Gladie is back with the fifth installment of the hilarious Matchmaker Mysteries series.
It’s still up in the air whether Gladie really has her psychic grandmother’s “gift,” but she’s determined to finally give matchmaking her best shot. She’s also determined to give her new relationship with hottie Police Chief Spencer Bolton a shot…that is, if she can find him.
Despite her good intentions, Gladie is being sued by a matchmaking client, but even with bankruptcy around the corner, that’s not her biggest problem. There seems to be a rash of dead senior citizens popping up at the tea shop owner’s family home. Gladie is recruited to find the murderer, but this time she may have met her match—and if she’s not careful, it could be her last.
“Will no doubt delight fans and new readers alike.”—RT Book Reviews
Perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Crusie, and Katie MacAlister, Elise Sax’s wickedly funny Matchmaker Mysteries series proves that the road to love comes with a few dead ends.
Elise Sax worked as a journalist for fifteen years, mostly in Paris, France. She took a detour from journalism and became a private investigator before trying her hand at writing fiction. She lives in Southern California with her two sons. An Affair to Dismember is her first novel.
Have you ever just needed a book that makes you laugh and forget your world? This would be the book to help you. I laughed and laughed until I was crying. Gladie is known for finding bodies and Spencer, the town police chief, just expects her to be wherever trouble is brewing. The two of them try the entire book to get some alone time but the old bitties are always interrupting. The town is full of kooky characters blaming everything on Gladie and her friends just know to ride the wave of their crazy friend. This series is similar to a soap opera in that it continues with each book. I'd like to say jump in and start at any book but I can't because Gladie's story keeps going, just with a different dead body. This isn't your normal cutesy cozy mystery but a fabulous comedy with multiple story lines and a hot police chief. Thanks to Elise for my advanced copy, my review was written voluntarily to support one of my favorite authors.
From Fear to Eternity by Elise Sax sparkles with Ms. Sax's trademark humor and mystery skills.
All of our favorite quirky characters are back along with Gladie and Spencer. I can always count on Ms. Sax to provide a good mystery and a lot of laughter as I follow Gladie around town as she solves another murder. The mystery kept me guessing until the reveal and the laughter along the way made this an afternoon of reading fun.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Poor, poor Gladie! Nothing can go right for her, but it makes it oh so funny for me to read! From Fear to Eternity is filled with laughs (lots & lots) mystery, and romance. Elise Sax tops my one click list. I will read anything she writes and never be disappointed!
I have loved Elise Sax's books from the first one. I continue to be surprised at how she manages to make each successive book funnier than the last. This book is about Gladie, who has moved in with her Grandmother in order to learn her matchmaking business. The only problem with Gladie is = well = Gladie is the epitome of the "everything that can go wrong, will go wrong," law. Gladie is also a magnet for dead bodies. She keeps stumbling over them or, being blackmailed into finding their killer or killers. Meanwhile, Gladie is still trying very hard to get into her newest man, Spencer's, pants. Spencer is determined to 'connect' with Gladie, too. He just wishes that they would STOP being interrupted by all the chaos that surrounds Gladie, her life and all the dead bodies that keep popping up around her! Do Not Miss This Book!
Gladie is at it again finding dead bodies but will be this be too much for Spenser to handle. What can go wrong next for Gladie? Read on in the latest in the series.
Well, Gladie is back and while things are looking good on the relationship side, she is still struggling with her Match Making Gift (her grandmother swears she has it) and she has no car. And it's cold. As she is forced to catch a ride when she can, she leave a trail of destruction behind her. And when she goe with Ruth (teashop curmudgeon) to visit Ruth's sisters, she lands right in the middle of an senior citizen death trap. Now if she could just help Ruth out by solving the murders, oh, and hiding the bodies. What could go wrong?
I can't help it. I find myself laughing out loud at these books. The town is crazy and everyone seems to be OK with it. Even Gladie's over the top antics seem normal in Cannes. Anyway, if you like a good laugh I suggest you visit Gladie and her grandmother.
Gladys Burger is up to her eyeballs in murder and mayhem! Her new relationship with hottie police chief Spencer Bolton is starting out a little rough. Poor Gladie, can she solve the murders and keep her boyfriend ? Of course because she has the gift as her Grandmother tells her.
I so love this series there's lots of mystery, lots of laughs, and lots of romance. This series is Perfect! 🙌 Just preordered the next book in this series. Can't wait til June!
For a flailing matchmaker/amateur sleuth, Gladie has had a hard time finding love. She gets her match and solves the crimes all in due time and it makes for another excellent book. If you're looking for a mature, serious read then this isn't for you. However, if you're looking for a crazy, laugh out loud, make you spit out your drink read, then this is for you.
I absolutely love this series by Elise Sax. Poor Gladie is inept at so many things, but she, like her grandmother, has a heart of gold. She also has a knack for solving murders, which drives Police Chief Spencer nuts. Crazy stuff happens to her constantly but she doesn't give up. She muddles through, solves the case, and then life goes back into balance. . . For a while. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. I am a big Elise Sax fan!
I love this series ... Elise Sax makes me laugh, giggle, snort and shake my head in that "groaner" way of good "groaning" humor. Love the antics of Lucy and Ethel in "I Love Lucy"? Then you'll love Gladie and the weird, larger than life, psychotic, realistic, down-right absurd characters that show up for the wild ride. Read these ...
4.5 stars ⭐️ Favorite of the series so far! I just love Gladdie. The ending made me so happy. Only reason not a 5 star is I wasn’t completely invested in the murder mystery this time. I felt like there was so much going on that sort of got in the way of the “who done it” aspect of the book. But I loved everything else 😀
This was the first in this series that wasn’t all that bad. It helped to have lots of Ruth in it and the focus on getting things started with Spencer now that she has chosen him. The case though is still so far fetched as the previous ones and I hated how Gladie and Ruth mistreated the bodies. It’s just a no-go for me. Let’s see how this series progresses.
I'm having such a great time with this series that I'm binge reading! Love the characters, the humor is excellent, and another good mystery. After 5 books I still can't get enough of these stories. SO MUCH FUN!😀
The stuff that happens to Gladie is ludicrous but with how crazy Cannes and it’s citizens are it kind of makes it a bit more believable. I also like that there isn’t a continuous love triangle because that can be tiresome
I needed a book that I could use as a palate cleanser and this series is a go-to. I know it’ll be fun, wacky and a little murderous. I’m a big fan of Elise Sax. She always manages to put a smile on my face.
I freaking love this series... and I know I say this every book review but I love Spencer lol! I love this whole universe ... such a great ending. #takemymoney
