A GREAT STORY - REPRESENTATIVE OF MANY YOUNG AMERICANS' SERVICE IN THE ARMY AIRFORCE IN WWII EUROPE, WITH EXCEPTIONAL CHARACTERS & ACTION

From leaving college early to the year or more of Flight Training in several stages, to reporting for duty with a Squadron in England to the Evolution of American Fighter Air Craft leading to the Ultimate Long Range Fighter of the war, The P-51Mustang; including Action escorting Bombers deep into Germany, Dog Fights with skilled German Pilots, Ground Attacks on German Airfields & Rail, Road, & River transport leading up to D Day. Plus insights into life in England & France under attack from The Air, and the brave endurance of the their people With an emotional Love Story to top it off. Actually even more of the love between comrades in battle, their leaders & support groups. A Great Tale & Examples to Inspire, consistent with history.
Followed with an equally inspiring story of the air war in the Pacific leading to the ultimate victory over Japan.

Relaxing , interesting reading

Gave it a four star not because it is a riveting book or has a surprising ending or has a lot of steamy romance or is a story about one man single handily wiping out a gang of evil characters all armed with knives and rifles. Rather this book kept me reading to the end because I could believe I was reading a true personal account of a pilot flying during WWII, and because I felt like real history was carefully observed and the piloting of the different aircraft was adequately described. So, the book kept my attention, was easy to put down when I needed a break, and gave me some good time away from science fiction and end of world and sea stories.

Great Books

I have read all 3 books in the series and loved them. The description and narratives were so realistic I felt I was there with each of the main characters. All aviation books about WWII have always fascinated me and led to my decision to pursue a career in military flying. Even though I chose the Navy, I have great respect for the Army aviators who flew during this time whether fighters or bombers. The author’s combat descriptions are so detailed and authentic, I felt I was flying the plane. I highly recommend this series to anyone who’s a fan of flying and of WWII aviation action.

Fantastic read

This book again underlines what we all owe to our veterans. But it also vividly reminds us of what we owe to the "common populace" as well. How in God's name do you explain the numbing terror that you learn to accept as normal? This book explores that. It also explores the relationship between countries which have sustained, and been devastated by, localized on the ground war and us Yanks. With the exception of some scattered attacks on both coasts, the last time Yanks endured this was the Civil War. The Navy is excluded from this sentiment. They sailed into harm's way long before Pearl.

An RM. WW II Military Aviation Action Adventure titled ("Red Flight, Break!) (GFAIEI - WWII)

RM. has penned a military aviation action adventure that takes place, during World War II, in And around London, England. An American pilot is trained as a combat fighter pilot in a civilian and military environment. Upon becoming a successful fighter pilot he is sent to England where he joins the war with his fellow officers and enlisted men and women. Thus is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Good Read For War Conditions in Europe (late ‘43-late ‘44)

This was not as good as his book about the Navy Pilot! Too many good things happened to the central character! I enjoyed the book, but it didn’t gripe me with the action of aerial combat. The last things you do before crash landing is to tighten your shoulder straps; press your neck and head into your headrest; and last when you can no longer control the plane put you hands on the aircraft dash to avoid hitting the aircraft dash!

I really enjoyed reading Roger Maxim's books. This is a great story. It walks the reader through the inter stories of the war in London and the hazards associated with Germany attacks from the air. There is a hidden emotional battle between the two allies as the American Military pulls along side the Brit's as the US joints into this war. This battle is not only seen in the Military but as well with the civilian population. The author's keen insight into this struggle added greatly to the book.
Thanks. May the future reader enjoy.

Excellent read

Being a retired Army officer and the son of a retired Navy pilot; I found this novel to not only being a thoroughly enjoyable read but the portrayal of the characters were exceptionally authentic. I can say that there will always be those that we admire f o r their leadership and their care for the welfare of their personal, and there will always be that "Pappy" in all organizations. Just don't ask how they did it, just accept it a n d thank them.

Outstanding!

Roger Maxim has written a novel that not only makes the reader proud of it's military but pulls the reader into a wonderful human story presented at a time when the world was in a World War. Mr. Maxim takes you through the history, horror, and glory of that time. You will smile and maybe even get tears in your eyes and a lump in your throat but I do know you will also enjoy this book.

Interesting and upbeat WWII novel

This story is a soup to nuts tale of a WWII fighter pilot from training through fighting over France and Germany. Excellent description of all phases and told in the first person as if he’s sitting in your living room telling war stories. Characters are well developed and life in war-worn England is vivid, but the theme is upbeat. A good read.

Excellent writing

I liked the history of this group of wonderful people told as an interesting casual talk among friends. This is especially important to me as the niece of one of the men who served in England during most of the terrors of the V1 & 2 rockets destruction and death of so many. He also met and married a wonderful English rose and brought her to live in the USA. I am so pleased those days of peril will not be forgotten.

This is a very good book to sit back and read saying so I was not feeling very good but this book helped me to enjoy myself because it is not a blood and gore war book like most of the books of this genre this was fast reading but it was nice and innocent and hard to put down

Great story

I enjoy the aviation part of the story, but also the human - shot down and working with the SOE. The romance was very well handled and of course, the wedding with all the flight personnel. I especially liked the fact that there was no foul language in the book..As a Navy retiree I know how service people talk. Much is unnecessary. A Great Story.

Fantastic!!!!!

I loved this book! It had every thing I look for in a book. Love, action and shooting at a really bad guy.
If I stay up till 4:30 in the morning to finish a book, it has to be really good. I looked up book # 2 and added it to my kindle!
I strongly recommend this for a fantastic few hours of reading.

Amazing Writing

This book had my interest from the beginning as he graduated college and joined the Air Force thru fighter training?. Then onto fight in+ WW2. I learned many facts about the men who fought and their planes. At times my heart was beating so fast, I had to slow down and catch my breath. I recommend this book to those that like great WW2 novels.

My full approval here.s the ‘real McCoy

This story is so realistically written as to be exciting and difficult to put down. I am a student of this awful war and surely know when a story is presented in perfectly logical and understandable form. This one is the absolute real McCoy.

Every nice story! I only wish the author had continued her and told us the rest of his story!!

Good description of Arial combat. Too heavily balanced toward training. Book ends too soon. Where did the author fly next?

? Pacific?

Great History

I read and enjoy a lot of books each year. This one rates at the top of the list. For the first time I realized what it was like to be in England from 1939 to 1944, though people.

True to life war story

First I would like to say it's a very well written story. I enjoyed learning all about what it takes to become a fighter pilot. I found it refreshing that a story was told without swearing and sex. The pilots from WWll are special bred.

A very impressive personal account

I frequently wondered if I was reading a true story or a novel because of the exquisite detail about the characters and the flying experience. I believed every word and ended with moist eyes.

Good, clean well written

Using well known historical facts related to such things as Patton’s 3rd army, French Marquis resistance, U.S. Army Air Corp (sometimes referred to as AIR FORCE), the author pens a realistic story that COULD have happened in reality.

AS Wonderful Story of Military and England in World War 11.

From the very beginning to the beautiful ending, this story is very easy to get lost in, as the boy from the Army meets the girl of his dreams. I can hardly wait to read the next book to fo!low.
