I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Endeavour Press! This short novel was not what I was expecting. Instead of a game of cat and mouse, it is more of a philosophical dissertation about life and death, with a lot of cultural facts thrown in for good measure. Albert wants to die, but he wants to go out with a bang, taken out by a gorgeous woman. So, he signs a deal with Devi (interestingly, her name is similar to another character who likes to make deals). Caught in between, Albert's friend Casey wants to stop this madness. I wish we had seen more of their game – the story gives readers interesting glances of how Devi and Albert play with each other, but the bulk of the novel is mostly their inner thoughts. The last part of the plot was fascinating, and I especially liked the ending. This is a good short read that will make you think.
