Ziva Diaz stepped in front of the camera and onto the set of a murder. Her national television debut is a complete disaster, and when the host at fault is murdered, the detective sets her eyes on Ziva. As Ziva races to clear her name, the case lands on the front page of the tabloids. But there’s more to this investigation than a dead starlet and a jealous ex-husband.
When another body washes up, Ziva realizes the stakes are even higher. Can she clear her name and solve the case before the killer strikes again?
P.S. If you've been waiting for more of Finn & Ziva, this is *the* book. Get ready!
Beauty Secrets Series Order Book One: Makeup & Murder Book Two: Kiss & Makeup Book Three: Eyeliner & Alibis Book Four: Pedicures & Prejudice Book Five: Beauty & Bloodshed Short Story: A Ring to Die For
Each book is a stand alone (No Cliffhangers!!!), but the relationships among the characters grow throughout the series. I recommend reading them in order, but that's just me!
Note: rated PG-13 for mild language and hey, there's dead bodies. No graphic sex or gore.
If you like a good story and an even better mystery, try the Beauty Secrets Series today!
I'm a mystery author with a soft spot for romance and humor, too. I love all things girlie with a dollop of danger, have a strong affinity for the color pink (especially in diamonds and champagne), and, not to brag, but chocolate and I are in a pretty serious relationship.
My books are fun and flirty, and feature smart and sassy sleuths. If you love books with a dash of spice and twist of whodunit, you're going to love my work!
I'm still loving this series. I love Ziva she is a wonderful character. Even though she always seems to find a dead body. I really hated that cop. I hope we don't deal with that one again. She and Finn had a silly fight in this one. Thankfully it was all taken care of and they shared a wonderful moment at the end. Which I hope will happen by the end. They both deserve it.
Another winner in the Beauty Secrets series! Ziva, our sassy and relatable MC, is moving on up in the world. Her beauty line is being featured on a TV shopping network and Ziva will be live on the air to help sell it. A few murders later, a serious argument with her boyfriend Fin (will they or won't they stay together?), and Ziva helps to solve the case and recover from the tabloid headlines. Fast-paced, funny, and a cast of well-rounded characters I'd like to have lunch with.
I was provided a copy of this book and the opinions are my own. This is the first book in the series that I have read. It is a standalone story and can be enjoyed as that. I liked the book. There was a good plot, lots of twists and turns and a surprising ending. I thought I knew who did it but the author seems to eliminate the suspect before the reveal. Since I can be a cynic, I had totally eliminated the suspect. Ziva Diaz is an entrepreneur in the makeup industry. She is invited on a QVC type show and is skewered by the host. After the show appears to have not gone well, she finds the said host dead back stage while trying to retrieve her phone later that evening. The detective does not seem too keen to find the real killer. Her love life blows up in her face for a good portion of the book. This story shows us how everyone can be a little or a lot insecure in themselves, love, etc and at times we all need to grow up and put it in perspective. So join, Ziva, her boyfriend Finn and her bestie resolve the death (s) in this story. In fact, I’m looking forward to reading the first two in the series before book 4 comes out.
I'm still along for the ride with Ziva. I missed the setting as Tampa doesn't have the same charm as Savannah or South Carolina low country. I do realize the author is trying to avoid a 'Cabot Cove' where murder is responsible for most deaths. I say embrace the hometown, don't worry about it and stick to the winning formula! I'm hoping for home, Mrs. J, Marion and yes...Justine in the next book.
Poorly edited and written. Major gaps, main character is without her wallet/money but then calls an Uber, takes it to airport and rents a car, drives hundreds of miles. Just one of several I caught. Character went from one name to a nickname in one sentence. Portions totally unrealistic.
Ziva stumbles over another dead body then a second the Tampa police think she’s guilty. Every time Ziva thinks she has figured out who the murderer is the clues change. An enjoyable book, with good characters
Emotional tension was alive in Stephanie Damore’s third installment in the life of Ms. Ziva Diaz. No longer just a Beauty Secrets consultant to the rich in South Carolina. She has opened a shop in Port Haven, her hometown with her skin care line, Sugar and Sass. As busy as she is juggling the two careers and Finn her new beau, somehow Ziva still manages to stumble upon dead bodies, scandals, and a grumpy detective out for blood. It all starts after a disastrous on air interview with Marissa the shopping networks’ up and coming star anchor. The chain of events increases as does the tension between Ziva and Finn. Dead bodies seem to be drawn to Ziva as does the scandals, lies and betrayals. Mix in a jewelry thief to make matters worse and increase Ziva’s stress level. Chocolate wrappers in her rental car. Trips back and forth from Tampa to Port Haven. Psychotic phone calls to her uncertain Beau, an invitation to her frenemies wedding to Ziva’s ex Todd. Why wouldn’t she be drawn to chocolate, sweets, and martinis? If I hate the way she did, I would not even be able to roll out of bed. Eyeliner and Alibis like Ms. Damore’s earlier works are filled with love, romance, mystery, intrigue, suspense, and humor. As in the stories about Ziva and her Beauty Secret and mystery solving life, I found myself watching this young woman grow and learn more about herself. I also found even more within the pages of this current read that I could relate to. A couple of examples: “I’ve been told that I’m prone to overreacting. I thought my theory through. Facebook and Instagram were old-school, but Snapchat wasn’t.” (Damore 2017) I noted these in my eBook version of this story. My now husband and I have discussed my lovely characteristic of overreacting. Insert hilarious laugh. Those days are long gone, but I do remember the crazy phone calls, storming off, etc. again, insert hilarious laugh and blame it on my Scottish and Irish temper. Regarding Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, well, I do not have Snapchat so maybe I am not a part of the cool kids but I choose to have to worry about another password to remember and lock away. Choose not to have to worry about keeping up with another social media account and drive myself to “overreacting”. Lol. I chuckle when I think that the above social media networks are not old school when I think about the social medias of my time were writing on a piece of paper and calling people on a phone are. Ms. Damore has yet again done a fantastic job and I am looking forward to reading Ziva’s next adventure Pedicures & Prejudice.
This is my first book by Stephanie Damore. I can't wait to go back and read the first two! It was especially fun because it could be read as a standalone. I admit, I have purchased makeup from QVC and HSN after watching the live demonstrations. I think that is why the opening pages when Ziva was on a TV shopping channel selling her makeup intrigued me so much. Besides that, Ziva is an engaging character! The mystery surrounding the deaths of the TV hosts drew me in. I loved the humor, the romance and Ziva's ambition to solve the murders. The book held my attention from beginning to end. Just when I thought I had figured it out, another twist or turn was presented. This is a well written mystery with fun characters. I highly recommend it! I received an ARC of this book. The choice to read and review it was all mine.
This is a great cozy mystery with interesting characters, an intriguing cozy mystery (no violence or graphic details), and romance. Ziva owns her own beauty/cosmetics company. She does an interview on TV about her products except the hostess of the show is unprofessional and it is a disaster. Then the hostess ends up dead. Who did it and why? Ziva has quite a few possible suspects. I like how Ziva investigates and doesn't just walk up and question people. It makes it more interesting and believable. This book has some romance drama unlike the other books which caused me some eye-rolls. Parts were just not believable to me. Luckily it was a short part of the book, and the story moved along. This was an enjoyable cozy mystery!
This is a very entertaining cozy series. The books are well written with fast moving, twisty story lines, a bit of humor, and wonderful characters. In a bit of a departure from the standard cozy formula, heroine Ziva Diaz is completely uninvolved with any of the culinary arts and her fiance Finn is in no way connected to law enforcement. Rather, Ziva has developed her own skin care line and is in Tampa to showcase her products on the Daily Shopping Channel. Trouble follows Ziva again when not one, but two Shopping Channel stars are murdered.
I really enjoy this series. Try it. I think you will too.
With Eyeliner & Alibis, Stephanie Damore gets her third 5 stars review from me! This is such a fun cozy mystery series. In this installment, Ziva Diaz goes to Tampa to appear on the Daily Shopping Channel. Her interview is not what she hoped thanks to the host, Marissa. Shortly afterwards, she finds Marissa is dead! Later, she finds Marissa's coworker, Sterling's dead body in the surf! If only things were going right with Finn! Unfortunately, Ziva and Finn are having some communication problems that need to be resolved. Once again, there are surprises, updates on the characters lives', and Ziva's guardian angel helping her out! I'm ready for book 4!
This is the first book of Stephanie Damore's that I have read, and although it is book 3, it works well enough as a standalone. I did enjoy the book, the characters were fun and well written and the plot was good. There were enough red herrings and twists and turns and the ending, surprising but not totally "huh?" The reasoning behind the killings were good and although I did not guess who, it was a logical conclusion, which I liked. I received this ARC and am giving an honest review. Recommended!
Highly Entertaining Mystery I so enjoyed this book. While it is the third in the series, it is a stand-alone novel. I can say this because I have not yet read the first two books. This author does a fine job of entertaining the reader. There is humor and romance wrapped all through this intriguing mystery. The characters are well fleshed out and very believable. The plot had some nice twists and a few dead ends to keep things interesting. I will be reading more of this author’s work, especially the first two books of this series.
This is a different gene of book for me to read, along with the author and i really enjoyed it. I look forward to read more from her.
Well written story that kept me guessing until the end, i was sure it was one person then changed my mind to another. It kept me hooked.
Ziva's skincare line Sugar $ Sass get's shown on a t.v. shopping channel. It doesn't go well. Ziva stumbles upon a murder, the police think she has something to do with it. So she sets out to solve the crime herself and help keep her mind of her problem's with boyfriend Finn.
Cover/Title: I love the fun cover and title! These kind of titles tend to draw me in to buy.
Characters: Ziva is an interesting person. I love how she uses her business skills to help solve the case.
Plot: Ziva is invited to do a tv spot about her business. It doesn't go well and ends up with bodies and a killer on the loose. To prove her innocence, Ziva is determined to find the killer.
Overall: This is a sweet little mystery with lots of suspects and criminal mischief happening. I loved how the killer was not obvious but little things led to the conclusion.
Stepanie Damore is a new author to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I like the character of Ziva and thought that the plot was clever and well developed. There were lots of red herrings to mislead the reader, but when the culprit was revealed it was actually quite logical. I am looking forward to reading more by this author. I did receive a complimentary copy of the book, but the review is my honest opinion, voluntarily given.
Eyeliner and Alibis, book 3 and Ziva is involved in another murder. Two... Her tv debut goes horribly wrong. How will it effect her new business?!? It is worth finding out with this great read. Put your feet up and enjoy this fun and entertaining time. Stephanie Damore writing turns a girlie girl into a smart business minded woman. Who enjoys her girlie 'ness'. I received this book as an ARC. I am voluntarily posting this review. I am a Huge Fan of both this author and series!!!
This is a suspenseful but light and at times funny murder mystery. Ziva juggles an up and coming skin care line, a boyfriend, finding dead bodies, and being suspected of being the killer by the police. Yet she feels that she needs to find out who the real murderer is before the police lock her up. All of this happens in the glamorous world of TV.
This is one mystery series I will be watching out for.
So I love Ziva and her the way she stumbles upon dead bodies all of the time. Her mind goes a mile a minute and never lets up, something I can relate to. This time she had a snafu in her personal relationship and while it all works out, I didn’t care for Finn’s decision making without consulting Ziva, it’s rude, inconsiderate and disrespectful. So that rubbed me wrong but other than that, I enjoyed the book.
This is the third book in this series that I have read. As the characters progress in each book, they become more familiar and their quirks become more obvious. Enjoyed this book and looking forward to more from this author.
So glad I found Stephanie Damores books if you're like me and love a cozy with characters you love and stories you can't stop reading till the end than these books are for you I can't wait till the next one
Wow! From the crazy TV interview to the twist of meeting with the killer at the end, this story is one curve after the other. It is funny, sad, and exciting, keeping the reader off balance 'til the last.
Another great story about Ziva and Finn. These characters are so real I just know we would be friends! Ziva is up to her eyebrows in murder after a disastrous first TV appearance. The plot has several twists. I could not put this down. Go Ziva!
