Cellmate's Rules
I’m Brent Stevens, the new guy at Manley State Penitentiary. I think I have a problem. I look like a twink, walk like a twink, and swish like a twink. I’m straight — but the other inmates aren’t buying my story.
My muscular cellmate Vinny Hanlon offered to protect me from sexual predators in return for a few favors. But I’d have to be gay to do what he wants. I didn’t feel in any danger, so I declined.
The other prisoners are educating me. Prison is nothing like outside, and we have our own harsh laws. An unclaimed prisoner like me is considered available.
Maybe my smart move is to accept Vinny’s protection. Otherwise, the men in the laundry room may do more awful things to me tomorrow. Yet if I accept, what will Vinny want from me in our cell tonight?
