Rate this book
Jake Stone is a bounty hunter working out of Denver. Over the years the forty-something-year-old manhunter has excelled to the point that he has been given a Special Deputy U. S. Marshal’s badge, allowing him to be called upon when a deputy might not otherwise be available. This badge also opens a lot of doors that might otherwise be closed. Stone never hesitates to use that position to his advantage. ★ In this first episode, Stone rides into a sleepy little town in northern New Mexico. He’s not sure he’s on the right trail of the escaped killers until one of them attempts to bushwhack him. Following a long chase, he is forced to kill one after taking them into custody. After chaining the surviving prisoner in the town’s ramshackle jail, he meets a Mexican lady who has a personal vendetta against the killer. The hanging she anticipates taking place is foiled when the inept town law allows two lowlifes to facilitate a jailbreak in hopes the prisoner will share the loot from a bank robbery. As Stone prepares to track this killer for the second time, the Mexican lady insists on accompanying him, stating that she intends to kill this animal herself. At first, Stone refuses, but she is not to be denied. She states she will either ride alongside or follow behind him. Given no choice, he relents. As they chase this desperado along the Canadian River in northern New Mexico there are times Stone is pleased that the woman is alongside him. Other times, he's not so sure. All in all, it makes for one incredible and deadly pursuit.Ride along with Jake Stone as he encounters ever-present danger and occasional romance in what was once the wild west frontier.

ESCAPED THE HANGMAN

Jake Jakeee Stone, Special Deputy U.S. Marshal with his new possibly partner Maria, are on the owl hoot trail searching for Dobbs. A murderer, bank robber, bushwacker and he escaped the noose, by breaking out of jail. On the run to dig up the bank money he stole from his last bank robbery.
I love Jake Stone a no nonsense lawman. He uses logic when he's tracking these special owlhoots. He thinks as if he's the pursued what and where they would go. ALWAYS alert and aware of his surroundings, takes nothing for granted.
Drama, nail biting situations that leave you joining Jake Stone, as he tracks the dinkle berries through deserts, rocky terrain where your steady sure footed, steed could slip break their legs. Jake's gulla wasn't exactly handsome, but he knows his rider and will give him all the speed he can muster. Jake always takes care of his horse first before he takes care of his own needs..
You will enjoy reading the adventures of JAKE STONE SPECIAL DEPUTY U.S.MARSHAL...ride the river with him😉🍺

Bad Day for The Hangman. The first book in the Stone: Bounty Hunter Series, is a horse opera written in the style of all the great western authors—Grey, L’Amour, Leonard, Sort, et al. Whereas many modern use gratuitous, graphic sex to get and hold the readers’ attention, Breyland does it with solid western action. The characters that he’s created are lifelike and believable. The plot, the storyline, is like what might appear in a history book: suspension of disbelief is no challenge for the reader. Bad Day for The Hangman isn’t a page turner, it’s a page burner. It’s a book that I couldn’; t put down once I started reading. Don’t even think about starting, if you don’t have the time to finish this book in one go. Breyland has sold me on Stone, the Bounty Hunter and I’m headed on over to Amazon to buy and download Canyon of The Gun Book 2 in the series.

This one started off a little slow, but gained a positive momentum very quickly. I was, once again, impressed with Mr. Breland's very knowledgeable writing ability.

Five stars and more. Great storyline and I was impressed with the author's ability to keep my complete attention, after a very short lack of interest. The story was very captivating, as the characters were very well set in their a five mode, once the storylines hit their full speed ahead mode

I do recommend this story, as the settings were very reflective of the western era intended by the author's expert knowledge of what the read is looking for.

I will be purchasing the second novel in this series, as I am definitely impressed with Bounty Hunter Stone!

Not a bad story, but a hero who keeps being bonked on the head does not inspire the reader too much.
Otherwise quite a decent tale and worth sticking with.
