Anais Blue, the teenage witch trapped in a five-year-old's body, is back and she's on a mission - to fix her promptuary, the essential spell book every good witch needs. The story carries on from where Complicated Blue left off, and once again the reader becomes embroiled in Anais's adventures as she travels about in enchanted cars and a supernatural locomotive, helping lost shades on the way and coming across characters who enrich both her life and ours.
I love reading the Anais Blue books, they look at the witching world in a different way and aren't about broomsticks, wands and black cats. Full of wry, witty observations on people and life that will have you reluctantly nodding in agreement or laughing out loud at their perceptive truthfulness, these books take you on a fun journey of self-discovery through the eyes of a teenage witch. Well-written and well-edited, I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to leave the stress of the real world behind and lose themselves in this magical story. I can't wait for the next instalment!

I love that this book continues where 'Complicated Blue' left off. Anais is having quite a time. She now has 3 shades she needs to help, a promptuary that's on the fritz, the Inquisitor is back, and magic cars that drive themselves. Anais is on an adventure, with no permanent home since her's burned down, and keeping an eye out for the Inquisitor who somehow always finds her. What's a young witch to do? I love the descriptions that allow me to picture in my head, all that she experiences. What an interesting life Anais experiences. You'll never guess the identity of one of the shades! I found myself rooting for Anais throughout the story. This is an interesting tale that will have you turning pages to find out what's next for Anais.

I loved this book. Just like the first in the series, it is a well-written, engaging, entertaining read. The Promptuary continues with the fascinating story of witch Anaïs Blue and her band of bizarre friends - in some ways reminding me of the Wizard of Oz. What could be a very confusing premise is perfectly balanced by interesting and explanatory sections, somehow grounding the story in what feels like reality (but obviously is not). An excellent book, and one I could not put down!

This series is so unique and entertaining. A nonwitch (a natural) is telling the reader what’s true and false about most people’s belief about witches. This person let’s us know that he or she must tell us before it is all forgotten. Then we jump to Anais Blue, the teenage witch in a child’s body and learn about her purpose and development as a witch. I particularly enjoy the wisdom the author passes along to us as Anais deals with shades (ghosts) of well known celebrities. You won’t believe which ones show up in this story. Great fun!

A very enjoyable book.
Anaïs has to face life without Nan and her promptuary isn't working. It needs repair.This leads Anaïs on a strange path to Italy where the repair can be made. The story is interspersed with interesting tidbits about witches, shades and life in general with a few chuckles thrown in here and there for good measure.
