Southern Syfy has arrived in this “Dukes of Hazzard meets Buck Rogers” adventure tale.
In a future spawned from the headlines of today, enter a world of contrasts, where Man has conquered the heavens, while at the same time becoming quickly obsolete on his own world. A world where science and technology brings exotic fantasy creatures to life … for the right price. Where hot rod rockets and redneck “spacers” rule the skies.
Tiger Thomas was a rocket pilot during the Great Space Rush, when humankind colonized the Solar System in the twenty-second century. Now, all that’s winding down, and so has the demand for old spacers like him. He makes a living now doing whatever jobs he can find, legal and otherwise.
Returning to his hometown of Huntsville, Tiger looks forward to a relaxing weekend back on Earth. Who knows, he might even re-kindle that old flame with Lulah Carter, "the one that got away" years ago. A dinner and dancing ... who knows what might happen.
But when he rescues a genetically engineered, anthropomorphic fox girl from a clan of vicious, hillbilly thugs, his homecoming quickly turns sour.
Somebody wants this sexy, furry darling back. BAD! And they’ll do whatever it takes, including killing anyone who stands in their way. Tiger and newfound companion soon find themselves on the run from a deadly, high-tech unit of bounty hunters. And if that ain’t bad enough, revelations about this beautiful vixen starts to disturb him. Is she really a victim? Is there more to her than just a pretty face and a bushy tail? Is there something else? A part hidden and dangerous, waiting for the right time to manifest itself? And with all that to ponder on, there's also one other small problem ... he finds himself irresistibly attracted to her.
Oh, and then there’s that whole Lulah thing again. As if things weren’t complicated enough.

There were some really great scenes in this book. Unfortunately, they were buried between a lot of really bad ones. Set 200 years in the future, but culturally, nothing has evolved. There were many stereotypical characters from the 1980s of the worst type, with limited redeeming qualities.
However, the foxy lady was intriguing, as were a couple of the good guys. Some of the sex scenes were hot, and the various methods of escaping the bad guys were creative.
Oddly, I care enough about these characters to read the next story, but at least I know what I'm getting into.
I rather liked this book. It has a very down south good ol boy feel to it. At the same time, it is set WAY in the future. With that said, there are a lot of political references, as well as a LOT of fighting (there's a LOT of fighting.........like, a LOT.) The characters are pretty believable and fleshed out that I'm almost positive that each of them could prob have a book written about them and it would be enjoyable to read.
Plot: Story is set in the future where corporations do what corporations do. Try and successfully take over everything. Corps pretty much rule earth and has made it so that there are 3 classes. The Uber rich, people leaving earth, and the uber poor. On top of that, Corp's are constantly trying to figure out ways to cut corners, so they have made it so that robots do most of the work, and now they are crossing into gene splicing people and animals together. This story tells of a one such gene spliced female and a down on his luck but heart of gold guy.
Tanner “Tiger” Thomas is a true space cowboy. After his latest job in deep space is over he is returning to his hometown of Huntsville for some much-needed R&R. Nothing like returning to your roots and reminiscing on all that could have been. It’s time for a little let loose fun and a hopeful tryst with the woman he will always love, “Tallulah Carter.” He just has to attend to some business now that he is on terra firma.
First order of business is heading down to Blackwater to meet his long-time friend Odelle “Cutter” Hawkins. When Gideon, Junior and Rayford Tuttle happen upon the GenetX truck with two armed drivers all they see is dollar signs. They weren’t expecting a genetically engineered anthropomorphic sexy fox girl. Fighting for her life she attempts to claw her way to safety, but these hillbilly thugs have some disturbing plans in mind. Her whimpers and struggle don’t go unheard, but patrons of the shady club walk by without offering help. Tiger’s southern cowboy bleeding heart would never allow him to walk past a person in need.
This encounter puts him in the crosshairs of the much-reviled Gideon Tuttle and his sons Rayford and Junior. After a full-on confrontation the Tuttle’s learn that there is more than meets the eye when dealing with this old spacer. Tiger is walking away with the “girl” and the glory, with Cutter at the ready to assist in any way that he can. Tiger never expected that this little vixen would have such a powerful hold on him, but he finds himself launched into an all-out adventure and an unexpected erotic affair. Looking for a way out with a troop of ASA agents lighting a fire under him Tiger calls in his genius friend Jocko to help expose who exactly they are dealing with. In doing this they crack open more then they asked for. Jocko is in full blown security mode and the two friends and Amber the sexy fox girl are in full fugitive mode.
There is so much more to Amber than just being some rich guys sex toy. Feelings that she does not understand are beginning to surface and Tiger is left questioning what it all means. Forrest Frost recovery agent and bounty hunter is hot on their trail and hard up on catching them after a few hit and misses. This has become personal and Tiger and his newfound companions are in a dangerous position.
I don’t read much Syfy, but this book had me under the influence. Maybe Amber’s pheromones leapt out of the pages and into the mind of the readers? There was something unique and authentic about the steamy scenes that was incomparable to anything that I have ever read. The writer really made you drink in the story. The characters were well built and the storyline with all it’s futuristic technological pretties was perfectly drawn out. I can’t believe that it was left on such a cliffhanger and I am going to be anticipating the next book.
This was my first book from this author, and wow what a crazy ride! This amazing scifi book, is set in the distant future, with space travel as the normal. We meet our southern hero Tiger, a semi retired deep space pilot, who is not adverse to doing a little smuggling to make a dollar. Coming home from his last little smuggling in deep space for a bit of rest, relaxation and to reconnect with his former love. Tiger became a hero by saving a young woman's life, but she was not your round of the house typical women. Realising that helping her is getting him deeper in trouble, he makes the decision that he cannot abandon her to fend for herself. There's amazing gun battles, fight scenes, bounty hunters who seek to take the woman he had saved. Tiger discovers dangerous secrets along the way, and let's not forget a crazy hillbilly family determined to hurt, kill anyone who gets in there way of getting back this woman and seek revenge. Loved this book and look forward to reading more from this author! 💚
New to me author. I'm not new to sci-fi romance and this was probably closer to sci-fi than romance even though there was sex and other aspects. Tiger was a bit of a "dog" if you know what I mean but he was a nice guy for the most part. This is different from what I've read before which is good because more of the same is boring. Sometimes the dialogue got a bit much and kinda lost a little of the story for me. I didn't love the rape scene of our poor fox though. A warning needed to happen there. So it's not something I can read again. Personal reasons which for people sensitive to those kinds of things I need to be forewarned. Overall an ok read. It doesn't end on HEA but a for now. It's not finished I don't think though.
original review posted to Amazon on 7/28/2019. Well J Morgan did it again! The book had me laughing out loud. The Characters are undeniably real and the emotions a person goes thru while reading are real. It will make you think about what should turn you on and what actually does. Although futuristic in a lot of ways the southern references make the story even more real. Tiger and Lulah are torn and can't quite figure out how they really belong at one point, but the history and feelings they have make everything seem right. It will make you think twice about how life should turn out. Who you choose to love. Who you want to love and why you sometimes can't always get what you want. Amber is an unexpected and arousing addition to his life and his heart takes on a few unknown twists because of her. This book will make you FEEL! You will want to know every single detail and may even have to go back and re-read some parts to really understand what's happening at some points. So don't start this unless you're committed because you won't be able to put it down until it's done. I can't wait for the next one to see how the story continues. Thank you J Morgan for your incredible writing!!
I did not know what to expect from this story. I knew two things sci-fi and southern aspect was involved. The story does not focus on one specific character perspective but everyone to embrace the entire scope of the story. I do like that after a minor mental adjustment. Hearing the characters thoughts gives the reader a clearer understanding. I did joke about the chapters being long and now I know why. Although long winded on explaining the rockets and all the high tech common to this world, it was a necessary evil. My eyes did glaze a bit and my mind is go numb trying to imagine this alternate future. I loved the references. A lot of great lines I highlighted in my Kindle. A worthy story once I got past the world creation. I did rate it a 5 star although my copy had grammar and punctuation errors that is readily corrected with a reread.
Not really a reader of sci-fi books but I really liked this one. It’s set in the future but Tanner “Tiger” portrays a good old southern boy in a time full of technology. I really enjoyed his time of reminiscing about the moments he had with his father and uncle. I also enjoy the aspect of half human half animal hybrid characters as it adds a flair to the story that I obviously don’t get when reading regular romance/erotic novels. There are a lot of political references, disdain for higher society, and of course lots of action haha. I’ll definitely be looking into more books in this genre as my interest has been sparked. :)
What's not to love? Tiger is a pilot who is trying to save a woman who is a half fox lab experiment. The people that created her now want her dead. I loved all the futuristic details, the author's take on our world way into the future. Since it is so futuristic, you will see alot of political references but the author is setting the scene for a new world. I really enjoyed all the action and chemistry between the characters. I need the second book immediately!!!
Climb aboard and buckle up for this amazingly sexy, non-stop action, crazy ass ride through the universe with pilot Tiger Thomas as he tries to save Amber, a half human, half fox lab experiment from the people who created her and now want to kill her. Definitely a must read and I am waiting very impatiently for book number 2!!!!
I really like this one by J Morgan Woodall. I normally have issues with some intergalactic space novels. However this was not the case with this book. I did on my part get off to a slow start, that went away quickly. I enjoyed the book immensely. The characters are really great, so vibrant.
Well written action & adventure. Sad though too. Thinking about our world nearly two hundred years away. Still full of so much backwards wrong thinking. Corruption at all levels so empowered. Depressing perspective.
This book has everything!! It is a well written, detailed futuristic, science fiction story that also contains some pretty hot encounters amongst the characters. I recommend this to everyone even if not your normal genre.
'Spacer' Tiger Thomas was just planning on a quiet weekend, but a surprise fell in his lap. The little fox is grateful for his rescue. Lulah Carter, Tiger's old flame, is hoping to get together with him. Things don't go as planned when hires guns chase after the fox and Tiger.
This was an amazing book. Not my usual type of book but it took hold of me and I couldn't put it down. All the suspense and twists kept me fasinated and intrigued. Can't wait for more. Well done J Morgan Woodalls
I really enjoyed this book. I love the future setting and what the Earth may actually be like someday. I loved Tiger, the main character, and his friends! This author has created a future but with throwbacks to the past which I really loved. The ending was great. Can't wait to read the next book!
This is the second book I have read by this author, and is a different style to his first undertaking.
This is a great scifi romp, set in the not so far distant future, space travel has become the norm and deep space pilots are off world for long periods of time. We meet our southern hero Tiger, a semi retired deep space pilot, who is not adverse to doing a little smuggling to make a dollar. Coming home from his last little smuggling sojourn in deep space for a bit of R&R, and to reconnect with his former love Lulah.
We then find our hero getting sidetracked, doing the gentlemanly thing, saving a young woman's life, but she is not your typical young woman, realising that helping her is getting him deeper in trouble, he makes the decision that he cannot abandon her to fend for herself. So then the fun begins, extremely good gun fight scenes, as bounty hunters seek to take the woman away. Tiger discovers dangerous secrets, unexpected helpers and crazy hillbillies determined to harm the girl and anyone else in the way.
Well written, interesting characters, very likeable main characters, both the good guys and some bad guys, and a few you really really dislike. All in all a good read, bit of fun, with some surprising twists and turns, that make for a great adventure. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. If you like a bit of scifi adventure with a healthy dose of Eroticism, I thoroughly recommend it.
SciFi is not a genre I usually read, but I decided to step outside of my norm and give this book a chance after enjoying other books by this author. I wasn't disappointed. His trademark attention to detail and ability to paint a picture so vivid that you feel like you're a part of the story made this futuristic book seem real. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series as well as other titles from this author.
