Reread: 3/20-23, 2016
Solid four stars. I love this series, flaws and all. Coleman plays fast and loose with a few facts, but people have been doing that with stories and movies forever. Just watch any old western where the heroes and villains alike fire ad infinitum from a six shooter without reloading.

Anyway, I mentioned the miraculously healed ankle in my review of the last book which actually happens at the start of this one. Later a boat runs out of gas but suddenly has more a little later on. I have no idea where they got it from; siphoned it out of the ocean, I reckon.
Kirkland is really starting to piss me off. If he would just shut the hell up for two seconds from time to time, and let things play out, they could've been off this island a hundred times by now, but no, he's gotta be a shit. At least he keeps the plot moving.
I also mentioned Augie in my last review. Being taken up with his character started in the last book, but this is the one where he becomes completely awesome.
I'm still loving this stroll down memory lane in spite of the story's weaknesses, and I'm still giving it four stars because I can, and because I'm completely wrapped up in it. I occasionally wonder why I cut this story more slack than I did The Maze Runner Series, but remember that the inconsistencies and contradictions and characters aren't anywhere near as bad in this one. The characters are consistent in their actions and motives. That makes a big difference. The gas and ankle things... Well, I guess you sometimes write yourself into a corner, and don't have time to fix it before the deadline? I don't know. It's not enough to make me want to put this aside. In fact, I can't wait to get started on the next one.

Escape from lost island series is along the lines of "Lord of the Flies" but without the Devil worshipping. I read this series when I was in Jr. High and recently reread them through interlibrary loan at the library. Well worth the time.
In a nutshell: Evil mutants live on an island that is owned by the military (experiments gone wrong). Plane of young boys get stranded and must try to survive until someone can rescue them or they find a way to escape.
Great set of books I wish the series would be reprinted.

I remember reading this series as a teenager and thoroughly enjoying them. Great story of a plane crash and what some kids find on an island that was used as a genetic research lab.
