Along the banks of the Ohio River, the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, has been the home of quiet pleasures and safety for Adrienne Reynolds and her fourteen-year-old daughter Skye since the death of Adrienne's husband four years ago. Their sense of safety is shattered, however, when Adrienne and Skye find the body of one of Adrienne's best friends, Julianna, in a once-elegant, now abandoned hotel named La Belle Riviere. La Belle has a long history of misfortunes, but Julianna's murder is the most gruesome.

Evidence indicates Julianna that had a secret lover whom she met regularly in the hotel, and who could have been with her in her final moments. The only person who knows this lover's identity is the hotel caretaker, Claude Duncan. But Claude is quickly silenced-drugged and burned to death in his small cottage on the grounds of La Belle the night after Julianna's death. One by one, people close to Adrienne are brutally murdered, and it looks as though she and Skye are the next targets of a fierce killer with a shocking secret.

I especially liked this mystery because Adrienne Reynods is not a detective or a private eye. She is an ordinary--though very intelligent and courageous--woman caught up in a mystery when she finds the body of her best friend in a hotel room. (The summary provided by Goodreads gives a good idea of what the book is about, so I will not repeat any of that info.)

As Adrienne struggles to find out what is going on, murders continue to pile up. It seems that instead of no suspects, there are several possible suspects.

(I am reading cheerfully along, and bang! "Wait--the person just murdered was the one I suspected as the villain" Then the author kills my second suspect and I am totally lost....)

The twists and turns are very very well done and the suspense keeps building. I do not want to put in any spoilers; but the ending waas a neat, unexpected twist. Fast paced, easy to read, good characterization--well worth your time.

Recommended for any and all mystery readers who want an exciting read!

I enjoyed this book and tried to guess who the guilty party was and guessed wrong.

There seemed suggestions of some of the other characters being guilty and not the actual culprit

the book is about Adrienne Reynolds a singlemother after she finds her best friend dead in a rundown hotel and soon finds that her life is in danger and she is unsure of who to trust

Like all carlene thompson books it is someone close to the main characteer who is the culprit but at least this time they were actually killing others and trying to frighten her as they had some love and not just the faking affection for the heroine as per the other villians in Carlene thompsons books.

Carlene thompson tends to write about a heroine returning to her old town who either ran away from something in her past or discovers something when she returns which places her in danger. The culprit who is always close friend/relative of heroine has pretended to like her but hates her

However the books are still enjoyable as a light read as long as you are not the type to mind the fact that the storyline in her books are similar (even as far as the reasons for the crime is always to do with murder or love wanted but not recieved)

Despite a somewhat slow start, Share No Secrets is a mystery novel about a small town in West Virginia that is suffering from a series of murders. The lovely Julianna Brent is murdered in the town's historic old hotel and childhood best friend Adrienne Reynolds spends the duration of the book trying to solve Julianna's murder, resolve her love life, raise her teenage daughter Skye and avoid becoming a murder victim herself!
Having only recently become a reader of Ms. Thompson's, I have to admit that she continues to entertain. The story keeps you guessing and the big reveal at the end was a surprise. When I can read a mystery and not have everything figured out halfway through, I am happy. So, in my opinion, Ms. Thompson delivers.
My only complaint? The fact that some of the characters, knowing full well that there is an unidentified killer on the loose, continually go out alone in the dark or leave themseleves obviously vulnerable to the unknown killer in some other fashion. But maybe this is just standard character behavior for this type of genre.
All in all, a good read!

First time reading a novel by this author. I give it a solid 5 stars because the captivating book had me wondering "who done it" till the reveal! The way the end unravels is shocking! The author goes back and forth in time telling the history and connection of the characters normally I would have to go back and reread. However, in this book I never lost track of the relationships. I enjoyed this book and will search for more by the author Carlene Thompson.

4 because it kept me entertained throughout. Great suspense and I really liked both Lottie and Ellen. Minus 1 star for adding a weird unwarranted twist of Rachel being the sheriffs daughter. Totally unnecessary and honestly didn’t make a lot of sense for why it would be included. I thought Phillip only loving Julianna would have been enough of a motivation for a mentally ill woman.

The best part about it isn't who was the killer but a piece of their history.
Ps. It's a slow burn

È una lettura che mi ha tenuto incollata. Avevo le mie ipotesi su chi fosse l'assassino, completamente sbagliate e stravolte. Alla fine sembra più una puntata di Beautiful ma comunque mi è piaciuto

A fair romantic suspense novel.

A close friend has asked artist Adrienne Reynolds to paint a picture of a Grand Hotel that has been in her family for years. The hotel is set to be demolished at the end of the week because it has been the scene of many tragedies. While Adrienne and her daughter, Skye, are at the hotel, they discover the body of her best friend, Julianna Brent. The police believe Julianna was killed her meeting her lover. While Adrienne tries to make sense of the murder, strange things begin to happen to her. She is mugged one rainy night...a note is left warning her to leave town...and there are other mysterious deaths no one can explain.

This book has a large cast of characters and every one of them has a secret. I was a little bored with this book. It seemed to drag in places. Usually books by this author are more interesting and keeps me glued to the pages. This one didn't. My rating: 2 Stars.

I enjoy Carlene Thompson's books even she usually takes a bit setting up the story and characters at the beginning. They are usually suspenseful with a surprise or two. This one had quite a few twists and turns. The murderer did surprise me on this one. Whenever I thought I had it figured out, I was lead down another path with new clues. I connected with Adrienne and wanted her out of harms way. Ms. Thompson kept me guessing until the final, climatic revelation. Lovers of intelligent murder mysteries will want to pick up Share No Secrets.

I purchased this book while in WV, having never read anything by the author before. I found it quite good. This is a murder mystery that takes place in a small town in WV, centered mainly around an old abandoned hotel. There were so many characters that I did get a bit confused at times, but the excitement never let up. There are multiple murders that occur one after the other, along with some suspicious accidents. In the end? You will never guess who did it!

A mystery novel about a small town in West Virginia. A single mother finds her best friend from childhood dead in a hotel room. She tries to figure out who is responsible, as the murders pile up,without becoming a victim herself. A fast paced story, trying to guess who is guilty, and next thing you know that person is a victim also. Well worth your time in reading. I recommend this book.

Mystery with a sympathetic mother as main character. The author kept me guessing until the end … though there was a very over-the-top moment at the end with a jarring surprise twist.

I'm enjoying the story but the chronic lack of punctuation and typos are killing me. Good grief.

I guessed everyone but the actual culprit...lol. The grammar didn't get better but the plot was good.

This was a dark horse. I did not expect the murderer to be who it was till the very end. Then the subtle clues throughout made me kick myself for missing them. Thoroughly recommend this.
