

Rate this book
Get Ready for Unstoppable Inner Peace

Author Corinne Zupko undertook her study of psychology out of necessity when debilitating anxiety threatened to derail her life. Seeking ways to do more than temporarily alleviate her symptoms, Corinne began to study A Course in Miracles (ACIM), mindfulness meditation, and the latest therapeutic approaches for treating anxiety. In From Anxiety to Love, she shares what she learned and gently guides you through the process, helping you undo anxiety-based thinking and fostering mindful shifts in your thoughts and actions. Whether struggling with everyday stress or near-crippling discomfort, you will find that Corinne’s approach offers a new way of healing from — rather than just coping with — fear and anxiety.

This is a stunning, beautifully written book that comes from the heart and the soul of this wonderful author. The book is so relatable and filled with insights and aha moments and helpful hints for life - I will be reading it over and over and doing the practices/exercises over and over again. While this book does talk of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) and as a student of ACIM, this appealed to me immensely, it is not necessary to know anything about ACIM in order to read it and benefit from it's beautiful writing and stories and exercises. Also, as a mom of an 11 year old son with anxiety, it has helped me become a better parent and helped me learn from my wonderful, creative son. I could go on and on about how much I love this book and it's author and I think everyone in the world should read it, even kids - in fact I got this book for my 13 year old niece.

Corinne Zupko is a licensed counselor who has struggled with debilitating anxiety. Based on her experiences working through A Course in Miracles with a sprinkle of psychology, New Age spiritualism, and counseling, she mixes her personal experience into the techniques found in From Anxiety to Love. This book is geared towards people who have debilitating anxiety which severely affects their daily lives. If traditional psychology has not worked, this book offers an alternative look at anxiety and how to address it. It is presented in three parts.

Part 1 the Descent into Anxiety. It’s about how the severely anxious person feels and views the world. She reassures the reader with statements like “You are not your fear, your anxiety, or your worry. You may feel that these things define you, because they are really good at capturing and overpowering your attention.” (p8-9). The chapters in this section offer activities and questions to reflect on.

Part 2 is the Ascent into Peace. She offers three steps to healing – “be willing to see the problem differently, give your willingness to see the problem differently over to the inner therapist and ask for a miracle, and rest in trust that it is done.” Then she offers five steps in handing it over and five more steps in strengthening your choice. From there she offers different ways of shifting the way to think in order to address issues and then giving five more ways to shift the way to think. In this part she brings in the practice of meditation. Her meditations are broad strokes rather than a guided meditation. Unfortunately there are no descriptions for the first time or beginner person for meditating. She jumps in and has the person deep breathing with no instructions on what to expect or how to achieve a meditative state.

In Part 3 she discusses Putting it all Together. This section is an overview of the technique. She discusses miracles in action. She says “Everything I’ve written mean squat unless it is lived and put into action.” (p143). In this section she writes about scenarios one might face and how her technique can help work through the scenarios.

The writing is easy to read, conversational in tone. She writes in a manner which will connect for most readers. In the opening of the book she describes a debilitating panic attack where she is curled on the floor crying. Her mother talks her through the attack. For those with severe anxiety, this is an excellent way to connect with the readers. As a licensed counselor, her job is to listen and guide rather than tell the person how to fix their problems.

It’s important the reader understands this was Zupko’s story of how she worked through her own anxiety using A Course in Miracles. A Course in Miracles was created in 1976 by Helen Schucman, an American clinical and research psychologist. Schucman produced this because she heard an inner voice which she felt was the voice of Jesus. Zupko rehashes this earlier work into her own version. While Zupko has a background in psychology, there is little in the way of actual science behind her technique. Throughout the book, she discusses the ego; however, this does not appear to be a discussion based on the Freudian concept of Ego but of an amalgamation of her own beliefs of ego, a bit of sloppiness which can cause some confusion.

As a self-help book this is an interesting concept but the reader should be aware it is not based in psychological theory or counseling practices. It is, in fact, the author’s own steps to coping with debilitating anxiety.

If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. It's excellent; very practical with easy to apply principles. I found the exercises illuminating and very beneficial. I would recommend it for non-Course and A Course in Miracles' students. I loved it.

LOVE this book. Corinne writes with intelligence and heart about a subject that affects so many of us. Her anecdotes are relatable and the exercises are approachable. This book is like having a friend take you by the hand to lead you out of suffering and into contentment. From Anxiety to Love is a must-have for anyone languishing at the hands of panic and anxiety. I walked away with a fresh take on my own abilities to handle something that, for so long, has left me feeling helpless and alone. I can do this! And I am recommending this book to all my friends too.

Absolute beautiful book! I love how Corinne doesn't make any compromises with the teachings of A Course in Miracles. She never tries to bring the Truth to the illusion but always the illusion to the Truth. She has many, very practical tips on how to undo all the blocks of fear that keeps us from the awareness of Love's presence.

I read about fear and love in Anxiety Rx: A New Prescription for Anxiety Relief from the Doctor Who Created It by Dr Russell Kennedy. This made sense in the very short mention it receives in Anxiety Rx. This urged me to dig deeper and ultimately I landed on A Course in Miracles (or ACIM as revealed to Helen Schucman.

Corinne Zupko uses the basic principles of the essential goodness of God and ALL his creations and the intricate relation/ opposition of love and fear that she found in Helen Schucman and ACIM.

"From Anxiety to Love" offers a radical approach to dealing with anxiety and fear. The author, Corinne Zupko, shares her personal experience with anxiety and how she was able to overcome it by using the principles of A Course in Miracles. She explains how the Course teaches us to shift our perspective from fear to love, and how this shift can lead to lasting peace.

Zupko provides practical exercises and meditations that can help readers apply the principles of the Course to their own lives. She also shares stories from others who have successfully used these teachings to overcome anxiety and find peace.

Overall, "From Anxiety to Love" offers a fresh perspective on dealing with anxiety and fear, and provides readers with a practical guide for finding lasting peace.

This book is amazing! It gently guides the reader through so many helpful and positive practices to heal anxiety at its root cause. What really struck me about this book is how comforting it was just to read it. Corinne Zupko, the author, writes in such a loving and compassionate voice that you can’t help but feel hopeful about healing. There is no judgment here; just sound advice and effective tools for healing. I especially loved the mind-straightening mantras and meditations offered in each chapter, and there are journal exercises and more. If you are a student of the Course dealing with anxious thoughts, this will be an indispensable book of help for you. However, I realized after finishing the book that there is so much great information here, it would help anyone who reads it, even if you are not necessarily one who has anxiety or are not a student of the Course. There is something here for everyone. Corinne has done an amazing job guiding us through our own thoughts and finding a place of peace on the other side.

"From Anxiety to Love" is a miracle of our time infused with all of the necessary ingredients to create inner change. Inspired by "A Course In Miracles" (ACIM), a psychological and spiritual text, Corinne has created an easy read containing activities that kept me on task and motivated me to take positive actions. As a student of ACIM, myself, since the late 1980's, I highly recommend this book. I only regret that it was unavailable when I started studying ACIM over thirty years ago. For the estimated forty million adults in the United States currently suffering from anxiety, "From Anxiety to Love" is a must read. I strongly agree with Robert Rosenthal, MD, Board Certified Psychiatrist and Author, who said “From Anxiety to Love rests on ACIM principles and will lead the reader into a radical system of not just thought change, but mind change.” I know it changed me.

Truly helpful book.
After hearing Corrine speak at a Miracle Network conference I was inspired to purchase From Anxiety to Love. What a Spirit lead decision it was! The book not only details how the principles of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) can be applied to lived experiences of anxiety but also provides an expanded explanation of those principles to help understand ACIM better. It is a workbook as such, which is what is needed to help bring about a change in perception to overcome anxiety and open us up to Love.
In addition to the written book I have found the audible version very helpful for reinforcing the guidance contained in the book.
All in all I would I think this is a truly helpful book and one I would recommend.

Liberating, worthwhile read! I've not been a student of ACIM nor an anxiety patient. Still, I found the suggestions useful in everyday situations, such as dentist appointments and hiking where there could be poisonous snakes, so I can explore and enjoy this Wonderland more at ease. The book offers simple yet powerful ways we can heal core wounds to find pure Divine Love underneath it all, trust our Selves, and set our Sacred Spirits free!

When writing psychological and self help material from the experiential level one does not stray into fantasy, so it might be hard for a fantasist to recognize the immense psychological and self help value to those who struggle with anxiety, Corrine Zupko, the brave author of this very real self help book brings to those who suffer with anxiety. It is an honest, and sincere offering presented by this author, which I found truly illuminating and extremely helpful as have so many others. Laura La

A Course in Miracles is a resource encouraging a psycho-spiritual expanding. This book speaks directly to the unique needs, experience, and tools helpful in utilizing ACIM to heal, understand, reframe, and work with our hyper-anxious mind. I am a two fisted reader and have such a huge pile of books to get to I rarely ever reread a book more than once. I am going to put this book on the shelf for a while, allow the lessons to seep in and reread it is that rich for me and my hyper-anxious mind.
