The epic conclusion to the Crucible Shard

The war for control of the multiverse is finally coming to a head. What started for Liam as a game has become for King Liam something far more personal, a fight for the home he has made for himself and those he cares for. This conclusion to the saga brings more of what has defined the Crucible Shard series, hard decisions and complex choices as the lines between hero, anti-hero, and villain blur even more.

This book would have made more sense as a short story. If you throw out the first three quarters of the book, then you might have a story that makes a vit of sense because most of it just seemed like random tidvits thrown together as filler, or perhaps as if the author wrote down things that were supposed to be in the story, then just stuffed them in where ever there was room.
The ending was ok, but with all the build up, I would have expected more. Glad to see the end though even if it wasn't what I would have expected.

Great series - superb character development

Really enjoyed the growth and change the characters experienced throughout the series. The blur between good and evil and the challenging of absolutes.

Overall

This series has a lot of promise.
It really does need to be retold.
World's fleshed out, characters too.
Then it all needs to be heavily edited.
I can only recommend this series be read on kindle unlimited or other free site at this time.

Crazy way to end the series but it does make sense. It is interesting to see things now that I should have perhaps noticed during the earlier books. If you want to get a look at LitRPG try this but obviously start from the beginning.

At Least Its Over
Well, Liam won, I guess.

Huge mega battle over 12 moons, each of Liam's armies lead by one of his daughters and coordinated with an attack on the Silver City. Such massive battles that they couldn't be described in a very compelling way, and was kind of like a news report. And throughout were never really sure who the good guys really are. Liam's back stabbing his former fiancee, who really didn't deserve it.

A bunch of introspective drivel about who is the good guy or villain, and whether its OK to sacrifice your friends to achieve the game objectives, and how in the end he was redeemed by doing whats right for his family.

Uggh.

A fitting ending, but I think it could have used a bit of an epilogue explaining a few of the things that happened, and what happened to some of the characters. Otherwise I liked it.

I have mixed feelings about this series. At times, it's fast pace, hectic, strangeness feels like a fever dream (probably because he's writing one book a month), other times it's comes across as a fun perversion of the LitRPG genre. I particularly like the books where they jump into different genre's of game, like the dating sim. Unfortunately, this book is far more straight forward and boils down to little more than a few fetch quests before a massive brawl. Grants writing just isn't strong enough to make the more simplistic plots interesting, his strength was more in absurd situations, setting, and outlandish characters. The penultimate conclusion to the series is fine, just simpler and more straight forward than I'd had hoped.
