I'm not one to seek out fantasy novels, but I was recommended these books by a friend and I'll pretty much ready anything put in front of me. I am completely hooked on the storyline and have already started the second book in the series. The reason for 3 stars is that there are parts of the book that are rather choppy. The author changes scenery multiple times throughout the book and not all of the scenes receive the same attention to detail and leaves the reader confused. It's similar to having a conversation with someone who is thinking and then starts talking to you halfway into their thought rather than at the beginning. Some further editing and clarity would easily elevate this books rating.
Unsure, conflicted, lonely and outcast, with huge potential: that's how i would describe Gellia. Although Cassius is likely my favorite character. His sarcasm is really amusing. Will we find out what side of light and darkness she lands on? I'm sure we will. Lots of questions to be answered in future books in the series. This definitely not s party-builder series so far, nor a go-fight-the-dragon. Much more about characters as they navigate their world.
I really enjoyed this book. It evoked a lot of emotion and I felt a strong connection or understanding to the characters. Can’t wait for book 4 to come out!
