**This story isn't a standalone novella. Please read at least Reawakening the Dragon first.**
On the day Jane Hartley’s online video series finally launches, she and Kai receive word that his younger half-sister, Delia, is missing. Gaining permission to search for her in Wales, Kai and Jane work together to find the teenage dragon-shifter before she winds up in the hands of the dragon hunters, or worse.
As the danger amps up, Kai and Jane’s relationship is put to the ultimate test. Will Kai and his dragon choose Jane above all? Or, will a ghost from Kai’s past end up tearing them apart?
Approximately 30,000 words with a happy ending (novella). / 18+ for explicit language and sexual situations.
Jessie Donovan has sold over half a million books, has given away hundreds of thousands more to readers for free, and has even hit the NY Times and USA Today bestseller lists. She is best known for her dragon-shifter series, but also writes about magic users, aliens, and even has a crazy romantic comedy series set in Scotland. When not reading a book, attempting to tame her yard, or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, she can often be found interacting with her readers on Facebook. She lives near Seattle, where, yes, it rains a lot but it also makes everything green.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is awesome! I’m not sure why I love that look on his face, but I do!
This is the 10th book in the Stonefire series, but there are other dragon books in the spin-off series too! These books are for adults only due to the steamy content. I highly recommend reading them all and in the order that they were written. I truly love this whole series, and it is one of my favorite series!
This story is about Kai and Jane’s adventure in finding Kai’s sister. They have to deal with Kai’s past and some treachery while uncovering the mystery behind his sister’s disappearance. It was a fantastic adventure that I didn’t want to put down. I was worried when some things unfolded, but it was all taken care of, and I see some exciting possibilities for the future for Stonefire and Snowridge.
I highly recommend this book and series to all dragon shifter fans especially if you have read any of this series and enjoyed it! I love these dragons!!
Wow, just wow! Donovan definitely took me on a wild and racy ride with this one. Her vivid narrative combined with a well thought out plot in this quick but exciting novella that kept me entertained from cover to cover.
The in depth way that she presents her characters makes them larger than life but also very, very approachable. I love the twist on the mate bond and the mating frenzy that we see here. It clarifies so much for me, while also providing the basis for one unforgettable story.
All in all this was a well thought out and endlessly entertaining instalment in this series that I'm better off for having read.
FABULOUS ADDITION TO THE SERIES !!! Title: Finding the Dragon Series: Stonefire Dragons Author: Jessie Donovan Designation: Book 10 of Stonefire Dragons Series, Novella Length, No Cliffhanger But Not Recommended As Standalone #paranormalromance #dragonshifterhero #humanheroine Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars***** **Disclosure: Finding the Dragon is a sequel to Reawakening the Dragon, Book Five of the Stonefire Dragons Series, featuring dragonshifter Kai Sutherland and human investigative reporter Jane Hartley. Although Reawakening the Dragon, Book 5, concluded with a lovely happy ending, this novella is a followup which addresses an intriguing little plot bunny left behind by Donovan in Kai and Jane's original story. Most of Donovan's recent releases in both the Stonefire and Lochguard Series can be read as standalones, but I highly recommend, at least, reading Reawakening the Dragon, Book 5 of the Stonefire Dragons Series prior to reading this novella.
I've been a Jessie Donovan fan for years and never miss a new release. Donovan is, without a doubt, one of the most reliable authors in the paranormal romance genre today, consistently penning well crafted and written paranormal romance with extraordinary worlds, highly imaginative storylines, fascinating characters, and always beautiful covers. And Finding the Dragon is no exception! I was thrilled when Donovan announced she would be doing a follow-up novella to Reawakening the Dragon which featured handsome, stubborn, and domineering dragonshifter Kai Sutherland, Head Protector of Stonefire, and beautiful, hardheaded, and fiercely independent BBC investigative reporter/journalist Jane Hartley. I was immediately smitten with Kai Sutherland when he was first introduced early in the Stonefire Series and hoped Donovan would create a story for him, but I knew it would take a very special young woman to hold her own against the strong, opinionated Head Protector. And plucky BBC investigative reporter/journalist Jane Hartley was the perfect ying for his yang! She countered his every move with skill, smarts, and a whole lot of sass. These two characters complemented each other brilliantly with the perfect combination of snark and passion. Kai and Jane have always been two of my favorite Stonefire characters and both have appeared frequently throughout the entire series. I was so hoping this book would address a little plot bunny left behind by Donovan in their original story and it did! Thank you, Jessie Donovan. It's not uncommon for Donovan to leave little unopened surprises for her readers. They're like baby seedlings that need only a water, fertilizer, and love to grow, and Donovan cultivates them with great skill. She definitely keeps her readers on their toes! But as usual, I digress, so let's talk about Finding the Dragon. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives. The primary points of view are given by the two protagonists, dragonshifter Kai Sutherland and his human mate of less than a year, former investigative Jane Hartley, but we also get a brief insight from Rhydian Griffiths, leader of Clan Snowridge and a fairly new character in the series. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well executed and flows effortlessly. But my favorite component of all Donovan's stories is the large, diverse cast of engaging characters. Once you become a Donovan fan, these remarkable characters become your friends and family. It feels like coming home for a lovely visit every time I read a Donovan story. No spoilers from me but I will say this... A stubborn dragonshifter Head Protector determined to find his missing sister and protect the woman he loves-check! A beautiful human reporter who champions dragonshifters and is determined to protect her dragonshifter mate-check! A rebellious teenage dragonshifter who wants to become an investigative reporter like her brother's new mate but seems to have a knack for getting herself into trouble-check! Danger, drama, betrayal, adventure, angst, suspense, heinous enemies, and a blast from the past with less than honorable intentions-check! Dreamy romance and heartwarming love-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
DId I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. These horny dragons do love their sexy times! lol... Will I read this author again? Absolutely! I can hardly wait for Donovan's next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
This is a continuation of Kai and Jane's story from a previous book. You do need to read the books in order as with the previous books there are multiple plots woven together to make one very entertaining and cohesive story. This story will put to the test the theory that the pull of fated mates will overrule the love of chosen mates. Kai's teenaged sister has gone missing which brings Kai and Jane to his family's clan land to help find her. While there, not only will they be battling the dragon hunters, but also fated mates and dragons with old ideas about humans not being fit for dragons. The story is action packed and entertaining!
I love Kai and Jane. I was a bit hoping that we got to see some of Jane's podcast however like the synopsis says it is mainly about trying to find Kai's baby sister. She decides to try to find the missing kids that was mentioned in the previous books. This is a very quick read and a lot of conflicts within Kai's and Jane's relationship has been resolved in this book. I am glad for that and I cannot wait for them to finally have a baby since, Kai's and Jane's moms are completely and utterly ready for grandkids.
I did enjoy the setup for a new character who I am hoping gets a book; the clan leader and the one that got away. I'm feeling that the little boy that was rescued is the nephew of the clan's leaders true mate. Hopefully that story is just around the corner however I do know that Jessie Donovan has a number of books to write before he gets his own story.
My very favorite dragonmen in the world, well really I love the dragons and their attitudes, the way they argue with their dragonman....Cracks me up everytime!
Kai teenage sister Delia in Wales has gone and done it, her desire to be a journalist like Jane and prove herself, gets her in trouble and now she's missing. Enter Stonefire's Head Protector Kai, he must go to Wales and find his sister and guess who's coming along...You got it, his human mate Jane.
Jane Hartley is in love with her Dragonman and she knows he loves her, but he is still so insecure after he was rejected years ago by his true mate. Jane has done everything in her power to convince him she will never leave him, but now his dragon is put to the test. His true mate Maggie has just widowed and she wants Kai now, will her kiss trigger the mating frenzy, or will his love for her be strong enough to withstand it and will Jane forgive him for kissing Maggie?
Jessie knows how to weave a net, lace it with a great story, sprinkle in Alphas of BOTH sexes and ZAP where did the time go?
We first met Kai Sutherland and Jane Hartley in Reawakening the Dragon (Stonefire British Dragons Book 5). I’ll be honest, you really need to at LEAST read that book to get the great backstory these two have. Kai is Head Protector for Clan Stonefire, a very stubborn as a Scotsman, Alpha, dragon-male of the first order. He’s Blond, tall, muscled, hunky, knows what he wants and Oh yeah, He wanted Jane Hartley!!! Growl!!!!!!!! Jane on the other hand is a svelte, sexy, dark haired, driven, career woman (BBC Reporter no less!) who also can smell a story miles away! No, I’m NOT recapping here….. go get the first book and read It yourself!
We begin with Kai and Jane having been mated a while. They still are in the throes of the Honeymoon stage! All It takes is a LOOK! But there is trouble a foot! Delia, Kai’s younger sister has turned up missing. She’s 16 going on 30, wants to know WHY, HOW, WHEN and is very good at getting herself into trouble. Problem is she’s been gone for a few days, has only called once to say shes ok! Where could a 16yr old be? When Rhydian, Snowridge Clan leader asks for Kai’s help, he drops everything. Family is important to every dragonshifter. When they arrive in Wales, they find out they were only old part of the story. Its bigger than anyone thought. Delia is not the only dragonshifter missing. No one knows why, but some children are ALSO gone! Who took the kids? Are dragon hunters responsible? Did Delia find something and leave to investigate? Kai and Jane, both want to strangle Rhydian on the spot! Dragon hunters are extremely dangerous, as they have seen up close and personal!
Well now that I’ve given you a glimpse, know you want to read this, I won’t waste any more or your time! Kai and Jane are embroiled in an adventure that also shows sides of themselves they had kept secret, hidden away. Life past plays a role in the story. So pull up chair, get a drink, and settle in with Finding the Dragon. Oh, Jessie recently posted this is a couple with more to say!!! WOW! Another adventure just waiting to be written!
I was given an ARC but the Review is my own, freely written.
Finding the Dragon Stonefire British Dragons Book 10 by Jessie Donovan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finding the Dragon is the 10th Book in the Stonefire Dragons series, there's a sexy hero, a spunky writer, and an Ex mate. What's there not to like? This is definitely entertaining. It's by Jessie Donovan she is a favorite of mine which I have read, most of her other books and I couldn't wait to read this one. Jessie always gives Jane Hartley a breath of life, she is tough, knows what she wants, and is a riot that's a lots of fun. Kai Sutherland is head protector of Stonefire dragons. He and his dragon has long ago claimed Jane as their mate but they have never gone through a mate frenzy. But they are mates forever. You will really enjoy Kai and Jane relationship and their banter all the way through the book. Paranormal Fantasy is a genre I hope you enjoy, and Jessie always do a great job of creating the dragon world and using their special abilities all while in the real world. I fully appreciated this is a great addition to this series. I only had one issue with it... It was too short! I fell in love with Jane and Kai and I really wanted more story. No one wants to leave when they are having a good time and I was having a wonderful time. I read this ARC copy provided to me by the author with no expectations or requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this release and my comments here are my honest, sincere, and enthusiastic opinion. Of course I would read any book Jessie Donovan writes again again! And as soon as her next book is release! You will be so completely and totally entertain as I!
I recently discovered Jessie Donovan’s dragon shifter novels & have found them to be a light, imaginative, & delightful fantasy/paranormal series based in present day UK, Scotland, Wales, & Ireland. This ten chapter novella continues weaving both human & dragon shifter characters previously met in other books of the series into new adventures & dangers. Although this novella is not long enough to contain the richness of Jessie’s full-length novels, a nice resolution was provided for the H/h’s relationship begun in “Reawakening the Dragon.”
“Finding the Dragon” is book #14 in Jessie Donovan’s dual-clan dragon shifter series (and “Stonefire” clan book, #10). In addition, there are currently 7 books in Jessie’s “Lochguard” clan series. The time line of the 2 clan-book series (Stonefire & Lochguard) intermix & cross over. Jessie includes a reading order to assist readers at the back of nearly all her books (and also publishes it on her website). I would highly recommend beginning at the beginning of the series with “Sacrificed to a Dragon”, Stonefire book #1) for the fullest enjoyment. This series is one of my favorites in the dragon shifter genre - very easy & fun to read. I love mixing them up between some of my less light/thriller/suspense type novels. (Jessie’s Kelderan alien series is also great fun!)
Please note although not extreme in this particular novella, these dragon shifter novels do contain intimate sexual content between H/h mated pairs.
We met Kai and Jane in "Rewakening the Dragon". (Great book, read it!) Kai is the Head Protector for his Clan, the Stonefire Dragons. Jane is an investigative reporter that is creating a blog/video to improve dragon/human relations. Jane has been working hard and today is the day she uploads her product. Kai and Jane are mated but not true mates. Kai knew his true mate but she rejected him for another. This mating is Kai's second chance for happiness. They are devoted to one another. Kai gets a call telling him his little sister has gone missing. She and his mother live with another dragon clan, the Welsh Snowridge Clan. Jane and Kai go to Snowridge to help find his sister and finds that there are other children missing too. When they arrive Jane finds that Kai's ex, his true mate is living with the clan and she is now single. Jane know that Kai and his dragon loves her but what if the mating frenzy would arise? Can they solve the mystery of the missing children and rescue them? Will Kai's ex want him back? I can tell you that this book made me happy and angry. Kai's ex was devious, Maggie made me angry. There are many things going on in this book. It is a good read and a great follow-up on two great characters. We also get a nice glimpse of the Snowridge Clan.
It is great to see Jane and Kai get another story. They are one of the rare couples in the series that were not fated mates with a frenzy that burned hard and fast but drawn together by love. His dragon was called by another years ago and rejected.
You definitely need to read Reawakening the Dragon (Stonefire British Dragons Book 5) to really understand and enjoy the novella the most. The book is the start of their relationship.
Jane is a reporter that tends to know no fear when pursuing a story and Kai is a protector of the dragons that is fearless in his desire to keep them safe from their enemies. They both have some insecurities about their relationship because they are not fated.
They make a fantastic couple. She helps him loosen up and he gives her the support she needs.
This novella has plenty of action as well as a great romance. There are some surprises too and a new character that I look forward to reading more about. I highly recommend you read the whole series.

I absolutely loved this book!!!!! My favorite characters and a new story !!!! As always Mrs Donovan has delivered an excellent book with a fast paced story that kept us glued to our seats. I loved the way she weaved the stories and the new characters we met that may lead to a future book and i love the Alphaness in both Jane and Kai . I can't wait to see what the future holds for the two of them!
Finding The Dragon By Jessie Donovan Kai finds it hard to over come some of his insecurities of Jane possible leaving him Kai Dragon is Secure that Jane will never leave Kai. with Jane's Reassurance she will try to help him overcome his Doubts. Kai will come face to face with his Past. Jane will use her skills too help SnowRidge find there Missing People. Will Kai get Pasted his Past and have a future with Jane or Will he be destroyed but his Past. Will Kai & Jane find the missing people from SnowRidge or will they be lost forever. You will love the Ending .
I liked this book, I loved seeing Kai and Jane again.
The day for Janes video launch has finally arrived, except that while its uploading they’re told Kai’s sister is missing. Determined to find her and bring her home both Jane and Kai head to help the Snowridge clan.
While this is a Stonefire clan story it is mostly set in the Snowridge clan and gave an idea of what this clan is all about. Kai is still fighting his doubts and Jane is still trying to convince him otherwise but their interactions and affection show a love I just adored. The everlasting kind. The story took some troubling twists and turns that had me on edge hoping everything would be alright. Another amazing instalment in the Dragon world created by Ms Donovan.
Jane and Kai are back and this time the are returning to Kai's old home to find his missing sister. This was a great return and we get to see where this couple left off since we can get the answers to some of the questions we had at the end of Rewakening the Dragon. Jane is still the sassy journalist from before and Kai is still the strong-willed Head Protector. We get to see both of their insecurities and also their strength in each other. This is a short story but we still get a lot of action. Don't want to give away any spoilers. Can't wait for the next book.
I received a copy of this book for a honest review...
I loved this follow up story on Kai and Jane. It was a sweet and entertaining read, but it also brings something else for Kai, and that is closure...at last. We always knew that Jane was the woman for Kai but it’s nice to get rid of the ‘what ifs’ once and for all. The storyline as usual was spot on, as was the writing. And as always for me I absolutely love the dialogue between the man and his dragon. It’s a part of these books that I really look forward to reading, it’s so cleverly done and I’m never disappointed. So overall another fantastic read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
It's always nice to go back and read about couples you previously fell in love with. This is a cute story about Jane and her dragon man Kai. You should really read or listen to their full length book 'Reawakening the Dragon' before you read this one.
Kai's teenage sister is missing so he returns home with his mate Jane at his side. Going home is never easy, especially when you left with a broken heart. There were a few twist in this short story that I wasn't expecting along with one that, like a bad accident, you saw coming but knew you couldn't do anything to stop it.
Well, I'm glad that this is not the ending of Jane and Kai story. I love that Kai pick Jane as her true love. Maybe not here true mate but true love. And I love that there is more stories to come. They are in love. I like that Jane is not pregnant. In some of the other stories there are true mate and get pregnant. Love that but I also love how Jane wants to wait. I can't wait when more stories come out. Love that they are introducing new characters and potentially more stories. Never end this series! Thank you!!
While I think it's stilly that an author has to justify themselves when they step outside the normal flow of their books and explain a relationship that is slightly different....I am glad that this book was written! I wanted to see closer to kai's history and their families finally get to come together and this book delivered! To all those that took issue to the first book with this couple just because they weren't true mates...... Shame on you! Keep writing and killing it Donovan! Your books are bloody fantastic!
It's always wonderful to revisit the characters from previous story. I like that I get a chance to see what they been up too and Jane and Kai definitely didn't disappoint. This short story was fantastic!!! It's packed with danger, action, crazy ex's, and of course steamy romance. Overall enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Jane and Kai's follow up! and holy sh**e was there a lot going on. It's hard to write a review without spoilers but I'll do my best here:
So after hearing that his sister is missing Kai and Jane head to Smowbridge to go and find her. What they discover is a bigger plot that practically blew my mind!
First let's talk about the fact that Jane and Kai had so many insecurities that was addressed here. Mostly being the fear of losing the other, I am glad they got to prove to each other they were more than enough.
There was three scenes that made me angry, all involving Kai's past. It was with gritted teeth that I read through them (you will too)
Then the emotional side of it was also hard not to get sad about it. But thankfully it wasn't many. Even though this book had such much happening with the Snowbridge clan it was still amazing and it open it up to more questions though.
The answers I hope are in Craved by the Dragon (which I can't wait to read!) A lot packed into a novella and you will not be disappointed these books are getting better and better. And let me point out that with long standing series like this it's usually the opposite. But Jessie manages to up the ante, bravo girl!
The only thing I can say is WOW!!!! Jessie Donovan has written another fantastic story with Finding The Dragon!!! Here Jane and Kai come to Wales to help find his sister but there several underlying conspiracies going on outside and inside the dragon lands. This book keeps you on your toes as to who did what and to whom. It brings in characters from the other books in the series Stonefire Dragons. It’s a must read !!!!!!!
Jane harley is the human mate to Kai sutherland the head protector of the stonefire clan. When his sister and some other kids go missing Jane and Kai have to travel to another clan and help find them. LOVE the amazing story it's full of action, mystery, betrayal and fantastic character. I couldn't put this book down. If you live dragon shifters this will be you favourite series Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it
Nice story revisiting Kai & Jane along with more of snowridge. Have to say of all books read of series so far this one IS a bit slower paced, and more like a side story extra for Kai & Jane. Although does tie things up better of Kai's past Maggie, it was a bit weak of a ending in that part. That or I have become "bloodthirsty" for better vengence/ retribution. Lol. Too much reading of Alpha personalities 😂. But still a nice chapter of the overall series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced readers copy of this story. Jessie Donovan did a wonderful job with this story. It kept me captivated from start to finish. I love how her dragon world sucks you in and leaves you wanting more stories. I cannot wait until the next book in her series is released so I can devour that one too.
Kai and Jane are two of my favorite characters in this series. I enjoyed the mini drama presented here with the continuation of the dragon hunters. I like how this novella ties in many of the storylines from the series and expands some of them as well. I look forward to the next installment in this series.
I love this stonefire novella. It was great to see Kai and Jane again along with some of the stonefire dragons. When Kai sister goes missing in Wales he and Jane go to find her. When his mating is threatened by a woman in his past, Kai needs to go along with his dragon to save is mating. This stonefire book sets up us for the next one. I cannot hardly wait till next year for more books.
I will absolutely never ever have enough of my dragon shifters!!! Jane and Kai's story was sweet, but I think we all needed Kai and his true mates path to fully cross to trust their love. This gave great closure while being a fantastic story and introducing great new characters. Bring on book 11!!!!
Loving the fact on revisiting previous characters with updates of their lives is a fantastic idea. I enjoyed reading this because with Kai and Jane you read about him visiting his mothers clan to search for his sister and unexpected events occur and Janes life gets threatened by kai’s past. This is a must read with the series. Love this world.
