Leila King leads a difficult life. The turmoil she has found herself in was her own doing, but that did not make it any easier to deal with. Faced with circumstances beyond her control, Leila must find a way to appease her new love, Gordon Roth, yet not lose touch with her strong, female alter-ego, Goddess. At the same time, her concern for her once devoted and obedient submissive pet, Matthew becomes almost more than she can tolerate.
In attempt to distract herself from her chaotic life, Leila frequents the Red Velvet Room, where she can surround herself with like-minded people and embrace her dominatrix side screaming from within to be released. It is a welcome release and escape from the brewing situation with Matthew.
On the run and in hiding for nearly killing Gordon, Matthew’s continuous contact with Leila puts her at risk of losing it all. While Gordon has pledged himself to Leila, Matthew will always have a special place in her world, creating a plethora of obstacles for the couple. When the law finally catches up with Matthew, Leila is forced to take the stand and testify against him, something she never wanted to do.
With the ultimate questions yet to be answered, Leila’s story culminates in a frenzy of head-spinning events that test the strength and resolve of her new relationship with Gordon, and ultimately their futures together. Will his self-professed love and submissive dedication be enough to pull through? We shall see…
I read this book objectively and with an open mind. I believe this installment of the Goddess Series is an emotional roller coaster that will leave readers reeling and pondering long after they finis. A great true to life story of life's mishaps made right by love and dedication. Enjoy!
I received an advanced copy of this book and have opted to provide this honest review.
This is the second book by author RJ Castille in the Goddess series. This tome offered even more twists and turns. Her Gordon & Matthew sequence at the beginning... VERY HOT!!
I can't wait to see what comes next from this author!
Note: I edited this book, so the reading process took longer than normal. If just reading for the story alone, I would guess it should take a little less than 4 hours.
This is part two of the Goddess Series , this is an incredible story with so many twists and turns I couldn't put it down ! Leila and Gordon were so passionate together I loved reading about them , I hope there's a book three to follow . If your looking for a great read this is it , great storyline and sexy characters .
I reluctantly finished it because I had to know the mystery of who the father is and how all of that would turn out. But this book, like the first one, did not make me feel good. I felt stressed reading it, and I am mad at the book.
In one point Leila admits that she doesn't even know what love is. Finally! She finally admits it! She had previously said she loves both of her love interests, and was so emotional about both of them, but I don't buy it at all. She has never been on a single date with either of these men. All she knows of them is bedroom role play. Aside from Gordon, who was an emotionally abusive boss to her--which is not endearing. Suddenly at the last book they were in love, why? Because the sex was hot? Ew, come on, he was mean to her for years. Matthew was playing with her and devoted as a submissive for a long time, so of course she has some feelings for him but when he was first described she was still not in love with him after all that. None of these things are love. It makes me wonder if the author knows what love is, and it makes me quite sad. I would be fine if these things were described as affection, adoration, worship, excitement, but not love. I have been in the scene and been heavily involved as well, and learned the difference. I think it is disturbing to confuse love with attraction, obsession, chemistry, worship... But I guess if someone is really all about the 24-7 relationship maybe this is all they want. I don't know but it strikes my nerves.
Perhaps someone else would see the above differently, but I still have to say because of the omission of any real relationship development outside of the bedroom, neither of the men is more than a flat character. This is in stark contrast from Leila. Leila's every life detail is described, in interesting prose, from making her coffee to walking around every moment of her life. We know everything about Leila, but we do not know these men. They are shells. To have either completely turn her life around is beyond me. Frankly she is selling herself short. But being with a generous and powerful rich guy who is addicted to you is great I am sure. If there isn't something deeper behind the characters then the sex scenes stop being interesting, I just skimmed through all of them in the second half to reach the end.
Also, Leila's meekness when she is sexually harassed at work is beyond me as well. I do not admire this. She should have stood up for her, not just because a man told her to quit. That set up means she is totally without agency, and just seems blah. She was just going to scurry around, scared about money for how long if he hadn't stepped in?
In addition Liliana's sudden character change to become a seductress is unfathomable. I don't get it.
Two stars because the writing style and much of the book is well written, but the foundation of the character development and certain plot points is a let down!
The author definitely has talent, but if I could take this one back to the drawing board for some developmental editing, I would. Then it could have potential to hit the spot. I would love a femme domme book with more meat. Do any exist??

Even though I didn't listen to the first book, I ended up enjoying Leila, Goddess: The Second Coming. The storyline is incredibly entertaining, substantial on BDSM elements, loaded with drama, steam, unexpected twists, and turns. R.J. Castille has written an intriguing but realistic tale with complex characters; I was thoroughly engrossed. I really liked Leila King, the MC, she is a poised, confidant, and an independent woman and a great domme.
Superb narration by Erin Bateman. She has a smooth and appealing voice and the perfect choice for this audiobook. Overall, this was a delightful guilty pleasure listen.
I don't know what to think about this sequel to Goddess. It took several unexpected turns. I am not happy with what direction the author took with one of the characters. I am going to have process this book for a few days to figure out why the author took the direction she did. Some parts of the story were not accurate. This sequel leaves some questions.
This was soooo good I was hooked and couldn’t put this book down!! I truly felt bad for Matthew and Gordon in this story! There was lots of steamy parts in the book! Great read!! Can’t wait for the next book!!!
I really enjoyed the direction this story took. It covered loose ends and really brought the reader along on Leila’s journey. Still, there were those ever present typos that exist in the first book which required multiple reads of a sentence to understand. Hence 4 stars only.
