She’s frolicking in the woods somewhere and will return for tacos eventually.
Raquel is one tough chick whether she believes it or not. These books will suck you in. You will feel all the emotions in these books. The story is truly wonderful and powerful
I'm reviewing as host for Silver Dagger Book Tour.
Raquel is a unique paranormal genetic lottery winner - a mix of all four Shadow races, and as such mistrusted by all. Having lived her entire life as an outcast, the only one she cares about is her sister Addie. So when Addie goes missing--along with members of all the other races--Raquel is approached by the witches and asked for help, she finds herslef reluctantly working with the enemy. Or who/what she always considered her enemies. But now they all have something in common, and old hatred have to be put aside for them to succeed--and even survive. Because the enemy is closer than she thinks, and there's more to her destiny than she ever imagined.
I was initially confused at the beginning, because the story jumped around in time and place, but once I got my footing and the story took off I was hooked. I loved the diverse cast of characters and the authors unique take on each race and species. The world-building was stellar and solid. Great descriptions, and dialogue reflected the personality and viewpoint of each character.
The only detractions were Raquel is the snarky paranormal heroine I've seen a hundred times. There were a surprising number of typos considering this WASN'T an ARC. And the books were formatted with a weird font that made my eyes want to unfocus--it was a bit hard to read, physically. The letters tended to blur together, Never had that happen before.
But it was an entertaining, action-packed read with a satisfactory ending.
This is a great series for those who love the superman like vampires, witches, lycans, fae, leprecauns, and more. This is an in-depth world of mystery and love. If you look at it closely it is written in a Gene Roddenberry style, in the sense that the story is filled issues we face today
A must read if you love paranormal. Rahel is a blend of several Shadow World races, but doezn't belong to any of them. Follow her as she learns more about herself and fights to save the people who have made her life so far miserable
