A Kingdom Divided Boxset 1-3 by SC Stokes Review 12-20-17
Action packed adventures from start to finish!

Watching from the window, Tristan screamed, “Father!” Tears streamed down his face as he fell to his knees. Without mercy the bandits closed in, torches blazing against the night sky. Tristan watched in terror as the Manor caught fire…with him inside it.

With his home in ashes and his world on fire, Tristan has to make a choice…Fight or die. Tyranny and civil war threaten to consume the island Kingdom of Valaar. Aided by a handful of brave souls, Tristan makes a stand that will change Valaar and the world forever.
What did I like?

A Coronation of Kings, book one: You can’t help but fall in love with Tristan and family! I think that struck me most was the difference in how the people were treated in this book, we all know that adage that you can more with honey. This book brings it all to heart in spades. I love the fact also that Tristan showed the strength that his did at his age.

When the Gods War, book two: I just finished book one and loved it and this one did not let me down. It continues with the same unbelievable action-packed adventure with so much more!

A Kingdom in Chaos is the third installment in S.C. Stokes’ A Kingdom Divided series. It can be read on its own or as part of the series. If you enjoy action-packed fantasy adventures, this series is a must for all of you! I fell in love with Tristan in book one with all the sadness in his life, he didn't let him stop him from going on and uniting his kingdom and bringing peace to the lands.

What will you like? Besides the total action, sorcery, lots of dragons, heroism, treachery and even a little romance, what more could you possibly want in a book series? Maybe a war between opposing powers and good and evil? These are full-on action-packed adventures from start to finish! I have finished the series and can’t wait for more. Each one can be read as a stand-alone novel in the A Kingdom Divided series. I received this from the author for an honest review with no other compensation.

So many twists of events that will stun and shock you!

This was a very long epic fantasy series. You get your money’s worth reading these books. I would advise that you set aside many hours to read them. You surely will not get much sleep once you start as you will crave to find out what happens next and then next and then next after that. So many twists of events and surprises that will stun and shock you. This series is very well written with characters fleshed out including humans, dwarfs, a golden dragon/human shifter, magical beings, gods, kings, queens, black clad assassins, and it goes without saying I probably left some out. It was easy to feel the joy or pain they felt. Battles are described such that it is not too difficult to follow. The places are well described and easy to imagine including several different worlds with the magical beings able to create portals to easily travel through. Needless to say I was very impressed with this author and his talent for writing. I anticipate reading more from this author in the future.

A wonderful 3 book box set.

3 books in 1 set! A Coronation of Kings I have read before but since it is in this set I read it again and loved it better than the 1st time. Then I read straight through the When the Gods War and A Kingdom in Chaos. What a wonderfully and well written trilogy with fully developed characters. This is a fantastic storyline full of diverse characters and fast paced action. You will join the Listar family as they deal with separation, death, treacherous betrayals, court intrigue and epic battles. There are warriors, mages and dragons. I started with the 1st book and didn't stop until the end of the last page of the 3rd book. I highly recommend this book. You just don't want to miss out on such a great fantasy story.

All three books offer a wonderful story to young adults and young at heart. Tristan has to grow up in a hurry as his father is killed and his kingdom under siege. He does receive help but it comes from a group of people he never considered before. The kingdoms are being torn apart from lack of food and water and a new enemy comes to convert the masses to Mythos away from the Allfather. Magic is afoot and what side will each kingdom choose. But Mythos allegiance comes with a price. The series is hard to put down. There is plenty of action and intrigue. It is fast pace, full of magic and intense battles. S.C. Stokes writing is direct and to the point without a lot of flourish and extremely entertaining. You will find this an very enjoyable Sword and Sorcery adventure.

Action

I thought the books over all were good, just did not like the way the author recapped things in the second and third books., felt that should have been written as a separate chapter at the beginning so those who had read the previous books could just skip that part. Still feel the story is worth reading

The saga continues

The saga continues as treachery, kidnapping, and cosmos intertwine with magic. What are gods prepared to do as one war is over? Is another to begin? Can't wait for the next book.

Non stop action

Fast paced action, magic and swords the only bad part is that it ends. Destined to be a classic of high fantasy

Terrible! DNF

Wow this book went from bad to terrible in a couple of chapters. The writing is juvenile, the characters are flat and the scenarios are just ridiculous.
