Nobody likes sexy men, sassy heroines, and emotionally charged books, right? WRONG! We all want to feel extraordinary when we read, and that's exactly what you'll get when you pick up a Melody Anne book. She has the feel-good stories of a damsel in distress with prince charming riding in to save the day . . . and she also has emotionally charged books that take you through a journey of emotion as you try to figure out if you love or hate the characters as they find themselves. What you get at the end of every Melody Anne book is a resolution that has you begging for more.

First of all, this story requires some serious editing. If it were a few words here and there, I wouldn't care, but when the heroine's name is wrong, I think someone should have caught it (an early conversation between the hero and heroine has him inexplicably calling her Nicole instead of Jennifer. Did someone mess up using the "Search-Replace" function on this manuscript?)The editor would also not go amiss learning the different forms of the word to and when to use them (to, too, two). The number of run on sentences is mind boggling. There are so many grammatical errors in this work, I would believe it if someone told me they had accidentally sent me the rough outline instead the final draft.
I don't wish to incur the wrath of those who have enjoyed this title, but the writing of this story is very childish. The dialogue is unnatural and downright cheesy. It truly sounds as though a twelve year old wrote it. I can almost picture a list of tag lines the author was checking off as she used them. Characters go from "he said, she said" to "he yelled, she yelled" in the space of a line, without there being any appropriate building of tension in the story. Unless the characters are all bi-polar, there are some whip-lash inducing moments to be read.
I understand this is a romance novel, but there should be some semblance of reality to it. The characters work in a corporate environment, but judging by the writing, I would have to say the author has no idea what that entails. There are a lot of ominous references to "the corporation" that end up sounding silly - kind of like soap opera dialogue filler, when you believe the writers are trying to sound like they know what they're talking about, but obviously have no clue so the result is laughably bad. The story meanders as though there wasn't a clear discernible plot in place, and the author was winging it until she felt she had taken up enough space for this to be book length.
The heroine is a half wit. I think the reader is supposed to find her almost child like joy of life endearing, but instead, she just doesn't seem very bright. I think the hero is supposed to be an Alpha Male, but comes across as a spoiled child throwing tantrums when he does not get his own way (he is in serious need of a Time Out at a few points of the story).
Then there's the heroine's four year old niece who speaks like she's twice that age. I'm always kind of amused at how children are written into these stories, and how poorly they are portrayed. They're either too infantile or they have the wisdom of the world even though they're still in Pull Ups. In this story, I thought Little Molly was going to start discussing stock options with her aunt there for a minute. The niece was obviously being used as a device to further the story, but all it suceeded in doing was showing that neither the author nor the editor had a realistic view of children.
And then there's the patriarch of the family who is fretting about his children's unmarried status? I think I read a Nora Roberts omnibus with this same premise when I was trapped on a long flight once and I didn't buy it then either. Former CEO now turned Yenta? Um...no.
And finally, this story has an awful lot of telling rather than showing. The reader is bombarded constantly with the hero or heroine thinking, "I am SO attracted to this person." Neither of them seem like real people, so it's just a lot of empty words on a page. As a reader, I don't want to read pages and pages of what the character is thinking, I want them to DO stuff. If the hero is supposed to be charming, then have him do something charming rather than hearing about how the ladies always flock to him.
I got this book for free, so I really shouldn't complain, but it does not compel me to seek out more work by this author.
Now that Joseph Anderson has finished match making his own sons. He joins leagues with his twin brother George to match make his oldest son Trenton.
The two conniving brother has found the perfect fit for Trenton. Jennifer has lost her sister and her brother in law in a accident. She now has temporary custody of her 4 year old niece Molly. When offered a promotion as the Exec. Asst. to Trenton, she gladly accepts. Not knowing she was being set up.
I thought Jennifer acted childish and immature at time. There just was way to much angst in the story. It took to long for her to realize she was in love with Trenton. I liked Trenton but his arrogance at times was a bit much.
Jennifer has a lot going on in her life. First, her sister and brother-in-law were killed in a car accident, leaving her to care for her niece Molly. Then, she starts a new job as assistant to the president of Anderson United Corporation. Trenton is determined to seduce his new assistant then move on.
OK. What is it with the men?! They intend to seduce then move on?! No care for how the women feel, especially those that work for them?! Uggh!
I was expecting that this book would be different from the last 3 novels but there seem to be a pattern and there's too much similarities on the flow of the story.
I kind of skipped here and there. I think the series should be titled as 'Fast Wedding', not that I'm against it but it's too redundant.
I just hope that the next 4 books would have a different story flow.
I'm giving it 2 stars coz I'm totally sick of the plot.. it's getting kind of redundant, and also, the characters, they kind of deal with anything the same as the other characters.
I was enjoying this series, it was predictable with surprise babies, virgins in their 3o's, and oops.. you're a virgin sex, the cute dad matchmaker. but seriously!!!
Best Romance book I have read so far this year. This book started out with the father of a son who is distant and he wants him home and happy...one way to make that happen, move the company he owns, set up a hot assistance who he thinks will be great for his son and tell his son if he doesn't move to the new office he can find a new job. Son moves meets a beautiful girl, finds out she is his assistant days later and in the following weeks can't get her out of his mind. A job well done for the father!
I don't really like Trenton, i mean he's a good guy and all, most of the andersons are too but he's just a littleq to domeneering, guess it comes with being the oldest ;)
I can’t get enough of the Anderson family. This installment was so awesome! The writing and pace made this an outstanding read! Although a standalone, these books are so much fun to read in order! Thank heaven they’re all available to enjoy!
3.5 Stars! The fourth book detailing another of our billionaire Andersons focuses us on Joseph's twin brother, George Anderson and his four children. I enjoyed the story and the chance to see more of Joseph, and only had a few criticisms. Lol.
Summary: After receiving a distressed call from his twin, Joseph Anderson is more than eager to do whatever it take in order to bring his brother and his children back into the family fold after losing his wife five years previously. George Anderson has finally returned home after grieving for his lost love for five years. It's still difficult living life without his beloved, but he realizes he never should have withdrawn from his family, especially his children. Seeing his kids are withdrawn from each other and in now way gearing up to settle down, he enlists the help of Joseph, who has been wildly successful in matching his own children and filling his home with grand kids. First up is his oldest son, Trenton, who took over running the company when George abruptly retired following his wife's death. Trenton Anderson is a fair employer, but has high expectations for his employees. He's also stunned when his father relocates the head office from Chicago to Seattle. Giving in only because he can't fight it and he loves the company, Trenton moves closer to his family, having no clue that even with his anger he's falling right into his father's plans. Trenton, like Lucas, Alex, and Mark used to be, is a confirmed bachelor. He runs a billion dollar company and has no time for marriage or love, and doesn't plan on succumbing anytime soon. That is, until he meets Jennifer Stellar. Jennifer is a temp for Joseph's company when she is offered the job to be executive assistant for Trenton. Jennifer recently suffered a loss in her family and is now responsible for her four year old niece, Molly. Thinking of the increased pay and amazing benefits encourages her to accept the job despite her surprise at the offer. Nothing but excitement and a feeling that everything is finally falling into place follows Jennifer as she prepares to start her first day, but her emotions and hormones are very quickly turned upside down after coming face to face with the most gorgeous male she's ever seen. Trenton is immediately drawn to Jennifer upon meeting her, but she is his employee and he vows to retain his control. Jennifer can't afford to lose the cushy job she's been fortunate enough to land. Still recovering from their grief, she needs to give Molly as stable an environment as she can, and this job is the ticket. As it goes with best laid plans, sexual tension, yearning, and temptation become too much to ignore, and Trenton and Jennifer fall into an intimacy they never knew existed. Still, they both try to insert as much distance into whatever's between them as possible. When Jennifer's adoption of Molly comes into question, Trenton makes the decision to provide the stable marriage and home she needs to secure the legal aspects, as he knows he can't get enough and won't ever be able to let her go. Jennifer would have loved to marry Trenton for love, and she does, but she knows he's just being a good man and fully anticipates him leaving her in future. These thoughts only come more pronounced when he keeps holding back from her. It will take a terrifying and tragic event to shake Trenton up enough for him to see what he's been denying for so long. He just hopes it's not too late to make things right and grow the family he never knew he needed.
Jennifer was a spitfire. I loved her spunk and the fact that she didn't immediately cower to anyone's unreasonable demands. She was loyal, loving, and extremely generous with a bright personality. I'm sad we didn't get a little more about her history, but happy for the extensive look into the type of person she has become despite her tragedy. Trenton was a bit edgier than his cousins we read about previously. More intense, maybe. I loved his possessiveness, which was more pronounced in this book than previous books. I was happy to see that we weren't given another story of denying love and grasping any hold of bachelorhood the man can. The story was focused more on the aspects happening in their lives and with Molly. I did feel Molly should have had a bigger role. At the end, she did, but it seemed that until then she was only mentioned in passing when it turned out she was a very important piece of the puzzle, as any child would be. I also felt that we didn't see any interaction between Trenton and Molly. I did not like this because it is very important for a child to trust and care for their guardian, and he became apart of her family without us seeing any meaningful moments until practically the last page. To me, this book also felt a lot shorter. I did mention I thought there was too much superficial dialogue in book one, but books two and three seemed spot on, and now with book four, I felt is was lacking in a bit of depth. I still really enjoyed the overall story and adore the Anderson clan. I look forward to reading more about them, and hope we get a bit more history with our future characters. <3
I really enjoyed the first three books in the series and was excited to read another. Joseph Anderson did such a great job getting his three sons settled in to marriage and getting himself grandchildren that his brother George has asked for his help. George's wife died five years earlier and ever since, his relationship with his 4 children has been distant. He wants to reconnect with his children and get some grandchildren to love.
My only frustration with this story was that it was too similiar to Lucas & Amy's story in book 1. I can kind of see why the writer did this since from Joseph's perspective, hiring Amy as Lucas's assistant worked so brilliantly that hiring Jennifer as Trenton's assistant was just simply a great idea. However, from the reader's perspective, it was too similar. They work together, he wants him but fights the attraction because he's the boss. He wants her and decides to have her just for a short time to "get her out of his system" but in doing so realizes there is more to their relationship. Shock, shock. Just as Amy did, Jennifer ends up pregnant and just like Lucas, Trenton was overjoyed and they immediately got married.
The only real difference was the addition to Jennifer's neice Molly who she has custody of after Molly's parents died. Even this part of the story was a little familiar as Mark & Emily dealt with a lot of the same things in their story (book 3). So, while I enjoyed the story, it was nothing new.
One HUGE pet peeve that this book had was bad editing/proofreading. I have the Kindle edition so dont' know if this was true for all editions, but several misspelled words (too versus to, etc) and even one time where Trenton's name is listed as Trevor. This is even more confusing for readers of the series because Trevor is Emily's son (book 3). I don't hold this against the writer, but the editors. Several times I wished I had a paper copy so I could mark all the errors and send it back to the publisher.
I've re-read and amended my rating: If you're looking for complex plot and a challenging read, this is not for you. It's tricky to review a book like this as it's a simple feel good love story. I can't compare it to other books I read where there's detailed plot and character development as I read those books expecting different things. When I started reading this book, and others by this author, I was expecting a bit of heartache, characters refusing to admit they're in love, other people causing problems and misunderstandings, and eventually, a happy ending. All these elements are in this book and provided a pleasant few hours reading leaving me smiling at the end. This basic formula means that the structure is widely the same in the whole series but as I was expecting this and wanting a light read, I didn't mind. Perfect for the mood I was in when reading.
Original review: It's a fun idea where the father is desperate to have a big happy family and to see his sons settle down so he goes about matchmaking behind his sons' backs. He brings women he chooses into situations where his sons will meet them. We're back to the plot of the first couple of books, bachelor playboy angry at father, woman forced in his life in the workplace, can't keep their hands off each other, no one willing to admit love etc I find the writing a bit corny at times and found myself cringing, and use of words such as womanhood and heat had me groaning but not for desired reasons. Really? womanhood?
I’ve really enjoyed this series of books. George, and Joseph are twin brothers. They want grand kids, so they put together plans for their grown sons to meet their future wife. So far in this series their plans has worked. I think this was by far the best out of this series.
George moved the company’s home office to Seattle, and hired Jennifer to be the assistant to his son Trenton. There was instant chemistry between the two. Jennifer tried to fight the attraction the longest, but finally gave in to the passion between her, and her boss. I love the passion, and chemistry Trenton, and Jennifer. The couple really made me laugh from time to time. Jennifer is so stubborn, and is determined to take care of herself. When she finds herself in certain situations, and Trenton is there to help her, she actually fights with him, and tells him she doesn’t need his help. Jennifer is the most frustrating woman Trenton has ever met. In this story Jennifer had lost her sister to a car wreck, and was raising her niece Molly. Molly and Jennifer didn’t have any other family. The Anderson family welcomed them both with open arms and made them feel loved. The Anderson family really draws me into this series. They are a big family, always there to love, and support one another. When a family member needs help, they all gather.
I just love this series of books. This was the 1st book, for George Anderson and his children. Well written awesome storyline and even netter characters. Just when I think Melody can't possibly get another storyline she does and doesn't did as disapoint in this one either. When Trenton Anderson is told by his father that he will be moving his corporate offices to Seattle to be closer to his brother and nephews he is not happy but knowing full well he will move wherever his father says Trenton picks up moves to Seattle where he is set up by his father and uncle to find a woman.... Jennifer works for Anderson Corporation and is packing it when she called to the executive suite for a meeting. thinking the worst Jennifer prepares to lose her job... she never imagined getting a promotion to executive assistant to none other then Trenton Anderson. After a small run in at the park with a mystery man and a frisby while out with her niece she arrives yo start her new job and discovers it is Trenton she is assistant to. She is instantly attracted to Trenton but decides that her job is more important than pursuing him after she had been given custody for her niece after her parents are killed in a car accident. Trenton has other ideas and uses everything he has to break this woman who keeps telling him no. Bring on the fun with the rest of this story, fantastic yet again.
The stories of the Anderson family continue with Joseph's twin brother George. He lost his wife many years ago and the grief ate at him so much that it distanced him from his brother as well as his two sons and daughter. That grief even affected his children so that they weren't speaking to one another.
After reconciling with Joseph, George wants to bring the family back together again. The best way to do that is to relocate the company from Chicago to Seattle. In the process he's convinced by his loving brother that maybe his children need to start settling down and providing him with grandchildren.
And so we're off again on another matchmaking adventure this time starring George Anderson's children. First up is his eldest Trenton. Trenton runs the company and isn't please that his father has decided to relocate the corporation to the west coast. Of course he's going to need an assistant. George interviews and hires Jennifer Stellar. Her story is a sad one with her sister & brother-in-law being lost in a crash and she is now raising her niece.
Sparks fly between these two and it's only a matter of time before something happens that throws them together. This story will tear at your heart strings at one point when an issue comes up concerning Jennifer's niece.
This book disappointed me in so many ways......I don't think I could read another one.....I was hoping for something different especially after seeing such positive reviews...alas it is just like the last three books....rich guy who swears off marriage....girl with baggage whom is then easily seduced, and a affair ensues.... It's the same thing over and over...chapter 1 they meet, chapters 2-5 affair begins and they avoid each other yet can't get enough of each other chapter 6 problem arises (unwanted pregnancy, adoption crisis, custody crisis) chapter 7 the speed wedding arranged within a week. Chapter 8- the honeymoon, chapter 9 a serious problem arises, (car accident, creepy stalker, kidnapped child) and finally chapter 10 where it's resolved everyone admits their love for each other and epilogue where parent discusses which child is next ( oh and another grandchild is produced!) I enjoyed the first book so much I was looking forward to reading about the rest of the family but honestly with each book it's more boring...so done with the series.....
I love this series. I was a little disappointed that the first of the cousin's books, fell under the same premise of book one, but tuere were enough differences to make it its own. After losing his wife, and then himself, George Anderson decides its time to get his family back together. He goes to his twin brother , Joseph, ajd together they hatch a plan to not only pull his family back together but to expand it by getting his 4 children married so he can have some grand babies. Joseph was quite successful match making for his own turee boys, so he's practically an expert. After moving the cooperate offices to zdeattle and forcing his children to relocate their as well, George and Joseph hire Jennifer as Trenton's executive assistant. Something about her gets under Trenton's skin and he decides he must habe her. Jennifer, however, has her niece to take care of since her sister and brother-in-law were killed in an accident, so she can't afford to have an affair with her boss and possibly lose her job. Jennifer's dismissal of Trenton only fuels his desire.
George Anderson lost his wife five years ago and somewhat checked out and his family scatters and breaks apart. Now that he realizes what has happened to his family he enlists his brother Joseph to help put his family back together again. The two begin plotting and start with George's oldest Trenton. Trenton Anderson is furious his father has moved the company's home base to Seattle. When he moves there he meets Jennifer Stellar and is instantly intrigued. So begins the Chase. Jennifer hasn't had it easy, her sister and brother-in-law died in a tragic car accident and leaves behind their daughter. Jennifer is doing everything she can to gain custody of her niece including taking a new job as Trenton's assistant.
I have enjoyed every Melody Anne book I have come in contact with so far. All though some of the Billionaire Bachelors stories have been a little bit fairy tale-ish, but this one I can actually see happening. I don't want to ruin it but the circumstances of which they get married I have seen happen. I can't wait to read more of the Anderson clan!
This has to be the best book I have read so far in this series... Melody Anne has surpassed herself.. This book started out with the George Anderson father of a son who is distant and he wants him home and happy... oh boy one way to make that happen just move the company he owns!! set up a hot assistant Jennifer who he thinks will be great for his son!! then informs Trenton if he doesn't move to the new office he can find a new job! Then the story moves into a fantastic love story.. with laughs..and angst. and after all job well done by the George!
George Anderson decides that it is time to bring his family back together after his wife passed. He decides to move his company which in turns means his children have to move if they want to continue to work for the family company. George and his twin Joesph decide to step in to get all George's kids married and start giving George some grandkids to fill his life like his brother. I really am enjoying this series. I love how loving this family is and just how sexy they all are. Loving it! I think if you love large and loving family.
IMO, it started great then it went standard romance text. Ugh! My other issue is what about the niece. The hero didn't consider her and the fact she lost her parents and had abandonment issues. The heroine is also guilty bc in essence she put a man over her obligation to raise her niece. Maybe I'm reading more than what was there but that's my opinion.
You know each of the "men" characters in Melody's book are handsome, high-handed, egotistical men wh always get their way (both in business and in bed). But the women characters have lived a tough life with many issues, only to become strong women. So in life, so strong men find strong women or weak women?
I chose this rating because this was an really good read. The Anderson's are a pretty awesome family. Joseph and George are some meddling old men, but I like them. They get the job done. I'm ready for book number 5.
4. The Proposal 4 Stars I purchased a copy of the Seattle set novel The Proposal: The Andersons Book Two by Melody Anne and this review was given freely. Joseph’s twin brother George contacts him five years after George’s wife’s death seeking Joseph’s help to rebuild his family while finding love matches for his estranged children. George starts by relocating himself, his business, and his oldest son to Seattle. As the struggling temporary guardian of her 4-year-old niece Molly, Jennifer is thrilled with her new job as executive assistant to the president of the Anderson Corporation until she discovers her new boss is the cocky playboy who hit her with a frisbee in the park and the man she tries hard to resist. 18+ for extended intimate scenes and the dark undertone of kidnapping. 5. The Blackmail 3 Stars I purchased a copy of the Seattle set novel The Blackmail: The Andersons Book Five by Melody Anne and this review was given freely. A touch of irony, a fair amount of violence, extended intimate scenes, and a couple who finds love despite parental interference, and despite Max’s hurting budding journalist Cassie both mentally and physically. Cassie has one goal, to interview determined playboy and closet philanthropist Max Anderson to get a job with the Seattle Times. Unfortunately, to get the interview, she first has to become the victim of a car accident. 18+ for extended intimate scenes. Best if read in series order. 6. The Runaway 3 Stars I purchased a copy of the Seattle set novel The Runaway: The Andersons Book Six by Melody Anne and this review was given freely. Way too much violence. Contains some good foreshadowing indicating early on who the stalker is. Tension-filled with a couple who draws closer together despite tragedy, kidnapping, and a lot of violence. 28-year virgin Brianne Lynn Anderson tried to escape the confines of her overly protective, predominantly male family only to find herself under the protection of Cousin Mark’s friend, ex-Navy SEAL Chad. 18+ for extended intimate scenes and violence. 7. The Final Stand 3 Stars I purchased a copy of the Seattle set novel The Final Stand: The Andersons Book Seven by Melody Anne and this review was given freely. I had to know how the final Anderson child met his match, but I am tired of all the violence and tragedy. Contains unprofessional behavior. Then and Now novels are not my favorite, but this volume is different in that it contains Joseph, George, and Austin’s romances. The patriarchal brothers are gravely injured in a car accident which has Katherine reminiscing on her early days with Joseph while at the same time, Austin tries to build a relationship with nurse Kinsey as they have sex all over the hospital, and the children work to bring George and Esther’s romance out into the open. End with a nice update on all the couples in the series. 18+ for extended intimate scenes in multiple locations and violence.
The Billionaire’s Marriage Proposal: Billionaire Bachelors Book 4 is by Melody Anne. It is fun to watch another family begin to walk their ways down the aisle. George Anderson is just as interested in matchmaking for his own children as Joseph was for his. The two of them together are formidable. Trenton Anderson was not happy about moving the corporation from Chicago to Seattle; but to keep running the company he loved, he would do it. The best thing about the move was being with his cousins again, especially Lucas. He and Lucas were closest in age and had been close before. Now both were Presidents of their corporations which were now side by side. He and Lucas were enjoying a day in the park throwing frisbees like they use to when the frisbee hit a lovely lady in the neck. Quick to check on her to make sure nothing was amiss, Trenton began flirting with her. She flirted back until she recognized Lucas and realized Trenton was an Anderson. She quickly stopped, got her niece Molly, and left the park. She didn’t need the complication of an Anderson since she worked for one now. Jennifer Steller was happy to get a promotion to executive assistant to the president of the company she worked for. It was a dream come true, a permanent job with a company that offered great benefits and was friendly. They even had an on-site nursery for her niece Molly. Since her sister died, she had taken Molly in. She hoped to pass all the hoops for social services and keep Molly forever. This job would certainly help. Things were really looking up for her, until her boss came in her office. He was none other than Trenton Anderson. Would she lose this job before she started?
Even though this book reminds me of the first book in the series, it has its differences. Trenton is upset that the personal assistant hired for him is young and way too hot for him to be around. He is attracted to Jennifer and is upset with himself for being so attracted. Jennifer is grateful for the new job she has working for Trenton because it helps her chances of keeping her niece Molly. Everytime she gets an unexpected visit from the social worker, she feels that she is at her worst and that the social worker will hold that against her. When Jennifer has to go with Trenton away on a business trip, she is hoping that it won't be help against her, even though she received permission to go. While on the trip, Trenton seduces Jennifer, thinking that he can get her out of his system if he does. things are wonderful between them but when the trip comes to an end, it seems as if Trenton has just kicked Jennifer to the curb. She doesn't let that deter her and continues working for Trenton. When she finds out that Molly is going to be taken away and place with a two-parent household, Jennifer is devasted. When Trenton finds out what is going to happen, he comes up with a solution to her problems. Jennifer is grateful but is wondering how long it will last before he becomes bored with her and tosses both Molly and herself to the curb. I really liked Jennifer in this story and I liked what she did concering Christmas at work and how it made Trenton react.
