It can also rip your heart out.

Lacey Chambliss should be on top of the world, even if a hurricane is headed straight for her hometown of Honolulu. She’s being praised as a hero for saving a surfer’s life; her senior year of high school is about to begin; and after three long years of looking at her as a sister, her favorite guy in the world has finally asked her out. But Lacey has a painful secret. Several times in her life she has seen a strange visual phenomenon associated with a particular person. And every time she sees it, the person dies.

Lacey has always tried her best to warn people, even when she was a child. But her best has never been good enough. So when, to her horror, the dreaded specter strikes the guy she most adores, she vows to do whatever it takes to change his fate. Even if it means taking some serious risks, beginning with confessing her own freakishness. Because what she needs most now are some allies. And unbeknownst to her, in turning to her new friends Kali and Zane she has stumbled upon two powerful allies indeed...

This was the last book in the series , unless Edie writes more.
This series is about High School age friends and the strange gifts they each have. The books are a bit different from my usual type but I enjoyed the story's and the way they worked together to solve problems.

Hawaii Take Me Away

This is the fourth book in the Hawaiian shadows series. Although our beloved Kali and Zane are here, this book focuses more on their friends Lacey and Matt. It turns out that Lacey also has a unique "gift" that she doesn't understand and fortunately she has Kali and Zane to help her. She refers to what she sees as "warnings" because she'll see colors on people before something happens to them, usually death. She hasn't had them as often as Kali, but they started when she was young. Being around Kali and Zane with all their magical power has heightened Lacey's gifts.
Lacey and Matt just can't seem to get their communication in sync and have some misunderstandings. They both respect each other and value their friendship that they don't want to jeopardize. They have some hurdles, including Lacey's ex, Ty, trying to get her back and a pending hurricane wherein Lacey sees colors on multiple people, including Matt.
Once again, Ms. Claire does a great job of pulling you into the story and getting caught up in the emotions of all the characters we've come to love. This is a sweet teen/YA geared for a younger crowd, but I think people of all ages would enjoy. It makes you want to hop on a plane and head to Oahu.

It was a cute book! Technically it’s book 4 but it is from the eyes of a different character who was on the sidelines in the beginning.

After the ending from book 3, I enjoyed seeing it from Lacey’s point of view.

I definitely wish there was more of Kali and Zane and the rest of the friends, but this was satisfying. I’ve finished these four books within a week and a half and I’ll miss them!

Not quite a three or a four. More a three and a half. Just didn't care for this book as much as the first three in the series. Felt like I was reading a teeny-bopper romance story. If she writes anymore I probably won't read it.
