The Bun Boy of Baker is the story of three women and a deputy sheriff who have fled society to a small desert town to escape their lives and their vices. The deputy, a sexual compulsive, is there to hide from women and an awful mistake that haunts him. Of the three women, one is out for revenge, one is hiding from an estranged boyfriend and tracking a dangerous criminal, and the third has a gambling addiction and is in search of acceptance and love.
In the end. only two find what they are looking for.
The Bun Boy of Baker has the grittiness of a Tarantino movie and the humor of an Elmore Leonard novel.
A sexy fun crime romp, where one deputy sheriff in a small town tries to juggle four women as part of his misguided attempt to forget what torments him.
Best-selling author David Putnam comes from a family of law enforcement. During his career, he did it all: worked in narcotics, served on FBI-sponsored violent crimes teams, and was cross-sworn as a US Marshall, pursuing murder suspects and bank robbers in Arizona, Nevada, and California. Putnam did two tours on the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s SWAT team. He also has experience in criminal intelligence and internal affairs and has supervised corrections, patrol, and a detective bureau. In Hawaii, Putnam was a member of the real-life Hawaii Five O, serving as Special Agent for the Attorney General investigating smuggling and white-collar crimes.
Putnam lives in Southern California with his wife, Mary.
A satire on crime fighting and dealing with lifestyle problems that are dealt to them. Everyone in this desert town has an addiction of some kind. Some are a little overboard though. A fun romp in the desert.
Another great story from David Putnam, The Bun Boy is a novel of a deputy being torn between 3 women that get's involved with his sexual addiction. Bradley Bogarus, ( now right there the name a hoot,) follows his compulsive loving into a small setting of a diner where he attempts to keep his urges and the woman safe from being destructive to all.
A fun, page-turning beach read! I got sucked in immediately and blasted through it in a few days. If you like stories about the gritty desert underbelly mixed with sex, crime, and bit of Vegas glitz, you'll love Bun Boy of Baker. And if you've ever been to (or more likely, through) Baker, you'll appreciate how Putnam brings character to this mysterious little middle-of-nowhere town.
