This was barely okay for me. Too much angst on Taylor’s part over all lawmen being cheaters and the fact that her best friend was the girl Taylor’s new love-interest went with in high school and she didn’t want to lose her best friend over it. Really? Some of this book was just kind of silly. She couldn’t forgive Ryan a drunken indiscretion when he was 17 or 18? WTF?

I did like all the players, Taylor, Ryan, Meghan and Kelsey but the story was too simple. Nothing was really going on, except Ryan trying to get Taylor and her holding back, over and over again. Up until the very end. Until Taylor was reminded that she wasn’t perfect so how could she expect Ryan to be? Especially when he was a teenager. Like I said, it was silly.

And the worst thing about this novella? When I got stuck on one word and kept staring at it and wondering what the author was thinking, FOUR times. The funny thing is she used the words cock and dick and rod and manhood. Why in the world would any author use the word “penis” in a sexual situation? That’s a word you use with your doctor. I think I'll pass on any more from this series. I don't think I could read about another "penis."

Cupid Stupid: Contemporary Western Small Town Romance
Return To Cupid, Texas Book 1
by Sylvia McDaniel
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I absolutely enjoyed this hilariously sexy series from Sylvia McDaniel. This story
made me laugh through out reading this it. This is the first book of the series and it a fantastic start. You will adore Sylvia McDaniel characters and their development is amazing, one could close ones eyes be a part of the story. The story is fantastic and entertaining. The characters are fun and witty. I love when the heroine is confident within herself. The story features three girlfriends, Taylor, Meghan and Kelsey who after college started a career but for one reason or another decided to return to their hometown of Cupid Texas. They meet for a girls night out on the town, so after drinking far to much wine they start to discuss why they don't have a man in their lives. As the discuss takes place Kelsey bring up the old Cupid Superstition about dancing around the Cupid statue naked has gotten all the cheerleaders that danced around the statue married and holding babies in their arms. This is where the humor starts and don't stop. The ladies decides it's time to have some fun so they grab one more bottle of wine for courage and off to the statue they go. As they are dancing the sheriff shows up and they run off without their clothes in different directions. This is Taylor and Ryan's story. The sheriff catches Taylor, she try's to hide her lady parts as she moves around trying to get warm the sheriff decides to her even though he rather keep looking. Taylor like a lot of us, has some confidence issues after she found her fiancé cheating on her. She is working on believing in herself again but she don't trust lawmen. But as the old saying says There is nothing better for the old self esteem than to have sex on legs, otherwise known as Sheriff Ryan chasing after you. The chemistry between Ryan and Taylor is white hot! Ryan seems damn near perfect so far. The romantic in me sure hopes he stays that way. Taylor deserves a happy ending, but that’s somewhere off in the future. For now Taylor is unsure of Ryan because she doesn't know how or why Ryan broke her friend Kelsey's heart so just trying to get to the first official date, which is no small feat when you throw in a ex-girlfriend, a broken heart, and a secret Ryan has, however, he will not be deterred. You will absolutely love this book! It is quirky, romantic, intriguing, surprising, and of course sexy! This first story in the series chronicles their hilarious meeting and road to their romance, which is nothing short of outrageous.

What could possibly go wrong when 3 grown women decide to act on the Valentine’s Day superstition of dancing around the town cupid statue . . . while naked. Taylor getting over an ex-finance that cheated on her and is getting married on Valentine’s Day. Ryan has his work cut out for him to work his way into Taylor’s heart – it won’t be easy. There is a lot of past the is brought up that needs to be worked out and the characters have grown a lot since their high school days. Looking forward to watching Coach get under Meghan’s skin in the next book!

Cupid Stupid

Funny and romantic. Taylor is back in Cupid and trying to heal from a cheating fiance. While on a girls night out they decide to do something most did in high school. Sheriff Ryan was used to calls about what he called Cupid Stupid. He just never thought he would see Taylor.

Cupid Stupid is a contemporary romance featuring a trio of friends who decide to try their small town’s superstition to see if it will bring them love. Taylor claims she isn’t looking for love. Her former fiancé, a police officer, cheated on her so she is reluctant to begin another relationship – especially with another police officer. Unfortunately for her, Sheriff Ryan Jones is the person who finds her & her friends dancing naked around the Cupid fountain. The friends run leaving Taylor to face the music alone. Taylor and Ryan are instantly attracted to each other. Ryan is ready to start a relationship, but Taylor is not so sure. Ryan used to date one of Taylor’s BFFs in high school and Taylor has sworn of law men in general. The story is told in dual points of view, which I loved. Ryan is keeping a big secret and it helped getting to see how he felt about the situation. The book sets up the romantic couplings for the next two books, so readers will want to continue the series. I recommend this book to readers who like low angst, relationship driven romance.

I loved how the book starts off. Best friends and booze always leads to good decisions...or not. Taylor is almost arrested after she and her friends do a naked dance at the Cupid fountain. Taylor is picked up by the town sheriff, Ryan, who is also her friend's ex-boyfriend.

I did enjoy the book, but there were times that I was frustrated with Taylor's attitude. Ryan dated her friend, Kelsey, in high school. It's been years since they broke up, yet Taylor is afraid to tell Kelsey.

It was a fun read. I'm looking forward to book two.

Cute, heart-warming story.

You know what's going to happen when a woman or three get drunk and decide to dance and chant around a Cupid statue. They're going to get caught in their birthday suit. Talk about a meet-cute or a meet-again-cute (That doesn't sound right). Add a little light blackmail, a lie or two, and undeniable attraction and you have a captivating story you can't stop reading.

I need to read the next few books in this series to discover how Meghan, and Kelsey's stories unfold.

I thought this was OK until they reconciled.

Ryan had gone out with Taylor's best friend, Kelsey in high school, but Kelsey and Ryan broke up when Ryan cheated on her (note: Kelsey never told her friends why they broke up). Fast forward a number of years and Taylor is back in town after her fiance cheated on her. After the three friends get a little drunk, they decide to fulfill the local legend by dancing naked around the Cupid statue in the middle of town. Unfortunately, Sheriff Ryan catches Taylor. When he wants to have a relationship with Taylor, she flat out asks him if he's ever cheated on anyone. He lies and says "no", so things progress, but Taylor wants to keep it a secret to spare Kelsey's feelings. Not surprisingly, Taylor finds out toward the end of the book that he'd lied.

That's where I was ready to throw my tablet against the wall. Ryan apologizes to Kelsey and Kelsey is determined to convince Taylor to reconcile since Ryan lied so Taylor would let their relationship develop. ***Ryan seems to think that lying to Taylor is OK if it gets him what he wants. He justifies it, not apologizes, and she accepts him back way too easily. Lying is lying!

CUPID STUPID is the first book in the Return to Cupid, TX series. While each book does focus on a different couple, it is still best to read them in the order of release.

From beginning to end, I enjoyed reading this story as three best friends decide that it’s never too late in life to test the superstition that most of their classmates tried out when they were still teenagers. Taylor, Meghan, and Kelsey had me in stitches from Galentine drinks to dancing around the Cupid statue in the middle of town (naked, mind you), to figuring out what to do about the fallout of that dancing.

This is Taylor’s story, along with the Sheriff, Ryan, who caught her while her friends took off in other directions.

Where I most associated with Taylor was in the lack of confidence. After rejections, it’s hard to believe that another man will see something good where one has belittled and shamed. Allowing chemistry to lead the way is a good start. Communication is the rest of the formula for a positive new relationship.

My only complaint is the ending. I thought I had hit the jackpot and we were going to find out about another couple. Instead it was a teaser leading to the next book. Yes, I’m whining! I don’t have the next book! Of course, I’m looking forward to getting it and reading more of the results of that little rascal Cupid’s magic.

Note: while I was given this book as a gift, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Taylor and two friends follow through on the legend of the statue of Cupid in the town square. If you dance around the statue naked, you will meet your true love and marry before one year has passed.

When the sheriff drives up, Taylor is the only naked woman who is captured. They have known one another since high school and he is a kind man. He does not arrest her, he helps her pick up the clothing and purses of her two friends, he wraps her in a blanket and drives her home.

Ryan, dated one of her best friends in high school. Taylor is getting over a cheating fiancee. They are both attracted to one another and eventually one thing leads to another.

This book did not do it for me.

Ryan was not completely honest with Taylor Taylor was not honest with her friends. I have lived in small town Texas, and I must say, keeping any kind of large secret has about the same chance as everyone giving up football in Texas.

The entire thing seems to move very quickly. She keeps saying they can't do this and then they do this.

I wanted to like this book a ton.

I understood the characters. Ms McDaniel develops them quite well. All the back stories are well done. But, basically I simply did not care much about anyone.

I am sure it is just me, but it just didn't enchant me.

This story started off so funny! Taylor, Megan, and Kelsey hadn't seen each other in years so they were celebrating with lots of wine. In their drunken state, they decided to test the town superstition by doing the Cupid dance around the town statue. Apparently, by dancing naked around the statue, it would help them find their true love. While Taylor didn't want anything to do with men ever again, after finding her ex in bed with another woman, she went along with her friends' plan. They were having a great time until the sheriff came along. Megan and Kelsey ran off (without clothes) but Taylor was caught.

I really liked this cute story with its incredible characters. Ryan was a great guy, who had had a crush on Taylor in their youth, and hoped he would now have a chance to act on his feeling for her. But while Taylor was also interested in Ryan, she had decided that all lawmen were cheaters, like her ex who was a lawman. On top of that, Ryan had dated her best friend, Kelsey, in high school, so she thought she shouldn't date her friend's ex. Taylor and Ryan definitely have chemistry but will they be able to overcome the issues keeping them apart?

This sweet romance is not only funny but has some dramatic and sexy moments, too. It's a great read.

Taylor has moved back to her home town of Cupid TX after finding her fiancé (a lawman) in bed with another woman. On valentine’s day she and her friends celebrate with a few drinks and decide to test the old town superstition of dancing naked around the city’s Statue of Cupid. When they see the Sheriff’s car coming they all take off naked in different directions. Taylor is the unlucky one that gets caught by none other than her best friend’s old high school boyfriend Ryan Jones. Ryan is interested in dating Taylor, but knows she is reluctant to get into an new relationship especially with someone in law enforcement. Taylor wants to be with Ryan, but is afraid of what her friend Kelsey, Ryan’s ex, will think about her dating him. Also, what is the mystery surrounding why they broke up so suddenly in high school? Taylor finds that sometimes to be happy in life you have to take chances, forgive, and just keep moving forward. It was slow getting started, but it builds a good foundation for the story and the series. A good HEA ending. I was given a free ARC of this book for an honest book review. My rating is 4 stars.

It All Began With A Dance

I had no idea Sylvia McDaniel was such a great author. She is really talented.
I love Cupid Stupid! It's so much fun to read, I adore the characters, especially Jack! Every book should have a Jack in it!
Taylor talks her 2 best friends into doing the Cupid Stupid dance with her, around the Cupid statue in the town square. The dance involves dancing around the statue naked and if you do this you are "guaranteed" to find love and get married, soon.
Naturally, the sheriff shows up, the women split up and Taylor gets caught. Instead of taking Taylor to jail, the sheriff, Ryan (ex-HS boyfriend of Taylor's best friend) takes her home with a warning. To thank Ryan, Taylor invites him to dinner. It becomes obvious to them that there is a mutual attraction and Ryan is all for pursuing it but Taylor has been badly burned in a semi-recent past relationship and also hesitates because Ryan's HS relationship with Taylor's bff, ended very badly. Can Ryan convince Taylor to give him a chance? If Taylor finds out why Ryan and her bff, split up will she be able to forgive him? And how would her friends react to her seeing Ryan?

It's a nice introduction to the series. Three friends who feel that they are "on the shelf" at the ripe old age of 25. Then after a drunken session of commiserations, they decide to put the legend of Cupid Stupid to the test. Dancing naked around the fountain of the statue of Cupid at midnight! And it's freezing cold. Brrrr...

Meghan and Kelsey manage to escape when the sheriff arrives, but Taylor is left to face him. She is still in the buff. How embarrassing! Ryan, the sheriff takes pity on her and takes her home instead of locking her up. He has noticed her curves, although he remains professional. From then on, he is unable to keep her out of his mind and decides to persue this attraction. There are complications. She is just recovering from a break up with her cheating ex, and he dated her best friend in the past. Hence, their relationship starts with a lie from Ryan and Taylor withholding the truth from her friends. Will they eventually right this wrong and start an honest relationship?

It's a short and funny romance with some laugh out loud moments. The storyline and characters are fun. An interesting read.

Adorable story

This is a new author for me. Superstition surrounds the Cupid fountain and three friends who should know better decided to try it. This is Taylor’s story. She’s in her mid twenties. Running her parents restaurant while they take trip like in that movie “Leisure Seeker”. She’s gun shy ever since finding her now ex in bed with the woman who is now his wife.
Ryan is the town sheriff. Former military and the high school ex of Taylor’s bestie Kelsey, is the one to find these three dancing naked in the fountain as per the superstition. While the others scurry into the night it’s Taylor who he apprehended.
My favorite part of the story were the conversations between widower Jack and Taylor at the restaurant. The friendship between the three young women is a strong one. After a bit of angst and a little self enlightenment there is a HEA. I wished Taylor had talked a bit to Ryan about what’s going on with her parents. That has to be stressful and heartbreaking and yet it was just thrown out there and nothing. Otherwise it’s a cute read.

Fun Book Concept

Taylor and Ryan's story...Taylor has returned to Cupid to work in her parent's diner after breaking up with her cheating fiance. Ryan is the Sheriff. There is a superstition that if a person dances around the statue of Cupid at midnight on Valentine's Day, that person will find love. Three friends spending the holiday together have a little too much to drink and decide to test the superstition. The Sheriff catches Taylor. He wants to date her. She's wary of getting involved, but mutual attraction is hard to resist.

The story is humorous and sexy. However, there is so much second guessing by Taylor about the future of a relationship that she was clearly enjoying that the story eventually seemed a little too wishy washy for me. That little personal pet peeve aside, Cupid Stupid is definitely worth reading and I plan to read the second book in the series right after I finish this review.

'I don't need a man'

Famous last words! No, Taylor doesn't need a man, she doesn't even think she wants a man...but Cupid and the Love Fountain have other ideas, as does one very sexy Sheriff!
A second chance love story with a difference, this is a refreshing twist and has a great cast of characters to launch the series. Ryan and Taylor haven't seen each other since high school but their chemistry now is off the charts. Taylor however resists this chemistry with so many excuses: he's her besties ex, she has major relationship baggage, a new career to launch and they are back in their small home town - it would just be wierd...wouldn't it? Or could it actually be perfect?
Lots of reminiscing, laughter, poignant moments, girly hijinks, a crazy town superstition, naked dancing at midnight and love, a fantastic first book in the series - this book is a free download and the rest of the series is on Kindle Unlimited....perfect!

Handcuffed At The Statue Of Love -
Taylor and Ryan’s first interaction as adults was nothing either one of them expected not wanted. However, the chemistry and sexual tension between them was explosively hot, so they subsequently embarked on a secret tryst. However, insecurities and secrets kept them from fully exploring their true feeling. Unfortunately, they forgot that secrets aren’t forever and feelings can’t be controlled. It would take the most unlikely person to make them realise they were destined to be together.

I downloaded this book free and once I read it, I was really happy that I did. Sylvia McDaniel showed her talent for storytelling, by making the story so believable, that I actually wanted to move to their town and make friends with the girls. I was hooked on the story at the beginning and I didn’t want to stop reading until I reached the end. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Taylor Braxton goes back to her hometown to get her life back together. Her ex-fiance cheated on her with one of her best friends and she is done with love and men, most definitely cheaters.

One drunken night with her friends and they are dancing naked around the Cupid statue in the town square of Cupid, Texas. The legend says if you dance naked for cupid and chant you will find you true love. Taylor wants her friends to find love so they dance for cupid.

Sheriff Ryan Jones never dreamed he would find ADULT women dancing around the statue but he is prepared to arrest them all....until he sees Taylor.

I loved this story, it was built around a very cute superstition. I liked this so much that I have already ordered Cupid Scores. I highly recommend this story as well as the others in Once Upon a Valentine.

I couldn't stand the main characters in this story. All of the characters are supposed to be in their twenties but their maturity levels and the way they act is like reading about 18 year old children. It was awful!

The entire "relationship" (although booty call better defines all Ryan & Taylor shared) should have been cut off from the beginning. Taylor knew Ryan was one of her BFF's former boyfriends; game over right there. Then Ryan chose to lie to Taylor from the beginning on a direct question from Taylor & not just a lie of omission. He never bothered to admit the lie; he was found out. Both of these items are deal breakers. I couldn't stand to see these two together; terrible book.

Easy read with an Happy Ever After

This is a very simple story with likeable characters. There is some repetitive thoughts. Though that's not enough to put me off.
So this book starts with a silly, funny act that gets the MC lady in the back of hunky police officer who just so happens to be our MCs leading guy. The beginning pretty much sets you up with what's going to happen. Then the rest of the book is just convincing the MC she has no choice. This is what fate has in store for you. Yet don't worry it's all good.

I liked the characters, all of them. Though I question the authenticity of the lie... I will just leave to at that. You can make up your own mind.

I say if you want a cute easy read that involves either a old town superstition, men in uniform, and happily ever after then this is a book for you.

Taylor Braxton lives in Cupid, Texas to test a theory of a Cupid superstition on Valentine’s Day. Taylor and her friends Megan and Kelsey were drunk and decide to do the Cupid dance naked in front of the town’s statue to help them find their true love. While dancing naked around the statue Sheriff Ryan Jones sees Taylor and is caught by Sheriff Jones while Megan and Kelsey run away. Ryan had a crush on Taylor when they were children, but Taylor has vowed off men after catching her cheating ex-boyfriend who is also a cop. Taylor has a change of heart after Ryan pursues her. I really enjoyed this amazing contemporary romance .

Cupid Stupid by Sylvia McDaniel is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms McDaniel has delivered a well-written book and loaded it with amazing, lovable characters. Taylor and Ryan's story is full of humor, drama and sizzle. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to reading more from Sylvia McDaniel in the future. Cupid Stupid is book 1 of the Return To Cupid, Texas Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

There was something about the writing style that didn't work for me. I'd read a scene and then the author would explain it and describe it instead of just feeling it in the moment. Too much telling and not near enough showing. The characters were okay and likable, but a little more emotion in their makeup would have gone a long ways. The editing was clean and I finished it, but not interested in reading anymore of this series. There's just too much good stuff out there and life is nothing more than a limited number of minutes to be wasting them.

Cupid Stupid is the first book in the Return To Cupid, Texas series. Legend says dance naked while saying a little rhyme at midnight around Cupid's statue in the town square, to find your true love. So Taylor Braxton and her best friends, Kelsey and Meghan, go to Cupid, Texas and go for it. When the sheriff answers a call about the newest set of dancers, he's surprised to see Taylor as one of them. Will more than one get their wish? I really enjoyed this story, Can't wait to read the next one!

This book was OK. It was a very fast read with some decent characters. The writing is ok. I am not sure what exactly it was, but I felt like I was reading a high school paper. Something about it lacked emotional maturity to me.

The superstition is fun and the idea of going back home again and finding a new relationship with someone from before can be kind of fun. Nothing was unlikable about the characters, but I didn't connect with them and didn't actually really care about their HEA. Even Taylor's friends didn't really make me care enough to want to read their stories. Actually, the only character I particularly liked was her customer Jack. He was a sweet older man who had lost his wife of many years and had good stories/advice.
