“Shut up, Shari,” Colleen hisses. “Alanah’s a great girl. She has a heart of gold.” ========== She’s cute, and she’ll grow into a beauty one day. Today is not that day, though. I’m still the hottest chick in this room, by far. ========== Bonnie doesn’t do soft kisses on the cheek. ========== Thankfully, Bonnie has never been shy about sharing her assets for visual inspection. ========== Whatever this relationship might be lacking in emotional connection, our attraction to one another more than makes up for. We’re hot together. ========== Sex with Bonnie is the best I’ve ever had. She’s always completely relaxed, with none of the shyness that the other girls I’ve been with have demonstrated. Bonnie is carefree and vocal about what she enjoys which makes my job a lot easier since I don’t have to second-guess myself. ========== Bonnie isn’t backward in coming forward and once we decided that we were going to be exclusive fuck buddies this year, ========== “I need them back. It’s a long ride home and you’ve fucked me bareback once again. I need some kind of barrier between my lady parts and your bloody seat.” ========== “Imagine how much of a gentleman I’d be if you were actually my girlfriend?” ========== “Typical,” Vic sneers at me. “You snobby bitches are all the same. Happy to fuck us bad boys, as long as nobody finds out and your reputation as daddy’s little princess stays intact.” ========== if you’re man enough to have sex with her, you’re man enough to take control of your family.” ========== We don’t love each other like they did. Vic lives in a world where women come second to the Club and I’ve seen with his own dad just how low down the totem pole their children come. ========== “Do you love me, Vic?” she asks. ========== “No, I don’t,” I reply with complete honesty. “But, that could change with time. You’re one of my favourite people on this earth and love could grow from that over the years. What I can promise you is that I love our child already and I will be the best dad and husband I can possibly be.” ========== If I wasn’t pregnant, I’d be dancing in France right now and Vic would be fucking whatever girl caught his fancy. Instead we’re here, pretending that this house is the perfect new addition to our increasing perfect lives. ========== My belly is humungous. It sits like a giant monument to our mistake, poking in the air and almost obscuring me from view. ========== Will she be that upset? For months she’d talked about never having another child after this one. Calling him a mistake and vowing to take better precautions in the future. ========== The Centre de Danse du Marais in Paris is offering me the opportunity to join their mature-age secondary dance corps in just over six month’s time. ========== She jerks free and slaps me across the face. ========== Things haven’t been good between us for the past few months, but we’ve never had a physical altercation before. ========== My wife is nothing if not overemotional and unpredictable. ========== Bonnie’s love/hate relationship with Alanah has put them at crosshairs a few times recently—something I can’t wrap my head around since Alanah is one of the few people my wife wholeheartedly trusts with our son. ========== There is nothing better on earth than having Victor Kennedy’s full attention on you. I’ve felt it. Lived it for the past two and a half years. And I’ll forever be an addict craving it, even after this all comes to an end. ========== She really is too angelic looking to possibly be true. Except, I’ve discovered after nearly two years of continuously testing her, that her heart is as pure and beautiful as her face. Alanah Kelly was always a good girl. ========== My soul craves a level of applause I’ll never find here. ========== My husband needs his brotherhood. My son needs his family. I need my freedom. ========== The Black Shamrocks President had then created a wound that would never fully heal by keeping Vic’s mother as his mistress until the day Vic patched into the Club. Then he dumped her arse and cut off all monetary support he’d been providing. ========== The emblem of the local high school mocks me from the nylon flap at the top. It’s the reminder I need that despite my wife’s crazy suggestion, and my own illicit desires, Alanah Kelly is still a school girl. ========== Why is everything so easy with her? Why has she always felt more in sync with me than everyone else in my life? ========== “That’s what scares me. I really like you. I have for a very long time. What if I give into my feelings, and she comes back?” ========== Without our honesty, we will never find our truth. ========== All night, I’ve felt the ghost of my wife lingering over us and I don’t want it to follow us to bed. To combat that, I climb on the bed first and tug Alanah on after me. =====
**Edited to add** - I'm now aware that at some point there should be a follow up story for both Alanah AND Bonnie. However the blurb needs to reflect that this is NOT a stand alone book.**
I loved the first book, Conan, and so wanted to feel the same way about this. The story and style of writing etc I did enjoy, but the structure of the book just wasn't for me. It's sold as a romance but doesn't have either a HEA or even a HFN. I felt like it spent far too long on the Vic/Bonnie phase, becoming invested in
I really liked the main characters, Vic, Bonnie and Alanah, and whilst there ARE three protagonists, I wouldn't count this book as containing cheating. The story itself was well written, easy to read and full of emotion. The passion between the characters felt genuine and believable.
What didn't work is that there isn't a clearly defined heroine in this story, nor even a HFN. It would have worked better for me if it had been a duet **WHICH I NOW KNOW IT WILL BE SO THIS IS LESS OF AN ISSUE**. There is no clear resolution at the end and I felt a little disassociated at the end of the story.
I haven't read all of the original Black Shamrock series, which features the children from these books. I'm aware of the future of some of these characters, which has only left me more confused AND I find it difficult to feel invested in them when I'm aware of what their future holds.
However, I stress again that it's a 'me' thing. There was absolutely nothing lacking in terms of pace, action, passion, intrigue and the reality of MC life. This book is also necessary to be able to follow the series, as it ends with a cliffhanger revelation/problem that will continue in the next book.
Yet another hot, sizzling read from Kylie, leaving you salivating for more and wanting the next book right now !!!! You do however need to read these books in order as they link together and I also highly recommend you read the box set Black Shamrocks as well.
Ok, back to Viking. There's a lot going on in this book, which will keep you totally immersed and turning pages !! Victor aka Viking has just gained his patch to the Black Shamrocks MC, but when his girlfriend (I use that term very loosely as neither look on this relationship as anything other than a convenient fling) gets pregnant he does the right thing and stands by her. All seems to be going well until the VP of the Black Shamrocks teenage daughter comes along and Victor's wife starts to want the dancing career she left behind her when she became pregnant. Add to this the President of the Black Shamrocks is making plans for expansion that Victor eventually realises may mean the end of him, his friendships and the Black Shamrocks and you get a truly explosive storyline.
Oh my word, I always say this. Why does the sweetest, most loyal, most caring guys always end up with the most hateful bitches ever!!! Seriously when you read this book you fall in love with Viking. Bonnie.... I have no words for her, selfish biatch….
How do you put yourself ahead of your family. Right, No Words. There was so many people I wanted to drop kick in this book, if I could I would have thrown my kindle
Viking's book had so much more that a MC Book, for me it was more like a slow burn Romance book that will have you falling in love with him and this series.
I have thoughts about the information given to get readers to buy this book. The only info I have is making me uncomfortable. I'll tag spoiler. If anyone reads it please update me so I can decide if this book is right for me.
Note the author doesn't like that I used the tag "cheating B%%tard" OK so cheating is a term that can mean emotional or physical. It's also a term that each reader can decide for themselves. I have not read this book so I was making a judgement solely off this authors blurb. It says in this synopsis that the hero is married to someone he got pregnant and that they are just trying to raise their son. He starts wanting another woman while married or is that not what it said?
Does he immediately divorce? Is he intimate with both? Because that would determine whether he's emotional cheating or physical. Also this author says it's a triangle that isn't really a triangle.. Ok so definitely not for me. I need a loyal hero who knows what he wants and definitely not someone who has no belief in marriage Vows.
But I'll see what reviews say before I decide if he's a cheater or not.
The blurb says he's married but he is lusting after the VPs underage daughter.
I'm absolutely horrified. Is this romance?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was a continuation of the Black Shamrock First Generation series. I liked reading more about these characters. The storyline was good. I didn't like that the H and h didn't get together until almost the end of the book and then it was suddenly over on a cliffhanger. I would have liked if the first part of the story had been wrapped up quicker and more of the book had focused on the H and h together at the end.
I should have known. Mik Kennedy is my favourite Black Shamrock from the original series so it is no surprise that I absolutely love his dad! Kylie is an incredible author who has managed to garner the attention of the readers with her amazing characters in the Black Shamrocks so much so that you are now dying to know how it all began.
Viking is a great read. This story is a little different from all the other Black Shamrocks to date. There are three main characters this story revolves around and if you have read the original series you will know the general gist of what is coming.
Viking has a sensitive soul. He is caring and understanding, a thinker. He wants to shed the cloak of his family past and pave a new way for himself, he was never looking for anything serious with Bonnie, and the fact that she was a prima ballerina with a goal and future plans that didn't include her sticking around suited him just fine. He is just become a patched member of the MC and is hoping to show his worth and hopefully become more than his father ever did.
Bonnie is selfish to her core. Her first love is dance this comes above all else in her life. She does not react well when this is threatened. Viking is her walk on the wild side for the time she has left before she leaves. It surprised her when she started to grow feelings for Vik, but how could you not he is a sweetheart wrapped in a leather cut, I definitely couldn't stop from daydreaming lol.
They have a mutual respect for one another, it is endearing as they both want the other to be happy, and this is the crux of their relationship, they both want the other happy, but feel that they will not be the ones to make that happen.
I feel they both sacrifice a lot to be together. The situation they found themselves in when Bonnie fell pregnant was no surprise that Vik stepped up to the plate knowing that this was not their ideal but hoping to make something incredible out of it. That is Viking to his core an eternal optimist. He wants to believe they will work out for the sake of their baby, but he could never have foreseen what was to come. Storm is a brewing within the MC, the first hand has been dealt and now Viking must sacrifice more of himself than he though possible.
Viking is a threat to the O'Brien reign in the MC and they better watch out as they have definitely underestimated this man. I am super excited for Butch's story as I am sure there will be more surprises in store for this MC.
Another great action, fast paced MC book, the second story in the first generation of the Black Shamrocks MC. It picks up immediately with the presentation of the young men being patched in as a member of the club and given road names. Victor “Viking” Kennedy is the son of the road captain and lived in the club lifestyle all his life with his friends. He met Bonnie Dubois and they agreed to a year long affair until she leaves to pursue her dancing career in Frances. The affair turns into a marriage after an unexpected pregnancy occurs but she doesn’t want to be tied down. Vic relationship with Bonnie was simply an agreement without feeling because his heart belongs to his best friend sister and the Vice-President daughter, Alanah, who is forbidden fruit. Bonnie Dubois is from the other side of the track... a well off family but enjoying an adventure with a bad boy. Her career is important to her as well as her family until she was interrupted it with the unexpected. Vic is the lowest on the ranking in the club hierarchy due to his parents actions but received preferential treatment unbeknown to what expected in returned. I loved Viking strength and determination to push forward through all the turmoil that enters into his life. The abrupt ending was a shock with a cliffhanger and hope more clarification is given in the next book (Butch). ***** voluntarily received an advance copy of this book.*****
Viking by Kylie Hillman is a steamy and sexy slow burn romance with a touch of the forbidden. This is not the first book in the series, but is the first I read and though I did enjoy it, I think reading the previous books would have given me more of the MC backstory. I am definitely going back and checking this series out!
Victor “Viking” Kennedy is part of the Black Shamrocks MC and though involved with Bonnie Dubois, both know it is not the lasting kind. A fling with permanent results, they enjoy each other until the time Bonnie will leave to follow her dreams. It works for them, until Alanah enters Victor’s life. Alanah is the daughter of his VP and totally off limits.
So begins Victor’s journey. He tries to ignore his connection to Alanah, but how can you fight something so real and strong? Viking knows he is not good enough for her. But at his core, Victor is a loyal and caring man. Will Victor follow his heart or what he believes is right?
I have to say I enjoyed reading Viking, however, as we all know MC stories are not always about hearts and flowers and the ending will leave you wanting, but the story is a good one and the series does continue on. I enjoyed the characters, the angst and their journey and am looking forward to reading more from this author and series.
I love this series! Not an MC lite with the rough, dirty brothers and the sensitive issues handled with superb storytelling. The characters jump off the pages right into your heart, or a little further south if it's one of the hot bikers ;) and Viking will definitely cause some moisture! This author creates characters that are outstanding in their complexity and originality along with a plot that is emotional, dramatic and thrilling. We learn about Viking's backstory and it's not what you expect. This peek into his history is telling and makes him intriguing to say the least and his affair with ballerina Bonnie and it's aftermath is a great storyline with lifelong consequences. Then there's Alanah, his real love. She's young, sweet, and oh so forbidden. This story has some angst as Viking fights his feelings and takes us on a slow ride of romance as Viking and Alanah flirt with disaster. Will they get their happily ever after in this MC world? This author has created an MC family that is like no other and absolutely terrific. I love unconventional endings and Viking's story is not finished. I can't wait for the continuation in next installment. Come on Butch, we're ready! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
This story definitely validated my feeling that something was going on behind the scenes in the previous book. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Bonnie, and my dislike continued and increased towards the end of the story. While Bonnie was the only one who supported Colleen, I felt that she contradicted herself with her own situation. Vic did everything he could to rectify the situation and be better than his parents and the situation he grew up in. While Bonnie was compliant at first, over time you could tell that the relationship between her and Vic was deteriorating quickly. In the second portion of the story, Alanna becomes more prominent and the relationship between her and Vic is different. In the end, I felt the story ended pretty abruptly but showed that there was something going on with the MC as well as Paddy’s character and his place in the MC as well as the group of friends. I’m interested to read the next generation’s stories as reading those might have been a better preface for me prior to reading this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Viking by Kylie Hillman is the second installment in her Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation series. Viking is not a standalone and I strongly recommend to read the previous book, Conan, first. Viking picks up where Conan was left off. The prospects Colin, Victor, Brian and Paddy are the newest members of the Black Shamrocks MC. And while Conan is Colin´s story, Viking features Victor. Victor is a bit lost. He´s from the wrong family and heritage seems important to the MC. He has a casual relationship with Bonnie Dubois, a girl from a good family who beads her time. She wants to go to France to improve her dancing career and needs a bit pick me up in the meantime. Victor is secretly in love with another girl, a girl totally off limits. What to do? Viking is a intersting read. Normally I´m a sucker for MC stories and on´t get me wrong, this story is well written, but it´s a bit a slow burn. The story ends with a kind of cliffie and continues in the next installment, Butch.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE KYLIE'S WORK!!! Kylie Hillman is one incredible author. I have read and loved every word she's written. Viking is no exception. It's great to go back to the beginning. To see where it all started. To learn about those who shaped and influenced our favorite men of the Black Shamrocks MC. Viking's story is quite remarkable and brilliantly written. Kylie has such an amazing way with words. Her characters are so well written. The storyline flows perfectly and as always, Kylie leaves you wanting more. I can't wait to read Butch's story and see where Kylie takes us next. The Black Shamrocks MC series was addicting. The First Generation series is proving to be as well. I, for one, am grateful to Kylie for sharing her stories with us. Another 5 star read from Kylie Hillman. I absolutely loved it!
OMG! I have just finished this book and I loved it. I loved the way you find out the difference between the characters. Kylie has outdone herself again with yet another great book.
Viking is one of the first generation boys that you want to know more about cause you don't know alot about him but when you read this book, you find out that he is one of the most loyal guys that you will ever meet. He will put his family first above anyone. What Viking loves he will protect to a fault. Thats what I love about him.
I can't wait to read more of this series on the first generation because it leaves you wondering what will happen sith each one. I hope that you enjoy this book as much I have. If you loved Conan then you will love Viking enjoy 😁😁
What a fantastic, emotional and heart wrenching read. This book was a rollercoaster full of emotions. It was well written and had me turning pages as quick as I could. I love these characters and enjoy going on their journey with them. I must say I did enjoy the second part of the book more than the first but I still thought Bonnie and Vic were great together, although I wasn’t a big fan of Bonnie’s alone for the majority of the read. I absolutely loved Vic. My heart broke for him constantly but I loved his loyalty and the way he loves others, especially with Alanah. And how cute was Mik! That ending ripped my heart out and tore it to pieces but I am more than ready for book three to arrive 4.5 stars
I want to be Viking’s fictional wife. Bonnie is a self centered bitch. I understand her wanting to have her dancing career back but she could have gone about it much less selfishly. Slinking out like she did was a cowardly way of “ending” your marriage. She wants him to move on with Alanah but wait...YOU’RE STILL MARRIED!!! He’s still married to your ass!! UGH!! I just wanted to strangle her!!
This book made my heart heavy because of reading the other books first, you kinda know what’s going to happen and poor Viking, the sweet, gentle, loving man he is, gets the shaft...repeatedly. Makes me want to hold him forever.
Other than all that, I loved this book and want to drop kick Paddy straight to hell...lol. GREAR JOB!!!!
Fran’s 5-🛍🛍🛍🛍🛍 Review Book: Viking Author: Kylie Hillman Series: Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation book 2 Genre: MC Romance, suspense Release Date: July 24th 2018 Rating :5 stars
Wow this one is the second book in the generations series of the Black Shamrocks MC and it packs a doozy. Viking thought he had his life planned out join the Black Shamrocks and have a fun year with Bonnie. Then everything changes but Viking takes it in stride and loves the turn his life made . Then Bonnie shakes it all up again. I worried Viking would not be able to take what he goes through but he proves his heart knows what it needs to do . I can't wait for Butch’s story
Viking is Book 2 in the Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation Series and it sure does take you on one hell of a ride. Twists and turns, Deception, Friendship, Loyalty and drama, this book will keep you turning the pages just to see what comes next.
It was a fantastic read and Viking well damn that man is one complex character that I can not get enough of.
I love how we are reconnecting with the characters from the Black Shamrocks Series through their fathers it feels the need for more in a way that's fresh and intriguing. Although I am not sure how I feel about lusting over my book boyfriends Daddy's.
I am loving this series so far and am so excited for the next book!
Victor and Bonnie had an arrangement that was based on sex not love. She is a sexy ballerina that he doesn’t want to resist, and she is biding her time until she can have the career she always wanted. It was only supposed to last a year, but fate had other plans.
If that isn’t complicated enough Alanah, the VP’s daughter, is all he can think about and he knows he should stay away but what happens if he can’t?
The characters are well developed, love them or hate them, and this story takes you on an adventure filled with drama, twists and heat. Butch’s story can’t come soon enough. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Second book in the series and I had to jump straight in after book 1. This book will leave you with whip lash going between Bonnie and Vik, and and Alanah. I hate Bonnie. I can't even make an excuse to like her. Ann's as selfish and inconsiderate. I do prefer Alanah and I hope they get a HEA. This book leaves you on a cliff wondering g what to expect next. I was slightly disappointed with the amount of editing, typo mistakes there were in this book. The book has potential to be a five star read. If you like MC then this is a book for you.
I love how Kylie writes her stories. They are full of on in-your-face, make no apologies characters who know how to make you love them even when at times you want to scream at them.
The storytelling is fierce, unpredictable and emotional. I didn't feel like I was reading a book, it felt like a movie because I could see each scene in my mind.
The twists, suspense, thrills, unique characters and surprises make this one MC romance that you can not ignore. Trust me...it's beyond amazing!!!! I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
Oh my Viking! He's seriously my favorite after this book. Now I will admit this book might be difficult for some readers as there is a bit of a love triangle but it's such a tough story between the 3 characters. Viking, Bonnie, and Alanah were characters I just wanted to hug and hold. The author does a great job relaying everyone's feelings and their emotions, the decisions that have to be made. Overall, a terrific story that I wish the book had gone on and on.
This book kind of felt like pulling teeth. I didn’t really understand how it was a love story between Alanah and Viking when we had more book with Viking and Bonnie. I barely found it in myself to finish the book. If it was a paperback and not an audiobook, then I would’ve never been able to finish. The storyline felt chaotic for no reason, and the ending was not necessary at all. it just left me feeling muddled. Not a good read.
Viking and Bonnie have a good thing on till one day a knock on Vikings door changes his life. This book is about love and heartache and finding love where you least expect it. I love Alanah she’s sweet and strong and knows what she wants even though she is young. Viking makes you swoon and you feel his feelings with every page. Great story I just want more! 4/5 stars
I love this author so much and I really don’t think she can write a bad book , Viking was amazing I loved him from the start I can’t wait fir the rest of the story to see where it goes. I enjoyed this book so much I’m going straight into a re read of the box set Black Shamrocks I’m sure these first generation books will put a whole new spin on them
Holy cow Cole married & a dad this makes my heart very happy. Vic and Bonnie I'm torn here I want to cheer them on, but I feel Alanah would be much better for him. I can't wait to see what happens next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book from an advanced reader copy. I enjoyed reading this book. The story was very well written. The chemistry between characters flowed very well through out the story. I would recommend this book to others who read MC books.
And an AMAZING series continues! I loved Viking! Strong characters and a storyline that keeps you turning the pages! I highly recommend this this book, the whole series is a fantastic read start to the latest book!! Kudos to Kylie Hillman!! I can’t wait for the next one!
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobooks of this title. (Goodfm)
I have read a few "bikers novels", this one having a decided Aussie twist. It doesn't have the violence others have had, but has the potential, in further episodes.
