Excerpt from The Last Men of the Revolution: A Photograph of Each From Life, Together With Views of Their Homes; Printed in Colors; Accompanied by Brief Biographical Sketches of the Men

The chief interest of this work lies, of course, 1n the pictorial representations of the men. The artists have accompanied these with views of their residen ces, that, so far as it is possible without personal visit to them, their countrymen may see them, as, in the closing days of their long lives, they live. The bio graphical sketches are designed only to gratify the natural interest which, seeing the men, will be felt to know something of their history.

I came across this book by chance and decided to purchase it on the fly.

It’s definitely not for everyone, but I would recommend if you can get a hardcopy it’ll be a sick addition to any library. While it’s pretty short (about 100 pages) the concept is very cool, and the concept in itself is in fact probably is the drawing point for the book.

The interviewees don’t go into beaucoup amounts of detail about their experiences in the revolutionary war, whether the author left out chucks of their experiences or not we’ll probably never know. Also, you have to take into account that these guys were all centenarians. Either way the idea of this book as a whole makes for a great story, it’s a short and easy read that can be revisited again.
