WILD CHILD: MY RATCHET DAUGHTER

Rate this book
When Keisha Jackson turned eighteen she thought she knew everything, ignoring her mothers wise words. After school fights, talking back, sneaking in late, thug boyfriends, finding her daughter having unprotected sex and even a night as a stripper, her mother has had enough.

Keisha is cast out into the cold and unfeeling world to learn to become a woman. Moving in with her up to no good friend Montana, she embarks on a journey that takes her from hell and back. Along the way she encounters domestic violence, destructive relationships, emotional abuse, manipulation, bizarre sexual encounters, prostitution and the world’s most appealing pimp. Just before Keisha hit’s rock bottom everything changes.

Will she continue in her illegal ways? Will she ever find a stable relationship? Will an absent father be cast aside or be a saving grace? Will a mother who is aware of her activity disown her? Will she ever be truly happy? Will she ever find love?

These questions and more are answered in Wild Child, a novel that not only documents the life of a black girl lost, but gives her perspective on how to change. The author is quoted as saying, “No one ever loves the black girl lost in our literature. I wanted to show love to the underdog, because that is not only what the main character is, but what I am. I wanted to write a book that show’s no matter what hell you go through you can turn your life around.” A MUST READ!!!

Fairytale at best

This book had some encouraging words, inspirational even.. So for that reason it got an extra 🌟than what I initially wanted to give it.
Loose the "strong black woman". The "black woman is God", "the mother of all civilization" complex , because none of it is true.. It gives most "black women" that. . I don't need a man syndrome.

Phenomenal Read!

A very awesome book written from a street perspective that really takes the reader through the journey of how our minds are trained, from birth, to think less than of ourselves. An inspiration to others, Keisha is able to break from the chains of poverty lines thinking and set herself free.

Loved it....

This was an amazing read. Someone finally wrote a RAGS TO RICHES sort of book about an African-American. There's a little bit of Keisha in all of us. Rebellious, attitude, hard-headed, father issues. Some find their way... Some don't. Hurray for Keisha and the many other Keisha's out there.

Great story told!!!

I loved the story. It was very interesting and told of true instances of the lives of people who are brought up in the hood. Its never too late to improve yourself. Although this book had many grammatical errors, it was worth the read

Important read

I loved the book for what it was. More young women and men need this message. The main character was a lot to handle, but you see her growth throughout the book. I love Vincent's work.

An interesting read

An interesting read that would be been so much better if the author didn't narrated it and just let the story unfold by itself instead of telling us what's going to happen

Powerful book

l wish more young women could read this book, you touch on every detail in the hood. It doesn't matter if you got money or married into money. All money is not good money and money can't buy you class!

Great message

I enjoyed reading this book. I am glad that Keisha evolved into a mature woman. Even though she went through many tribulations, she did not give up. She persevered through it and became stronger.

Great eye opener!

This book really hit home in most of the black communities. This book had my emotions all over the place but it hit on some important and awesome topics most are scared to talk about. I will encourage everyone to read this book! I truly can say I loved this book!

Well put

It's not always about where we start, but more about where we end. Life can sometimes seem bleak, but we must strive for better for the struggle is real.
