Trust him despite the devastating past ... and an inexplicable and increasingly frightening present. Whatever secret Clint is hiding, it's changed him. Terri Blackstock is a New York Times best-seller, with over seven million books sold worldwide.. She has had over thirty years of success as a novelist.

Terri spent the first twelve years of her life traveling in a U.S. Air Force family. She lived in nine states and attended the first four years of school in The Netherlands. Because she was a perpetual “new kid,” her imagination became her closest friend. That, she believes, was the biggest factor in her becoming a novelist. She sold her first novel at the age of twenty-five, and has had a successful career ever since.

In 1994 Terri was writing romance novels under two pseudonyms for publishers such as HarperCollins, Harlequin, Dell and Silhouette, when a spiritual awakening prompted her to switch gears. At the time, she was reading more suspense than romance, and felt drawn to write thrillers about ordinary people in grave danger. Her newly awakened faith wove its way into the tapestry of her suspense novels, offering hope instead of despair. Her goal is to entertain with page-turning plots, while challenging her readers to think and grow. She hopes to remind them that they’re valued by God and that their trials have a purpose.

What a truly annoying main character. For claiming to be a Christian, she is so self absorbed she could be a role of Brawny towels. She thinks the world revolves around her. Her "fiance" wants to do the "right thing" and sees beyond himself to how what he does affects others and is willing to put himself in harms way to make the world a better place. She, on the other hand, is all about me, me, me, woe is me, I am upset, I am hurt, you made me feel bad. I almost stopped reading because she was driving me nuts.
There was a second small character that also had the same problem.

This was my favourite of the series so far. This was filled with action and suspense. There was a lot of the mystery I guessed correctly, but Terri still threw me with a twist at the end.

I liked Clint a lot. Sherry I found harder to like, mainly because of her feeling sorry for herself most of the book. I adored Sam and actually like the parts between him and Madeline the best (even though it was more insta-love which I generally don't enjoy).

The theme of forgiving as God forgives, and God being faithful when we are not, was delivered strongly in this story.

Terri's latest works are better, but this was still a good suspense which I really liked.

BLIND TRUST is not my favorite Terri Blackstock novel. I enjoyed the author's Cape Refuge series and the stand-alone book "Emerald Windows". In Blind Trust I simply could not make myself like the heroine, Sherry. For much of the book she can not see beyond herself and is selfish. I wanted to shake some sense into her. The premise of the book is interesting. It just needed a better main character.

Terri Blackstock is a wonderful author! This is one of her older books, and as good as it is her newer writing is better.

Eight months ago, Clint disappears just two weeks before his wedding with Sherry, with no explanation he was just gone. And now he's back still without an explanation for why he bailed. Sherry is understandably hurt, angry and distrust the man she thought she knew.

The action is fast paced with a lot of action. I thought I had a couple of things figured out but in typical Blackstock fashion she has a couple of expected twists.

One of the things that is really neat about this series, Second Chances, is what Terri shares at the beginning of each book in the series. She shares how when she wrote them early in her career she compromised her beliefs in the stories. Later in her career she was given the rights back to these books and the opportunity (The Second Chance) to retell the stories.

A wonderful story. The first person who reads this review and emails me at books@magnusonhouse.com with your mailing address I'll send you my copy of this book.

This was okay. Entertaining, but also a little aggravating. Sherry boardered on unlikable because she tended to whine constantly. I was pretty over her by the end.

Two weeks before their wedding, Sherry’s fiancée vanished with no explanation. For eight months she worried over him, hoping for some explanation, some communication. Now he has returned, with the thinnest of explanations and a declaration of undying love. How can Sherry trust someone who ran out on her and broke her heart?

In Blind Trust, Terri Blackstock’s third novel in the Second Chances series, Sherry must struggle between her feelings of love and her sense of abandonment. She longs for a logical explanation from Clint that will make everything okay – like, he was captured by crazed aborigines and hauled away to an island at spearpoint. But she comes to believe that Clint stood her up, practically leaving her at the altar.

Despite her sense of grief, Sherry must confront the fact that she dearly loves Clint and wants things to work. But the love of her life is acting strangely – and bringing his new friend, Sam, everywhere he goes. Life turns upside down when Clint kidnaps Sherri and her roommate, dragging them away on an unexplained trip that strikes fear into the hearts of both women. Still Clint provides no explanation for his disappearance, or even for her imprisonment. And Clint must watch the love in her eyes become anger, fear, and distrust.

Terri Blackstock combines some of the more criminal elements I enjoy in this primarily romance novel, heightening the suspense and tension within the storyline. However, too much of the story is told in the form of the flashback; Sherry finding he was gone, Clint remembering why he left, and both recalling their first meetings. The flashbacks break the flow and drama of the story, making it feel more disjointed. The break in structure was even more noticeable because it came in the middle of such a tense storyline.

I also enjoyed the connection between the four novels in the series. Unlike most series, the protagonists change with each book, but since most of the characters are the same, we still have a strong sense of continuity. For instance, the second novel is based around the theme park one of the main characters from "Invalid Entry" bid to build. That contractor is Sherry’s brother, and Sherry’s roommate was an animator who played a central role in book two, "When Dreams Cross". Furthermore, her roommate goes on to become the roommate of the main character in the final novel, and that same main character plays a definitive role in the escape scene of Blind Trust. I enjoy the centralized characterizations along with the different protagonists, because it gave the author so much more to work with – and allowed her to keep the ‘happy ever after’ she was looking for in each story.

The romantic portions of the novel and the criminal portions meld well together, with the spiritual aspect wrapping the entire package and drawing it together. Sherry’s faith in both her earthly and her Heavenly Father waiver as she struggles through her crisis. Only with divine help does she manage to fit her life together again.

Written in 1990, this mystery involves preventing a massive embezzlement using a weakness in a bank's automated system. At the time this book was written, this was a relatively new type of crime, which may have helped garner an Anthony nomination for the author.

A bank official hires PI Catherine Sayler to track down a bank employee who has vanished and is suspected of plotting to use his knowledge of the system's weakness to pull off a major heist when payment for a corporate takeover enters the banks coffers in 2 weeks. The suspect is closely tied to a group of Vietnam Vets from Modesto, and finding him involves delving into highly traumatic past events.

The San Francisco setting is inherently appealing, and the writing is solid.

As a woman, I did not appreciate the way that the men in this book treated Sherry at all. Assuming that they know what is best for her without asking her, and just waltzing back into her life and expecting her to forgive is unacceptable. I get it was a tough situation, but pushing yourself back on her the minute you arrive back in town is NOT acceptable. Think about what she has been through. I did not like this one at all. I've enjoyed some of Terri's other books, but this is definitely not my favorite. Not sure if I'll finish the series.

I tried to like this book, and Blackstock had me hooked on the first page. She's an exceptional writer, but for me, these characters weren't likeable or believable. The plot kept me turning pages, but I disliked the protagonists and antagonists. I just couldn't connect. At first, I liked that I couldn't quite figure out where the plot was going, but maybe that was the problem. I finally gave up and couldn't finish. This book won't stop me from picking up another Terri Blackstock book. She's too good of a writer. This book just wasn't my cup of tea.

Things I liked:
Honestly, I liked the pacing of this book. It is interesting and there are multiple twists and turns (something I don’t see in a lot of Christian fiction). I was interested in the story and what happened.

What I hated:
I’ll be honest, I wanted to strangle the central character. Maybe it was because I listened to the audiobook version, but she came off as super whiny to me. It seemed like she frequently was against her boyfriend for selfish reasons (these are paraphrased)—“Oh, I know other people might die, but you shouldn’t testify you have to stay with meeee so you won’t die—“ or “I would have done something different in my father’s place—I have no other solutions, but I hate him for not having a different way to fix this!”
I wish she’d been either a more supportive character or one that got a Christ make over during the story.

not her best.

This took me a long time to read. For some reason it didn’t draw me in. I think Sherry’s childish, selfish behavior made me not like her. I know that it was part of the book but I’ve met people like her and I can’t be around them too long because they drag me down. There have been times I’ve been negative too and I hated myself and well as the person who I felt wronged me. It’s an ugly place full of self-pity. I think I didn’t want to be reminded of how I was.
It’s just that even with the truth all around her, the boyfriend declaring his love she chose not to be liege, not to pray, not to turn to God.
All the time after time situations of danger got old. Blackstock novels have always been a guaranteed good read. This time it was just ok.

This is my favorite from the Second Chances series by Terri Blackstock. Sherry Grayson has picked up the pieces from her broken life when Clint Jessup abandoned her eight months before on the eve of their wedding. Now he's back with an element of danger and urgency which has no explanation. While I enjoyed the entire series, this one is edge of your seat thrilling to the very end. Plot twists, romance and reconciliations, and most of all the God of second chances in control reminds us that love is forgiveness and understanding. I highly recommend this book (and series) to anyone looking for Christian romantic suspense. Yes it does exist!!!

Clint Jessup stands Sherry Grayson up two weeks before their marriage. His only explanation was that he needed to write a book. Just as suddenly as he leaves, he shows back up 8 months later, hoping to pick up where things left off. Sherry still has deep feeling for Clint, but wants nothing to do with him. There is an obvious secret hidden in the behaviors of Clint but he just asks Sherry to trust in him. Trust is the very thing that he lost and cannot regain.

I found this novel a little too far fetched for my tastes. I understand the realistic plot, but the details and explanations were a stretch for me. Good ending but the flow was a little up and down.

this is another review of mine that disappeared. This was an ebook from the library and I read the series one after another and was written sometime ago. (On thing I like about ebooks you can read earlier stories that are not in print anymore). This was a drama and mystery. Sherry was in the series from the beginning with her brother Wes, she has a relationship with her dad as Wes did not. Sherry's dad has a major part in this story and the result of his decisions causes doubt and confusion as the chapters reveal his part with Clint.

I HAVE SO ENJOYED THE FIRST THREE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES!!!!

I have loved getting to know and learn more about these friends and family members!!! In this one, Blind Trust, Clint and Sherry are days away from their wedding when Clint disappeared and Sherry thinks he has given up on them. Eight months later he comes home and tries to get Sherry to understand and forgive him. God is so good and gracious with second chances, which is what this series is all about. Come enjoy!!!!! C:o)

Somehow I just didn't fall in love with this story like the others in the series. I listened to the auido version. I think that was most of the problem. I couldn't stand the main character being so whiny. She doesn't think of anyone but herself. The reader is good, but I just didn't care for her with this story line. I was listening at work and found myself drifting away from the story. I just kept losing interest because I didn't like the character.

Two weeks before he was to marry Sherry Grayson, Clint Jessup disappeared without a trace. Now, suddenly, eight months later, he's back with no word of explanation. Only an impossible request: "Trust me."

Battle between good and evil. Tense scenes and fast-paced reading made this an excellent read. I understood Sherry and hurt for Clint. Characters were well-developed, with an arch that made the story very good. Bible verses sprinkled into the story added another level. I loved it.

Fright, flight, or fight?

Sherry & Clint were supposed to be married. Then he witnessed a murder & disappeared for eight months. What's a girl to do? Then, just as she hardened her heart & started to move on, Clint is back & the shooter is after them both now. They hide in various places. I laughed when one place's decor was described as rustic neglect. There are plenty of plot twists and betrayals along the way, but also exoneration and forgiveness.

An exciting story of an abandoned fiancée Sherry who thinks he (Clint) left because he didn't love her. But his whole reason for disappearing was to keep her safe from folks who might hurt her if he was still around. It brings up themes of making assumptions about someone motives, trusting them, despite appearances, trusting in God to keep them safe, and forgiveness of those you feel have betrayed you.

A bit better than the previous books in this series but not much. The story was good, but the characters ruin it. Sherry is so absorbed in her hurt and fears of Clint to the point she is unlikable. I got very tired of the whining and fear she had. Being a Christian, she might have had a little more trust in the Lord and prayers for protection.

I think I'll skip the last book in this series. I'm afraid it will be another disappointment.

I love Terri Blackstock I have read 25 of her novels! She is a great story teller and has twists that I don’t see coming. This novel is one of the older ones (1997) that I missed
Although Second Chances is not my favorite series, I certainly look forward to the next Blackstock novel!

This is more like 2 1/2 stars for me. The first 2 books in this series were incredibly sappy and predictable. This one is still pretty sappy, but seems to be improving. The plot is at least more interesting, although still pretty predictable. Hoping for good things with the final book in the series.

I usually love Blackstock's books, but this was a bit disappointing. I simply couldn't figure out why Clint loved Sherry. I didn't like her at all. She's supposed to be a believer, but she doesn't trust God. She's constantly angry. And she makes foolish decisions. You'd think Clint would have been relieved to discover her true personality on time to be spared from marrying her!

I really did not like the main character, Sherry. She was whiny and annoying. Also, I had a hard time picturing the other main character, Clint, as a youth pastor.
The story was ok. I listened to this as an audio book and also did not care for the voice actor. I have enjoyed many other Terri Blackstock books, but not this book.

I enjoyed the story and would have given it a 5 except for the main character Sherry. I found her tiresome and mentally throttled her multiple times. If not for wanting to find out how the story ended, I would have not finished the book.
