Juliana O’Neil’s promising future was burned away in the heat of battle. She had been an officer with a bright future in the military, but now she is struggling to survive. Her husband gone and her career in shambles, she finds a job at Top as a hostess and tries to put together the pieces of her life. The last thing she needs is any kind of male attention, but she can’t help but be amused at her neighbor and coworker’s lothario antics. Not that she would have anything to do with him, at least not for more than one night.

Javier Leones doesn’t understand monogamy. No woman could ever be enough for his endless libido, but he has to admit Juliana has his attention. For reasons he doesn’t fully understand, he can’t seem to get the gorgeous redhead with the sad eyes out of his head. After one scorching night together, he realizes he’ll never be able to get her out of his system. But with his reputation, he fears she’ll never see him as more than a one-night stand.

When their passions collide, these new lovers will be forced to confront Juliana’s past and come to terms with Javier’s present. Will they find their way or will this reservation be canceled at the last minute?

descriptionI enjoyed this one more than I thought I would but not as much as I hoped I would. You can pretty much chalk that up to me being over the whole uber manwhore thing lately. I knew going in that that was exactly what Javi was, but I had hoped we would not get a front row seat for his actions. But we do. And his manwhore past is in our face constantly throughout the book (the last throwaway comment at the end of the book about the condoms and lube in the broom closet was nasty and totally unnecessary at that point). And not only do we the reader get a front row seat, so does the heroine (Jules). And honestly, that type of scenario is one of my least favorite in my romance books. Mostly because I lose respect for the heroine because no woman with an ounce of self-respect would want to get into a relationship with a guy who she has seen with a revolving door of women. At least she wasn't sitting around pining for him while he was screwing everything that walked right in front of her. So that was a positive. That was the bad stuff. Now on to the good stuff...
description
The writing as always was top notch. It was well paced. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. The Rafe mystery was a little underdeveloped, but he intrigued me, and I hope we will be seeing him in his own book one day. The sex scenes were reasonably hot (if a little on the light side). It is always a treat to see characters from other books. Especially my man Ian (I wanted more of him). Jules, I adored. She was sweet and feisty. I loved that Miz Blake introduced us to a female vet amputee. Something you rarely ever see in romance books. Javi, what can I say. I liked him for the most part. Except when he threw his little hissy fit because of Jule's preconceived notions about him. I mean if you act like a manwhore that has sex with coworkers in broom closets, then don't cop an attitude when you are treated like the manwhore you have always been.

description

As a couple, they missed the mark for me. The transition from him going from wanting to give one woman his collar than when that didn't work out going on a sexathon for two straight weeks, and then all of a sudden wanting a relationship and professing his love for the heroine was WAY too fast for me. And I just didn't buy it. The other issue I had was as I mentioned above the constant mentioning of his manwhore past. WAY too many comparisons between the heroine and his past hookups. Way too much inner thoughts on Javi's side about his history with women and even the heroine kept bringing up his "other women" in conversations. For "ME" that hindered my ability to connect with this couple. It's hard to get onboard with a relationship if I am being beaten over the head by one-half of that couples past sexcapdes all the time. Lastly, it was all wrapped up in an OK ending. Personally, I would have liked more, but this author isn't big on epilogues, so it is what it is.

description

Wrapping this up, I'll admit I'm a bit sad because I have had an issue with the last few books I have read by this author. I don't hate them. I can only think of one book that was a total miss for me. I always enjoy them overall. But with the ridiculous OTT manwhore heroes of late and the reader constantly being beaten over the head with the hero's past. Where I use to be SO over the moon excited when a new Lexi Blake book was released, I now enter into them with a lot of trepidation and caution. And that really kind of sucks. Nevertheless, the good has outweighed the bad thus far, so I am still hanging in and keeping my fingers crossed the next book is a hit.description

If she wasn’t smart enough to get away from him, he would catch her and hold her and never let her go.

I adore, simply adore all thing Lexi Blake. Where her Masters and Mercenaries series is my all time favorite, her Topped series is my fix between the M&M releases. They never fail to bring me a little taste of my favorite world with a good dose of Big Tag and Chef Tag while introducing a slew of new and addicting characters.

I've been curious about Javier's book for some time. As the unapologetic playboy of the Topped restaurant, this sexy chef never felt the need to bind himself to any one woman.
Hurricane Javier. He got in, got the job done, and walked away before it got too heavy. Sometimes that meant walking away before names were exchanged.

But lately Javi has found himself craving more. Looking at his happily settled down coworkers, he finds himself curious about a connection beyond just one night. And the woman that sparks his interest? His beautiful neighbor and coworker, Juliana. After she came to his rescue when his brother had another drunken episode since losing both of his legs in the military, he finds himself thinking of her more and more.

Juliana O’Neil is trying to get her life back after losing her dominant hand while serving overseas. Now I ask you, how often do you read about a female vet? Not often enough, I say, and mad props to Lexi Blake for pulling it off. Juliana is strong and competent, though still struggling with the loss of her promising military career and the inevitable though amicable loss of her marriage. Now working as a hostess at Top, she struggling to adjust to her life as it is while still wishing for the things she dreamed about before losing her hand.

She doesn't believe that someone like Javi could ever give her what she needs. After all, he's a womanizer that never held on to any one woman longer than one interlude. She doesn't understand why she would be different, no matter how much Javi tries to convince her otherwise.

At Your Service was a sweet and sexy romance. I adored the way Javier was with Juliana, but even more, I loved the way that she fought for him right back. There's an added suspense element that serves to spice things up a notch, but the romance was the ultimate ingredient that kept me riveted to the pages. I loved both of these characters and couldn't get enough of them. There's also an interesting new addition that I'm hoping we'll see more of. Especially with the hints of who she has her eye on. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to rock myself in the corner until the release of the next Masters book.

There is a reason Lexi Blake's books are a must-buy for me-they are entertaining, satisfying and emotionally supportive.

This powerful entry into the TOP series explores the relationship between hostess Juliana and sous chef Javier. Several things make their connection unlikely: Javier's brother and his own reputation as a himbo, and most importantly, Juliana's recovery from the loss of her hand while in the Navy.

In addition to strong, likable characters, an intriguing plot and steamy sex scenes, the story, like others in this series, explores the problems faced by veterans returning from service with missing limbs. Juliana is doing everything right-seeing a therapist, going back to work, even trying things that scare her-but is she really moving forward? Can Javier overcome his past to show Juliana that a relationship is worth trying and that there are ways to make her dreams come true.

We catch up on some of the previous characters from earlier books in the series, and from the related Masters and Mercenaries series. Expect some mild BDSM, and some angst, along with some twists and turns in the story. This is another five star read by this talented author.

I have to start saying something that has stuck in my head and I found it ridiculous. Javier says to Julie, "All of that was before I met you" referring to all the women he had slept with in the past which makes me laugh because I recall him saying that he was on a one-night stand spree a month or so ago. And Julie saw most of those women. I liked how Javier tried for most of the book to win over Juliet and make her see how good they were together, but I understand why she wasn't expecting anything more from him. I wouldn't have either. And Juliet has to get used to her life with one hand, which is not easy and she didn't want to accept her reality. I was very happy to see Javier doing everything he could to force her to get used to her reality.

I loved all the people at Topped. I want to read more stories about the people who work there. Everyone seemed nice and I liked them. I also want to see Javier's brother getting back with his wife and having a happy family. Sasha needs her man to realize what he is missing so I will be waiting for her book too.

I have to say that I wasn't lost in this book. It was a good story but it didn't draw me as the other books by Lexi Blake have, which is the reason I will give the book a four-star rating. My favorite couple appears in this book (Ian and Charlotte, even though I haven't read their book) and I found it a delicious treat. I would recommend the book and it can be read as stand alone. For a more pleasurable experience, I suggest you to read the other books in the series too.

“When did Javier get all caveman about a woman?”

“When he met the right one,” Chef said with a smile.

I had a moment of insanity where I requested this book and an instant later I forgot about it. I kid you not.

Of all the things I’ve lost I miss my mind the most. So true peeps.

I then spoke to a friend to ask if she was going to request it. She said yes and I replied that I would wait until she’d read it and buy it instead. Colour me surprised when I checked my Kindle Saturday morning and I had it sitting there, staring right at me, saying ha sucker, thought you could avoid me, tough.

Now you get to read me.

I truly felt like a glutton for punishment. Javier is the himbo of Topped and he is a walking STD, the rumour mill is working overtime. He has a thing with the broom closet.

Anyhoo I went into this thinking I’m going to hate the turd but oddly although his himbo ways aren’t mentioned aren’t that extreme. Yes it is all still there and he was always honest about what he put out in the world. Honesty works with me.

But here you can see that he is trying to turn over a new leaf. Rebrand himself, settle down.
All I can say is well done Ms. Blake with me actually really liking Javi at the end of the book.
We have Ms. Reluctant as the heroine and boy was it a pain to read. What is it lately with all the heroines being so reluctant? I don’t expect them to be all in from the start but you know a little excitement might be good here. Jules did grow on me, like mold but good mold not the bad kind that can you stop breathing and die, you get my point.

I think that these two did work together but there was so much miscommunication that could have been avoided. Jules issues are more severe than Javi’s but it was hard to see why. The chemistry was there but it could have been off the charts.

LB still delivers a highly entertaining read with strong characters, revisiting old characters and being back at Topped is like coming home. Yet not all of it worked out for me and here it comes I skimmed the ending as I know how it all ended and that was enough for me.

But we were low on play here, I mean really this is what it is all about. The give and take the deep caring and well what Lexi brought to the table at the beginning but seems to be somewhat lacking the last couple of books. I think some things were glossed over too much as well. I would have liked to have seen somewhat depth.

All in all I am still a fan so I will continue with Lexi Blake and her awesomesauceness.

I can NEVER get enough of this series! I can NEVER get enough of Lexi Blake’s writing! I can NEVER get enough of these unforgettable characters! Old or new, these characters have become like family to me, and I never want it to end! AT YOUR SERVICE is Blake’s latest installment in her Masters and Mercenaries: TOPPED series and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome! Juliana and Javier were BEAUTIFUL together! My heart dipped, swirled, and plummeted a few times throughout the read, but in the end, Lexi Blake DELIVERED and she DELIVERED 150%!

This author gives us the PERFECT BLEND of passion, romance, and suspense with this latest release! The characters, the imagery, the storyline, the flow, everything was spectacular! I never WANT with a Lexi Blake romance. She gives us EVERYTHING - heart and soul — with each new release and AT YOUR SERVICE is just another example of that. Lexi’s writing has brought such light and joy into my world, and that is something I will never forget. She is a MASTER storyteller and true deliverer of the most EPIC happily ever afters that I’ve ever read. She will always and forever be one of my ultimate GO TO authors for contemporary, suspense, paranormal, and erotic romances. I’ll repeat NO ONE does it better than Ms. Blake! NO ONE!

At Your Service CAN be read as a standalone, but I will ALWAYS recommend this entire series. If you aren’t HOOKED and ADDICTED to her writing by the time you get to ‘The End’ I will be SHOCKED! Enjoy!

First and foremost, you can read this book as a standalone. But I do highly urge you to read the other books in this series because they are just too damn good to pass up. I promise after read this book alone, you will find yourself one-clicking her other books.

At Your Service is Javier’s book. I was extremely curious to see how Javier’s story would pan out – he’s the playboy chef at Top and doesn’t apologize ever for his actions. And we get to see those actions up close and personal in this book.

Juliana is wounded vet that has returned home from service. She lost her dominant hand and now isn’t sure where to go from here. She is hired as a hostess at Top, where she meet Javier and his great womanizing ways. But for whatever reasons, Javier can’t get Juliana out of his head. And well, she just wants to stay away from him, but he isn’t having that.

I have to give a huge massive shout-out and high-five to Lexi for writing about a female vet in this book. We always get the wounded male hero stories but we rarely read about the females heroes we have and Lexi does a fantastic job of writing about a very strong and independent female war veteran. Kudos Lexi!!!

Javier and Juliana’s relationship is quite a rough and tumble journey in ways. He’s got to prove to Juliana that he’s truly not the womanizer she sees. And I love that Juliana fought for Javier too. And like always, Lexi has the added the suspense that just makes everything all the more enticing. Another fabulous story from Lexi Blake!!

When I first started Master and Mercenaries, I never knew I would get to read spin offs and even all these books with so many characters I have grown to love. Maybe its because this world is just perfect. Maybe its because Masters and Mercenaries is just a drool worthy, sensual and fantastic package that makes me giddy and fall in love with. I adore Lexi Blake and her writing. She has definitely created a world that I am so addicted to. At your Service is another amazing book in the Masters and Mercenaries: Topped series. I was pulled in so deep to a world I have loved ever since I started the first book in the series.

At your Service is a book riddled with suspense, passion and an exciting storyline that will give you thrills. Javier and Jules are an emotional couple with so much heart, soul and chemistry that will grip you. I really loved them together. There was emotion. There was too many feels that touched me on a whole different level. At your Service was a spectacular erotic romance with drama and angst that had me on the edge of my seat. I was completely on pins and needles. Lexi Blake always delivers. Her writing always flows and the story lives inside of you. Her characters are also impeccable to read about and every time I always look forward to reading about them. just like At your Service, Lexi Blake always gives me top notch books that I never get enough of.

Seriously, if you have not started reading the Masters and Mercenaries, then I fully recommend you should. They are exhilarating, action packed and fast paced that will keep you up all night. Totally worth it.

I started this book on Veteran’s Day and honestly I could not have chosen a better romance (or series) for that day. The majority of Ms. Blake’s characters in the Top series served in the military and bear the emotional and physical scars of their sacrifices, and Jules and Javier are another fabulous couple of characters. I loved that there are no shortcuts when it comes to the way the romance unfolds, and because this is Ms. Blake, there’s some kinky fun to be had. Ms. Blake’s M&T ‘verse is rich and constantly growing and while it may seem daunting to new readers, I encourage you to give it a shot. This is like my BDSM continuing drama that keeps on giving me all the feels while keeping it hot and sexy. If you love character-based romances featuring veterans and a dash of kink, I would recommend it.

5 Star reviews of At Your Service At Your Service (Masters and Mercenaries #14.5; Topped #4) by Lexi Blake

I will be honest and admit that this is one of my all time favourite series and truth be told when I get a chance to review a Lexi Blake book I will always jump at the opportunity.
Javier Leones is a chef at Top and commonly known as a ladies man or man whore. He is extremely attractive, always dashing and totally alpha male and hot. He is heavily into BDSM and as such is also a Master at Sanctum.
Javier is attracted to Juliana O'Neil who works as a hostess at Top. She is a veteran who lost her dominant hand while on deployment. Although she is moving through life, it is more just going through the motions. It isn’t until Javier explodes into her life that she realises just how much she has been hiding away.
Ironically she decides she wants a one night stand with Javier and no one is more surprised than he when he realises that Juliana is “the one” and he decides to pursue her. He is madly attracted and drawn to her, despite the sadness that surrounds her; he vows to bring her back into the light even if she doesn’t want to be.
I have always loved the character of Javier and it was wonderful to see him get his HEA with Juliana, who really is the perfect match for him.
There is drama, smoking hot scenes and a few tear jerking moments ( as Javier’s brother struggles with being a double amputee) and as always although not a particularly long read, it was as I have come to expect from Ms. Blake, entertaining and extremely well written.
Although this book can be read as a stand alone, I think you would get more enjoyment if you were to start at the beginning and work your way through the magic that is Masters and Mercenaries.

This series is just fun. Each one of them has been great and while they are a series, each one has managed to feel like a totally different story in the same world.

Juliana and Javier work together and she is trying to put her life back together after an injury. I love that she is not "perfect" and I love that she is not necessarily the stereotypical heroine of a romance story. Sometimes stories and characters appeal to me for different reasons, and I think this is true for everyone...and the idea of a heroine who isn't perfect, well, I loved this.

As always, the writing and the relationship were strong and compelling. You like the characters, and the secondary characters added to the story in interesting ways.

I recommend this title.

Loved this story! Loved it. If you’re a fan of these Topped / MM novellas, this one is not only a kick-ass story (Juliana is the shiz) but the number of threads woven in here that lead us to the (now released) Lexi Blake Collection, are just perfection.
Sidebar: I could not be more in love with Sean Taggart than I already am, but this book reminded me exactly why I fell in the first place.

Even though he was a manwhore, I liked Javi. Aside from his playboy status, Javi was funny and quick-witted. He worked hard, played hard, and was loyal to family and friends. Jules was smart, sarcastic, and always helpful, but she was so freaking prideful and stubborn! Normally that wouldn’t bother me, because I like strong heroines, but seeing how hard Javi was actually working to prove himself to her while also trying to get her to admit how much she was hiding from herself almost became an odyssey! Communication was definitely an issue for these two, but with the help of nosey, well meaning friends, it made the story interesting for sure.

Overall, I like most aspects of this story. Javi and Jules both frustrated me at times, but eventually straightened themselves out. I loved revisiting the crew at Topped and gracious knows there’s never a dull moment in that restaurant! And yes, I have to mention Big Tag and Charlotte because they usually provide that one scene that’s hilarious, sarcastic, and completely memorable simply because those two are a seriously hot mess! I had to pick up Masters Bits and Mercenaries Bites-Girls Night by Lexi Blake and Suzanne Johnson to learn the deets that interferes with Big Tag and Charlotte’s plans-kids do the darnedest things, lol!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

If you have never read any of this series before, then I do recommend them all to you - and your experience of this book would be richer for knowing the rationale, and understanding behind what many of the gang say to both Javier and Jules in this story. But it is also an excellent read in its own right. And, having enjoyed it, you will find that you have a wonderful collection of books to add to your reading list.

Juliana used the Navy to escape her mother, but ended up losing the ability to do the thing she loved the most, cooking. She has found herself in a hostess role in Top, which keeps her near food, but is also frustrating her. The fact that she is attracted to chef Javier does not help. His womanising ways are not an attraction, but nearly everything else about him is. I admired how positive she was about her position, even if it was only on the surface - and it contrasted well with Javier's brother.

Completely blindsided by how Jules has got under his skin, Javier has to work out how he is going to get the girl. It is fun watching the other guys tease him, and remember how many of them had to fight to get their girl too. His Dom talents are not used to exploit the situation, instead he is very mindful of Jules' needs and kinky play is very carefully introduced. It would be fun to see them grow in future installments.

Loved catching up with old friends, seeing two more people who needed each other connect and become integrated as a couple in the wider family. A definite feel good novel in the series, without too much angst!

Javier Leones doesn't understand monogamy. He's a known playboy, both at Top restaurant (where he's a chef) and at club Sanctum (where he's a Dom), so his co-worker and neighbor Juliana O'Neil could be forgiven for thinking all he wants from her is a one night stand. Military veteran Juliana had once hoped to be a chef, but after the traumatic amputation of her dominant hand, she thinks both her professional and personal dreams are out of reach. Can Javier convince Juliana that he wants more from her, both as a lover and as a chef?

I really disliked the first two books in the Masters and Mercenaries series, so I'm not sure why I even tried this book. Maybe it's my obsession with the Food Network that makes me want to read about chefs. But unlike the first two books, this book is full of characters that seem like they could be real people -- Javier, caring for his disabled veteran brother while starting his first long-term relationship. Juliana, who's let her injury take away her dreams. It's a thoughtful look at the trauma and recovery of veterans hidden away in a BDSM romance novel -- and it's wonderful.

At Your Service (Masters and Mercenaries #14.5) by Lexi Blake
3.5 stars
M/F Romance with hints of BDSM
Triggers: Limb loss, drug abuse
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Juliana is coping with the twists and turns that her life has taken. When things became too much and her life was planned out for her, she decided to enlist and turned away from the empire that her mom was building and instead, found herself and her own path in the military. Now, after being discharged due to an injury, she finds herself at a loss for where she wants her life to head now.

Javier has a reputation where he works for a man who enjoys a good time, but someone who won't share his heart with anyone. Despite that reputation, he finds himself drawn to Juliana for a reason he can't quite figure out. When his brother comes to live with him after suffering a double amputation from a battle, Javier has to rethink some of his priorities.

Javier and Juliana both have secrets, both are trying to figure out where their lives and going and each has something to give. When Javier and Juliana share a night of passion, Javier wants more than he's ever wanted before. However, Juliana believes that she's just another conquest and writes it off.

This is the first relationship that Javier has wanted and Juliana makes him work for it. I really enjoyed watching Javier work and come to terms with his own issues. Juliana also had issues, and it was resolved in a good manner - I didn't feel that she was left hanging on her own issues. I liked these two as a couple.

Jules and Javier...

OMG Javier finally found her and what an awesome chick Jules is I just love her, these two are just perfect for each other.
I really liked the way Javier just knew Jules was different and there would be no going back for him and Jules she has been through so much and survived and now she is thriving.

This story was a great addition to the family.

Enjoyable

This part of a series but can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading all the stories because they’re good, very good....
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Well described characters that’s developed in to realistic personalities
Sizzling chemistry between the characters
The storyline is good and I’m into the story from the first chapter.

Like every book in this series the main characters are wonderful damaged souls fighting for love or to avoid it like many of us. Javier and Jules are made for each other, they just need to get over themselves. I love the humor, drama, and love. Highly recommend it.

Like most of the restaurant books, this really tried to do some interesting things, but it didn't quite have enough page space to accomplish them all. I really enjoy spending time with the restaurant team though, and this book was no different.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

Um... can I start by saying how freaking impressive to have a series that's reached #14.5 and it's still going strong? Wow! There were so many layers to the book that just made it fantastic and un-put-downable - Javi's attempts to reform his lothario ways, his pursuit of Jules, his difficulties with his brother, Jules' tension with her mother, her struggle to adapt in order to realize and achieve her dream, and her difficulties in accepting Javi's advances as genuine - those were just a few of the aspects of the books that made it absolutely riveting. I also really appreciated that I was able to read the book as a standalone, but it was so good and featured couples from the series in such an appealing way that I want to commit to tackling the entire series from the beginning. Yep, the book was so good I'm diving in 14 deep. 4 out 5 wine glasses.

Javier's and Julianna's love story is all about reconciliation: reconciling loss of autonomy, reconciling loss of dreams, reconciling the past with the present and future. Jules lost her hand in the service of her country and thus the loss of her dreams. Javier has to reconcile the loss of the brother he once knew with the shell of a man who has given up on life because he lost his legs. Together they navigate a relationship where there is mistrust, miscommunication and stubborn pride. When one gives up tne other perserveres,

Lexi Blake creates strong male characters and even stronger female ones. Her stories have depth, poignancy, heart and all types of love: familial, erotic, hopeful and healing love. Add in a bit of mystery and a taste of danger and voila! The perfect reading experience.

I enjoyed this story, but I thought the secondary was superfluous. I thought the issues between the MCs was enough without the brother's story being added. It was just extra drama. Still it worked and I enjoyed Sebastian York's narration - even though it is still weird not hearing Ryan West in these stories.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 14, 2017

Will they find their way or will this reservation be cancelled at the last minute?

REVIEW: 3.75 stars- AT YOUR SERVICE by Lexi Blake is the latest novella in the author’s contemporary adult MASTERS AND MERCENARIES: Topped BDSM romance series. This is naval officer and amputee Juliana O’Neil, and chef Javier Leones’ story line. AT YOUR SERVICE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Juliana and Javier) AT YOUR SERVICE follows several paths including the building romance and relationship between co-workers and neighbors Juliana O’Neil, and Javier Leones, as well as the destructive nature of loss and war. Juliana is a naval veteran who lost her dominant hand while on deployment over seas, and has found a bit of a kindred spirit in her neighbour Javier Leones, whose older brother continues to struggle with the loss of his legs. What ensues is the back and forth between Javier and Juliana as our heroine battles between her head and her heart, and the loss of a future she longed to explore; and the potential destruction of Javier’s brother when the demons come knocking on Javier’s door.

Javier Leones, a former military man, is a manwhore whose doesn’t do relationships; whose reputation with the ladies precedes his introduction to our story line heroine. A Master at the BDSM Club Sanctum, as well as a chef at Sean Taggart’s TOP restaurant, Javier also faces an uphill battle with his older brother who has struggled since the loss of his legs while on deployment over seas. A series of unexplained break-ins, and threats to his brother’s life find Javier stepping back to protect the woman he loves.

A one-time chef, Juliana now works as a hostess at TOP due to the difficulty using the tools required for the job but Javier is determined to push our heroine to take the steps to further a career long thought lost. Juliana is a woman afraid of losing her heart, and accepts that a relationship with Javier means there is always someone else waiting in the wings.

The relationship between Juliana and Javier is one of friends/co-workers to lovers; a relationship that struggles on preconceived notions, a past riddled with too many one-night stands, and a woman who battles some ghosts of her own. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive; the D/s and BDSM scenarios are limited and light involving some spanking, and show and tell. Juliana’s constant back and forth, yes and no, up and down was a little disconcerting; her jealousy, anger and indecisiveness juxtaposed with her easy going concern for Javier’s brother. The author's need to constantly remind the reader about Javier's past indiscretions is bothersome and annoying-I struggled with the numerous mentions from family, friends and the woman he loved.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several previous story line couples as well as a number of TOP employees, and SANCTUM members, Javier’s ex Kristy, and his brother Rafe Leones; and nosy neighbors Mrs. Gleeson and Mr. Cassidy.

The world building continues to look at the friendships and relationship at TOP and SANCTUM, as well as the ongoing struggles for the military personnel who continue to do battle upon returning home.

AT YOUR SERVICE is a story of family and friendship, and the daily struggle for American veterans whose lives have been destroyed or forever altered. Both the H/h have issues and vulnerability that need to be addressed, hopefully their happily ever after isn’t compromised by ghosts from the past. The premise is captivating and inviting; the characters are energetic and lively; the romance is provocative and intense.

M/F Romance with hints of BDSM
Triggers: Limb loss, drug abuse

Juliana is coping with the twists and turns that her life has taken. When things became too much and her life was planned out for her, she decided to enlist and turned away from the empire that her mom was building, and instead found herself and her own path in the military. Now, after being discharged due to an injury, she finds herself at a loss for where she wants her life to head now.

Javier has a reputation where he works as a man who enjoys a good time, but someone who won't share his heart with anyone. Despite that reputation, he finds himself drawn to Juliana for a reason he can't quite figure out. When his brother comes to live with him after suffering a double amputation from a battle, Javier has to rethink some of his priorities.

Javier and Juliana both have secrets, both are trying to figure out where their lives are going and each has something to give.

Juliana also had issues, and it was resolved in a good manner – I didn't feel that she was left hanging on her own issues. I liked these two as a couple.

If you have never read any of this series before, then I do recommend them all to you – and your experience of this book would be richer for knowing the rationale and understanding behind what many of the gang say to both Javier and Jules in this story. But it is also an excellent read in its own right. And having enjoyed it, you will find that you have a wonderful collection of books to add to your reading list.

I admired how positive she was about her position, even if it was only on the surface – and it contrasted well with Javier's brother.

At face value, Javier Leones and Juliana O’Neil couldn’t be more different in almost every aspect of their lives but one – their passion for cooking, but even that similarity comes with its own road blocks because while Javier is the sous chef at Top, Jules is only a hostess because her faith in her abilities as a chef deteriorated when she lost her dominant hand in combat saving the lives of five people but seemingly losing herself in the process.

I’m always amazed how writers take a hero and a heroine who seem unequivocally opposite at the beginning of the story but then slowly assimilates the contrasting qualities in a way that allows both characters to grow, not in spite of, but because of their differences…this is exactly what Lexi Blake accomplishes in At Your Service, and while Javier has a bit of a harder road than Jules due to his past manwhorish ways, what they achieve together is absolutely beautiful even amidst the frustration and miscommunication that threatens to upend any forward progress they make.

Javier and Jules’ story has to be one of my favorite Lexi Blake books of all time…partly because of the supporting characters who push them to their full potential as individuals and as a couple, but more so because there is a depth to both Javier and Jules that is explored throughout the story line – one that has many layers and one that illustrates exactly who they are, what they fear, and why they’ve made the choices that they have.

Javier appears to be single-minded when it comes to his past hookups with women and for that reason, his reputation precedes him and makes Jules not take him seriously when he wants to know her on much more than a carnal level. It’s definitely difficult for Javier to rebrand himself when his prior manwhorish ways were played out in front of everyone, including Jules, so his perceived staying power is non-existent, which doesn’t mesh at all with what Jules needs and causes a multitude of misperceptions and hurt feelings because Javier has never had to work to get a woman he’s wanted, so the missteps he makes as well as Jules’ hot and cold demeanor don’t bode well for making anything between them permanent.

Jules is definitely a prickly heroine. She appears to be coping well with everything that life has thrown at her, but if people looked below the surface, they would find a woman who’s merely existing…one who’s afraid to accept this new version of herself and see past her limitations because the risk of failure is too great. Since her discharge from service and her divorce, Jules has hid behind her disability instead of finding ways to adapt and prove that she can still achieve her dreams if she’d only have the courage and the self-worth to do so.

There is quite the push and pull dynamic when it comes to Jules and Javier building anything substantial and both characters are responsible for one another’s feelings of inadequacy and heartache. Nothing is simple in the lives that Jules and Javier are living because there are extenuating circumstances and outside forces to contend with, but at the heart of their issues is Jules’ lack of self-worth and Javier’s past sexual proclivities, which are not insurmountable as long as they have faith in themselves and one another and willingly look beyond past practices and attitudes.

I absolutely adored At Your Service; the title alone illustrates a multitude of ways that Jules and Javier can serve each other and once they get themselves on the same page, boy do they give each other what they want, what they need, and what they deserve!
