Quite a pleasant read, Black Summoner tells the tale of a reincarnated young man blessed with the power of summoning, he makes contact with whatever he desires after defeating them in battle, his first ally he makes a contract with is a slime followed by an ancient knight.... enough spoilers...
Let me say the book is an easy read with a nice pace and the illustrations are quite good. Black Summoner is a great read as an isekai and you may just find yourself addicted to the story after a few pages.
I promised myself I wasn't starting any new manga series but I couldn't resist this one.
I watched this on Crunchy Roll and loved it and the manga didn't disappoint!
Black Summoner follows Kelvin as he wakes up with no memories in a world full of adventure and magic. Apparently he bartered his memories in exchange for the ability to become a summoner. If you're a fan of RPG games, this is right up your street!
I figured a manga based around elements of an RPG game would be kinda lame and I wasn't sure how this would work but I actually think it is really successful.
A light novel of a guy who was transported to another world. It is game like in that the "status" thingy is there and "skills" and "titles" are a thing in it. He is a "summoner" and a Earth mage later on a white / support mage too. It mostly revolves around how he interacts with his party made up of him and all his summons. .... oh yeah the girl on the cover is the one character in his party that is not a summon of his. It is different from most isekai light novels that he is not the hero nor is he the demon lord. None of his summons are either. One is the Goddess that summons the heros and that is worked into the story but he is unable to summon her. It is forshadowed that he will at least try again in volume 2. Most of the battles are that are written in the book actually have tension to them as the summons can die and when they die he is no longer able to summon them.
It is a good book and I am happy there is a volume 2. I already have volume 2 on pre-order too.
MC is "reincarnated" as an adult in a fantasy world and sacrifices his memories of self for more points to craft his ideal cheat build. As a summoner, he apparently is able to contract seemingly anyone there by magically binding and empowering them. I am unclear what happens to his summons if he dies, but that seems unlikely to happen. With MC's chosen build, he is able to rapidly become OP with seemingly minimal effort. Worldbuilding is ok so far, but I feel like that casual slavery encountered in the otherwise idyllic Parth, the "City of Peace", was a bit out-of-place, and was obviously only used as a plot device explaining why Efin hadn't allocated any skill points. Otherwise, her being a slave doesn't seem to serve any obvious purpose so far, and another explanation could have been used. Of course, this series seems to take pleasure in serving up all the usual tropes so maybe that's the point. Some details are left unexplored so far, such as some FTB coitus, that no one talks about again. Ultimately, I am not sure where this series is going but I am interested enough to continue. Although, MC's character design with the weird antenna headpiece is throwing me off. (59K)
A good and fun read. Story is quite weak, not original. The characters are well described and built through the story, with a couple of fun moments and the typical fanservice, which are introduce in the story as a check item. The fights are quite boring, with no surprises. Maybe volume 2 will pick up the pace with the story and characters.
Fun story with fun characters. Unfortunately the MC is way too OP for me. Max lvl this and max lvl that at level 1. All summons get an extra 50-100 stat points in every stat. Double skills and stats for the MC. At that point the story lost a lot of my interest. Still fun if you are in the perfect mood, but skip it otherwise.
IT's ok. I guess I just don't really get this type of Japanese writing. It's kind of strange. It's extremely simple writing like it's written for children, but it does have some adult themes. It's not graphic at all but certainly has some adult situations. Also the MC is supposedly an adult but the way he talks and acts is like a 12 yo.
I gave up about an hour end for one simple reason. The author appears to writing for teens as the story lines are simple to the point of being boring. I quit reading after a one dimensional bully character (a prince from a neighboring country) shows up and picks a fight for no reason with the MC. I find that kind of story telling too moronic to stomach.
Bought this book because it sounded interesting. The MC sounded way overpowered from the synopsis but while he is powerful i would not call him overpowered. He uses his smarts and achieves his goals. Enjoyed the book and have pre-ordered the next.
I'm a fan of light novel s as with Magna, and Anime series,I have enjoyed the world of light novels. Especially like this series, the characters are just starting out and the interaction of this world is different direction from most.
The Protagonist's journey is too easy, nothing is earned so there is no real sense of danger. This reads like the fantasy of a twelve years old boy. I recommend you read something else.
A fun raw. Nothing terribly unexpected here. Work that Falls right in the genre. OP hero And lots of lots of sillyness A fun in the entertaining read Not to be taken too seriously. I will probably read the next one. As it is still fun But not anything to stupendous.
*mini spoiler* I greatly enjoyed this book as it brought a solid fun loving battle junkie's story to life. The battles were well written and the story has good sustemamce .
I've actually seen the anime series. I enjoyed that very much and decided to try the light novel. I appreciate how much more there is to the novel that's not included in the show. I can't wait to read further!
This one is a lot of fun plus it explains a lot of things that the anime misses. I guess its like the movies you simply can't put everything in the anime that is available to the regular reader. Definitely another series I will continue reading.
I have loved the anime for years and researched it several times. I just discovered the book series and am loving all of the characters all over again.
A 7hr audio book. Mixed feeling on this Manga, I feel like its missing something. Overall, I really like the main protagonist and his personality. The story seams to get real dark at times, but that is to be expected. Looking forward to the next book.
