Justice is a biker and former Navy SEAL living with PTSD. While he didn’t give “the last full measure of devotion” to his country, he came damn close And his nightmares drag him back to Afghanistan.
Etta May Jameson is a social worker dealing with her own painful memories, but she's attracted to Justice. Her boundaries are crumbling and she longs to take another chance on love. They need to deal with their battle scars as well as they're growing feelings.
But when Etta's ex-husband is paroled, her past becomes present. And her future is in jeopardy.
Cynthia Rayne is a USA TODAY bestselling author of the Black Star Security, Kinky Security, Lone Star Mobster, and the Four Horsemen MC Series. While Cynthia was born and raised a damn Yankee in Ohio, her parents hail from Dixie, and she grew up on homemade buttermilk biscuits and southern wisdom. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, reading way too many romance novels, and drinking a truly obscene amount of coffee.
Yeah, the author got back to great characters and a great story. I was worried about reading this one since I truly did not like the last installation. No worries here.
Great story very heartbreaking and touching. Each character went through hell and came back. The only complaint I had was the recovery process for Justice seemed very fast. He went through so much and sometimes love isn’t enough to over come PTSD.
Remember the the tissues Justice’s story made me cry.
I received a copy from the author for a honest review. Great read will read the next.
Former Navy SEAL Justice has been asked to step aside from his MC until he gets his head back on straight. Justice is suffering from PTSD and there seems to be only one person who makes him calm, social worker Etta May Jameson.
Etta had the relationship from hell and is not sure she wants to get involved with Justice. She can't deny their is an attraction but her fears about he ex are rising especially now that he is out of prison. Justice and Etta find common ground though when they realize they both need to face their ghosts head on and find a happiness both never expected.
Loved this one. Close to being my favorite. Justice was a fascinating character and Etta is a true heroine. I liked that they took the time to get to know one another and had elements of humor that helped during some of the more serious parts. Excellent.
Finally Justice and Etta's story! Both Justice and Etta have horrid pasts. Both suffering from some form of PTSD. They have been denying their feelings for long enough and decide to take a chance. But when Etta's past comes back with a vengeance, will Justice be able to protect her? I was so happy to finally learn the background of these broken souls. They deserved to find a little piece of happiness. They are definitely survivors. Thanks to the author for tackling some tough subjects. “I received a copy of the book in return for an honest review.”
I received this book early so I could give a review.......Cynthia hit it again with another MC story. Both Justice and Etta are broken and trying to find their way in this world. Justice because of the military and Etta cause of a ex husband....?neither thinks they deserve to be happy. Cynthia has a way of weaving each other's story and they begin to heal each other.. If you are a fan of MC stories...this will not disappoint you...I am hoping she will continue with more of these guys...
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is a good read with great characters. Justice is a strong male with bad memories from serving in the war and Etta is a caring person trying to overcome her own personal demons. Together they help each other to face their nightmares and find love in the process. Cynthia Rayne paints a vivid picture of these characters and their journey to find each other and heal old wounds. Loved reading this book!
I was so happy to finally get this book and learn the background of these two . Justice and Etta deserved to find a little piece of happiness. Both Justice and Etta are broken and trying to find their way in this world. Justice because of the military and Etta because of an ex husband. Neither thinks they deserve to be happy, but together they help each other to face their nightmares and find love in the process. I absolutely love Cynthia books. They are all so amazing.
Cold Blood is the fourth book in the exciting Lone Star Mobster series by bestselling author Cynthia Rayne. An emotionally captivating, romantic suspense that's a definite must read! With an intriguing storyline, complex characters, humor, angst, intense situations, and many twists and turns, this story will capture your heart from beginning to end. I absolutely loved this book, and can't wait for more of this series!
Landon "Justice" Page is a former Navy SEAL, and now is an officer in the Four Horsemen MC. Etta May Jamison is a local social worker. They couldn't be more different, but there's something that pulls them towards one another. They've both been through mental and physical torture, one at the hands of an ex-husband, the other at the hands of the Taliban, both surviving the unimaginable hell they lived through. This unique connection also brings an understanding of what the other went through. Although Etta May has fought the attraction between them since the beginning, she's beginning to trust Justice, and open up to the possibility of them being together.
With everything going on, will Justice be able to keep her safe, and take care of his other responsibilities, as well as himself too? Will they both be able to finally let down all of their walls, and see where the intense attraction between them goes? Can Etta May learn to be a part of the MC life that Justice loves? Will they get the HEA they both want, and deserve? You'll have to read this to find out! You won't be disappointed.
If you haven't read this series, I suggest that you start from the beginning. You'll get to read amazing stories, learn about each couple, and learn about the dynamics of the Dixie Mafia. It's an awesome series that you won't want to miss!
I strongly recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
I have voluntarily reviewed this arc provided by the author.
Cold Blood is an excellent example of the MC genre. Justice is part of the Four Hoursemen MC, but he's been put on a temporary suspension so he can get his life together. He's suffering from extreme PTSD from his time in Afghanistan while serving as a Navy SEAL, and the nightmares won't let him sleep. So he smokes out a lot to deal with the memories that won't leave his mind. Etta is the social worker that he apparently met in an earlier story (I haven't read any of the other previous stories in the series). The two have a strong attraction, but she's intent on keeping him out.
When she needs help dealing with her abusive ex husband who just got out of prison, though, Justice is there for her, and slowly the two give into their attraction. Justice to me is the real star of Cold Blood. He's damaged for sure, but he's got such a huge heart and when he loves, he loves hard, and protects those he loves. Reading the two of them falling in love, dealing with their pasts, watching them slowly helping each other heal, is such an engaging experience. I love how they're both fully developed characters and and their chemistry is strong emotionally and physically.
If you like your MC romances with sexy, badboy heroes and strong heroines who are true survivors, Cold Blood should definitely be on your TBR list.

I received a free copy of this book to leave an honest review. I truly enjoy reading about the jagged piece of people that fit together.
Justice is a truly good human being. To me, he is the epitome of what a man is. Kind, honorable, strong, compassionate and loving. He is scarred both physically and emotionally from his days as a Navy Seal when he was held hostage by the Taliban and tortured. He is a lost man without a compass until he meats Etta.
Etta, much like Justice, is everything I believe a woman should be. Strong, kind, compassionate and extremely capable of love. She was tortured by her abusive ex husband over the span of their 4 year marriage. She has been incapable of getting close to someone but, a heart as large as hers can't be locked up.
Watching these two hurt souls find each other is really beautiful. These are two people that truly deserve the happy ending that they choose.
I love the colorful nature of Hell and the people we meet along the way. The side characters that have either been Main characters like Pretty Boy and Eddie or the ones who will be like Ten, Trick and Tyler.
I enjoyed every moment and as always can't wait to see what happens next.
Finally we get Justice and Etta's story and HOLY Sh•t what an AMAZING STORY this is!!! We first met Etta when she was Pretty Boy's social worker and she truly wants to help people so they don't make the same mistakes that she made. Justice served his country proudly as a Navy Seal and unfortunately suffered severely while in service to his country. When Justice and Etta meet both are suffering from PTSD and are damaged and broken in their own different and unique ways. This book was so beautifully written that it breaks your heart. You feel Justice and Etta's pain as they travel on their emotional journey. The storyline is very original and the journey that Justice and Etta go on is NOTHING short of INCREDIBLE!! This is by far my favorite BOOK of the Series! I CAN'T WAIT for the next book in this AMAZING Series as each book just gets BETTER and BETTER!!! I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This story follows Justice and Etta. Justice is a Navy Seal and part of th Four Horsemen Mc and is having problems with his past as it's close to the anniversary of what he and his fellow Seals went through in Afghanistan and the only thing that helps at the moment is whiskey and the weed pretty boy made for him. Etta knows bad things are coming with her ex due out anytime now but keeps her feelings hidden so no one knows what she is going through or gone through, but when Justice comes to her house she knows she shouldn't get involved with him and does hold of but things can't be denied. When they start to open up together they find they have lots in common but can they have there HEA together or Will Etta's ex do something before they can be happy.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
First off I love, love, love Cynthia and Sara Rayne's books! I started out on the Four Horsemen series and then the Dixie Mafia and they're all fabulous! That being said, I've waited patiently, for me, for Justice and Etta's book and I'm so thrilled that it was worth my wait. Justice has always intrigued me when he's shown up in other books and I was always drawn to Etta too, the two of them together are so sweet. This book was typical of Ms. Rayne's books...sexy, sweet, exciting and humorous...such a joy to read. I'm hoping that Ten gets a book soon, he's an interesting character in a totally creepy way. I loved this book and highly recommend it...and anything else Cynthia or Sara write...I promise you won't regret checking it out!!
Cynthia Rayne out did herself with this emotionally engaging romance. Justice, a former Navy SEAL and current member of the Four Horseman motorcycle gang, is struggling to come to terms with his experience overseas. The only light that he can find is in May Jameson. May has her own ghosts that she is desperately trying to bury, but when her ex-husband is paroled she knows that he past is about to catch up with her future. Together, Justice and May, will find the strengths to come to terms with their pasts so that they can have a future together. This is an emotional rollercoaster that will keep readers engaged till the very last word. I received this book from the author at no cost to me and volunteered to read it; my review is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Hot male lead? Well lets see Justice is ex navy seal, belongs to Four Horsemen MC and has a conflicted background, all the makings of a perfect hero. Etta survives abusive situation and finds herself back on the edge when the court releases her predator. She was a strong person and I loved all the character development. You understand the attraction, not some instant "love" with no reason. You want them to succeed as a couple and help each other to heal. Love conquers all! Cynthia Rayne never disappoints. My only negative is that being a foodie I missed Voo and all the delicious food at his café!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I've read all of the Four Horsemen mc and a couple of the Dixie mafia books and this story has characters from both, this is Justice and Etas story. Etta, a social worker, is friends with Pretty boy from the Four Horsemen and Justice, who is suffering from PTSD, is on leave from them so he can sort himself out but whilst he's away from the club he does a bit of work for the boss of the Dixi mafia. Then Etta's ex-husband arrives, fresh from being on parole ............. I couldn't put this down, I was hooked from page one, I love the Four Horseman, it was this series that hooked me on Cynthia Rayne's books
Justice and Etta’s story , I have been waiting for this, I’m a bit confused as to why it’s a lone star book and not a four horseman as they are equally featured and justice is a horseman but that’s neither here nor there it’s an excellent read. I don’t want to give anything away but Etta has a nasty ex and Justice is dealing with PTSD from his time in Afghanistan, 2 damages people come together and make each other whole..... eventually. I love Cynthia’s storytelling, the lovable characters that you really root for and the action that’s always there in the pages. I received a copy of this book in return for my honest review
When I first started reading this writer's work it was on a friend's recommendation, and I haven't looked back sense. This was just what you want in romance wrapped up in action and something different that is just beneath the surface. This story not only deals with a lot of pain but it also deals with a lot of heavy subjects and the writer nails it.The chemistry between Justice and Etta is not only sexy but it reads like putting on your favorite sweater, you just have to have it.This in the tradition of the previous stories and series is just too good to pass up.So take a ride with a horseman and enjoy.
I received this book in return for an honest review. Honestly I loved it. I had doubts going into Justice's story, because he came off as really damaged in previous books and I didn't know if the author would use that as an excuse to prolong the angst. Justice is damaged and I honestly cried for what he went through. Etta had her own damage but both her and Justice chose to overcome their issues together. I couldn't have thought of a better story for these two. Like all of the Dixie Mafia, as well as the horsemen, this one is a must read.
I received a copy of the book in return for an honest review.
This book was just amazing as the others written by this author and each book gets better than the last. I loved the main characters. You could feel the emotions as they spoke about the tradgies that had happened in their lives. They both had something terrible happen to them but were able to overcome them with the help of each other. This book made me laugh, cry and even angry at times. It kept my attention and I fell in love with the hero and the heroine. I can't wait to read what is written next.
I received a free copy of this book I am so glad I did I have really enjoyed reading the four horsemen mc and the Dixie mafia books this has a foot in each camp with characters from both joining in for the ride this is Justice and Etas story Etta is friends with Pretty boy for the four horsemen justice is also a horsemen but on a break for a while to sort himself out he then does some body guarding/ babysitting for the boss of the dixi mafia the story is interesting and has. A few twist and turns along the way no spoilers from me definitely a page turner
I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Ohhhhh, I sooo loved this book!!! I have been dying for Justice and Etta’s story and I was not disappointed!! I LOVE these two. They are both so broken and afraid inside, your heart is literally going to break for them! This book was emotional, intense, sad, funny and beautiful! Can Justice and Etta let go of their past and learn to trust each? Will either of them allow themselves to love and risk being hurt? I highly recommend this book!!!!
This is a 2.5 stars for me. I am confused why Justice's story was included in the Lone Star series as he is not part of the Dixie Mafia. I found the combination of both Ella and Justice's backstory to be more of a distraction than adding to the story. This created too much separation between the H/h and created a lack of connection between the characters. Too many characters and too little time focusing on the protagonists in the tale, IMO.
This isn't a bad book, I just didn't find it as compelling as others in the author's library.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Cold Blood was a sweet story but not as hot or engaging as the other books in the series. Both Ella and Justice were likable characters, struggling to overcome past traumas. The fact that they met each other and became involved in a relationship was sweet but overall the story seemed flat and without the usual energy and electricity of Cynthia Rayne's other books in the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I absolutley loved this story i have wanted to read Justice and Etta story for awhile. Justice and Etta both suffered horrivle thing in life and they were able to overcone them together. Im so glad that Justice was able to open up and purfe all his demons and Etta faced her nightmare head on. Both are such storng characters. Loved this story
Another great addition to the Lone Star Mobsters series. Justice and Etta have painful memories of the past. Together they can help each other heal. Justice is a member of the Four Horsemen MC. Danger, sexy bikers, a headstrong woman and brothers who will always have your back. This can be read as a standalone but the series is great. As is the Four Horsemen Series. No cliffhanger, hea. Can't wait for the next book. I received a copy of the book in return for an honest review.
I received a copy of the book in return for an honest review. Finally! I have been anxiously waiting and Cynthia did not disappoint. Etta and Justice's story is by far my favorite. If you have read the previous books in this series you knew something bad has happened to both Etta and Justice, but I was not prepare for this. Get your tissues out and settle in for the night. You are not going to be able to put his one down. I won't give details but trust me, your are going to love it!
Very well written, once again this author has provided us with a gritty tale that will stay with us, while this is a exceedingly well done work of fiction, this is also very easy to relate to as a reality so many have survived. The characters are complex and very realistic. Any time you can visit Hell, Texas it's worth your time and you money to do so! I highly recommend this book and this author!
I love to read Cynthia Rayne's books. I started with the Four Horseman Series and then on to the Lone Star Mobsters. She is awesome, her characters grab your heart right away and when your done you wish there was more. This story is about Justice and Etta, such great characters together. They find love even while dealing with their own issues of the past. Such a good read, don't deny yourself.
I was given this book, for an honest review, and honestly, I loved it!!!
We first met Social Worker Etta in Pretty Boy and Sheps story. We met Justice in Axel and Charlie's story. Finally they get their own romance. And it is fantastic. Warning there are a lot of abuse triggers and this is an emotional read. But it is VERY well written. In fact I think it is Cynthia Rayne best book to date and I love all her Horsemen and Mafia books. I wish I could give it more than five stars.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This book is one that grabs you from the first page and keeps you in it's grip right through to the ending. Former Navy SEAL, Justice is a biker now and also suffers with PTSD. Etta is a social worker who's got demons of her own. The two meet and the sparks fly... What a fantastic ride this story takes you on.
