Anansi "I look around when I came in and I thought, 'Where's the rest of us?' And then I thought, just because we are few and they are many, we are weak and they are powerful ... it does not mean that we are lost."
The graphic novel adaptation of American Gods. Shadows 6/9: Love the writing and exposition by Gaiman but the art is a little flat and lets down the storytelling. In this issue Mr. Nancy tells a fun tale with a moral, Wednesday tries to rally other Gods to fight and Shadow is kidnapped.
Managed to conflate this issue with the last as I read them back to back. THIS is the issue in which the Gods reveal themselves to Shadow and it's awesome! Really liked the art in this one, especially the use of blue/white for Mr Nancy's warm up story. I can't say that I'm that fussed on Laura - less so here than the tv series... and I really need to get at the novel! Once again, I did find myself thinking that reading the individual comics is less satisfying than waiting for the graphic novel, but at least with this series, things do happen in each issue.
I was so excited for this one, because FINALLY A LOOK AT THE GODS but Odin's reveal was kind of a let down. The art style didn't do it for me, and at the very least his full page panel could have been on a page turn to at least give a slight bit of excitement. Probably my least favorite issue so far.
