Crazy jungle planet. Killer orange fungus. Crimson snakes in the water. The worst part? While I was in a coma, I seem to have acquired two dragon mates.
When I wake from my coma, the first thing I see are two hot aliens.
And I’m informed that they’re my mates.
I don’t think so.
This isn’t the story of Sleeping Beauty, and the two sexy, possessive, Draekons aren’t my fairy tale princes.
I’m certainly not going to wake up, kiss them, and live happily ever after on this stupid prison planet, where everything’s out to kill me.
Not happening.
Not even if they heal me from my injuries and nurse me back to health.
Not even if they protect me, care for me, and keep me safe.
Not even if their abs could grace the cover of every men’s fitness magazine back home.
Sleeping Beauty isn’t going to kiss her Draekons. She’s going to find a way back home.
Draekon Fire is the second book in the Dragons in Exile series. It’s a full-length, standalone science fiction dragon-shifter MFM menage romance story featuring a snarky human female, and two sexy aliens that are determined to claim their mate. (No M/M) Happily-ever-after guaranteed!

The heroine:Harper - she is one of the women who volunteered to be used in medical experiments by the Zoraht Empire in exchange for the empire giving earth the cure to cancer. She was dying in a coma for weeks until she awakens to find two Draekons who say she is their mate.
The Heroes:Dennox and Vulrux - Vulrux is a favored cousin of Arax the firstborn son of the empire. Sixty years ago, Vulrux stormed the science division to determine what they were doing on the lower levels and he found Dennox and another female being experimented on. As soon as he and Dennox saw the woman, they both changed into Dragons. Raiht'vi was an apprentice and she told the guards to Kill the female in order to get the men to change back to human. They don’t know that it was Raiht'vi and Vulrux wants revenge despite knowing that Harper is a potential mate for them.
The Story: Dennox and Vulrux have issues from their past, least of which is a mind wipe. They know of what happened sixty years ago when their mate was killed but don’t know that it was Raiht'vi that ordered the death. After that happened, they were exiled to the prison planet and now the ship carrying both Raiht'vi and their new mate, Harper crash landed on the planet and Harper gets poisoned by a fungus.
The story is told in multiple points of view by three different narrators Misty Dawn, Ry Forest & Jasper Woodcock. They did a great job and it is nice to have three narrators, though I wish it was done in duet narration or like a full cast audiobook where each narrator does their own parts no matter whose POV the chapter is in.
The writing is fine, but I just felt like I was going through the motions of reading this rather than being engaged by the story. I liked Harper's initial resistance to the whole 'fated mates' idea, but she had all the breaking strain of a soggy biscuit and soon folded. For once I want a heroine who STICKS TO HER GUNS rather than lust making her a mindless hussy who can't wait to drop her knickers.
Harper touches some fungus and falls into a coma at the end of the first book. She wakes up and finds she is being cared for by Dennox and Vulrux; her new mates! Harper fights her fate but eventually gives in.
This book can be read as a stand-alone but you’re better off reading the first. I can see the beginnings of a deeper storyline developing here which was good. There was more development of the side characters which was also good.
I liked that Harper resisted the attraction slightly more in this book, but only slightly. I liked the swimming. It was a nice quirk to Harper’s character. I also liked the lightheartedness between the three main characters. There is some low level angst which added some slight tension: The whole mind swiping and interrogation of Bierrex. But again, the sex scenes were just ok. They just felt a little bland and similar to the others. Maybe that’s just me!
If you like a dragon shifter, stranded on an alien planet, fated mate series then this has all those things. It’s just not my fav series in this genre but I will read it all!
One thing that authors do (at times) is randomly throw shit in there to make the character seem happy. For example: the ENTIRE book, as well as 3 books prior, there could be no mention of the character loving to ice skate/ she was an ice skating champion. No mention, zilch, nada, nothing. Then all of a sudden the main character is a pro skater because they figured out how to freeze a lake (or whatever)
That didn't happen here, thank God. This author was very upfront (in this book and the previous one) that this character loved to swim and almost went to nationals. The guys found this out and took her to the lake to swim and whatnot.
I did like the males, I thought they were great characters, but they didn't standout to me. She only stood out because she was a bitch for the beginning of her story, but overall they weren't memorable to me as a reader.
The story also dragged. There was a lot of jealousy of a previous mate that "never was", and the issue of mind wiping and whatnot. I think The author was trying to add in too many story lines in this one. The last one was pretty basic "ship crashes and women must survive planet", this one they added a lot into it and it just all ran together and wasn't resolved, or resolved very quickly to the point where it wasn't satisfying to the reader (or at least me).
I'm hoping the next one is a little better in terms of story layout. I'm really interested in the other batch of people to see how they differ from this group. When we met them in the first book, they seemed to have been more on the primitive side.
When you have two talented authors who know how to write a good menage, you can't go wrong. I'd recommend reading Draekon Mate, the first in the series, so you can really get a feel for their world, but these can stand alone as well. Harper wakes up to find she has not one but two dragon shifter mates. This is one really hot alien dragon shifter menage romance. They're protective of her and just want to heal Harper and make her theirs. The Prison Planet backdrop and the story line are intriguing and entertaining as well. Great cross-genre romance! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
It's Harper's turn to find her Draekon match and Dennox and Vulrux, err, well, they have a wee bit of baggage to work around before everyone ends up in their happy place.
To start with, while the other human women have had a few weeks to come to terms with being stranded on the planet with no hope of rescue, Harper's been in a fungus-induced coma and got to miss the orientation period. Which means she suddenly has a whole lot of info being thrown at her and she has a hard time processing it at first.
Meanwhile, Dennox and Vulrux had previously met a woman who was their mate and had her brutally murdered before they could become a true triad. So they're both a little shell-shocked over finding Harper. Then there's the issue of Dennox's wiped memories and the secret Vulrux learns that could affect all the human women. And the exiled Draekons, come to think.
So they have a few issues. Not insurmountable ones, but they definitely need to communicate before things can move forward. And this new information they learned? It could change things for EVERYONE. *thumbs up*
After the ship that Harper and nine other women were on was diverted and crashed to the Prison planet she is determined to help those who were injured. This finds Harper and three members of the team venturing onto the planet to secure provision when she inadvertently touches some foliage that leaves her in a coma.
Vulrux and Dennox are two of the Drakon’s that find Harper and two members of her team in trouble and come to their rescue and bring them home. Vulrux and Dennox have a past with Harper and know that she is their mate and will do whatever is necessary to ensure that the past doesn’t repeat itself.
When she awakens, she is attracted to Vulrux and Dennox but her primary concern is finding a way off the planet. Will they be able to convince her that they belong together, or will their pasts stand in their way?
Hot chemistry and witty banter combine with a few twists to make this an intriguing storyline. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought the narrators were a perfect fit for the characters they represented.
Another good read for those of us who love dragon shifters! These two at least really need to be read in order.
The book continues where Draekon Mate left off. Our heroine is still in a coma from some killer jungle fungus and her mates are trying desperately to save her. The two aliens have a history - 60 years ago they met a woman who could have been their mate [they did the dragon transformation thing] but she was killed before they even knew her name. At which point they were both shipped off to the prison planet. And now their second chance at a future is dying...
Needless to say she doesn't die but when she wakes up and is hit with the 'no rescue, we're stuck here and those two hunky guys who have been caring for you are your mates - and oh yes, they can turn into dragons' she is not onboard with it. She wants off, she wants Starbucks, she wants chocolate...
Obviously going to be a series but there are two entries as of now: Draekon Mate Draekon Fire
If the whole menage thing doesn't work for you, this is not the series for you.
Dennox and Vulrux broke my heart with their back story. They were precious with Harper, and Harper had her own growth journey. I just wish the book would have been longer so we could have seen more of the growth they went through as a triad.
Spice: 4/5
Triggers: near death experience, long term illness/coma, murder, medical experimentation (brief, mostly off page)
I finished this book hours ago and I truly cannot tell you the plot except that the heroine was poisoned and in a coma for two weeks before waking up and meeting her mates. They kinda just... fucked around as dragons.
I liked this one, but not as much as the first. I think it was the bitchy attitude of the main character. Gah...she was annoying, but this is still a fun and hot read!
Harper wakes from her coma to find out not only is she never going home, but she also has two dragon shifters who swear she’s their mate. I love how feisty she is when she tells them that even if they had magic dicks she still isn’t sleeping with them lol. Of course that promise doesn’t last long.
I just couldn't get into this couple. They had zero chemistry by 55% i just skimmed through the rest of the book. I'll past on reading the other books got a feeling they'll all be lackluster.
I almost never DNF, but I'm DNFing this from the prologue.
Recently I nabbed the complete audiobook series, Draekon Desire, on Audible for like $4. For that price, who could say no to 39+ hours of MFM dragon smut? I liked the first book (Draekon Mate) well enough to continue.
But this prologue is from the POV of a side character, a female scientist called Raiht'vi. She's participating in Nazi-type experiments on her own people. But, like, she feels conflicted about it! She's just following orders.
When two of the men see their mate, they transform into dragons. To keep the program secret and save her hide, she orders the woman shot and killed. The dragons turn back into men and are banished to a "prison planet". Again, she feels super bad, you guys.
Her sympathetic portrayal made me suspicious so I started skimming. TL;DR: the same men That's not heroic, that's the barest fücking minimum. Apparently she's a recurring character because her name appears 462 times and that's 462 times too many for me. 🤦♀️
Another good menage, alien, dragon-shifter story. Whew, they got it all in there. Harper is in a coma from touching something in the jungle that way didn't agree with her. The two aliens that are sure she is their mate, even though they did not shift when they saw her, are forced to save her with their blood. They can only hope she will forgive them for changing her genetic makeup without her consent, and that she will agree to mate with them and bring forth their dragons. They lost their last mate before they even got to really meet her and they are determined not to lose another.
The makings of a good alien romance right. This had the potential to be so much more than average, but there you have it. The chemistry was luke warm, the mystery was anticlimactic and the story dragged. The characters were likeable but nothing special. Average read.
While I enjoyed the story as a whole, I wasn't as connected to the characters as I'd like to be. For me, the story lacked some emotional depth and unpredictable conflict between the three main characters.
This is one of those books where it seems the author thinks that in order for a female to be a strong character she needs to be a total bitch. Harper was completely awful, 5 seconds after waking from a coma she was berating her "friends". This is definitely not for me.
Draekon Fire is book #2 in the Dragons in Exile erotic paranormal shapeshifter series by authors Lee Savino and Lili Zander (sci-fi alter-ego of author Tara Crescent). Just as with the first book in this series, this book hooked me from the page one, and I didn't want to put it down once I started it.
Harper Boyd is one of the ten women from Earth who's volunteered for a six-month mission to Zoraht. The Zorahns came to Earth bringing advanced technology and gifts to solve a few of Earth's many problems. While one of the gifts was a cure for leukemia, rumors abound about other gifts, much bigger gifts. The world's governments are very interested in these other gifts. But the Zorahns want something in return, volunteers to go to Zoraht for six months. And, strangely enough, all ten of the volunteers chosen are single women without close friends or family ties. It's all very mysterious. The Zorahns aren't giving up any information about why they want the volunteers or the reasons behind choosing them. Harper is a former champion swimmer and swim coach from California. She lost her job through no fault of her own. The money being offered is substantial. With no job and plenty of debt, the offer is a no-brainer for Harper.
While things initially seem simple and straightforward, it soon becomes apparent that nothing is as it seems. There are hidden agendas and motives at play of which even the Zorahns are unaware. And, all too soon, the fears of some of the women become horrific reality. Their spaceship unexpectedly crashes on an unknown planet. It seems the Zorahns have more than one secret, and this planet full of unknown dangers is one of them. As Harper and a few of her friends set out to seek provisions and shelter, Harper literally walks into a life-threatening situation. While her friends try to return with her to the downed spaceship for help, her situation becomes more and more dire. Her friends become totally lost in the jungle. Even when they're discovered and offered rescue by Dennox and Vulrux, part of a group of exiled Zorahns living on the planet, the women are terrified. The men say they can help Harper. But can they really? How? This is a primitive planet with danger around every corner just waiting to take their lives. These men are total strangers, and the women know nothing about them. They've already seen what the Zorahns are capable of doing. How can they trust total strangers when they've no idea what these strangers want? Since Viola disappeared, and they're alone and lost, they have little choice, but will they live to regret their choices? They're under the protection of the High Emperor of Zoraht. Surely a rescue is on its way. Can they hold out until that rescue arrives?
Both Lee Savino and Lili Zander (Tara Crescent) are fantastic authors. I've been a fan of both for a long time and love every book I've read by both writers. Draekon Fire is a totally enthralling erotic paranormal shapeshifter romance. I absolutely loved this book, and was riveted from the moment I started reading. It's outstanding. I give Draekon Fire my very highest recommendation. Thank you, Lee and Lili (Tara), for giving us another wonderful book that demonstrates just how excellent you both are as authors!
One final note. Please be an informed reader and consumer! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. I received this book as a gift and I am going to give my honest opinion of it. This is the second book of the series and I have to say I was just a captured by as the first book. You don’t have to read the books in order but it would help you a little to understand some of the other characters in the story. In this book Harper Boyd is in a comma. After her and her fellow passengers aboard the ship headed for the planet Zorahn crashed did not make it to its final destination. the one scientist Beirax changed the space craft’s trajectory and crashed them onto the Prison Planet. There is a comet field surrounding the planet that makes it virtually impossible to land on or to escape from. The Zorhan technician was killed and one of the women Janet was also killed. Leaving nine of the ten women left alive. Sofia, Rayanna, Harper, and Viola, head out to find food and water, while they put the rest of the injured women back into stasis. While they are walking one of them warns the others not to touch the plant life because they didn’t know what was dangerous and what was safe. At that moment though that Harper tripped and her hand landed on this pinkish orange fungus on a tree. When she tried to wipe it off it left blisters on her hand and suddenly she was feeling terrible. Sofia and Raynna decided that they are going to take her back to the ship and put her into stasis, while Viola carries on. That is where her story starts and is in book 1, now back to the other women The other Drakon’s find the women battling these awful creatures while trying to protect the unconscious Harper. They get them all back up to their mountain top before the seasons rains start and flood the low lands that they were now in. Vulrux is the healer and the Third Born of royalty. But he was fond to have the draecon gene on the day that he went to inspect the lower levels of the scientist area. There he sees a Zorhan warrior Dennox strapped to a table and next to him is a woman also strapped to a table. Instantly both of the men transform into Dragon’s meaning that the woman is their mate. Someone gives the order and the soldiers shot and kill the woman. Once she is dead both men transform back and are sent to the prison plant. Both Vurlrun and Dennox recognize Harper as their mate and can’t believe that they are given a second chance. The both of them however are still haunted by the fact that someone had ordered their first mate killed. Dennox a warrior had gone through what is called a mind sweep 18 times after each of his battles. It was to protect his mind form the things that he saw and had to do. He was worried that he may have done something horrible and that is why he was in being experimented on by the scientist. He was afraid that he would harm Harper, but both men also want to know who ordered the soldiers to kill their first mate. Raiht’vi the high scientist that was on the ship and survived helped them men to heal Harper and to save her life. But Raiht’vi is holding back secrets, a lot of them and Beirax is slightly unhinged. When Harper comes too she is shock to learn that these two fine looking men are claiming to be her mates. She has a lot to learn about this new way of life and about these men. Doubts arise at times, and uncertainties, towards the end it is a world wind of evets that take place. It is really exciting at the same time thrilling. This is really a great book.
The story continues in this amazing series, with sexy alien men that have been banished to a prison planet because they carry a mutated gene where they are Draekon, in other words, they can shift to dragons. The Zorahn are wanting Earth women to aid in their secret experimentation but convince Earth’s government that it is a temporary six-month stent, and ten women will be on the first shuttle. “You represent the first step in an alliance that we hope will span generations.” “We’re glorified lab rats.”
It is discovered that the crash on the planet was part of a plan devised by Beirax, but with an attempted override by Raiht’vi. The scientist is hoping that human females will be able to mate with Draekon men exiled. After the landing, Harper Boyd will touch fungi that will poison her body, shutting it down and placing her in a coma. Raiht’vi suggest cutting Harper’s palm, and the two alien men who consider her their mate, to do likewise and allow their blood to help heal her.
The fourteen exiled aliens, along with the two aliens from Zorahn, and the four woman from earth will have to seek higher ground to live during the raining season. They have houses and a central location for eating and communal time. The rain isn’t gentle; it is a heavy, non-stop deluge that will happen for three months.
The plot will have Harper coming out of her coma, and two men who want to claim her for their triad, as their mate, Dennox and Vulrux. One was an elite soldier until he was captured and exiled, the other part of the highborn lineage. It is decided that Harper is in control of how their relationship progresses and whether the mating bond will happen.
The story will have Dennox, who was a warrior, one who has had his memory wiped clean eighteen times, needing to know more of his past, wanting to be sure he would not cause harm to Harper. Slowly bits and pieces of his memory return, along with a realization of who Raiht’vi really is. Vulrux is a cousin to Arax and was studying to be a healer. For the sake of pair-bond and mate, he will try to glean information from the Zorahn scientist.
The story will take on some life and death situations, intense moments, flashbacks, along with acceptance of the past. For Harper, she must decide what her future holds for her. Her past left her empty, and she has a chance for a future with not one, but two sexy dragons who both want her and show her how much they truly care. But, is she who they really want, or are they still mourning for their mate that was killed before they could claim her? Justice will be decided by allowing the victims to help pass sentence on the guilty parties. They are something worse than death, isolation, and banishment.
The story has plenty of passion, angst, sexual chemistry and explicit sex scenes between a human woman and her two hottie dragons. This is an ongoing series, and each story will read as a standalone. In the next book, maybe we will learn more about the five human females that were taken captive by another Draekon group.

This was a very complex, though intriguing story, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. All the different twists and turns made for an exciting narrative.
60-years ago the Scientists’ guards turned their weapons on Vulrux and Dennox’s first mate; as a result they killed her and then exiled the two men to the Prison Planet; Vulrux has vowed to find the culprit. But staying stuck in the past solves nothing. In Harper, Vulrux and Dennox have found a second mate, but Harper is dying from a poisonous fungus; the only way to save her life is for Vulrux and Dennox to pass on their immunity to her. Through no fault of her own, Harper and her friends crash-landed on the Prison Planet, along with two people who might know the truth about Vulrux and Dennox’s first mate; the scientists Raiht’vi and Beirax. Owing to inclement weather, a search for those stolen by another Draekon exile batch is difficult. When Harper makes a full recovery, she finds it difficult to comprehend her current situation and is defiant; but Vulrux and Dennox make it clear they will not claim her without her consent. Harper likes having choices, not people planning her life for her. Vulrux and Dennox had a mate in the past, but she was killed before the bond could be completed and Harper is their second chance; but she doesn’t feel the call of the mating bond the way Vulrux and Dennox do. Dennox’s memory is fragmented as a result of the Zoraken mind-wipes; he believes that he must have done something terrible for the Zoraken’s to give him over as a prisoner to the Scientists; is he a monster? Until he knows he cannot claim Harper. Beirax’s actions have led to the death of two people, but if he had not crashed the Zorahn spaceship on the Prison Planet, Vulrux and Dennox would not have met their mate Harper. But Vulrux needs answers, for Dennox’s sake as well as his, and he intends to get them by interrogating Beirax. What Vulrux learns from Beirax has fair reaching consequences and their conversation changes everything. As Dennox starts to get more memories, will he eventually remember how he ended up at the Crimson Citadel. Dennox wants to be certain he is not a monster and Vulrux just wants to know so he can get closure on the past. Vulrux and Dennox have never talked to Harper about their first mate, ever; now Dennox doesn’t want to talk about his memories. What if they have never gotten over their first mate? And what is there might even be a way off the Prison Planet? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Thrilling Episode of this Exceptional Alien-mate series with danger, humor and romance!!
Loved the first in the series – this one is even better!!
Harper Boyd is our leading lady, and she goes into a coma after coming in contact with killer orange fungus. While the other Earth women have time to come to grips with their situation o this planet; Harper wakes to not only a “no rescue” situation, but two giant alien males who claim to be her mates. Eep!
The Draekons Dennox and Vulrux; soldier and healer respectively; have watched one mate killed before they really meet her; they will not allow this mate to be harmed. They provide their blood to allow Harper to heal enough to wake. Now they must court her as they are compelled to spend their waking hours together by their leader – he needs the strength of their dragons that will emerge if they bond.
This is where the fun begins: “I’d expected tears and pouting from the human woman when she heard the Firstborn’s pronouncement. Instead, I get defiance. Defiance is better. Much better. Defiance is interesting.”
“Oh, who am I kidding? I’m attracted to them. It’s super-annoying. I mean, newborn kittens are probably stronger than me. I’m still recovering from a coma, and I’m lusting after the first two guys I see when I woke up?”
“How exciting” I say dryly. “Is there a feast? Has the tribe sacrificed a unicorn for my recovery?” His eyes are amused. Evidently, these aliens can decipher sarcasm. Oops.”
The interplay between these characters is alternately humorous and scintillating; making for a highly entertaining read. There is also an excellent storyline; revelations, intrigue, additional human women to rescue from another Draekon tribe and basic survival in this dangerous environment. I highly recommend this series!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Picks up where book 1 left off - Great storyline, characters & sexy alien dragon shifters, need I say more?!
This book starts where book 1 left off, and while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend that you read the first story before you begin. So that you understand what happened before and after the ship from Earth crashed, what it means when mates meet for the first time, and the questions any newly-formed triad faces.
This begins around the time Harper is awakening from a coma after her brush against an orange fungus in book 1. She has been in a coma for about 2 weeks, and while she has drank fluids, she hasn't eaten and it is showing, as she is starting to waste away. One of the medical techs that was on the ship from Earth gets tired of seeing the heroine struggle to survive so she cuts Harper's hand so her mates are forced to watch her bleed out in her weakened state, or blood bond with her to potentially save her life.
Both of the Heroes lost a mate before when she was murdered after they shifted into their dragon form when the entire triad met inside the Citadel. The only way the scientist could get them to shift back was to order the guards to shoot the female. Fast forward 60 years and now they have another potential mate in Harper and they are not going to let her die if they can prevent it. So they complete the blood bond and hope that whatever Draekon mutations Harper gets from it, that they don't hasten her demise.
I don't want to accidentally provide any spoilers or twists, so I am going to stop there. This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it if you like hot, hunky, sexy alien stories. I am slowly making my way through the series, but so far the first two books didn't disappoint!!
