Now that I have regained some of the feelings in my fingers from lack of oxygen caused by hyperventilation let me share with you what the last page of this book was like for me.
He went WHERE!!! No she didn't! No she DID NOT! Now I didn't see that one coming. How did she... Who did she... GIRL YOU NEED TO SMACK THE TASTE OUT OF HER MOUTH! Wait. WHAT???? NOOOOO!!!!! *** frantically pushing buttons on my reader as hyperventilation sets in *** Okay. (GASP) Okay. At least I have a sample of the next book to give me a clue as to what happens next. Whew! *** breathing begins to return to normal and fingernails begins to lose that yucky sick color they developed from the lack of oxygen *** *** reading of the sample begins *** Wait. Huh? Who the heck are these people? *** reading of the sample ends *** THIS SNIPPET IS FROM AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT UNRELATED BOOK!! *** frantic search on Amazon for book 2 EVEN THOUGH THE REVIEWS TOLD ME THAT IT WASN'T OUT only to find... NOTHING! No hint or word on when this finishes*** Thus began the interesting combination of inappropriate words I'm not sure were ever supposed to be strung together.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! lol
Okay, now that we have that unpleasant business out of the way let's talk about this book.
Main characters are Audri (Audrielle) and Cai (Cairo). She is a beautiful, sassy BBW. A relationship that didn't work out as well as a mother who constantly degrades her about her weight - REGARDLESS as to who is around to here - has caused her self esteem to plummet. He is a white man. Adopted by a West Indian woman at a young age he was raised as her son. A beautiful face and body could have caused him to be extremely full of himself but he is extremely grounded and down to earth.
They find that they are kindred souls. Cai hearing Audri belittled rings true to him. Being one of a small handful of Caucasians attending school in a majority African American school caused him to face racial slang names and to be questioned on everything from his choice in what color woman to date to what he chooses to do with his hair.
Everything sounds like it's wonderful. Queue the rainbows and purple unicorns, cut to the sappy music and fade to the happily ever after... right? *** clears throat *** Ahem. Didn't you read my rant at the beginning of this review? Not so much! This couple goes up, down and around. They are faced with hard decisions, tough situations and serious secrets as they try to find their way to each other. In the background they have a cast of supporting characters that have enough of their own issues swirling around and through their business to have their very own seats on the Maury Povitch and Jerry Springer stages!
I want to say that I'm extremely angry at this cliffhanger. (This isn't even really a cliffhanger more like a free fall from an airplane where you get pushed out in the middle of a conversation and now you realize your chute won't open.) I want to say that... but I can't. The truth is that the author did an excellent job of drawing me into the story and into the characters. Such a great job that I'll be sitting here waiting on the next book even if I am anxiously biting my fingernails, rocking back forth and mumbling to myself.
Was this a recommend? Even with the crazy ending? HECK YEAH!
I am going to go with a 3.5.. couldn't really decide between that and a 4... HOWEVER there are certain things that sealed the deal on the 3.5.
So this book is kinda unnecessarily messy. Like many times I was like.. okay so this wouldn't have been an issue if IDK you just told the truth.. but whatever it is what it is.
Now if I could start a line up of characters in this book that I would smack it would go...
1. Her mother- I would smack her about 3 good times.. HARD like the smack heard around the world hard.
2. The best friend- Just 2 good smacks for how freaking stupid her reasoning was for doing stupid ish.
and last but not least....
3. Audri- Who in the hot hell does not handle their business after that many hot damn years? I didn't see that happening but I knew something needed to happen in order for there to be a part 2.
Soooo... I am off to catch a even bigger headache and read part 2. OH and I never knew of Robbie Gambrell.... I googled him and he is so damn hot... just looked at his pic for a good solid 5 mins. NICE!
Thoroughly enjoyed this read. The deceit went to an all time high. I hope Cai & Audri get it together. There is still and underline issue with why Alex really wanted to marry Cai. First read from Genesis Woods. Very interested to see how the story will unfold. #GreatRead #ForSureFan
This installment of Cai and Audri’s story is whew ! I’m talking about baby mama drama for your ass! And I can’t wait to see what happens next🤦🏾♀️. Come on Cai I pulling for you bro🤣🤣🤣
Nope. I did not believe the love between the main characters, Cairo & Audrielle. They meet and stare for a hot minute and then don't meet again until weeks later. Their second meeting is arranged because Audri's sister is dating Cairo's brother. face to face again. Mind you, Audri is on the rebound from a 2-year relationship that didn't work out (a couple of weeks prior) so the reader is supposed to believe she falls for the rebound guy. Nope, I didn't buy it. On a side note: I did love the love Audri had for her best (sister) friend, Rima and their "Spit Truth" pledge which compels them to tell the truth, in a judgement free zone. Be Warned: Slang, Profanity & Typos Abound.
This was a very good read. I liked the relationship that Audrielle and Cairo had. I was looking forward to the wedding, but not the shocking secret. Alexandria needs to be knocked down a few pegs with her arrogant self.
I loved the book but I am tired of these cliffhangers.Let me know before I buy so I can make the decision where to purchase now or wait till the next one comes out.
Ok so for the most part I liked the story the dynamic of Cai and Audra trying to figure things out to be together while forces are trying to pull them apart I can work with. What annoyed me the most about the story is why the author felt it necessary to keep emphasizing on Audri’s weight. Ok we know she’s plus size we know her mom wants her to be smaller and there were some comments from other characters about her size but making her believe she couldn’t have a baby because of her weight was far fetched plus size women have babies every day the more the book focused on her size being the cause of things happening to her kinda start to turn me off. Also what’s the point of Rima I get she’s the best friend but honestly her POV could have been left out and why is Ness tripping over what she has going on it would have made sense to give him a POV if Rima was going to have one. I’ll read the last book to see how it all turns out.
This was amazing! That darn Alex, I have a feeling that she is definitely not truthful about what will have her 50 million richer. So does Ari really have a reason to be suspicious? Audri and Ari's mama Kirk my whole being.. Great job!! Wonderful book! You will not disappointed with reading this series. So far..I most definitely am not!
Really liked this book. It flowed very well and kept me interested from beginning to end. I was not excited to gut punch from Eli when he should up. The crazy thing is I think Her bestie is behind all of it and it go hurt her even more when it come out. Finna start part 2 now.
Great book! Once again Genesys is a great storyteller. The grammatical errors are better and I HATE ALEX! I BET SHE'S NOT EVEN CARRYING HIS BABY IT'S PROBABLY HER DADDIES BABY LOL I hope Audri and Cairo gets their happily ever after. I can't believe she was preggo all this time! On to book three lol
This is book one of three. I read this story a year and some change ago waiting for the next to drop. I saw the series was complete and did a refresher. This book is about a woman name Audri and her finding the right man for her. Audri has it together. She's fly, on home, car, business the works. Problem is the right man to treat her as she deserved. Enter Cairo a gorgeous man who sees her for who she is. Because people see weight before seeing Audri it sometimes makes her doubt herself being the baddest chick she is. Cairo wants to show her he wants the position. But, as you know it cant be all smooth sailing. Somebody gots to put a monkey wrench in the plan. This book I didnt put down. At first it was a cliffhanger but, she's since finished the series. If you love IR romances, with mad hot sex, fights, drama, ride or die family and friends, and older people with wisdom. This is your series. Trust.
This was a great story. I loved how the story flowed. I loved how smart the mom is!!! I really hope Eli and Alex get what's coming to them!!!! I will continue to read the series..
Y’all I tried. I really did. I could not get into this story. I get no connection what do ever to these characters. I only made it to page 75. Heaven help. I even read reviews of others who loved the series, but I’m sure they were reading a different book.
3.5 stars for this one. I was really frustrated with the level of misunderstanding, lack of communication and overall growth in at least some characters, but the ending was a big surprise while other parts of the story frustrated me as a couple where typical and very predictable. This does need some editorial help, but good story with a surprise ending.
This is book is definitely a page turner. So many snakes in this book. I can’t wait until the full truth is revealed. Alex needs her butt whopped, Sarah ain’t ish. Eli is an opportunist and Audri’s mom is the worst. Can’t wait to read part 3
