Guzzi Duet #2

Entangled

Rate this book
Gian Guzzi has everything a mafia boss could want, but it comes with strings. He shouldn’t be wasting time on a redhead he can’t have, when men like him are not allowed to be affected by silly things like love. A boss’s job is never done, and Gian has far better things to worry about—what with someone wanting him dead, and someone else wanting him in prison for good. Yet, he keeps risking it all for one more taste of Cara Rossi.

A man without love is no man at all.

Cara Rossi is left devastated by the things Gian Guzzi didn’t say. She also can’t forget all the things he did say. She needs to focus on moving on from him, not falling right back into his bed once more. Then again, reality has a way of ruining those plans with far more beautiful, unexpected things. Even if it means Cara is forced to question everything, from her morals to her reputation. All to be one woman to one man.

A woman without respect is a dirty word.

Duty. Legacy. Love.
Always in that order.
Or … that’s how it should be.

But life is messy, when entangled with love.
Rules don’t apply.

✼✼✼ 5 “I wanna be Mrs. Guzzi” Stars ✼✼✼

“His soul was entangled with a woman who no longer wanted him, even if he would still die for her. Gian had no one to blame for that but himself.”

Ain’t that the truth. Where we left off in Unraveled , Cara had found out the truth about Gian’s situation. She found out that they had no real future, not one that she would dream of. Bottom line: he lied to her, even if it was a lie of omission. Her reputation was smeared and her heart was broken. So was Gian’s. In Entangled , it was obvious that Gian couldn’t let go of Cara. His heart and soul were tied to her, but he knew that if they were to ever try again, she would have to come to him. It was also evident that Cara was still very much in love with him. So I couldn’t have been happier when they reconnected and rekindled their passionate affair.

“I have only ever loved you.” - Gian

Now, I’m not sure if those words, as believable as they are, would be enough for me to overlook a wife. Not my personal pleasure, however, I was all for it with this couple. There was no denying the love and passion and overall oneness shared between them. It virtually seeped from the pages. It left this poor reader a little envious, if I were being completely honest. Yeah, so what if Cara was a goomah? She really did get the best from her man. She may not carry his name, but she got his time, affection, loyalty and dedication. And his wife got what again? Not his heart. Not his soul. Cara was his everything.

“He loved her crazy, but she didn’t entirely know why. He loved her stupid, and she liked it too much. It was all kinds of bad. They were all kinds of wrong. Maybe that’s just how they were supposed to be.”

I’m not all too familiar with mob culture other than what I’ve seen in movies or from the Sopranos, but why was there so much hoopla about appearances? It felt so utterly old school. Who cares if he’s separated from his wife? Who cares that they don’t live together? The fact that Gian spent even one night in that mansion with that woman made me so angry. I was fuming Every. Single. Time!! Everyone… and I mean EVERYONE… seemed to know that he was with and in love with Cara. It was understood. It was more than apparent to the most oblivious person alive. Why then… WHY… was her existence given less importance when no one even knew his wife??? She was a freaking figurehead!! If anything aggravated my last nerve in this story, it was this.

Bethany-Kris gave us a story full of drama, suspense, betrayals, love and endless sexual desire. It was also full of mafia subtext that made it read like a serial or a movie. It would definitely be something that I would watch. If you’re looking for a book about a couple whose love is so strong that it withstands every obstacle thrown in its way and allows them to even cheat death, then I urge you to buy the Guzzi Duet today!!

“Life and love had entangled her heart and soul with Gian Guzzi. He was hers.” And she was most definitely his.

3.75 "deserved to be the Guzzi Queen" stars

Duty first.
Legacy second.
And only then love.

that's what it means to be bind with the Mafia code. From the very birth, you are groomed that way and you know of nothing else.

Gian Guzzi, has it all and yet he doesn't have the one thing that makes him tick, that makes him alive. Cara Rossi, a woman that he selfishly couldnt stay away from, needing her more than the air he breathes, a woman he was ready to give it all up and start a war over for and yet he waited out...
Physically, she wasn't his to have, no matter how badly he wanted her. Emotionally, she had every fucking one of her claws buried into his heart, and she didn't even know it. His soul was ENTANGLED with a woman who no longer wanted him, even if he would die for her.

BUT she did wanted him. Inspite the fact that Gian omitted the truth about his marital status, even though he wasn't sharing his life with his official wife, and the reasons he was in that arrangement was in fact a ploy to trap him, as it turns out BUT the truth still stands - he was still married, for life. In Mafia world, that's a status that is looked closely upon and guarded with upfront and utmost respect.

And Cara never wanted to be the other woman. The one that was scowled upon and frowned upon.
Homewrecker. Whore. Mistress. Slut. Goomah.

and that's exactly how she was percieved.
She tried to stay away from him, but the heart was stronger thus making her weaker.
the crippling feelings are tearing her apart between the man she loves from the bottom of her heart and the acceptance she would never have from the life she would choose if she chose him.
I hate you.

I'm sorry. I hate me too. And I'm sorry that it hurts you, Cara. I'm sorry that I hurt you. I'm sorry that I love you.

but no matter how much they tried to stay away from each other, it's an impossible task for them both, and any denail is futile...
I'm not yours.

Oh Cara, you're always going to be mine. Sempre, amore. You are mine, Cara, even if you're not with me.

I don't want to be that woman, Gian.

But...

But I love you, too. I love you, and I want to hate you.

and what they embark on is an affair that contradicts every Mafia indicted rule, the very core of it and they went aginst it...especially Gian
The details matter to you. The details aren't us in the grand scheme.

the scheme meaning the ploy of betrayals of another mafia family Gian was linked by marriage to, that would in fact, do every possible thing to destroy Gian, his image, his position, his life, by taking and ruining the one thing she treasures the most - Cara.

In the unraveling plot climax, all is resolved in a HEA, and the epilogue showed us what lengths Gian took to "make-up" for all the cruel, undeserved slaps and attacks Cara went through cause she stood by him and didn't step down and cower...and then she deserved the rightful position she was always meant to have, standing by Gian's side, forever.

i have to admit this story made me feel angsty as hell, I didn't quite come to terms of Gian's actions, It felt like he was sitting on two chairs, having it all, while on the other side, the woman he loved took the heat. But on the other hand it was her choice too and she took the downfall that went with that situation. So I didn't quite feel the empathy for all the things happening, cause she made her bed. But i also felt that he didn't do more, cause he could have, inspite the rules and inspite the predicament, and inspite the legacy, and duty and shit...cause that's what he did, in the end, but only cause the water came up to his throat and the life of his loved one was indangered, only then he made a move that threathened to start a war. In my opinion, this was a tad bit too late, as the "epic love" would have a blasting impact in much more intense and overwhelming thundering action if they both stood together and screamed "fuck you" to both, legacy and duty, while embarking the rampage to show the rest the the order of rules can change.

But that would have been an entirely different course of action, a presedan, sort of speak and and I guess, another story for another occasion.

Nevertheless, Bethany-Kris, never seems to diminish the intense unraveling no matter where or how deep she enters the Mafia world.

Duty. Legacy. Love. The Mafia Code and always in that order. But what happens if the code gets jumbled? What happens when Love overpowers Duty and Legacy? Can Gian Guzzi and Cara Rossi survive what disrupting the code entails?

Bethany-Kris takes us on a journey of twists and turns filled with angsty, emotion, and happiness. But in order to get to that happiness, Gian Guzzi and Cara Rossi are thrown into an intense roller coaster ride where the Mafia Code must be followed at all cost.

The situation that Cara finds herself at the end of book 1 is devastating to her and one that she can't be a part of. She is strong and stays away from Gian until she can't. Their love and passion and desire for one another knows no bounds. As much as Cara wants to stay away her heart is tied to Gian as his is tied to hers. But the family and duty must be respected until members of the family break the code and then all bets are off. Gian will protect Cara till the ends of the earth. If a war needs to happen......so be it.

Bethany-Kris writes wonderful mafia stories and this one hit all the bells and whistles. Gian and Cara's love story seemed at times impossible to imagine but the author was able to bring the story full circle. I loved the ending and the epilogue was perfect. For those who love well played out mafia stories with Duty, Love, Passion, Death and Honor.....The Guzzi Duet has it all!!

Loved Gian and Cara's story which I felt wasn't as mafia intense as some of her other books, and I really liked that. This was definitely more romance driven with Gian being one of BK's most swooniest heroes. He never once wavered in his absolute love for Cara. Loved that even though he infuriated me at times with the whole Elena thing. 😤

Lots of twists and turns wrapped up in a whole lot of smexy times and a huge dollop of delicious ronance with a fab epilogue.

I adore Bethany-Kris's writing. That is all.

*** 2.5 Deber, Legado Amor STARS

NO ME GUSTÓ!!

Overall they were cute together and you could literally feel the love between them + the baby scenes and the epilogue BUT I can't get over the fact that if third parties hadn't forced Gian's hand he would still be married to someone else, Cara would still be the mistress, and she and the baby would still be looked down upon, so Gian talking about it being just "details" was a bit tiring and annoying in the end. Also he was very useless as the head of a criminal organization, so i'll stick with male characters from the other series.

This is about a doormat who sleeps with a married H, even though he refuses to divorce his wife and puts everything and everyone ahead of the h. She lasted 3 whole months. What a fucking loser. 🙄

People complain about how guys cheat so much, well yea, because we have too many losers like this girl fucking married men.

Aside from the annoying doormat h, the H was a wimpy mafia guy.🙄

Bethany-Kris delivers another gritty, sexy, emotionally driven mafia romance with the Guzzi Duet. Gian Guzzi, like most of her anti-heroes, is one man you can't easily forget. I was anxious to see how Gian and Cara would work through their problems with the backdrop of the mafia, knowing that this would not be an easy journey.

This story will give you so many feels. I highly recommend this duet. It's one angsty read that will wring you out and leaving you feeling deliciously satisfied.

Entangled by Bethany-Kris is a story I will never forget.....
It's a novel that will leave a permanent mark on your mind, soul, and spirit. Cara is truly Gian's other half. She is the only thing in his life that makes him feel whole. After all that went down in the previous book Unraveled, dark secrets are coming out and both their lives are in danger. It's always the people that you trust the most, stick you right in the back.

I have to say that the Guzzi Duet, is without a doubt my personal favorite by Bethany-Kris.
I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath.....scared that Cara and Gian wouldn't make it out alive. From the very first page I was captivated with their love story, it's not an easy one.. but love isn't easy...... You have to fight for it.

DUTY.LEGACY.LOVE
Always in that order.

That is exactly what Gian did he put his Duty first, He went through the motions of being The Boss with his days all blending together in a blur. Gian has everything in his reach except for the one thing he truly wants and that is his LOVE, the one woman who consumes his mind heart and soul.

Cara never wanted to be anyone's dirty little secret but the heart wants what it wants and staying away from Gian Guzzi is proving to be pointless.

Eventually Gian and Cara find their way to be together and come to terms with everything that lays before them, but the road to happiness is not without lots of bumps, bullets and bloodshed along the way. Loyalties and Honor will be tested and the truth will be exposed.

You have once again amazed me Bethany-Kris the consistency of your deliverance in your stories is always wonderful.

I was in a reading funk and this book has officially cured it!

Not sure what I feel

I liked this story and couldn't put it down, but I had such issues.

1. I don't like cheating. I don't care what the circumstances are.

2. Smelly old Italian men with their screwed up morals. Stay married but cheat as much as you want. It makes you cool, but the woman a whore.

3. Women that just seem to take so much BS from their men and go with the flow because they are so much in love.

I was so frustrated with the story at times and almost got to the point where I wanted her to leave him. She was so strong in the first book, but seemed to cave anytime he waved his hand or blinked. He got so arrogant that he didn't stop the dangers that were right there in front of him.

Intriguing read but I had issues.

Where do I even begin? I loved this book. The twists and turns blew me away. The level of action was awesome. But most of all, the love and the certainty of that love was amazing.
I went into this unsure of how the issues from book 1 would be resolved, but it was done is an excellent way. When everything was explained, can anyone honestly say they wouldn't have made the same decision, or at the very least understood the circumstances? But besides that, the sex was hot as hell. The loyalty Gian and Cara had in one another was great and I just loved them together. Gian's french didn't hurt either.
I loved how strong Cara was. She didn't care what others thought and set the ones that mattered straight. Even when major hits came at her, she persevered and rose above whatever was thrown at her. She held her head up and was the queen Gian believed her to be.
Gian, man oh man, did he have the weight of the world on his shoulders in this book. He had to deal with problems within his family, within the mafia, problems with rival bosses, and the low down treacherous snakes THAT WERE FREAKING EVERYWHERE. I mean, who the hell could you trust? To find out not only who betrayed him in what way, but the level of manipulation of those snakes was shocking. But never fear, Gian is not a man to be trifled with and he got things done in just the right way- nice and bloody.
The epilogue was everything you could ask for. You get finality on where all that struggle led to.
Great read.

2.5 ⭐🌟
First of all, BK why did you do that to Chris? He was the only one I liked in this book.
Everything went to shit, the plot was so wtf? Why can't Gian get divorced because of the rules? It's the boss, right? That just seemed absurd to me.
Cara... I liked her so much in the first book just like Gian but uggh I just didn't like the direction the whole story took. I wasn't expecting Dom, what he did, I mean, that he had something with Elena, I saw that coming.
What I did like was the epilogue, I adore happy families.

Unraveled, book 1, left me hanging by an agonizing relationship angst thread, folks. Entangled drew me right back in Gian’s and Cara’s complicated circle of love and conflict desperate to find out how these two lovebirds would overcome the huge obstacle revealed at the end of Unraveled.

Picking up three months later, Gian is giving the mafia business his full attention as Don, but it doesn’t have his heart. No, Cara is carrying that around with her everywhere she goes, whether she realizes it or not. You see, Gian is still a goner for this lady love, and he’ll do anything to be with her and protect what is his. He just needs her to come to terms with what is their new reality.

With interference from some likely and unlikely sources, this couple’s love and devotion takes on a whole new life/meaning as they still manage to stay together, despite the blood, bullets, and mayhem that seem to follow them.

It’s complicated, folks, plain and simple. Before you get entangled up in this final conclusion, brace yourself for an evil, vindictive person that put into play circumstances years ago that pulled Gian into a web of lies and deceit long before Cara came into the picture. To say this person is at it again is putting it mildly, my fellow mafioso book-loving friends. Not just love but lives are put on the line because of it. Again, let me remind you. You must read book 1, Unraveled, first. This is not a stand-alone but does wrap up this struggling to survive love story with a lengthy, several years into the future epilogue.

Romance Safety Gang:

What lowered my rating by 1 star:

Titled: Entangled, Series: Guzzi Duet (Book 2), Author: Bethany-Kris, Pages: Not listed yet, not a stand-alone, must read book 1 first, mob boss hero who is married, OW drama, some graphic violence, VERY steamy scenes with lusty language, mafia theme, celibate during three month separation.

Hmm...

Let me preface this by saying, I loved LOVED the Filthy Marcellos. But I couldn’t get into the Chicago Wars AT. ALL. I wasn’t sure how this would be since I’ve had good and bad experiences with Bethany Kris books. I’d say, it’s not the book, it’s definitely me. This...was more of a Chicago Wars effect on me. I didn’t actually like both Gian or Cara. I can’t even pinpoint why. I am however, going to be reading the Guzzi Legacy though. Hopefully I love those because let’s face it, Bethany Kris is an awesome author! I’m just really sorry I didn’t love all her work more than I have.

Welp allow me to finish eating "crow" because I truly deserve it! I was soooooo upset with Cara at the beginning of this story! Just FED up! But wow !!! What she endures....just wow!

I know what you're thinking. She's a goomah. I wish I could tell you something soooooo incredibly JUICY it would knock your socks off but I CANNOT! It would totally spoil the story for you! If you've read book one, then you must absolutely read this story! The drama and the detail are EPIC! It's like watching a soap opera on steroids!

The beginning of the story is a little slow (or it could be my lack of patience to get to the goodies!) but hang in there because things turn very quickly! And trust! The goodies are FABULOUS!!!!

Jesus this book is over the top. Cara was nearly run over, survived a drive by, house ransacked by the police, escaped a domestic abuse shooting, nudes exposed, gunned down and shot, beat up and somehow lived happily ever after. 😒😒
Cara was not human she was a damn cat. Seriously this is what happened through all 200+ pages. Someone would attempt to kill Cara, she would of course survive. Gian would apologize. Cara would remind Gian his unwavering love was enough. They would have sex. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Overall the plot was absolutely ridiculous which sucked because I honestly liked Cara and Gian as a couple...their story not to much.

Another successful sequel to a successful story.

I've not read a book quite like this. Essentially Cara was the 'other woman' in the eyes of the everyone. In the mafia world, We read about these made men having mistresses but we never really get the story from that particular perspective. And that is why I really enjoyed entangled. It was different yet still had the elements Ms. Bethany-Kris is known for. It had the suspense factor, as well as the thrill, the heat, the romance, the loyalty, the betrayal and the twists/turns. It had everything I love.

After the cliffy in the previous book, we already knew it was nearly impossible for Gian and Cara truly to be together. The couple - mostly Cara went through a tone of crap to finally get to their happy place. And believe me there is a happy place! The final epilogue was so satisfying to read, I had to read it twice because of the warm feeling of joy I got from reading it. But back to Cara. The girl was resilient. She gave Gian shit but she also held her own so well. She knew when to push and when to concede. She was a great heroine. And as for Gian. I loved him. His love for Cara was unquestionable. He literally put everything on hold for her. And he didn't think about how it would effect him in order to protect her. So how did their relationship work considering As I said... in the eyes of everyone else Cara is the 'other woman'. But their love and their relationship is the purest (eh as pure as it can be in the mafia world) and realest thing to them both.

As for the mafia side: He's the new boss and he has his orders and the way its run. I thought he was doing a good job as a boss but that being said there were a few people who thought he was distracted. The action and drama was definitely something you don't see coming. There are so many snakes, rats and betrayal in their world and you know how that ends when that's the case. There was a chilling scene at the end that had me in goosebumps.

And one character that i just have to talk about is Elena. What a character. She's complex. She's twisty. She's so freaking odd. She's a snake. She's manipulative. And sometimes the way Gian spoke about her about wanting freedom away from her father, it made me felt a little sorry for her. I felt some kind of empathy for her... I don't know - it was weird because she was so snakey and I also hated her. It's so hard to describe how I feel about her because I hated her for trapping Gian through her manipulated ways, but she was so desperate to get away from her fathers hold that she did what she did. And then she did something else that made me hate her but she tried to justify it again because of how much she hated her father. Ha... I found her to be very interesting.

Anyway, Once again Bethany Kris delivers an exceptionally great story. I cannot wait to see what more she has in stock for her readers.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!

It is just me or this is not a love story you want to achieve?

Bethany Kris writes some of the best mafia stories and after Marcellos and Chicago wars, ai had a great expectations. Something that would be even better than Theo and Evelinas story,.... but this one was a big disappointment.

First book was a great love story in the making until we found out he is married! Yep, he has a wife he can't divorce and he was hiding it from Cara the whole time. Of course Cara make a decision that all the smart women would make - she leaves him. She walks away from being the other women, being called a whore, being cast away as a filthy, little secret. But short 3 months later she is back, she is pregnant and ready to take all the insults that would be thrown at her.
WHY??? If not for herself than for her baby. No mather what, he is alwayd going to be a bastard, something his father should be affraid of.

ARC Provided by author.

Gian and Cara were both put in terrible positions.
Gian being married but just on paper. Cara not wanting to bear the title of being with him but their love was stronger than any label thrown at her.

And Gian has been redeemed! I was hoping he'd suffer a lot for what he did to Cara by not telling her of his marriage...and he suffered good. He also loved Cara so much I couldn't hold it against him. And in the end that was all that mattered.

So many twists and turns throughout the book. Betrayal, lies and threats. The only person Gian could trust was his mon ange.

Overall another good story from BK.

Oh. My. God. I have thrown responsibilities and everything out the window when this arrived on my Kindle last Friday, 7.28.2017. I finished reading at 11 pm, and that was the first time this year that I've devoured a book so fast it consumed everything in me.
His soul was entangled with a woman who no longer wanted him, even if he would still die for her.

Entangled (Guzzi Duet #2) by Bethany-Kris
4.5 stars!!!

“Duty first. Legacy second. And only then, love.”

Entangled starts where Unraveled finished and Bethany-Kris was not finished with toying with our emotions. These mafia characters had already embedded themselves into my heart and head and they only burrowed themselves deeper in Entangled. Gian and Cara found themselves in an untenable situation and it seems things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. Gian is a man on his own, an arranged marriage he never wanted and one that was over the day it begun. A woman he loves with his whole being no longer wanted him, a mafia family that was on the cusp of war…he had never felt more alone.

“His soul was entangled with a woman who no longer wanted him, even if he would still die for her. Gian had no one to blame for that but himself.”

Gian was tied to Cara in every possible way, heart, mind, body and soul and through omission he lost it all. Gian cannot let go and even though they may be apart, Gian still knows everything she does, he may not be able to be with her, but that doesn’t mean he has to cut her off completely, he can’t.

“You broke my heart, Gian.”

“Well, I hope mine is a suitable replacement, Cara. Because you still have mine, and you didn’t bother to give it back.”

The love between these two was palpable, their chemistry seriously off the charts and the intensity between them caught hold of every single synapses. I wanted these two to make it, if any two deserved it they did. These two made each other stronger, supported one and other, complemented each other, they just needed for it to be their time.

“I’m sorry…I hate me too.”

Entangled is a story chock full of suspense, legacy, drama and betrayal, but most importantly a love so strong that even old-fashioned opinions couldn’t prevent it from happening. Sticks and stones and all that, but at the end of the day this is the twenty-first century, divorce happens on a daily basis and how a mafia family that has evolved from the dark ages still has some moral compass with regards to marriage beggars belief, but alas, it is true. As I said…UNTENABLE.

“Homewrecker. Whore. Mistress. Slut. Goomah.”

Bethany-Kris writes some the best mafia romances I have read, I adore her writing style, her characters never fail to infiltrate, her stories are intoxicating and compelling and this duet is one of my favourites. From the very start I have been held hostage by these characters, Gian is one of my favourite characters to ever grace a mafia book and if you love mafia as much as I do, then this duet is a definite must read. I cannot wait to see what comes next from this author.

“A gift I didn’t think I was going to be able to give you.”

Cara and Gian each on their own, can't forget everything that happened. Cara is hurt, not surprising, but she focused a lot on what others would say and what they would call her instead of her happiness. But then, she doesn't care and has to face Gian when he changed his mind. I liked Elena in a way, although it is true that there were moments that were out of place, but they are comprehensible. In the end, it seemed a bit hasty, but the epilogue was the best ending there could be.

No me gustó.
