....An unusual tale of just how deep love and devotion for one another can go, even when life shows it's horrors and losses. Shayne has a writing style unlike any other I've encountered. This story is just, unforgettable.

This was okay.
Definitely a dramatic romance.
The ENTIRE book is an emotional roller coaster.
I mean, it's just one hit after another.
There are most certainly some potential triggers in this book for those who need to know.
Quick read for me and helped me complete a reading challenge I was working on.

I met the most awesome author at Indies in Indy book signing. I’d never heard of her before and didn’t know of her books but I stopped by her table and got talking to her and I walked away needing to check out her books. She was so personable and friendly.
I decided to give this book a shot, worried that I’d hate it and then how could I show my face at any future signings that this author would be at!?
So I went into it, and give a shot…I never expected it to grip me and not let me go. I read this in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down long enough to do anything else (thank god it was my day off!)
I wouldn’t classify this book as your typical romance. Yes, it’s the story about how Elizabeth and Dylan get together but it’s also so much more than that. It was everything I didn’t know I needed in a book. It was full of emotion and love and it was just amazing. But it was also filled with sadness and heartbreak and you know the author is talented when they can bring out both the good and the bad and move you to tears.
Dylan’s story was heart breaking. He’d endured so much and it was only later in the story that you found out the extent of everything he’d been through.
Elizabeth had also been through a lot. But it didn’t change her. No matter how badly people had treated her, she stayed the same loving, helpful, hopeful person that loved to help others. My heart also broke for her on more than one occasion.
Honestly, I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read. Just know that you’ll need some tissues to get you through a part or two, but you know what….it’s totally worth it.

Oh Shayne, you have done it again!
This is definitely not your typical romance.
This story had me from the beginning and did not let go. There were so many turns that I never knew where the storyline was going to go or what would happen. I kept thinking "that was the climax" nope! "this is the climax" wrong again! "This has to be the climax" Nuh uh and then I finally gave up on being wrong and just held on for the remainder of this beautifully broken story filled with beautifully broken people. There were times things got a bit extreme and I didn't care at all, that is how much I loved this book. Shayne McClendon could have had flying monkeys coming out of Lizzie's butt and I wouldn't have even batted an eye.
Be Warned, this story will COMPLETELY WRECK you.

This book was a fast paced read that runs the gamut of emotions and lives up to the promise of its title. I laughed, I cried, I was sympathetic at times and angry at others.
I felt for the main character Elizabeth immediately. The bullying and teasing she suffered in her childhood and teen years pulled at my heartstrings and prompted some not-so-good memories of my own to surface. Who can’t relate to being made fun of for their appearance at one point or another? The thing about Elizabeth is that she truly has a heart of gold, and she doesn’t let the bullying harden it. She has the support of her grandmother, who raised her and put a solid head on her shoulders.
The one thing that doesn’t jive with her sensible nature, however, is her lifelong love for a boy named Dylan. He seems at first to be nothing but trouble. After a chance encounter, he returns to Elizabeth-mostly for aid-again and again. Because she loves him, Elizabeth allows him to do so. This can be frustrating for the reader because you wonder WHY she lets Dylan walk all over her; why she puts up with his random needy visits. Elizabeth’s friends Riley and Donovan wonder the same thing after Dylan predictably disappears after each encounter. Elizabeth doesn’t really have an explanation for them because it’s hard to put that feeling into words of loving someone so much that you’d drop anything at anytime just to help them if they needed it. It lacks reason, no matter how reasonable that person is.
Elizabeth is given many challenges in life, to say the least, and not all of them involve Dylan. Once things seem to be going smoothly for her, the author pulls the rug out from under her feet-and ours-by throwing in another unexpected heartbreak. I won’t lie and say that I didn’t cry through about ¾ of this book. I’ll just lie by omission by not mentioning that part.
I enjoyed the fast pacing of the book; the swiftness with which we move through Elizabeth’s life and see her grow and change. I loved her relationship with friends and family. I also loved that we got the opportunity to see things from Dylan's POV which answered many questions I had. I liked the end of the book, but I don’t want to give anything away by mentioning details so I’ll leave it at that.
Definitely recommend if you are looking for an easy, albeit emotional read.

I actually want to give 4.5 stars. This book made me laugh, cry, smile and break my heart all at once. The last 20% of the book I spent with a box of tissues. Reading other reviews I wondered what they meant by understanding the title once they read it.... I TOTALLY get it now. I am also Completely Wrecked after reading this.
I got a little lost in regards to Dylan. I never fully connected with him, and I felt at times if I missed part of his history during the story. Yes it all came together at the end, but for me personally it distanced me from his character. However Elizabeth, Jewel, Riley & Donovan made me believe in the good in people again. Made me want to be part of their lives, their love, their friendship. I cried and my heart broke with them.
This is my first Shayne McClendon novel, and I can not wait to read more. I personally would never have read this novel if Shayne was not the Author of the Month of the group I am in.

I liked this book but I didn’t love it. Several difficult scenarios were explored and I applaud the author for taking them on.
To me, the plot seemed sketchy in parts in the first half of the book - perhaps because of the long time period it covered? I never bonded at all with Dylan and certainly didn’t care too much what happened to him, Elizabeth annoyed me at times, and there was never enough build up to explain why Elizabeth wanted to leap into bed with him nearly every time she saw him. Other than the fact she liked the look of him, of course. Which I guess is a reason, but not a good enough reason for me.
The sex scenes were tenderly written but there was no tender progression or relationship tension to make it seem realistic or engaging. And I have no idea why the guy decided he could land on her doorstep whenever he was in trouble when they had no solid background together at all. Or perhaps the background wasn’t explored enough in the beginning? By the time it got to Dylan’s POV I didn’t care too much if they were together or not. Other reviewers speak of laughter and tears while reading this novel but I just wasn’t feeling it this time around, though the second half of the book was much more my style than the first half.

WARNING!!! MAJOR BOOK HANGOVER, VERY UGLY CRYING!!!! & I LOVE IT!!!
This is what "True Romance" is all about!! I love everything about it!! The moment this book arrived to my Kindle, I read it right away and finished it in one sitting! Could not put it down! I love all the characters found in this book. I love how much they accepted each other's "flaws" and embraced it with all their heart without question. The support they give to one another. I love how much love Elizabeth has in her heart, so much love that everyone who will get to really know her knows that she is truly has the kindest and gentlest heart on earth! I love how much Dylan loves Lizzy even though he is greatly damaged. It is one emotional roller coaster ride, one I would love to read all over and over again. One that I recommend everyone to read!
Lizzy and Dylan's story really COMPLETELY WRECKED my heart! I'm talking about very ugly crying! Snot dripping, lots of tissue bawling, afraid to wake the hubby crying!! it's been a while that a book made me cry this hard and I LOVE IT!!!!! I super love how the book ended!! Shayne McClendon is like a drug (a bad comparison that doesn't do her works justice). Her writing; the stories and characters that she weaves, the amount of emotions and herself that she puts into her works, just hits the right spot and leave you wanting and craving for me! I ADORE HER <3 So pardon my raving.
This being her first *true* romance novel, I didn't really know what to expect but I knew it was going to be good. None of her works have ever let me down.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in less than three days and it probably wouldn't have taken as long if it weren't for the interfering job thing.
The characters were all unique, in a colorful way. Each had a difficult or tragic back story but overcame it all to be successful and accomplished and extraordinarily good. I wanted to be friends with all of them.
There is a lot going on in this book. It includes multiple issues our society is navigating. And if we were more like these characters, we would navigate them better.
There is some pretty explicit sex scenes so the reader gets a good view of the intimate side of the characters. For this reason, I do caution those with more conservative feelings about sex.
I highly recommend this book. Until I read it, I didn't know about this author. I'm going to read more of her books.

The story as I said, follows Lizzy from a student in high school that was verbally bullied about her weight and height to a successful collage graduate. As for the plot, there were some twist, things I didn't expect which made the story different. I would have loved if this story was in first person, for some reason I connect better to the characters. No cliffhangers for this story, so pick this one up, it's not very long, it took me about 4.5 hours to read.

**VERY MILD SPOILERS**
I now understand the title. . .I was completely wrecked while reading COMPLETELY WRECKED! As the Amazon summary warned, I ugly-cried. I also stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to finish it!
Author Shayne McClendon categorizes this book as a Dramatic Romance. In my opinion, the primary focus of the story is the main character,Elizabeth Clayton's, moral being. It was very refreshing to read about a young woman striving to give of herself both emotionally and physically. Elizabeth never shied from lending a helping hand despite enduring ridicule about her height and supposedly unfeminine features.
Elizabeth's grandmother Jewel was an excellent role model; Jewel was a model of compassion and understanding. I loved Elizabeth, but Jewel made this a very emotional read for me. Jewel reminded me greatly of my great-grandmother who also quilted daily, served the community by feeding the hungry and bereaved, and displayed limitless compassion.
Elizabeth's romantic interest is the handsome but withdrawn Dylan Lange. Since first seeing Dylan at age 10, Dylan's copper eyes have haunted her. Elizabeth and Dylan never speak until age 18 when Elizabeth stumbles upon Dylan lying beaten in the park. Elizabeth and Dylan forge a bond, but Dylan only flints in and out of her life throughout their young adulthood. As a reader, I wondered what were his true feelings for Elizabeth and exactly what type of abuse he had endured throughout his young life. I held out hope that if Dylan could not love her, she would find someone who loved and appreciated her beautiful soul.
COMPLETELY WRECKED is available for purchase on Amazon and through Kindle Unlimited. I purchased it as I have not been disappointed with a Shayne McClendon book yet. She continues to intrigue me with the very different stories that come out of her head. Some may find other stories by Shayne to focus too heavily on sexual relationships. Those same readers may really enjoy COMPLETELY WRECKED because of its focus on emotional relationships.

This is my 5 star review for Completely Wrecked by Shayne McClendon.
Completely Wrecked is the highly emotional love story between Elizabeth Clayton and Dylan Lange. Elizabeth has such a beautiful soul. She is kind, caring, and a one of a kind gem. She is just as beautiful on the outside but she has a hard time seeing it. She suffers through years of bullying and torment. When she decides enough is enough, she changes her physical appearance while keeping her inner issues on the back burner. When she was 10 years old Dylan Lange catches her eye, but she doesn’t think that someone as beautiful as he is will ever give her the time of day. She knows that Dylan is troubled but just how far down has Dylan become?
Dylan is broken; he is so broken that he doesn’t feel he can ever be fixed. Yes he is handsome but they daily struggles that he lives through are too much for him to care about how he looks. He has to save his sister and will go through anything and I do mean anything to make sure she is safe. Dylan has watched Lizzy for years, but has always known that is isn’t good enough for her. She is so sweet and innocent he can never taint her with his battered soul. What will happen when Lizzy saves him one night in the park? Will Dylan ever be able to overcome his past to have a future with the one woman he has always loved?
I really enjoyed reading Lizzy and Dylan’s story. I devoured this in one afternoon. I couldn’t seem to leave my computer screen for very long. I never seen the story leading down the path that it did. I can’t imagine what Lilly and Dylan went through but I am glad Shayne told their story. Gram, Riley, Donovan, Davis and RJ were pretty special characters as well. I would recommend the story to anyone who isn’t scared to shed some tears, because I needed quite a few while reading this one!

She is so sweet and innocent he can never taint her with his battered soul. What will happen when Lizzy saves him one night in the park? Will Dylan ever be able to overcome his past to have a future with the one woman he has always loved?
I really enjoyed reading Lizzy and Dylan’s story. I devoured this in one afternoon. I couldn’t seem to leave my computer screen for very long. I never seen the story leading down the path that it did. I can’t imagine what Lilly and Dylan went through but I am glad Shayne told their story. Gram, Riley, Donovan, Davis and RJ were pretty special characters as well. I would recommend the story to anyone who isn’t scared to shed some tears, because I needed quite a few while reading this one!

Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Clayton was a very bright, but awkward girl growing up in the loving home of her Nana and had a glowing spirit that reached out to those in need. Dylan Lange came into her life in grade school and she found him fascinating.
When he was eighteen, she found him in the park beaten and took him home to care for him. This started a pattern in their relationship until he seemed to have left for good. Elizabeth became a teacher and on the first day of school one year a young boy walked into her room with Dylan's eyes and body language that screamed of the abuse she knew Dylan had endured.
The story deals with the horrible abuse of young children by a parent. It also deals with the bullying and hurtful ways children pick on a child in school that appears unsure and different from the crowd. On the positive side of the story is the loving heart of Nana and how she helps Elizabeth to have the same loving and giving heart to anyone in need.
Although the story has graphic descriptions of child abuse, it shows that we as a society have good people working to help children in need. After teaching for forty-three years I can say this is a realistic look at one of our society's problems and the failure of families to function in a manner to protect our youngest children. The character's are realistic, the plot is involved and the ending was perfect.

Ms McClendon this has to be one of the best stories you have ever written. Not one Character in this story was without a flaw. Not one Character did not touch my emotions on some level. I am not a crier. During this story I cried more than I have in a year. I do my crying on the inside. With this story it was all consuming and I couldn't control the tears. I was a child raised by my Grandmother. I credit her for so many things in my life. So Nana really touched my heart. Like my Grandmother who always wanted to help people. Nana was so real for me. Lizzy and Dylan's story was broken and beautiful with so many ugly things trying to keep them apart. I was transformed into the lives of the characters. I felt everything they were going through. I can say enough about this amazing story. Not only will you cry but you will laugh too. It's an emotional journey. I read this story in one sitting and I find myself thinking about the characters hours later.
I don't think I can read anything else for a few days. I'm having a book hangover. I totally recommend this story. If I could give it 10 Stars I would. I love all of Shayne McClendon's work but I have to say I could tell this story had her blood sweat and tears all over it. It was beautiful.

I enjoyed this book and I read it in one sitting, it was a page turner.
For the first part of the book I knew it was going to be a 5 star read, and then things started getting on my nerves, Elizabeth the h, had a bad time through her schooling years, but still she was a lovely person, a caring person, a forgiving person, a Good Samaritan, can you see where I'm going with this? She was too nice, unbelievabley so.
I loved the first few interactions with Dylan but then it got repetitive and I started feeling angry towards him at the way he was treating Elizabeth, and in turn at Elizabeth for being a bloody doormat.
Then the heartbreak happened and it was sad, then an even more tragic event occurred and it was just too much for me.
It did pick up at the end, but it didn't leave me feeling great, the tragedy that transpired overshadowed it all for me.

This story was an absolute tear-jerker and I was crying in multiple sections of the book. Though built like an Amazon woman, Lizzy was absolutely beautiful on the inside and her ability to give love was enormous. Her grandma who raised her was a great influence on her character - giving, generous and loving. They helped in soup kitchens and welcomed ostracized characters into their home. One example was Lizzy’s best friend Riley. They gave him a home when his parents turned against him when they found he was gay. Lizzy was in love with Dylan who suffered from extreme abuse at home and she gave him unconditional love and nursed him whenever he came to her physically broken. But he was also a source of her heartache, drifting into her life every few years and his presence was not permanent. It was so sad to see such a wonderful woman with so much capacity to give love but was also plagued with loneliness as those she loved left or abandoned her.

I was so consumed by this story that I read it in one sitting. I literally could not put it down. I became very emotional in some parts of this story because it hit home for me. I loved how Shayne developed Elizabeth's character and let her character have this capacity to give so much and never expect anything in return. There were parts I wanted to scream at and there were parts I cried and felt sorry for the character. I ABSOLUTELY loved how you got a little of a man who has intrigued me since I read Hudson(another one of Shaynes books). He really needs a book and to find love. My overall option is this is a book that every reader needs to read. Shayne if you read this you are a phenomenal writer and I've become a lifelong reader. Huge fan of your work.

I am not sure I can write a very well crafted review of this story as nothing I could write would give it justice! This story broke my heart, made me scream in anger, made me cry like a baby and finally, finally made me cheer! Don't get me wrong this story is so wonderful from first page to last with no end of characters that you would be proud to know and emulate. It is a poignant journey of physical, mental and emotional growth and will stay with you long after the last page. Ms. McClendon has written a masterpiece of unreserved love, friendship and devotion of such magnitude that we can only hope to know such people but hopefully not such pain. This is the type of novel you never forget and talk about and share for years to come, Thank you for letting me journey with you!

Incredibly intense. There is pain and there is beauty. When looking at a rose do you see a beautiful flower with ugly painful thorns or thorns with a beautiful flower. That is comparable to this story. Shayne has a way, as she always does, with reeling you into the story, captivating the readers hearts and emotions with words and a story so beautifully written. I love being able to read and grasp every entity of every character and feel what they feel, love what they love, etc. This is incredibly deep, this one isn't one to feel that you are climbing up and out, but moreso that you are crawling through to the other side. And that....

I decided to wait until I could read this story in its full form instead of on the author's website. The story flows nicely, even though it attacks some pretty heady issues. The characters are well developed and the plot takes turns that are sometimes unexpected. The relationships between Lizzy and Dylan grows from a childhood love, unrequited love, heartbreak and eventual HEA. The road to HEA is bumpy and tearful. On a couple of occasions, I had tears in my eyes. The writing is tight and concise. I love Lizzy's heart and strength. These are characters I would like to see again. Well done Ms. McClendon.

Even though this book may tear you up as you read it. You must read it. This is a wonderful love story and you do not want to miss it. This is not the typical Shayne story with tons of hot sex but even without all of that is an awesome story. I read this story as she was writing it chapter by chapter and it tore me up while I couldn't wait for her to post the next chapter. Being able to go back now that she has published it is awesome to sit and read it all at one time was great even though it made me cry. I loved it

Made it to about the half way point, but just could not connect with the characters at all. I didn't buy into the romance, and even though what Dylan went through was terrible, I didn't really feel anything towards him. That may be because we only see glimpses of him up until that point. Lizzy also seemed a bit too perfect, personality-wise, that it just made her character boring.

This book was heartbreaking and beautifully written.
Its one of those stories that haunt you all day and night until you've devoured it.
Lizzy was a character! She was so fierce with her love for her Nan and all the men in her life, Most of all Dylan...swoon!!!....poor poor broken Dylan.

I loved this story, but it made me cry a ton and not just simple tears, but really ugly crying! The story and characters are amazing, but I could have done without the puffy face :)
