I don’t know who I am.

I can’t remember my name, where I come from, or how I ended up in the hospital with a bullet wound to my chest. When I think back, searching for a memory, all I see is a big black hole of nothing.

But I recall her voice…the sweet, angelic sound that reached out to me through the coffin of black, pulling me back to the light.

I might not know anything about my past, my life, my identity—but the moment I opened my eyes and stared straight into hers, I knew I wanted her. I knew there was no way in hell I would let her go.

Now I need to piece back together the missing fragments of my life so I can figure out where she fits into it—or if she fits into it at all.

The only problem is if your past is buried beneath a shroud of darkness, you have no idea when it might come back to haunt you.

Amanda Mackey blends romance, suspense, and action in True Identity! When a man wakes up after having been shot, he finds he has no memory, not even his name. Now with the help of the woman who brought him back, he must piece back together his fractured life, a life that could be dangerous for more people than just him. Mackey’s writing was great and I enjoyed the Memento meets While You Were Sleeping vibe of this one! If you’re hungering for The Bourne Identity with a romantic twist, check out True Identity!

"I wasn't sure what to expect when I pushed through the door into room three, but the hulk of a man with arms busting out of the generous hospital gown wasn't it. ". He was rugged with a hint of danger; tanned slightly hardened skin, thick dark eyelashes and decadent lips... WOW. Read Mackenzie & Harley's story

Fantastic book!!

Wow!! I love this book!! Mac is an ICU nurse. Her new patient is a John Doe in a coma. When he wakes up with amnesia Mac is the only real connection he has. Mac tries to help him and the story gets more intriguing as it goes along. It is definitely a page turner and steamy as well!

This was such a cool first book to this series. The story is about a nurse Mackenzie (Mac) who is bored with her life. She works all the time and is in a relationship she isn't real happy with. A man comes into the ER with a bullet wound in his chest and skull trauma. She calls him Harley (instead of John Doe) and she sings and talks to him while he is in his coma. When Harley wakes up with amnesia she is the only thing familiar to him since he heard her while he was in the coma. He begs her to stay with him and she lets him stay with her when he is out to help gain his memory. The attraction between these two characters is something they can't deny. I loved every second of this story. These are all the details I want to reveal. Don't want to rob the readers of experiencing this book. The author does a great job on making us really understand both characters. I really liked how she described what Harley was hearing and experiencing while in the coma. I can't wait for more of this series. Especially since we are left with a cliffhanger!

Five out of five stars!

Holy hell! Why did you leave me hanging? Why?????? How long do I have to wait for the next book!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the first book in The Lost and Found Series and I am hooked. In this first book Mac is living a boring life, working as a nurse for the ICU of the hospital is the only escape. Her home life is boring and repetitive. Her live in boyfriend of two years acts as if she is not even there. Working, working, working. That is all he does. Mac wants more, but she is afraid to take that next step and leave.

Then comes Mr John Doe. Coma patient from a gunshot and head wound. He is handsome and sexy as hell. The nurses have all deemed him a God. Mac is assigned to John Doe and she is just as mesmerized as the rest of the nursing staff. Not knowing if he can hear her, she constantly sings and talks to him.

John Doe, hears an Angel in his darkness. He feels the voice calling out to him and pulling him from the depths of that darkness. Who is the owner of this beautiful voice? Every time the voice disappears he feels panic.

Finally John Doe opens his eyes and Mac is struck. But too soon John Doe, now named Harley by Mac, is moved to another ward and he is scared to death to be without his Angel. When Harley is released from the hospital, he has nowhere to go. Mac decides to allow him to come home with her and she will help him figure out who he is. Will Harley figure out who he is? Will Mac take on more trouble than it is worth? Will she survive the truth?

This book was amazing. It was not what I expected at all. It was deeply intense and emotional. I was hooked from the beginning. I don’t read many stories where someone has lost their memory. I love the authors take on this story and how she is writing it out. The story is steady paced and the author has really developed the characters. The characters back stories are coming together in bits and pieces, which leaves you wanting to know more. The chemistry between Mac and Harley is magnetic.

Mac really is such a lonely woman, even though she has a boyfriend and Harley is the fire that has been lit and is slowly heating her up. They could be so great together, if it weren’t for all the obstacles they have thrown at them. I was disappointed in the way it ended. Leaving me hanging with so many questions, begging for more. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes thrilling novels with romance mixed in. It could be made into a whole season of Grey’s Anatomy kind of good. I know I can’t wait till the next one comes out!!!

Cliffhanger warning! This book had a good premise, but I had a few issues with it. First, there were parts that just felt too unrealistic. I can definitely suspend belief in fiction, but I found myself rolling my eyes at times. Also, I am not a fan of . Lastly, the cliffhanger. The only way a cliffhanger really works for me is if it leaves me needing to know what happens IMMEDIATELY. With this one, it ends with a reveal to the hero that the reader already knows, so it seemed a little anticlimactic and just like an incomplete story. I will still be reading book 2 because I am intrigued in the story line.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
this is my first book by Amanda Mackey, and I LOVED it
Mac (Mackenzie) works in ICU an Ann Arbor, When a new patient comes
in with a bullet wound to the chest and skull trauma Mac cannot help but
be attracted to the gorgeous man, He is huge, and muscled with dark hair
Mac sings and talks to him while he is in a coma. I LOVED how the author
described what Harley (the name Mac gave him because she just couldnt call him
John Doe) was hearing and feeling while in his coma. When he finally opened his
eyes Mac could not tear her eyes away from the intense coal black eyes.
Mac is in a very sad relationship with Nick, They have been together for 2 years
and hardly even speak to each other. she cannot remember the last time they even
had sex. When Harley is moved from ICU to another room he starts to panic and
begs Mac to stay with him (Oh he has amnesia) Mac promises she will visit him
after her shift. She is sitting with him while he sleeps and he wakes from a horrific dream
Mac comforts him and tells him when he is released he can come and stay with her. She
promises him she will help him in any way she can regain his memory.
Wow what comes next is exciting, HOT, and I was STUNNED at the cliffhanger ending.
I cannot wait to read book two and see how Mac and Harley's relationship continues.
Will Charlie (Viper) be able to help him, What will happen with Trudy. This was a cannot put down book

Whoa...

Was not expecting this!

I can't imagine what Harley/Declan is going through when he wakes up, his memory completely blank to see an angel, or his nurse Mac.

From the moment his deep brown brooding eyes flutter open you can feel the magnetic pull between two characters who are both so completely and utterly lost that you feel yourself praying for them to find themselves, and each other.

Mac is in a crappy relationship - her boyfriend barely acknowledges her existence and it isn't until she brings her work home with him he even notices. Maybe it's because the "work" she's bringing home is a six foot hunk of ex-military man who's relying on her for everything.

This book had me enraptured from page one and just when I thought I had it all figured out, from nowhere another twist would come.

I think this is perhaps Mackey's best work... I'm dying to get my hands on book 2 to find out what happens to my new favourites - Mac & Harley and even their new/old friend Viper!

Love this book!!!

From front to back, this book had me on the edge of my seat. The suspense, drama, action and romance keeps you reading and begging for more. Watching as Mackenzie or Mac, bring light into the darkness of Harvey's life after a traumatic experience that he's gone through and seeing him pull her out of her boring excitance that she called a life. Is what stories are made of, mix all of that with: suspense of the unknown lurking in the shadows of his mind and life that are out to get him. Drama in both their lives that involve significant others, who you wondering if they will destroy Mac & Harley' chemistry. And a budding love affair that so desperately wants to hang onto the two people who deserve happiness, but are unable to move forward till all that is keeping them apart can be settled. This is not a stand alone, which had me crying and screaming Nooooooo, what happens next!!!What happens next!!!! But I can't wait to get the next book so I can find out what will happen yo Mac & Harley.

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

The blurb of this book just grabbed me. It sounded SO good and SO interesting. I was hooked before I even cracked open the book.

Let me say, once I started reading, the actual book didn’t disappoint. It was a GREAT read. It is full of twist and turns and details that leave you hanging. The characters make you love them and sink their hooks into you.

Details and descriptions were out of this world. They just enhance the greatness of this story. The way that the author writes this story, and these scenes, is chilling at times. It’s intense and maybe a bit frustrating at times. It leaves you NEEDING more. It’s absolute perfection.

I loved, loved, loved this story. It was a great read. I can’t wait for book two though, I need it now.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

This is the story about a John Doe amnesia patient and his ICU nurse, Mackenzie, who connect emotionally even before he wakes up from his coma. Mac nicknames the patient 'Harley' and it is her voice that provides him comfort, even while he's in his coma. The connection solidifies when he wakes up and Mac crosses professional lines by letting him stay in her and her boyfriend, Nick's, apartment until he can find answers about who he is.

This is somewhat of a love triangle (or square), except Nick is largely written out of the narrative for most of the story, and then Harley's ex-wife shows up. There is most definitely cheating involved, and as this is the first in a series, this book ends in a cliffhanger. None of these things bother me. This is FICTION, and it's a TRUE series, not interconnected standalones. It was a fast-paced, easy and enjoyable read.

Ahhhh I love this book it was so fun I immediately went and got the rest of the series! The fact that it ends on a cliffhanger it really made it out to be like a soap opera lol. That’s exactly the vibe this whole book gave. My only thing that I was struggling with was how blatantly he was about his feelings and how he was just too into her business witout even knowing her like that lol but for the most part it was such a great book and fast paced and hopefully we get more answers throughout the rest of the series.

This book kept me turning the pages as fast as I could to see what would happen next, I couldn't put it down. So many questions surrounding Harley and his life before being shot and loosing all his memories. What will he remember, will he and Mac be safe? I just hate that this ends on a cliff hanger!! I received this as an ARC so I have even longer to wait for the rest of the story. This is my honest voluntary review.

This is my first time reading an AM book and it will not be my last! I loved the book and can't wait for the next one! I was captivated from start to finish with the characters. You really felt like you were there with them. A sexy nurse and a hot military man with a huge attraction to each other but not quite getting together until they figure out who he is after his coma. A must read!!!

Cliffhanger

The type of books I hate, cliffhangers. I really do not like these kind of books and discourage all writers to not have its readers get the end only to have them learn they have to buy another book. This book was good until it ends at a good place and then realize they have to buy another book, and possibly another.

This book will grab you and hold you until the very end! <3

I loved this book! I've had a loved one in a coma who woke up and told me that he could hear things while he was under. I had was so glad that his doctor let me spend time with him, just holding his hand and talking to him about what was happening. He told me later that he would have really weird "dreams" and that my voice would pull him out of them. This book deals with the same thing. "Harley" hears Mackenzie's voice and grabs onto it as his lifeline. As his nurse, Mac, feels things for him that she knows she shouldn't but she can't help it. This storyline is so good I couldn't put it down.

I volunteered to read an ARC of this book and I am so glad I did!
