Azalea Ellis loves to bend the world to her will. Maybe that's why she likes writing books. Creating worlds and people and then sending them through every ordeal imaginable might even give her some kind of sick thrill. Who knows? Azalea is also an artist, so perhaps she just likes taking things from her head and bringing them to life. Because of her artistic background, she's lucky enough to also be able to do all of her own book covers, and does freelance illustration when she feels like it. She's fascinated by almost everything, and wishes she could live to be a thousand, so she would have time to learn and do everything she wants.
The author is not done throwing is into rapids of betrayal, fights, and events pushed by ancient prophecies! The second book is even better than the first. Worth the read.
Welcome to the second volume of “Seeds of Chaos”. I knew there was something different or special about Eve; more so than an extra finger, although that was a huge clue. More of Eve’s real purpose is revealed along with the existence of an ancient prophecy. As in the first volume, the trials Eve and her squad were forced into became harder and more dangerous. The alien who was captured by Nix comes into play in this volume in a big way as he joins Eve’s squad. The last trial of the volume is a seemingly impossible task that Eve must accomplish or die. The tension is high, and the pressure is on as Eve and her squad fight for their very lives. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
If you want a description of the story see below. I like Azalea writing style she keeps things moving at a fast enough past to keep you engaged but slow enough where you can process implications as you go. Her character building worked well in the first book but in this book it starts to fall apart. The story in this book starts to feel forced as if there was a mold Azalea need to fit and she just kept shoving until the story fit in that mold. It was not bad but it was nowhere as good as the first book. Overall I will probably not continue the series after this book.
**SPOILERS** After joining up with NIX Eve is still in charge of her crew. While she may appear to be cooperating her main objective has stayed the same to make herself and her team stronger. Eve and her team now with Zed plan on freeing the trapped alien and escaping the clutches of NIX. Afterwards they end up on an alien world, where Eve finds herself battling gods and in the middle of some ancient prophecy. **SPOILERS** This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Azalea Ellis is a writers writer. Book 2 in the ‘Seeds of Chaos’ series deals dose not disappoint as the story continues to delve into the dark fantasy with RPG elements. Again it’s not heavy on RPG game mechanics, which may be a sore spot for some fans, but I personally found it refreshing. As really do love the quotes before each chapter. Love coming up with the answers to the ones I know, but I equally enjoy looking up the ones I don’t know. This book is well written, story flows well, and every so often you can telegraph how things might shake out for the MC Eve Redding of the Line of Matrix.
I feel like this book went in circles without accomplishing anything, I mean the main character did accomplish a lot but I was waiting for “something more” the whole book and nothing ever really happened. I enjoyed the plot and characters and the book itself but after the last page was kind of excited that it is over so that I can start a new series which is why it got three stars. I kinda want to know what happens next but not enough to actually read the rest of the books so I probably will not finish reading the rest of the books.
Enjoyed the first book but this one was a struggle
I Enjoyed the first book, and devoured it quickly. It sucked you in, played with your emotions and left you wanting more. But this second book was a struggle to finish.--almost like a whole other genre. Still lots of action but less compelling. Very little character development on the main characters from book 1. The "stats" which gave a lit rpg feel to book 1 nearly disappeared.
While I enjoyed this book It wasn't quite as good as the first one. The "major threat" in this book isn't as large as in the first book and doesn't feel as insurmountable. There isn't nearly as much conflict or fighting, and while there are occasional mentions of attribute ups and a few stat sheet checks it didn't feel as much like a litRPG as the first one. Honestly this book felt like a set up episode just like TV shows do and ended like one too. Luckily the next book appears to be much longer and after the buildup in this book I am excited for it.
Working with NIX is not working out as well as Eve hoped. Especially since NIX management definitely doesn't like her. Having a seed of chaos inside really isn't helping. The consequences of her actions are really starting to pile up on her shoulders. Originally, she put the team together to try to keep herself safe, now she is working hard to keep all of them safe and it is wearing on her The story becomes more complex and interesting as we move along. On to book 3.
This story about a girl just trying to survive being a Player who go through trails test to Skills and godlike powers is unique but very familiar. The earth's military force recruit anyone who has some alien bloodlines, while the ancient aliens are looking for their savior.
Your writing is top notch, the development of the characters is really outstanding. Overall I was totally hooked and i finished reading the second one at about 630 am from the previous night. I am hooked! I will be purchasing all of your books from now on.
Very good story. Pretty much a continuation of the previous book, and done quite well. Doesn't really answer many questions raised in the first book, but it does nicely tie together a lot of the threads that were raised in the first one, and is certainly working towards solutions. I liked it, and fully intend to read more.
Almost as good as the first book in the series, but it felt a bit predictable when Eve always goes her own way and it always turns out to be the better choice. The science stuff is a bit questionable here and there, but that's something the reader just has to accept. The book is fast-paced, quite unique in story/style and is well written.
After the last books ending I feared it would just continue with the games/trails with something bigger happening at the ending of this book but this book features some creative surprises and veers off into directions I did not expect.
I especially like that the main character is ruthless (at least compared to other YA heroines), uses her head and makes rational decisions based on her priorities but still comes off as a real person.
I'll definitely read the next one as soon as it comes out!
I have to admit that I am slightly disappointed with this book. I was wishing for a worthy follow up to the first book but that was not what I got. The story left me feeling empty and really wishing for something better.
This has got to be up there with the hunger games of the LitRPG world. I have always given this genre a miss after picking up several that did not light my fuse. But this one drew me in and I love it. On to the next one
I definitely wasn't sure what was going to happen next but this was a very enjoyable sequel just the same. Constantly action packed much like the first one but even more so.
Oh dear. Earth is to razed to the ground due to our own hubris. No surprise there. Should anything even remotely similar happen in the future I imagine it would be for exactly the same reason.
Violent and exciting all the way through. Azalea Ellis doesn‘t bother with boring chapters and keeps the tension at a comfortable high all throughout the book. It gets descriptive at times with scenes you wouldn‘t read in any normal science-fantasy litrpg books
I have to say, this one is better than the first. It gets pretty wild as she leans into the sci-fi quite a bit more in this. I really find it interesting how she makes the main character of the story very aware of her selfish desire for self-preservation and as much as this character is seen as a hero throughout the book, the behind-the-scenes makes it very obvious that she really isn't. This had a pretty crazy ending and there are two more books in this series and I can honestly say, I'm not sure I know where the story is going. Which I think is a good thing. I'm going to boost this series up to 8/10. No romance, which is a bummer, but it's got a lot of violence and alien body enhancements so I'm not mad.
