This book is my second read by this author, and it was an enjoyable action packed story. It is not my usual read as it is a medieval era book with magic and sorcery involved, but I do loved it. As a second book in a series, it can be read as a standalone but I do think read the previous might give some more insight. The author took time to explain the historical and political ins and outs, I’m no historian so I can not tell with is from fact and from the author’s mind, but it was perfectly crafted, as for the descriptions of the magical world and its way of working. Rosalynde is one courageous woman, she took matter in hands in order to protect her sisters but also save her country. She is kind and ready to sacrifice even her happiness if it means saving her kin. Giles has to fight his way in life, having a frail constitution until he reached his adult age but he took profit of his change of health to harden his body and nourish his brains. They were perfect together and for another. My heart arched too for Wilhelm and his loss, I do hope the author will give him his story and a second chance at love. Now I wonder whose sister’s story will be next. My only complain is even I do not like my reads on the erotica side, some steam is rather welcome, but here I had all the premises but nothing else once their reached the bedroom. A 4.5 rates because the absence of a real sensual scene.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 Wilhelm , who’s illegitimate, returns to his fathers property to find it burnt to the ground . Morgana's daughter are plotting against her and Rosalynde escapes London dressed as a nun , on Giles’ horse , she takes her mothers priceless book with her .The brothers pursue The nun , when they find her the fun starts . A really good adventure in a fantasy/ real life setting . In the time of King Stephen . I enjoyed the book and found it quite addictive to read , not wanting to leave it . He’s quite fallen for her blue eyes knowing there’s more to her than meets the eye. He sees there’s a spark of brilliance behind those chameleon eyes, the face he encounter in his dreams of her. A great story weaved into history of England of witches and wizards, magic untold and the woman who decide their own fate. I loved Giles and Rose together, they’re kindred souls have been searching for each other. Life, love and happiness will be theirs if they’re strong enough to embrace their love. I have been reading Tanya Anne Crosby for over twenty-five years and I am always exhilarated and jumping for joy! As she did it again creating another enchanting story that I got swept away in! A book her fans have been patiently waiting for! Especially after The King’s Favorite, the debut of “The Daughters of Avalon” series. This book is another captivating, page turning, action packed, riveting, magical, romantic adventure from start to finish. As Tanya Anne Crosby pens another winner that readers will absolutely love! I can’t wait for next installment in the “Daughters of Avalon series titled “Fire Song”!
I was gifted this ARC from the author. I voluntarily agreed to read, give honest review and blog this book. All opinions, ideas, words and thoughts are my own.
A Winter's Rose Daughter’s of Avalon book 3 by Tanya Anne Crosby
Rosalynde is the youngest daughter of the wicked Morwen Pendragon, she means to rule England by using her daughters as pawns. After Elspeth’s defiance and marrying Malcolm Scott (The King’s Favorite book 1) Rose knows that their only hope of defeating their evil mother lies in her escaping, with their mother’s spell book, it’s a race against time before her mother realizes she’s gone. Her sisters depend on her. Disguised as a nun she sets of to get help, never expecting that her fate will be sealed.
Gilles de Verre is on his way to meet the woman that the king has chosen for him as his wife. In return he gets to rebuild his home that was destroyed. Gilles will do what is necessary but the fates have other plans when he meets Rose “the nun” . Looks are deceiving and not everything is as it seems, and he’s falling for the wrong sister.
A fast paced action packed page turner! This reader was kept on the edge of her seat while the events played out. I loved Gilles and Rose they complimented each other beautifully. Villains, intrigue a dragon make this another EPIC read! Tanya Anne Crosby has woven together a memorable romance with a magical twist. I can’t wait to read the next one!
I recieved a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
As Wilhelm returns home he saw it in ruins burnt to the ground. His brother Giles was called from the seminary to inherit the lands. Giles was made Earl but was to return in six months to take his bride Seren. Rosalynde left her sisters Seren and Arwen to take a book of spells to her sister Elspeth for safety reasons. Rose and her sisters did good magic but their mother did bad magic. Giles horse was stolen but on their way home the horse and Rose was discovered. Giles and Rose fell in love on the way to Elspeth’s and married.
Wow what a great book this is, it is fast paced, action packed and magical, Rose is running from her mothers machinations, she wants her to marry one of King Stephen's minions and to escape that fate and help her sisters she steals her mothers spell book and disguises herself as a nun. Gilles de Verre is on his way to marry Rose's sister by order of the King, when he meets a nun, not realising who she is the fates have a hand in what comes next. I can honestly say this will have you on the edge of your seat, well it did me anyway.
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
Rosalynde, realizing just how evil her mother has become, makes a very fateful decision. Stealing away, with more than just her life, she journeys to find her sister. Expecting to serve the church, Giles is surprised when the King not only proclaims him and Earl, but also betroths him to Seren. Morwen is incensed at the betrothal and requests the King delay the wedding. Rosalynde and Giles meet, through very interesting circumstances, form a truce and a lifelong bond. The story twists keep your attention and sets the premise for the next book in the series.
Don't miss this series. It follows the story of sisters trying to outwit their cruel, wicked mother. Rosalynde's story is the second in the series. This is a very intricate, intriguing story that keeps you reading into the night. Rose has secrets, as does Giles, but if they can accept these, they can work together for the same cause. Highly recommend.
This book is about one person willing to risk her life to fight against evil. It is also a love story about two people who have to learn to trust each other. This is the second book in this series but it seems to me that most of Tanya's books are related. I have enjoyed reading everyone of her books that I have read.
Giles is released from his betrothal to Seren after she disappears from the Castle by the King after a thorough search has turned up nothing of her and her sister. Sister Rose who stole Giles horse to escape her evil Witch mother with the Book of Spells is discovered by Giles and he agrees to help her get to Elspeth the oldest sister who is safely away from their mother. While on their journey they fall madly in love and he asks her to marry him. He is her Champion in every way. While on this trip her mother's evil familiar attacks Rose, but with the Sword given Giles by his Religious Order and the book of Spells the Shadowmonster is destroyed. The curious thing is after the destruction of the monster nothing else is heard from her mother. This worried Rose with her not knowing when her mother will strike next.
Wow! I can seriously say I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book Fire Song. We now have had Elspeth and Rosalynde and their champions. Each book just pulls you in lock and barrel. Lol! Tanya Crosby always delivers with enchanting and thrilling tales but this series has just soared. Being a spin off the Highland Brides series Tanya Crosby has developed it to a whole new level. Full of laughter, suspense and romance this series has it all. You don't want to stop reading but at the same time not wanting to come to the end. I know once this series is complete I am going to go back to the very start of all these wonderful characters we have come to know and love and read each one straight through till The very end of the very last book. This is a must must series to read!
This was a difficult book for me. I have so enjoyed all of these stories and really waited for this one, but it was so packed with history I had trouble following the story. I hope the next one picks up more in the storyline. And I never thought I'd say too much history, but it made for a dry read to me anyway! That being said, it was still very well written, with descriptions of everything magical! And the sword! Can't wait to read more!
Rosalynde Pendragon steals her mothers spell book and disguises herself as a nun to escape her evil mother. She has to get the spell book to her sister to hide it so that their mother will never find it. Giles de Vere in order to keep his lands is ordered by the king to marry Seren one of Rosalynde’s sisters. On his way back to his lands he comes across Rosalynde sleeping in the woods. There is something about Rosalynde that Giles is drawn to. He agrees to help her find her way to The priory where she is headed, but something about the nun is not right. During their travels Giles becomes Rosalynde’s champion and falls for a woman he cannot have. This is the second book in the Daughters of Avalon series, but also a stand alone book. I loved the first one and loved this one. I loved how Tanya Anne Crosby mixed witches, magic, and romance and made you believe! Yes I love this series and loved this book. 5 Stars! Definitely recommend this one!
\\\\\ 2.5 \\\\\ I did read this book in French and if I'm being honest, I am not sure if part of what annoyed me comes from the translation or if I would have felt the same reading it in English. Also, I might have started this series with book 2. So... to sum-up right at the start: don't trust this review (at least I'm honest).
I was super intrigued by the story and I read this one pretty fast so usually it is a good sign. I still had stuff that made me angry or annoyed me throughout my reading. One thing that I had trouble with was the fact that most of the story was "in the past", if it makes sense. Instead of things happening right now, people were often in their heads thinking about what had previously happened and how it could impact the future.. which felt to me like lots of info dumps and also felt like not much was happening at all. So yeah that was hard on me.
Reading this one in French made me understand why people say some words make them cringe... It has honestly never happened to me in English but I've now unlocked a cringe word in French: "verge". Seriously, if someone says that IRL, imma throw up. And for someone with such a ready "verge", the spice was really disappointing. They kept thinking about it in their heads but when it came to it, it was like it got cut out of the book.. like, WHY once again was it all in their heads instead of really showing it with actions?
I'm also a little worried about Will because they made him sound like a big stupid guy and I wonder how he will succeed in making me swoon in the next book.. I have my doubts... and it is stressing me.. like will his personality change completely? Because that is still bad.. but well, I'm not focused, let's not think about that in this review.
The story was super intriguing and I honestly was looking forward to my reading though, so I really have intense mixed feelings here. The whole hidden identity part was so good too and fun because of Giles fighting this weird attraction. I'm really curious about the next book since I have it in English, I will definitely read it and update. And yes, my bad that I started with book 2, I thought those were kind of a series of standalones but I feel like it's definitely best read in order. Sadly for me I only miss the first book haha so I'll probably continue from there.
Files and Rose come to grips with the weight of the evil that lives with the British Royal inner circle. Their love transcends this scourge but with increasing danger to each other, her sisters and their champions known and as of yet unknown. You will not regret reading this series. This book so far my favorite. What one might be yours?
Rosalynde Pendragon is descended from a long line of witches. Unfortunately her mother is very wicked and uses the foulest of all magic. Rose and her sisters are doing all they can to put a stop to the problems her mother can cause for the whole of the realm. After his whole family is wiped out Giles de Vere is forced to leave the seminary to claim his family's lands from the Crown. These are dark times in Britain with a wicked witch so close to the King. Our heroine and her sisters have a lot of danger to face, most of it from their mother. Does our gifted hero have the strength to be her Champion. Lots of adventure and magical characters. This is part of a series but each book can be read alone. I loved it.
This is Rose, the youngest sister's story. She's stolen her evil mother's grimoire & is on the run. The horse she steals to make her get away turns out to be her champion's animal.
Giles has been away from home for years studying to be a priest. Actually he's been training to be a champion for the holy church. He's summoned home when everyone he loves, except for one half brother, is slaughtered. His home burned to the ground.
This was not quite as good as the first story, but it was all right. Elspeth & Malcolm from the first book make an appearance. The ending is rather abrupt & it seems this whole book was a set up for the next story.
If you love King Arthur and tales of Avalon, you’ll enjoy this series of books
The events take place well after King Arthur’s death and that’s makes the books even more enjoyable than Marion Zimmers Bradley’s series about Avalon and the Lady of the Lake. It isn’t fair to do a side by side comparison, because the writing styles are very different. I enjoyed the books none the less. I’m looking forward to reading the third books so I can find out what is going to happen to me next sister.
Rosalynde steals her mother's grimoire and heads north in disguise to find her oldest sister. She and her sisters are descendants of Talesin, Welsh bard and wizard. She runs into Giles de Vere, the man who is supposed to wed her sister Seren by arrangement of her mother. He doesn't recognize her under her glamour, but aids her in her journey. Gradually, they learn to trust each other and fall in love. They still need to defeat her mother, the witch Morwen, but this is another good addition to that story.
Rose and Giles. A witch and a witch hunter. Rose is a good which, a healer. Giles is a witch hunter for the church. He carries a magic sword that glows when evil is near. He becomes Rose’s champions day helps her reach her sister. They want a future together but is betrothed to another by no choice of his own. But fate has her own way of working things out in spite of the evil threatening them. This is a fabulous story.
OK, I get it. These are definitely romances with all the acessories. Princes, saviors, clothes, love triangles, etc. Still a good story and exactly right for the moment. I do not recommend them to anyone who wants a serious piece of literature.
Rosalynde, runs away from her mother Morwen and takes the Grimoir, the books of witches incantations. She meets a prince, falls in love, etc. etc.
I am enjoying this series immensely! I can't wait for the next installment. The beautiful Pendragon sisters encounter many years locked in a room by their own mother. When each one manages to escape one by one they come in contact with many encounters along the way that tests their will and fortitude . If you like intrigue and romance this is the perfect series for you.
Another interesting tale in the continuing series of magic and history. My only issue with this series is there are a lot of characters and many of them have similar sounding names, so it is a bit difficult to keep it all straight at times. Other than that, the story flows nicely and keeps my interest.
This author never disappoints me. As like the other tales in this series, the characters and their interactions were amazing and believable. I didn't want to put down this book. Everything was awesome and I love how the series draw together to complete the whole and I get to see how the sister's lives unfold.
Great Little Witch- Defies Her Mother & Finds Her Mate!
I enjoyed reading about Rosamund who knows how to use her powers for good and eventually for her husband, too! The more the sisters can defy their mother the better off their world will be. I think it is wonderful that these are all great love stories, too!
This is the third book in the Series, which is Rosalyde story . The three sister, who are left with their mother, decide that they have to get the book of shadows. Ross decide the book should go to her sister who is the North of England. it is on its journey she finds her champion Giles de Vere.
Rose was one of five sisters, who were all good witches. Though each sister had different strengths and skills. At this point Rose had to make the decision to take something of her mothers in order to prevent her from causing more evil and harm, and to save their country. Her escape was very dangerous until she found unexpected help.
