In 2005 the author and his wife emigrated to Australia to start a new life as macadamia farmers. With no previous farming experience this was a step into the unknown to satisfy an urge to do something different and to be masters of their own destinies. This is the story of those ten years as they progressed from innocent novices to experienced macadamia growers.
The book is the foundation to my pursuit of wanting to farm. From Nkhatabay, to the UK, to Mchinji, this book gave me the sense of urgency to start now than ever before. Macadmia farming isn’t only for the money but for the persistence and the life long lessons of patience, grit, and growing something from the ground up for longevity.
The ‘brain nut’ that I didn’t know I’d be so passionate about from a young age, gave me a sense of direction and perspective to look outside and do something different. That business degree really came handy :)
