Ah, I had such a hard time connecting with this book. It was funny, at times. But that didn’t seal the deal. I debated between a 2 and 3 star rating but most of the time I wasn’t feeling the book so I went with two stars. Anyway, this was The Devil Wears Prada with a male boss. But I dunno I didn’t care for that.
Special thanks to Edelweiss+ and the Publishers for this review copy.
This was a very weird book. The plot is literally The Devil Wears Prada to the letter, just with a male boss and a lot more misogyny. It was written decently but didn't feel... believable, I suppose? The characters were incongruent. The boss in question is apparently the absolute best in his niche field, but he acts like an idiotic frat boy all the time. Our main character apparently struggles with pleasing everyone, but she has no problem standing up for herself early on. The side characters felt odd to me, and I didn't really come to care about them. It was fine overall and a good light read, just nothing spectacular.
This was a fun lighthearted read. This made me laugh out loud and cringe several times while reading.
It's amazing what the character had to endure for your job position. It seems unbelievable but it is a true story. My coworker had to go through something similar to this and I've passed the book along to her knowing she can relate. I think any women working in a male driven, cut throat environment can relate to crazy office politics such as these.
If you are looking for an entertaining book, this is one to pick up.
This book is definitely a retelling if The Devil Wears Prada. I feel like this book wasn’t the most original thing in the world. I feel like it was really slow. Most of this book in my opinion you could pull from TDWP. In away, I didn’t enjoy it, most likely because TDWP is my favorite movie in the world. It definitely was a good short read, but I wouldn’t pick it up again. I also feel like this book was really slow and didn’t have enough outside of work life. And I feel like frank was the biggest jerk in the world. This review was really choppy I’m sorry
I am afraid that the bosses and the business portrayed in this juicy but horrifying book are all too true. I wouldn't like the work but couldn't stop reading. The super rich and super celebrity worlds are awfully entitled and I'm guessing a lot of this book is based on reality and that doesn't say much good about our society. I don't understand the negative reviews, I found this fascinating and very topical, and fun in watching a car crash way.
I enjoyed this book. Many work environments have an egotistical maniac. Because of this, I found the book interesting ..... wondering what he’d do next and how Paris attempted to smooth things out along with trying to balance work and her personal life. Besides the main storyline, her relationship with her father, friends, dating life was well written & fun to read.
I really enjoyed this story. The main character is relatable and refreshingly flawed. It was so interesting watching her crazy journey with a nut job boss! The writing made me feel like I was hearing about everything from a friend. Hard to put it down!
Meh... I don't understand how a narrator can get away with having all her male voices sound like bitchy valley girls. Even neverminding the questionable narrator there just isn't much good about this book, but neither is it entirely terrible.
Meh. It was an easy read. Resembles The Devil Wears Prada only in rich demanding boss pushes executive assistant to the brink. And executive assistant gets the person who should have her job, the job. And she gets her dream job.
