Bill

The women in my life are all temporary. Things are simple. Charm her, enjoy her, discard her, and repeat. Once she hears my family name her focus is on the size of my wallet and she can't be trusted.

Until Lauren shows up at my doorstep one night and I am suddenly in charge of the family company. I need to save the family legacy and ten thousand jobs. I can't do it without her. She's beautiful, sassy, brilliant, and brutally honest. She can't stand me.

I need her. In my bed, in my life, as my wife. Everything's going according to plan . . . Until, she disappears.

Lauren

I fell for him as soon as I saw him last week, all of him, the full package.

Until, he sent me back to his condo to get rid of the girl--the naked one in his bed. He didn't even know her name.

Today he's the new CEO, and he's screwing up. Royally. I told him what I thought of him.

Again.

Now, he won't take no for an answer. When he makes a fairy tale proposal in front of hundreds, I can't say no. Together we have a plan to save the company.

But he's keeping secrets, and I uncover the worst one.

Why romance? Because we all need a chance to escape doing the next load of laundry.

We deserve a chance to enjoy love, laughs, and intrigue, and yes, fear, heartbreak, and tears, all without having to leave the house.

If you can read my books without feeling all of these then I haven’t done my job right.

I tried.
I really did.
But I vowed to myself that I will no longer torture my mind with stories that don't appeal to me.
No more pushing through, gritting my teeth to the end.
If I don't like it by the middle, it's time to give up.
But I tried.
I want to make that clear.
However, as much as I enjoyed the hero... the author did an incredible job with his character... the heroine belonged in the crapper. She suffered from foot-in-mouth syndrome and did nothing to fix that. She made insane assumptions, expected fidelity and 100% disclosure from someone she wasn't even dating. Yeah, it was clear he was interested, but they weren't together. What he does or doesn't do isn't your business and you have no right to be mad at him for it. On top of that, her attitude was atrocious. To Her Damn Boss! Hated this chick SO MUCH!! Her apologies for her misconceptions and her bias were lackluster and if it were me, if I were the hero, she wouldn't be getting not one more iota of my attention. As the reader, I can say 'good day'.

So I'm done.

The Billionaire's Trust is a wonderful debut novel, ensuring I will be picking up the future books in Erin Swann’s Covington Billionaires series.

The Billionaire’s Trust is one of those books that pulls you in deep, refusing to let go until you have finished the story. A one sit read, for many, I am sure, as putting the book down is an extremely difficult task. There were many points where I told myself ‘just one more chapter’ and one quickly became two, before two became three, and so on until I had finished the book. It sucked me in, and I could not put it down.

Billionaire books are a dime a dozen in contemporary romance, yet we never seem to get bored with the theme. By this point, I’m noticing certain elements that are consistent throughout all such books, but so long as something more is added, I’m happy. With The Billionaire’s Trust, we do get that something a little bit different, something to make the book a unique read.

Whether you’re looking for an interesting storyline, great characters, or steamy scenes, this book will deliver something for you. The storyline is intriguing, with more being added to it as the story progressed. I’ll be honest by saying I was unsure at the start, I wasn’t quite sure what direction the book was going to take, but once things started moving I found myself pulled in by so many different elements that were introduced. The characters were a lot of fun, with certain characters having me laughing out loud at their actions. I’ll be honest once again by saying I wasn’t completely taken by our leading lady, but I’ll get back to that shortly. As a whole, though, I adored the cast. The steamy scenes… well, they were certainly steamy. Each individual element pulls you in, the collective making for a great story.

As I just mentioned, though, I wasn’t entirely content. There were times that I wanted to grab our female lead and give her a good shake. I understood towards the end of the story why she acted the way she did, why certain things were important to the story, but that doesn’t lessen the annoyance that occurred early on in the story. There were times where her insecurities seemed a bit much, and I found it difficult to believe our male lead didn’t just turn his back on her. As I said though, by the end of the story, I understood.

I also felt as though things moved a little bit too fast. Not in terms of the storytelling, the storytelling was perfectly fine. Rather, the timeline of events. I’m a sucker for slow burn romances, I like it when events occur across a huge time frame – for me, and my personal preference, things moved a bit quickly in this one. Such is just a personal preference, though.

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this one. Picking up the second Covington Billionaires book is a must.

DNF at like 42%. Can’t believe I even made it that far. The relationship here was just way too fast and unbelievable that it wasn’t fun to read. I mean, I know insta-love is a trope but it wasn’t even that! It’s like these two started acting like they’re in a full relationship after speaking 3-4 times. And it weirdly read as anti-women? The FMC called other women “sluts”, “whores”, and “harlots” multiple times. When it’s like….Lauren, girl, you wanted to jump the guys bones after 1 elevator ride WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?! Anyway, this felt like a book where the spice scenes were written first and then they just cobbled together some lukewarm story to get from A-B. I’m all for smut for the sake of being smutty, but even I have a limit.

This is my first book by Erin Swann and I didn't know what to expect, but after reading this book, I know I am definitely going to be reading more from this author. The Billionaire's Trust is a steamy, enthralling romance story with a smooth flowing, well-thought out plot that keeps you interested and turning the pages, well-developed characters, secrets, a few twists and turns, and ridiculously hot scenes.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

I DNFed this book because I knew within the first three chapters that the heroine was weak and far too emotionally driven to give the hero a run for his money. Where's the fun in romance novels where the heroine doesn't even put up a fight, or if she does, she gives in way too easily because "he's heartbroken, I just want to make him feel better".

Loved the beginning...Lauren and Bill’s romance was a lot more realistic than many other “Billionaire type romances” and I enjoy reading about their blossoming relationship. The only thing was I didn’t enjoy how there were several obvious moments where Lauren caught Bill checking out other women but didn’t say anything. Also, I ended up not finished the last part of the story because it felt dragged out. I finished about 2/3 of the book....but I stopped when it felt like Lauren and Bill seemed like they already had a nice stable relationship going on and it seemed like conflicts would come out of nowhere ruining it.

Bill preferred 1 night relationships. Lauren had major trust issues with men. Bill went through a lot with Lauren trying to show her he only wanted her. No matter how he tried to convince her that he wouldn't treat her that way, she kept being his past into all their situations. Bill was far from perfect when it came to relationships, but he was willing to do anything to keep Lauren.
I felt Bill should have let Lauren go as a lover and became her friend, then he could've shown her he
could been trusted. The roommate Sandy, was too much in Lauren's personal business.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was really excited about reading this book. I really was. And at the beginning I was enjoying it. The problem is that the story started to slow down. It was dragging on.
Moreover, although I liked Bill, I could not stand Lauren. I was quite annoyed when she didn't stop thinking that Bill was cheating on her. Too repetitive.
A pity, but I am not that interested in the rest of the books from this series.

Some big plot mistakes, and I really didn’t like the mfc.

Wow that dragged in places. The beginning of the book is boring, the middle gets more interesting then the ending is just stupid! I was skimming a lot of pages just so I didn’t Dnf it. The mistakes spoil it as well. Bill makes several references comparing his sister not being allowed to run the company with the monarchy in the UK. The queen changed that law in 2013 so that if a girl is born first she will reign. It’s just one of many mistakes. Bill’s stepbrother who works at the company isn’t allowed to run it as he’s not actually a blood relative, but later on that changes when they find a trust from his dad that he has to be married. So they found that where? Why did no one know about that trust? Including his fathers lawyers! It’s ridiculous. Then that later changes again to he doesn’t have to be married. Oh good grief.

Bill is the the oldest son of a wealthy businessman and at first he’s a total d*ck. I really don’t need a whole description of women’s breasts and which he prefers! 🙈 I don’t want to read about loads of women having s*x with him either. 🙄 He’s really bitter and angry about women as they’re all after his money. Yeah of course they are.

Lauren is a bitter judgemental woman because her father was a gambler and cheater, she judges all men, especially rich ones like Bill. She works in the marketing department at Bill’s fathers company. When they first meet there’s instant chemistry between them, but I honestly didn’t feel it. After a tragic loss (Which no one seems to grieve over!) Bill has to take over the company. I didn’t understand this as he’s had nothing to do with the company before but his stepbrother did. As their ‘relationship’ progresses and they’re supposed to be in love, I still didn’t feel any chemistry. The s*x scenes are boring, and they never seem to talk to each other about anything.

There’s a huge misunderstanding between them and bitter and twisted Lauren doesn’t even try to talk to Bill about it. She takes off and leaves her job, without giving any notice. She’s supposed to be paying for her brothers drug rehab, so I don’t understand how she can just leave her job!

Not very well written with stupid mistakes.

People often question my opinion of something good. That was a good film, or play, or book. But I'll tell you how I gauge what makes something good in my eyes.
If I've sat through a two hour movie and was entertained, it was a good movie.
The same with books. I read from the start to the finish and didn't have the urge to just return it and move on to another book.
Ergo, this was a good book.

It was an enjoyable read. Yes, the story about needing to be married in order to inherit, isn't a new one, by any means, but the characters made it a decent read.
I will be reading the next Covington Billionaires books.

Bill Covington had happily led a playboy life, until the night Lauren Zumwalt turned up at his door to tell him his father had been in an accident.
On his death, Bill became the one thing he had never wanted to be. CEO.

Lauren had been smitten since the day they, literally, bumped into each other in the lobby of the Covington building and spilled coffee over his shoes.

He had no clue about being the CEO. His reputation didn't help, but Lauren laid it on the line and told him, in no uncertain terms, that he was the problem.
Operation Tide was born.

A whirlwind romance, followed by an engagement, saw Bill and Lauren happier than they'd ever been, until one night Lauren finds out about the Billionaires Trust.
It had been written in an archaic age of propriety. Basically, not just the oldest Covington could take over the company, but the oldest 'married' Covington.
Lauren, who had jumped to all the wrong conclusions about Bill before, left everything behind and upped and disappeared.
Bill, who couldn't give a flying hoot about the company, only needed Lauren back in his life.
Now it was time to go get his girl.

Fell short for me

The entire book felt lackluster. I will say the beginning half was better than the last half, but that's still not saying much. And the characters were boring and annoying. I'm not one to dnf a book, but if I were, this would be one of those books.
Lauren was immature and untrusting over and over. And Bill was a wuss (Lauren's word in the book that I found fitting). The step brother Liam was predicable as was his mother and Uncle Garth was the only likeable character. But even he didn't seem to have any depth to him.
The writing seemed plain in comparison to books I have read and thoroughly enjoy reading and the author seems new and unsure of how to write a book.
I love to wrap myself up in an entire series and dive into the characters and their world and see how they all fit together and have their own story and come together in the end. I have read so many series, it's unreal. However, I am definitely stopping at the first book for this one. I just can't do more. It was that cringe worthy to me. But it could have been a good story had it had more substance and support of the characters. Too many times of felt like they were on their own and they were just clueless. So not my cup of tea at all.

04/18/22 update: I was talking to my book club girlfriend about this book and how horrible I thought it was written. And she was saying it was on her to read list too. As was the whole series. So I checked my want to read books, and found all the other books in the series have much higher ratings than this one. So I think I'm going to try the second book. And hope for the best. I'm really hoping it is so much better than this book. Because again, the rest of the series ratings look really good. So, in the interest of the series ratings overall and giving the author the benefit of the doubt after talking with my book club friend, I will give the second book at least a try. No promises though.

Before I read this book, I was reading a book I just couldn't get into. I was afraid this might be another book that I would have to suffer through, boy was I wrong. This book was such a wonderful treat as has me wanting to read again.

The main character Lauren is the only reason I had to take a star from the rating. Her irrational behavior had me not enjoying certain parts, but she was still a character that I liked.

Bill is swoonworthy in all ways. He was such a wonderful character and had me keeping devouring the pages to get more of him. I love him so much and I know he will be in my book boyfriend category now.

I loved how this book alternated between Lauren and Bill. It helped to get both sides of the story, especially in the rocky bits of the book. It also helps you learn who each of them truly are and the way they are thinking. I loved getting to know them more and experiencing everything as they do.

This was such a comforting and heartwarming read. It has its moments of suspense but even in those times, you will keep a smile on your face. I found myself going to work and just wanting to come home and read instead. I had to section out my reading and I really wish I could have devoured it sooner. It did make my days happier knowing I would get to go read soon!

I recommend this book to honestly anyone who can use a good fuzzy feeling book with some steamy scenes woven throughout the pages. Get ready for a rollercoaster of a ride, you will come out a better person on the other side!

Bill (H) was obsessed with big boobs. It was almost comical how many times he thinks about them in his POV.

The plot seemed simple but it ended up being OTT.
We are introduced to H when he’s about to shag a “big boob woman”. She tries to hide a camera to record him but he finds it and kicks her out.

H and h met on an elevator. It was pretty quickly InstaLove for h. She obsesses over him for a few days.

Her manager calls her late one night and makes her go over to his place because his dad was in a bad car accident. She gets there and he is hammered. She takes him to the hospital. He then tells her to go back to his place and get rid of the woman there. 🤦‍♀️ h does and the whole time she’s calling that woman names in her head.

Later we find out he was drugged. Not sure why this billionaire is not vetting his women better

Well, H and h enter into a relationship. He doesn’t tell her that he needs to be married to keep his CEO position. Her finding out is what causes the 3rd act breakup.
Then h is able to go off grid for a few weeks until he finds her.
No grovel, she takes him back right away and helps him win his company back.

I didn’t like h. Her body was always betraying her sexually. Gushing, leaking, etc….. all of them were listed.
She also giggled too much. Not sure why that annoyed me but it was mentioned so much. She’s also very judgy

Ohh yeah and the worst thing about this book- the dad died at the beginning and……nothing. There wasn’t any mention of a funeral, memorial, or really anything. It’s like the next day, they all moved on.

I have to say Erin Swann has a great way of telling a story, for my first book by her I totally enjoyed the whole story. The characters had great chemistry and some really fun interactions with each other but there was also a trust issue. Lauren Zumwalt is working at Covington Industries and loves the money but has the worst boss ever. On one of her mornings Lauren is getting coffee for the witch she literary run into one mouth watering man. Little does she know he is the CEOs son. Bill "William" Covington loves and respects his father but with his father is trying to convince him to come work for the company he is annoyed, Bill is standing firm he is not ready to join the company yet. Bill can't seem to get the girl who ran into him off his mind. When tragedy strikes Lauren is the one to track Bill down and turns his world upside down. These two have some great chemistry and have an instant attraction. But Lauren knows how these type are or does she? Lauren has hang up with trust issues Can Lauren learn to trust, will Bill be patient in his pursuit of Lauren.
I highly recommend this great book, it had parts that made me laugh out loud and then some parts that had me teary eyed. I highly recommend this great book a must read. I voluntary reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Lauren met Bill when she literally bumped into him carrying hot coffee. They both tried to reconnect, but it didn't happen according to their timeline.

They both continued on with their day-to-day lives until Lauren's shrew of a boss calls her in one evening to handle a situation with the CEO of the company who is Bill's dad. This reacquaints the two under less than ideal circumstances.

Once Bill becomes CEO, he depends on Lauren (a marketing exec) to rebrand him. They spend lots of time together which lays the basic ground work for this story.

I liked Bill's character a great deal he was so much more than met the eye.

I was less than happy with Lauren's behavior in several situations. She was quick to assume the worst instead of asking for clarification.

I enjoyed almost all things about this book; characters, dialogue and the supporting characters, especially Sandy! My only very small issue is that it was a bit long. Although the added length provided further insight into the feelings of both characters, I felt it was drawn out. To be clear it didn't necessarily take anything away from the story, but I am impatient and wanted to know what happened immediately.

This is my first book by this author, but I hope to read more. I highly recommend this book to all fans of this genre.

*** I was given a free copy of this book for an honest book review***

There are a little more sex scenes and emotional roller coaster of a ride with the drama than I prefer. However, this book contains a good story line.

William, Bill, Billy, B.D. is one sexy as hell, sweet, understanding, confident, and caring man. He is also a billionaire man-whore until he falls for Lauren.

Lauren, S.P. is business smart but is a complete idiot with severe emotional issues and insecurities. Thank goodness her downfalls do not fall over into her work life, just her personal relationship. Can Bill forgive Lauren for her insecurities and constantly accusing him of cheating or lying? Can Lauren fix his families companies issues and stop with the emotional roller coaster? The only thing these two really have going for each other is the sex, until...

SORRY NO SPOILERS ;) I still recommend reading this book because everyone's preferences are different and it has a good story line. #WTBReviews #wickedlytwistedbookreviews #WTBR

I loved this book, Lauren with bills making money tight gets the job of her dreams. A few weeks in its not so much of a dream and she's counting the days till she can leave. Bill has his own business as well as being pushed to join the family firm, still fighting that until fate takes a hand. A few ups and downs and some twists keep this exciting, I was gripped from the start till the end finishing it in just a few hours, though I had to sleep in the middle which was hard to put it down. I haven't read anything by this author until now but will definitely look out for more in this series. If you like something along a Cinderella theme then I suggest trying this, it isn't quite that but it is poor girl, rich guy with lots going on in between. Well written with a great plot and a fast but steady flow, the twists and turns keep it interesting but not too heavy and some light hearted moments to make you chuckle.

Lauren is stuck in a job with the boss from hell but the pay is the best in town for someone with her level of marketing skills. School loans, the high cost of living and paying her brother's rehab expenses mean she won't be leaving the company anytime soon. Since she was the last hired, she is also her bosses fetch it girl.

As heir to the Covington Corporation, Bill has no lack of female companionship. His dad wants him to follow in his footsteps but all Bill wants is to run his restaurant and work on his projects.

Lauren and Bill have a couple of encounters and there is instant attraction. When tragedy strikes and Lauren's boss can't be bothered to relay a message to Bill, it is Lauren who is there for him.

The story is well written, the characters nicely developed and the sex and romance hot. I'm anxious to follow the stories of the Covington siblings.

An ARC was provided by the author for an honest review.

romantic idea, characters sometimes came off poorly

The story behind this book is an interesting one and turns out to be quite a romantic idea. I liked the characters well enough and they were realistic.

I had a hard time getting through this book. The writing didn’t flow smoothly and there were plotlines in the book that were vaguely described while being talked about early on. Rather than make things mysterious , it just felt as if part of the story was missing at the time and felt ingenuine as it was blatantly obvious the author was trying to hide the actual plotline. There were repeated derogatory references toward women, calling them b*tches, and toward certain groups of people such as male models. These didn’t feel necessary as part of the book nor as something I’d expect the h and H of a romance book to say; it didn’t endear me to the characters at all and gave a negative picture of them.

There is Lauren who loves her job but hates her boss. She needs to stay in the job to help pay for her brother's rehab. She promised her mom. Then there is Bill, an alpha male who's dad wants him to be CEO of his company but he has other plans and projects he wants to finish first. When a tragic accident occurs, Bill is forced to take the helm. He uses woman and doesn't trust them. Thinks they are all gold diggers. When he accidentally meets Lauren, he can't stop thinking about her. He recognizes her talent and her ability to be blunt and honest. Things conspire against them though. Will Bill be able to trust a woman? Will Lauren be able to forgive him for his oversights? You'll need to read the book to find out. This is the first book I have read by Erin Swann. t had good character development and story line. Enjoy.

Fist book by author and will definitely read more

The storyline is funny, sweet and a little steamy. He is an alpha male who doesn’t trust anyone due to his wealth. Before the heroine is really introduced, he seems to be an one time and done guy. I will say I laughed at the scene where he threw to girls cell phone in his fish tank.

She is a girl who doubts herself as she is worn down by a horrible boss and her brother’s rehab bills. They finally met and twice he portrays himself as a jerk and she jumps to conclusions and hates the guy.

Then she gets a backbone and is the only person who calls him out for his crap and there starts the love story.

The storyline was fun and the book is easy to read.

Once you start the series you have to keep reading. I only wish the next book had an audible as well since I like to buy both so you can read quicker and always be reading or listening to a great story.

Ugly Business

Bill Covington had a less than flattering view of most women. He enjoyed their company for a few weeks, and believing they were all after his money, he would move on to greener pastures. That was until he met Lauren.

Lauren worked in the marketing and PR department of his company and was hoping not to be there long, since her immediate boss was a toxic person. Lauren found Bill attractive, but thought he was a terrible womanizer.

The truth was a different story as it seemed that there was always someone out to get Bill and make him look bad. Fortunately there was an attractive woman that Bill respected in his marketing department to improve his image along with that of the company.

Whoever is out to get Bill isn’t going to give up that easy though, and any chance he may have at a real relationship is on the line.

This was a pretty good story and I enjoyed it very much. Lots of twists in the plot.

Erin Swann's first book is a good read, it's certainly a steamy romance with a lot of chemistry between the main characters. There was a few moments of 'oh no he didn't!' but i was pleased that they sorted their s*** out. communication seems to be this couples fail point within the book.
Bill - is a smart man most of the time, he is able to work out when woman are trying to use and abuse him the phones in the tank was a nice touch.. He loves that Lauren tells him like she sees it, especially when most try to kiss his as*
Lauren - I could just imagine Lauren rolling her eyes when she has to go to Bills condo to throw out the naked girl in his bed. Lauren is Sassy but incredibly insecure and untrusting of men, do we blame her with all the men that screwed up in her life?!
A good read and looking forward to book 2.

This is my first time reading a book by this Author. I absolutely loved this book. It was entertaining and had me up all night reading the book straight through. It was about Lauren, Bill and the Covington family business. It was about relationships i.e Lauren and her comedy minded and fiercely loyal roommate Sandy, Lauren and her distrustful romantic relationship with Bill (by the way the distrust was unfounded) and Bill's relationship with his family, friends and the family business. So many twists and turns in this book that will keep you mind trying to figure out what could happen next. This book will not disappoint. And the romantic relationship was sweet, sexy and well fought for. I highly recommend this book. It was worth every penny. I look forward to reading more from this Author Erin Swann.

👍💜🔥👍Fantastic plot with plenty of romance and heat! Bill, the billionaire hero, is a sheep in wolves' clothing and reeling from family tragedy that has totally upended his life. The heroine, Lauren, is smart and forebearing, but she can't seem to refrain from jumping to judgment about Bill again and again. But when they get together, super hot!🔥🔥. It was great having a heroine who saved the hero, too. All in all, a gripping story with great secondary characters (including a stepmonster!) and a very satisfying conclusion. I think it could have been a bit shorter with less bedroom action, but that's just my preference.

I received a complimentary advance copy of this book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Lauren works in marketing for a big company. She has a chance meeting with the son of the boss, William, and instantly falls in lust. After an accident leaves William in charge of the company, Lauren and William have to figure out to deal with their mutual attraction. Lauren isn’t the trusting sort and is constantly jumping to the wrong conclusion about William. Nevertheless, the two come to be pretty happy together. And plan to marry. Too bad William HAS to marry. And never bothers to tell Lauren. So just imagine the trouble when she finds out.

This had a decent start, but the end kind of fell apart for me into some nonsense. But, at the end of the day, these two got their HEA. Although there was a point where I wouldn’t have cared if they didn’t. While I didn’t love this book, I’m interested in this family and I’ll be checking out book 2.
