The turn into flame vypráví o minulosti Ozerovy rodiny.

From the Journal of Vasilisa Dragomir se odehrává pár měsíců před prvním dílem. Tahle povídka mi přišla nejslabší a dala bych jí 3,5⭐️.

The meeting popisuje setkání Rose a Dimitrije z Dimitrijova pohledu. Na tomhle se asi nedalo nic zkazit. Dejte mi povídku, kde se objeví Dimitrij a na 99% to budu milovat. A pokud jste VA četli, tak jste určitě taky přemýšleli nad tím, co se Dimitrijovu honilo hlavou, když poprvé uviděl Rose. 5⭐️

Hello, my name is Rose Hathaway se odehrává mezi prvním a druhým dílem. 5⭐️

There are seven short stories
Six Vampire Academy books
Six Bloodlines books

Each short story is numbered in this review.

***One

The very first book, chronological timeline, is "Sunshine" in "Kisses From Hell". The book is compiled of several short stories by various writers.

In "Sunshine" Eric Dragomir meets Rhea Daniels. He is pretty much decided he was going to marry someone but it wasn't a love match, it was political. He met Rhea and was intrigued. He said her hair was like sunshine around her. He was smitten.

The short story is an easy read and really gives insight into the mindset of royals. They marry for business more than love. I believe he was raised to believe that having a mistress was just something royal men did. That's why it wasn't a big deal to him, I mean seriously, he never acknowledged Jill in anything. If he'd have been upstanding he would have at least mentioned her in his will.

***Two
"The Turn and The Flame" is Tasha Ozera's story. It is set right after she graduated from St. Vladimir's Academy. She is going to a ball that night but Lucas and Moira have decided to leave and go to their off Court home. They are taking Christian with them. This is the night they killed and became Strigoi.

What Tasha goes through emotionally this night and the few days following are what makes her into the person that does what she does in the Vampire Academy 6 book series.

This story is heartbreaking and makes you almost feel badly for Tasha, almost...

***Three
"From the Journal of Vasilisa Dragomir", another new short story in this edition.

This is written like a teenage girl writing in her journal/diary. It's short paragraphs of her observations. It starts out on January 11, a few weeks after the accident.

We get a LOT of details in the timeline from her journal. Like the date of the accident, the date they left campus, Rose's birthdate, how they managed to stay hidden, her birthday and that she turned 16 years old, and some of their adventures through the next year. They have settled in Portland and she stops writing.

***Four
"The Meeting".

This is chapter one of the novel Vampire Academy, by Richelle Mead, from Dimitri's point of view.

His impressions of Rose are so insightful. He sees "her", sees her dedication to Lissa, he's surprised by Rose-Lissa doesn't need a network to help her hide-she has Rose Hathaway, her passion and intensity, what she's willing to do to protect her Moroi, that she is behind in her training but she is still willing to take on all of them to save Lissa from them.

****"Vampire Academy"
This is where the book story begins.

It is written from Rose's point of view. She and Lissa are hiding out in Portland and Dimitri Belikov finds them. He takes them back to St. Vladimir's Academy in Montana. Rose and Dimitri realize they have feelings for each other but can't be together. He says if he allowed himself to love Rose then he was afraid he wouldn't throw himself in front of Lissa to protect her, he'd protect Rose instead.

***Five
"Hello, My Name is Rose Hathaway"

This story is set right after Lissa is kidnapped and tortured, it's a costume party that takes place in late November. Before the next novel, Frostbite, starts.

It's short and sweet, full of fun and laughter. We get to see Rose and Dimitri having a fun time together outside of the gym and training. The sneaking around they do and the risks they take are surely stories that will make you laugh too.

This story is one of my favorites. It's worth buying the book for just this one story.

*********************
I love this book and these short stories. I hope you'll read them.

Reading the series again from the list below.

These are the stories in timeline order.
From the Vampire Academy/Bloodlines world of Strigoi, Moroi, Dhampir, and human timeline.

"Sunshine" from Kisses in Hell a novella This is set when Lissa's parents meet.
"The Turn and The Flame"
"From The Journal of Vasilisa Dragomir"
"The Meeting"
"Vampire Academy" The girls are brought back in September. Tatiana visits November 1st.
"Hello, My Name is Rose Hathaway" A festival near the end of November.
"Frostbite" December-mid January
"Shadow Kiss" February 20-March 21
"Blood Promise" end of March-mid April
"Spirit Bound" late June-around July 16
"Last Sacrifice" over around the end of July, they are on the run only a week or so.

***Six
"Adrian's Lost Chapter" is his birthday, Aug 3.
Missing chapter for the beginning of Bloodlines, book 1.

***Seven
"Homecoming", a short story in the "Foretold: 14 Tales of Prophecy and Prediction" novella
Dimitri and Rose go to Russia to let his family know he's alive, restored. After Last Sacrifice and probably after Adrian's Lost Chapter. Rose was shot at the end of Last Sacrifice so it's likely they go to Russia after Adrian's birthday but before college classes start at Lehigh. Rose says it's summer in Siberia in Homecoming so it can't be any later than the next few weeks.

****************************BLOODLINES*******************************

"Adrian's Lost Chapter" Original first chapter of Bloodlines but Richelle Mead dropped it from the book. It's August 3, right after Lissa was coronated and made Queen.

Bloodlines spin off, Adrian, Eddie, Jill, Sydney Sage, and all new characters. Very little Rose/Dimitri or Lissa/Christian.

"Bloodlines"
"The Golden Lily"
"The Indigo Spell"
"The Fiery Heart"
"Silver Shadows"
"The Ruby Circle"

I have read this book multiple times and am surprised to find I've never written a review for it, better late than never?
In my opinion, the 10 year anniversary edition is the one to read, just because of the additional short stories at the end. We get the story if 9 year old Christian living through the turning of his parents, an inside look at Lissa's feelings through her personal diary, a student's tradition scavenger hunt at St. Vlad's, the capture of Rose and Lissa from Dimitri's mind, and the original book one of the series.
The story itself has always amazed me and kept me interested me time and time again. Rose with her undying loyal, but also wild and careless. Dimitri always putting himself last in everything. Lissa trying to look out for everyone. The characters are just amazing. I always like having good and bad of them. The magic use gave them another way to expand the story of the Moroi. This whole series was exceptional as far as I'm concerned. Highly RECOMMENDED

5 INCREDIBLE stars for this! Mainly, the last added chapter about the scavenger hunt. I love me some Rose and Dimitri action! Also, the insight to what happened with the Ozeras was enlightening, and I loved Dimitri's POV.

I only reread one of my favorite series per year (2018 was Harry Potter, 2017 was the All Souls Trilogy) so this year it was VA and it also happened to check off the "reread of a favorite book" category for the PopSugar Challenge. I had forgotten how much I love the extra stories in this edition.

Someone else reviewed that they never really liked the main characters in the VA series, but did with Bloodlines and I'm the other way around. I LOVE Rose and other than be a little more fit and a worse disciplinary record, she reminds me a lot of me. Lots of attitude. Lots of moxie. Lots of 'I really shouldn't have a crush on him'. Lots of 'I will stand in front of a moving train to protect you'. I just love Rose.

I am so looking forward to rereading the rest of the series this year!

If you haven't read this series and young adult fiction is something you like, I'm here as your personal saviour to tell you that you absolutely must read this book. This book changed me as a young adult. It was because of this book that I fell in love with reading. This book has so many fantastic qualities.

It stars FEMALE FRIENDSHIP. Not only that but they are three dimensional characters. Not only THAT but all of the other characters are also interesting and three dimensional, such a rarity nowadays in young adult literature

The Romance. Is. Amazing. So long are the days of protagonists falling for the toxic cocky playboy character. While this isn't that thank goodness it might be a little controversial to some so take it with a grain of salt.

The world, magic and the plot are really interesting. I just love everything about this book. It's the only book I've read multiple times so if that doesn't say something I don't know what will.

And to long time fans, if you haven't read this version you're missing out because there is a fantastic short story featuring Rose doing a scavenger hunt which will GIVE YOU LIFE.

This series is still and will always be fantastic. Highly recommend.

Dude so I might have spent 10 dollars for the 10th anniversary edition version. shhhhhh. Anyway I really liked Lissa's journal entries, I found then interesting because you really don't know that much of what they did while they were away from school. Christian/Tasha's story was fascinating as well. Queen Tatiana took interest in her and Tasha decided against it. I think after what she did in the last book it really informed us more about her story. OK and the scavenger hunt AH. yeah so even if no one reads it I just wanted to talk about it to someone so yk that's it

Oh man, if I had read this when I were 14… it would’ve been a life changer, that’s for sure. It was a super easy read, cringy in the best way, and I loved almost(!!!) every second of it.

I did NOT, however, appreciate the humongous (7 year) age gap between Rose (17) and Dimitri (24), I can tell you that. I get the 2010s were a drastically different time than this day and age, but stilllllllllllllll, why 17 and 24?? (Honestly… huge moral dilemma happening in me heart, guys. I don’t feel anything for their romance other than (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)ya know?)

I’m tired. Sleep well, y’all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This collection is pure gold for longtime Vampire Academy fans. Richelle Mead gifts readers with intimate, layered glimpses into characters we already love—adding emotional richness and new perspectives to key moments. The Turn and the Flame deepens our understanding of the Ozera tragedy, while From the Journal of Vasilisa Dragomir is a quiet, reflective piece that adds new depth to Lissa’s internal world. The Meeting is a treat for anyone who ever wanted to know what Dimitri really thought the first time he met Rose (spoiler: swoon-worthy). And Hello, My Name Is Rose Hathaway brings a lighter, fun tone that reminds us of the playful tension and loyalty at the heart of this series. Whether you’re rereading or revisiting after years, this anniversary edition adds emotional heft and delightful nostalgia to the original saga.

(Need to add notes.) VA is my favorite series. I read it several years ago and wanted to re-read to find out if my tastes have changed. They have not. I still love every minute. This time, I could pick up on all the little clues left for the mystery. Also, since I knew all the plot points, I could really delve into the characters. This year, I'm going to annotate my books and this was my first attempt. I felt pretty good marking up the book and writing my thoughts. I loved seeing the relationship between Dimitri and Rose develop, and it makes a lot more sense from Dimitri's side this time.

The stories at the end were such a treat and I didn't realize I was getting them when I purchased the book. My favorite is the last story. I'm going to re-read those, too, and annotate. Overall, I still really enjoy this series, the world and my beloved characters.
