Interview with the Author
Q - So, what makes the Annabelle Archer series special?
A - The Annabelle Archer wedding planner mysteries are based on my 20 plus years of planning society weddings in Washington, DC. That means I’ve seen tons of crazy things happen, and I’ve worked with lots of colorful characters. I bring that light-hearted sense of fun and zany characters into the novels. A lot of the humorous details I include in my books actually happened at my weddings! And since the books are about weddings, there is plenty of food, décor, and behind the scenes details.
The Annabelle Archer books are fast-paced cozy mysteries featuring a female protagonist with a little romance and comedy thrown in. You'll find the series focuses on murder mystery and amateur sleuth genre overall, with a jewelry heist caper in the mix to keep things interesting. The next books in the series will take Annabelle and her team overseas!
Q - What order should I read the books in?
A – You won’t be lost if you read the books in this cozy mystery series out of order but if you do want to read them in order, I'd suggest the following sequence:
- Better Off Wed - For Better Or Hearse - Dead Ringer—A Novella - Review To A Kill
Q - So, why should readers give these books a try?
A - Because the Annabelle Archer cozy mystery series is fun, light, and the perfect escape or beach reading. The series has hit the top ten bestsellers list on Kindle for Cozy Mysteries and Women Sleuths. Plus, the first book in the series won the Agatha Award for the Best First Novel.
And thanks for reading!

I'm a writer and reformed wedding planner who loves quiet mornings, great books, paddle boarding, and blackberry cobbler.
I write humorous cozy mysteries about a wedding planner because I like books that make me laugh and because, after planning weddings for twenty years, I have a long list of people to kill.
A quick, easy read with some lol moments. Very likable characters. I had a guess almost early on as to who the killer was, but the journey to the conclusion and big reveal, with a twist, was a good one.
Who knew wedding planning was such dangerous work! I really like Annabelle and the gang, they are a fun group of characters. The mystery was good and I’ve never been more sympathetic to a murderer. Looking forward to reading more in the series.
Read this book if you like: cozy mysteries, amateur sleuths, wedding planning problems, colorful characters, to have a good laugh
Annabelle and the gang are back but this time, Annabelle and Kate seem to be the only persons of interest. And of course, Reese is upset (again) to find them involved in his investigation.
The gang are more dramatic and their antics crazier (if that's even possible). This one has a better conclusion compared to the other books, in my opinion.
3.75 Stars for REVIEW TO A KILL, #4 in Laura Durham’s well written Annabelle Archer’s Wedding Planner series - a Quirky & Clean, Cozy Mystery.
*MY RATING GUIDE: 1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I ENJOYED THIS; 4= I liked this a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).
REVIEW TO A KILL finds Annabelle Archer and her assistant Kate involved in the aftermath of the dual shooting of a former wedding couple the day following their ceremony when Annie and Kate discover their former client in a pool of blood in his home. Of course this is Annie, so she will not desist until she discovers Who (among the many possibilities) desired the Bride from #ell, and her browbeaten husband, dead? The usual colorful supporting cast returns with the introduction of a few new vendors each with a niche in the prestigious DC Brides market.
Secondary character “Senior Nosy Neighbor Leatrice” reappears in REVIEW TO A KILL. She is my least favorite character, a cliche as “the nosy Senior neighbor.” I cringe every time Leatrice enters a scene as she’s simply too intrusive for my taste. The other secondary characters are well developed and add interest to the story. I purchased the 4 book audio set. The narrator, Stephanie Spicer, voices the various characters very well; I enjoyed her reading.
Readers of very light Cozy and/or Cuisine Mysteries may wish to check out this series. DEAD RINGER, #3.5 and REVIEW TO A KILL, #4 were my favorites in the series so far.
READER CAUTIONS - This is a nearly Clean novel appropriate, IMO, for any reader of Murder Mysteries. PROFANITY - Yes, but rarely. VIOLENCE - None on scene. This is a murder mystery but details are not graphic or dark. SEXUAL SITUATIONS - None.
A bridezilla who loves to trash everyone on the review sites is murdered the day after the her wedding. Her husband was shot and in hospital. As Annabelle and her assistant found the husband they are considered persons of interest. In fact everyone Annabelle, the wedding planner, had brought in to help with the wedding were also on the suspect list as the bride had given them all one star reviews. Feeling responsible to the vendors she used and to clear her name, she and her array of eclectic friends begin to investigate.
This is the fourth book in the cozy Annabelle Archer Mystery series. The characters are quirky, engaging and full of personality. They grab your interest and you want to see how it is all going to unfold. I enjoyed the mystery as it had numerous plausible characters, a plethora of subtle clues, dead ends, side stories, dangerous situations and a great deal of suspense. I enjoyed the character interactions, the funny and witty dialogue and the range of emotions displayed by Annabelle. The romance plays a slightly bigger part in this book, adding even more interest to the storyline. I really want to see what the author comes up next for these charming characters.
A charming new entry into the series about Annabelle Archer and her gang of side-kicks. I particularly enjoyed Richard the caterer and the Christian Biker florists. The pace is fast, the characters fun, the romance more of a sweet potential, but the mystery is real and well plotted. While the book, like most cozies, has a breezy feel to it (which is, of course, part of its charm), there's a serious issue addressed in it--that of unfair, untrue hostile online reviews that can damage professionals and businesses. But, whether that's what led to the murder of a beautiful but nasty bride with a hobby of attacking nearly everyone she meets with her online tirades...you'll have to read the book to see. A lot of fun, and well done by the award-winning Laura Durham. Surprising twists, by the way. I read an advance readers' copy, but with no obligation to post a review, good or bad.
The series continues with wedding planner Annabelle Archer, her assistant Kate, good friend Richard, neighbour Leatrice and hairdresser Fran dealing with the ultimate bridezilla - this one is an online troll - leaving negative reviews on message boards & review platforms, designed to ruin everyone she dislikes. After a glorious wedding, she leaves a scathing review about it online and when she is found dead the following day, and the groom wounded, can Annabelle again prove that she had nothing to do with it?
Again, this is a fun, clean, cosy quick-read mystery that will not be a surprise to readers who have read others in the series. There is enough complexity to keep you guessing, but the relationships between the characters ultimately move this series along and keep it interesting!
I love this series, I really do but this one I had to mark down a star. All the good elements are there; the writing and characters are very good and interesting. I love the "insider" view of high-end weddings and the DC or Beltway elite in their natural (??) "habitats". This one, though, disappointed me because it gradually began to dawn on me that the plot seemed VERY familiar. By the end I realized it was, in a lot of ways, a ripoff of an Agatha Christie. I can't say which one because of spoilers but you can message me and I'll tell you. I'll still continue with the series because it is enjoyable to read and I want to experience more!
Thoroughly enjoyed all the Annabelle Archer Wedding Planner books, could have done with her when my late husband and I organised our wedding five years ago! Great fun but hard work as I was still working full time. I promise that I would not have been a bride from hell! I love reading about her friends and colleagues and can picture them in my mind as I am reading about them. Hope we don't have to wait too long for the next in the series as I have become seriously addicted!
These stories are so cute. I love that I'm never sure who the bad guys are and I absolutely adore all of the characters. The chemistry is just perfect between the core characters and each has a very specific role in Annabelle's crazy, busy, wedding planner life. There is always drama at weddings and certainly during the planning phase. So I've thoroughly enjoyed a scenario where it ends in an extreme (murderous) way. Lol
This series has made me laugh out loud! I have read one book after the other; they are that good! The Wedding Planners, Annabelle, Kate, their friends Richard, Fern, and Leatrice make for entertaining reading. I am fascinated with Detective Reese! A hottie! I highly recommend! Thank you! This book got me out of my reading slump. Everything about this series is amazing, the characters, the story, the plot twist EVERYTHING. It felt so good to be back in the Annabella Archer's world of dramatic weddings, murders, investigation and an amazing group who is hell bent yo solve the case before the police does.

After reading all the books in the series so far, I can't get enough of Annabelle, Kate, Fern, Richard, Reese and the crazy neighbor. Still love the humor used and the antics they get up to!
The level of danger kicks up a notch in this 4th book of the series. The regular characters continue to entertain and you will find yourself laughing out loud. A great read for people who like to solve cozy mysteries!
I love this series! The humor, the quirky characters, and wedding tid-bits always make these murder mysteries quite fun! I wanted to kill the victim myself from the moment I met her she was so awful! 😉 Well-written as always. Can’t wait to read the next one!
I really enjoyed Review to A Kill. I love the quirky characters. Annabelle and her friends have many adventures as they solve the mystery and prove their innocence. This mystery has so many twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. This book is entertaining and fun. I highly recommend this book.
This series is AWESOME! I love the characters and can't wait to read all about they're crazy adventures. This is one series that I would recommend to everyone
Funny, sassy, gossipy. Annabelle Archer is the Stephanie Plum of wedding planners. Annabelle has to deal with the bride from hell and then clean up the messy aftermath of the bride's poison pen.
Annabelle, her friends and a husband my detective are back to solve a murder mystery. This one is tough because the victim isn’t liked by anyone and she has a lot of enemies. It was fun, and I love each book.
Another greag follow up book. I am so hooked to this series. I do not know what I am going to do when it ends. I put myself right into the scenes she creates. They make me feel as if I am right there with them. I am so glad i stumbled onto this series
Reviews are to die for, or not! Annabelle has a lot to loose as she plunges head first into murder, mystery and bad reviews. reviews. Another fun read by Laura Durham that has you laughing aloud and wanting more.
