About the author

Fujiko F. Fujio (藤子・F・不二雄) was a penname of Japanese significant cartoonist Hiroshi Fujimoto. After leaving his native home for Tokyo, he started his drawing career collaborating with his partner and long-time friend, Abiko Motoo who later held the penname Fujiko Fujio A. Their co-penname was Fujiko Fujio, which became well-known in Japan and in many countries. Fujimoto and his companion became briefly students of the greatest Japanese cartoonist Osamu Tetsuka.

Fujiomoto saparated from his buddy in 1987 due to a cancer, and took the penname 'Fujiko F. Fujio'. He still released his many volumes of 'classic' manga which inspired numerous children and becoming adults all around the world.

He died from the effect of liver failure.

Doraemon- chú mèo máy đến từ tương lai, tốt bụng và thông minh. Cậu đến từ thế kỉ 22 để giúp đỡ Nobita vượt qua những khó khăn trong cuộc sống của cậu. Doraemon và Nobita là 2 nhân vật chính của truyện, bên cạnh đó còn có nhóm bạn Shizuka, Suneo, Jaian. 5 người bạn cùng nhau trãi qua nhiều cuộc phiêu lưu thú vị và có nhiều bài học đáng nhớ. Câu chuyện đã đi theo tuổi thơ của bao thế hệ trẻ và đến nay vẫn chưa có hồi kết. Trong cuộc hành trình của mình, nhóm bạn đã giúp đỡ nhau, cùng nhau vượt qua khó khăn, từ đó tình bạn của họ ngày càng thắm thiết. Những cuộc phiêu lưu vô cùng thú vị và hấp dẫn mà hẳn bạn trẻ nào cũng nên xem. Nó gắn liền với những kí ức tuổi thơ bao người. Tác giả đã thành công khắc họa nên các nhân vật với mỗi người một nét riêng không ai giống ai. Nobita tuy nhút nhát, học dở nhưng tốt bụng, luôn giúp đỡ bạn bè đặc biệt là Shizuka, là nguyên nhân dẫn đến những cuộc hành trình thú vị. "Mèo ú" vô cùng thông minh, cùng nhóm bạn vượt qua những khó khăn gian khổ nhờ những bảo bối đến từ tương lai. Shizuka, thông minh và xinh đẹp, là hình mẫu lí tưởng của Nobita vì thế nên cậu chàng luôn luôn đem khoe với Shizuka về bảo bối mới hay giải cứu cô bé khỏi những nguy hiểm. Suneo, nhà giàu, hay khoe khoang nhưng vẫn tốt bụng, thỉnh thoảng vẫn hay bán đứng bạn bè nhưng không đáng để chê trách. Những lúc cần thiết nhất luôn xuất hiện kịp thời. Jaian, một con người lực lưỡng sức mạnh nếu không muốn nói là to béo:))Cậu hay ăn hiếp Nobita và các bạn những cũng góp một phần rất lớn trong cốt truyện cũng như trong các cuộc phiêu lưu. Lúc cần luôn dùng sức mạnh của mình để giúp đỡ bạn bè. Một nhân vật phụ khác của chuyện là Dekisugi, thông minh, học giỏi điển trai, là hình mẫu lí tưởng của bao cô gái. Vì quá hoàn hảo nên trong các cuộc phiêu lưu luôn giành hết spotlight nên các nhân vật khác bị mờ nhạt đặc biệt là nhân vật chính Nobita luôn hậu đậu, vụng về. Đây là bộ truyện của tuổi thơ vì vậy hãy đọc và tận hưởng nó nhé!

I read this in Japanese, which I am learning, so it may be even better than I know it to be (I'm reading for sense, and if the manner in which something is written is particularly clever or funny, I won't get it. Not a chance).

I found it light-hearted, fun, and engaging. I wish (because I've learned them!) there were more Kanji; many's the time I would dutifully look up hiragana in Google Translate to realise I knew the word perfectly well if only I'd seen the Kanji for it. But I understand that these are written for younger readers who recognize spoken Japanese but who have not yet learned the Kanji (and the syllables are written down for them in small characters). It's a real trick trying to find writing which appeals to adult Japanese learners, uses Kanji as much as possible, but isn't too complicated, so that's not a complaint, that's just a problem with fit for me that's always the case.

I've happily ordered the next three volumes; I'm sure I'll be reading Doraemon (and hopefully recognizing some words solely by sound) for a long while to come.

Note: I have written a novel (not yet published), so now I will suffer pangs of guilt every time I offer less than five stars. In my subjective opinion, the stars suggest:

(5* = one of my all-time favourites, 4* = really enjoyed it, 3* = readable but not thrilling, 2* = actually disappointing, and 1* = hated it. As a statistician I know most books are 3s, but I am biased in my selection and end up mostly with 4s, thank goodness.)

I loved the interaction between Nobita and Doraemon. if feels fresh to read it in English because I am used to watching and listening to Doraemon in Japanese. I still love the story and I would definitely recommend this book series to whoever loves Doraemon. There is a lot of dreams of mankind packed in this book and it's interesting to imagine what it would be like to have Doraemon in our world today.
Also realizing that some of the technology has been already made, I'm excited to live in our future.

This story is about Doraemon and Nobita’s adventure. As well as including their friends from school which are Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo. Doraemon has a pocket that allows him to grab any fun and useful items to help his friends on a daily basis. In my opinion, it is very interesting and entertaining to read stories about Doraemon, the content is very creative and unexpected since Doraemon is a robot from the 22nd century and has many advanced tools that are useful to his friends.
